New thread. Welcome back to all the regulars. Welcome to all the newbies - please come and join us if you are IVFing or thinking about. The regulars are a mine of information at this point!

Do you realise that this will take us through a year of egg buddy threads? I believe Karbea started the last one around Xmas time last year for those cycling in 2013 and I immediately jumped on it as I was about to start my first cycle in January. Blimey.

Yeah Bunny - I am dying to know what 'conscious sedation' feels like. It sounds a bit scary to me! Well done on the 5 eggs as well x

Bunnygirlie · 09/01/2014 16:11

Thanks! 5 eggs doesn't sound a lot though.

The sedation was fine, bit like the general I had for my lap but obviously shorter and felt less zombie like quicker. Chatted to doctor, sharp scratch in my hand and then woke up back in my room, less than an hour later.

Badhairday76 · 09/01/2014 16:17

Thanks for letting us know. Glad the procedure went okay for you. Don't be disappointed with the 5 eggs - hopefully your baby is amongst the batch! Rest up and take it easy!

Well done Bunny! Let us know how they do. 5 is fine. Remember, most people do this with just 1!

Sorry to rant now but FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! Remember the story about the colleague and the gossip? Well, said colleague rang cryptically this morning to ask me to cancel her meetings for today as she was in A+E. She's FUCKING PREGNANT! The only person save DH who knew about our DE IVF and m/c. You couldn't make it up. All is fine with her it seems but I found it really hard to say congratulations!

Bunnygirlie · 09/01/2014 17:00

bad I'm resting!

bug should get a call tomorrow morning (everything is crossed)

res that's crap! Rant away.
I still haven't congratulated my pg cousin, it's just too hard.

It seems she had abdo pain and bleeding so fair enough to get checked out (as they initially suspected an ectopic) but now I know at 5 weeks, just 1 week after my 'empty' scan. If I'd been told at her 12 weeks (ie when everyone else will find out), I'd probably have coped better!

Since last posting, I've done nursery pick up and cooed over the many, many, many babies then come home to field various texts about two 3 year olds parties this weekend. DH is at work. I am utterly miserable and alone. .

resipsa · 09/01/2014 18:30

Texted DH the story and he's 'chuffed' for her. I feel that I'm going mad; no one gets it.

BrookerC · 09/01/2014 18:46

Oh for fucks sake resp how totally shite for you. We completely get it. I can't face my un pregnant friends with kids at the minute let alone the pregnant ones Sad I think you need to speak to her. It would be completely unfair & so hard to deal with a running commentary of her pregnancy over the coming weeks & months, especially so soon. I'd explain how painful it is for you, wish her well and ask if you can both leave the subject alone.
Have a glass of Wine. If AF turns up in the next hour (feels very much on the way) I shall be joining you.

res I'd never heard the grape thing. Ours used to be partial to a grape or two and it didn't seem to do them any harm. It's good to know though. Both mr euro and I would love to get a dog, but 2 full time careers won't accommodate one. Maybe one day.

The story about your colleague is just unbelievable. I'd say crack open the red wine. You need it tonight.

*thoughtful that's a good number, but as you say odd with the period 3 weeks ago. I hope the next test brings good news.

bunny well done on getting through EC! It's all about quality not quantity. On my 2 BFP rounds I got 1 mature egg first time and 4 mature eggs on this latest round. It's odd how ever clinic seems to have different directions wrt the bum bullets. I have to say, I'm much more comfortable about using the back door now I have some surgical gloves for the job! I'm a bit of a clean freak and fingers just should go there imo.

I had conscious sedation for my first two rounds. It felt just like a general to me, although I came round more quickly.

AFM, a friend bullied me into going to the EPU, and amazingly everything is fine. They couldn't see what caused the bleed. But the foetus was a good size and there was a heartbeat and even the beginnings of a brain (I find it amazingly how soon this stuff starts). My blood pressure (taken before the scan) was unsurprisingly high, but hopefully that is better now.

Well done on the 5 eggs bunny. IOTO x
bugs I know that rolling pin feeling well with the DR needles. They must be the cheapest of the cheap. Do you have the pen for stimming ? The needle on those is lovely in comparison. They glide in!

vallinnapod · 09/01/2014 19:07

Euro - I am so pleased for you!

And you too Bunny! 5 is great, congratulations!

Res... I can't even begin to comprehend what must be going through your friend's head. I agree you need to be very frank with heras to your feelings (in a tactful a way!)

BrookerC · 09/01/2014 19:19

euro what a relief. Well done to your friend! Hope you can relax a little.
val checked back through my clinic notes & it's cyclogest for 12 weeks with mine too. Sorry for any false hope ladies!

Euro - fantastic news. Friend deserves flowers. You will sleep well tonight. Destined for a big brain, eh? Love the way you leave the news to the end, you tease!!!

eurