New thread. Welcome back to all the regulars. Welcome to all the newbies - please come and join us if you are IVFing or thinking about. The regulars are a mine of information at this point!

Do you realise that this will take us through a year of egg buddy threads? I believe Karbea started the last one around Xmas time last year for those cycling in 2013 and I immediately jumped on it as I was about to start my first cycle in January. Blimey.

Thoughtful - missed your post in myself absorption. Sorry to read that it's not a surprise (viable) pregnancy. Nearly 200 is quite high. Are they continuing to monitor (sorry if you've said, can't scroll properly on phone).

resipsa · 09/01/2014 20:47

PS Bad - about the sedation for EC. I had a bit of a traumatic time post-delivery of DD (retained placenta caused haemorrhage) and so said I wanted GA for EC. Cons Anaes talked me into sedation instead and am glad he did. Felt/remembered nothing but recovery v quick and no ill effects.

Badhairday76 · 09/01/2014 20:51

Wow Euro- am really pleased for you!

Thanks for sharing the info re the unmediated FET, Brooker. I will definitely go for that next. I don't want to ever inject myself with Buserelin Devil Juice again.

Res - I really feel for you. Loads of my friends are pregnant right now and I found it really hard hearing their news after all their losses. One of them texted me to see how I was doing, then proceeded to moan away about how awful she was feeling with her pregnancy symptoms. Needless to say, I just don't have much sympathy. She's a good friend and I was quite hurt, but people really don't get it. Also, when I found out that a third member of my NCT group had got pregnant and burst into tears, my DP looked at me like I was crazy and so didn't get why I was upset. That is why I love this thread, cos the ladies on here DO get it.

On another note., I am on Menopur, not Gonal F. What is the difference? The needles are still blunt, but I don't get a stingy rash and lump after injecting. My belly is all sore and bruised though.

Badhairday76 · 09/01/2014 20:59

Thanks Res - I had a GA for my son's birth, because his heart rate suddenly slowed right down so they had to get him out super quick and also had GAs for my two tube removals. I hate them and feel rotten afterwards with an ulcerated throat, but am a bit scared that I'll move or something if I'm not completely out cold and end up with a perforated bladder or something. This maybe asking for too much info, but do you have a really sore fanjo after egg collection or is it more like abdominal pain? It took me a couple of weeks to recover from Ectopic surgery both times so I'm assuming it won't be as bad as that. They keep going on about my tilted womb though - dunno if that makes a difference?

BrookerC · 09/01/2014 21:03

So sorry thoughtful I've just read back & seen what you're going through. I really hope it's good news tomorrow. x

Badhairday76 · 09/01/2014 21:08

Thoughtful - I'm so sorry too. I've just scrolled back to find your post. You poor thing. Have they ruled out an ectopic? You have my every sympathy and big virtual hugs xxx

Pipbin · 09/01/2014 21:10

So happy for you Euro
Hurrah for EC Bunny. I makes it all seem possible doesn't it.

Res PG people are every damn where, and some people, who should know better can be so insensitive.

I'm on Gonal F but I don't have anything to mix?

twinklestar2 · 09/01/2014 21:59

Well done on the 5 eggs, bunny :)

Res - they're are no fuckin words.

Euro - so pleased for you! How far gone are you? I had bleeding on Boxing Day. Was so scared, went straight to a&e and they booked me in for a scan at EPU the next morning. Wept when everything was ok.

Waves to everyone else. Am rooting for you all x

Hatteras · 10/01/2014 01:28

euro - what a relief! So pleased to hear that everything is ok.

bunny - 5 eggs sounds good...and remember, it only takes one!

resp and in fact all of us, pregnant colleagues, cousins, sister in laws...yes we are very pleased for your news, just go and enjoy it somewhere else for a while. It's hard sometimes, I know logically that what seems like hyper fertility of all around me doesn't have any impact on me, that it is our baby I am awaiting for, not someone else's....but sometimes I just can't believe how easy it is for some (most) people

Another scan tomorrow am ( I am in a different time zone to you all, so still Thursday day evening here) - third day in a row, the clinic said today that most likely egg collection Sunday or Monday (fingers crossed).

Hatteras · 10/01/2014 01:36

oh, and just found this on one of my online trawls for IVF info:

'A recent Israeli study showed that women who were entertained by medical clowns right after the IVF transfer procedure were significantly more likely to get pregnant than those who underwent the classical IVF procedure, sans-clown.'

Words fail me....

(clown suit ordered for DH just in case)

ThoughtfulOne · 10/01/2014 08:28

Ha - I read the thing about clowns too and even tried a bit of comedy on the way home but it didn't work for me - perhaps I was missing the actually clown!

They haven't ruled out ectopic as they couldn't see anything on the scan. My hcg was identical in my last ectopic and in the first ectopic it was over 700. I'm having repeat bloods today to see if they double but I don't hold out much hope. If my last period was a period and not a random early pregnancy bleed then I was cd21 with an hcg of 198 - not very likely since I usually have 28 day cycles. If the bleed was an early bleed then I am about 7 weeks with an hcg of 198 and nothing on the scan. Either way I can't see this ending well.

Bunnygirlie · 10/01/2014 09:00

Thinking of you thoughtful

Bunnygirlie · 10/01/2014 09:02

Bad - I have had no lady bits pain, just tummy ache. Bit like period pain crossed with a stitch, paracetamols have kept it bearable.

Right I'm off to find me a clown, and await the phone call.

Badhairday76 · 10/01/2014 09:31

Poor you, Thoughtful. I know it probably sounds like no consolation at all, but if it is an ectopic, it looks like you won't have to have another tube removal. With my most recent one in August I was 7 weeks, but the foetus was stuck right next to my ovary and hadn't made it down the tube at all. You could see it as a bulge on the ultrasound so had to be removed. I really feel for you though. Ectopics are just awful. Thinking of you xxx

Hatt - I heard the study about the clown as well! I am constantly amused by the kids I teach at the moment. I feel better for being back at work after the Christmas holidays. I have to teach Year 7 Frankenstein this term and we do loads of work around whether Frankenstein was right to 'play God' and try to create life. There is a huge section on IVF and reproductive technologies, discussing how Mary Shelley might have felt about their use. Will be interested to teach this to them, knowing what I do now. I fantasise about being able to tell them at Easter that I am pregnant through IVF. Am so hopeful, it's ridiculous.

Bunny - so glad you are feeling okay in the ladybits area! Hopefully all of your eggs will be busy fertilising right now. Fingers tightly crossed for you.

Hello to everybody else. Xxx

eurochick · 10/01/2014 10:10

Interesting bugs. I've never heard of anyone getting powdered Gonal F before. We had to mix Cetrotide though, and that was fine.

bad I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach after EC- very bruised. But despite all the needle sticking, my fanoir actually felt fine.

Hatteras not long to go now then! I've heard of the clown study before. (WTAF is a "medical clown" though? Sounds terrifying!)

Thoughtful I'm thinking of you.

twink I hit 7 weeks yesterday. How about you?

OP posts:
starsandmoonandback · 10/01/2014 10:30

Thoughtful, ignore me if I'm being daft, but could you have got pregnant since that bleed 3 weeks ago? You must be so anxious about history repeating itself. I really hope it's not hun. Hugs

Hat, not actually heard about the clown, but have heard laughing lots helps implantation??!! So perhaps watching comedy might be just as good as hiring a clown?! Wink

Bunny, well done on your 5 eggs. It really is quality over quantity. I know it feels safer when there's more numbers to play with but it really doesn't lead to a bfp anymore than with smaller numbers. I know lots of people (having been around for years on the Ivf train (!) who have had 3 or 4 eggs collected and a few them even have twins now!!! Good luck for the call. Look forward to hearing your news.

Euro, such good news that all is ok. I bet you're pleased your friend talked you into going now Smile

Twinks, how are you feeling?

Bad, your fanjo isn't sore after ec (thank god!) it's more achey sore in abdomen area, although some people don't have much pain at all. I always feel a bit battered and achey for a few days myself tho. The diff between menopur and gonal F is that menopur has LH includes in it as well. I've had both and have responded well on both. This time on gonal f but taking a separate LH! It means more injections argh!Confused

Brooker, interesting to hear about non medicated FET. I have 1 frozen blasto (only one I've ever got out of 6 cycles!) and it's my only back up! But I couldn't do medicated if it involved Buserilin as it really makes me want to kill myself (and divorce my husband!). How much does a non medicated FET cost, roughly?

Bugs, I think gonal F comes in vials as well as a pen, but I don't think I've known anyone not have the pen! The own is easier, but I like just a little but doing my bit if chemistry with my vials!! Hee hee!!

Res, just what you needed eh?! Blimey people can be so thoughtless and self absorbed! Hope you were able to make your dh understand how you felt, when you saw each other yday evening.

hi to anyone I've missed.

Afm: on train to London for another follie scan. Reading metro, story about 58 yr old man with 22 kids all with different mothers, has escaped a prison sentence for drug dealing, so he can be home to look after his baby with his 26yr old girlfriend! I hate to feel like a daily mail reader, but it bloody bugs me...22 kids cos he doesn't use protection for his one night stands!!! Grrrrr! Is it just me that feels frustrated with these stories?

Anyway, apart from that rant, I have massively sore boobs and achey ovaries!! And my DS somehow seems to keep elbowing my boobs, ouchie!

Sunny at the moment. Yay Grin come on, we want some more bfp's on this thread. We all deserve it.

This is the UP BUM, YES BABY THREAD!!!!! Grin

Bunnygirlie · 10/01/2014 10:34

Just had the call, 2 fertilised and going back tomorrow morning for the transfer.

The embrylologist had to mention that there is a small chance that the cells might not divide overnight so of course I'm now stressing while trying to be positive aaaaaagh!

Bunnygirlie · 10/01/2014 10:37

Oh yes shoving things where the sun doesn't shine was an interesting new experience today!

eurochick · 10/01/2014 10:49

Hurrah for fertilisation and impending ET bunny! Most embies do divide, so try not to worry.

stars I hope the scan goes well. I read that story too. For some reason, mother nature (or god, if you believe in one) seems to have seen fit to grant ridiculous fertility to many pointless idiots. Maybe it is because human heads are already almost too big for us to birth. Some intelligence needs to be bred out of the human race!

OP posts:
twinklestar2 · 10/01/2014 10:57

Euro I'm 10 weeks on Sunday. So you're an august baby too?

stars - I read that too and nearly screamed. Makes me angry. Again there are no words. I'm feeling ok, thanks for asking. No puking, just a lot of dry retching which I can cope with.

good luck for transfer Bunny

shaking pom poms for you all over here.

eurochick · 10/01/2014 11:23

Yes. And to think that when we started ttc, we postponed by a month because I was worried about having an August baby! Are you planning on "graduating" to another thread? The IVF Worriers thread is largely a post natal thread now, although there are a few preggos still on there.

OP posts:
starsandmoonandback · 10/01/2014 11:26

Bunny. Yay! 2 lovely embies, all you need for a double transfer WinkWink How annoying the embryologist 'felt' she should mention that Shock I guess she wanted to prepare you for the worst case scenario, but it's unlikely and to be fair, you didn't really need more worry! Hope those embies keep dividing nicely for tomorrow's ET.

Euro, you did make me laugh! Grin

Twinks, dry retching doesn't sound much fun, I have to say! But guess better than actual puking! Lol! 10 weeks on Sunday...it's going fast! Smile

Sitting waiting for scan. Apparently both doctors scanning have been called down to theatre, so our scans are delayed! The waiting room is pretty busy today!

starsandmoonandback · 10/01/2014 11:56

Oh no! The replacement scanning person appears to be a very young, attractive male doctor! Eek Blush

bugs I found the whole of IVF a fat fest. I did manage to lose it all afterwards though (well, not after the latest round, obvs).
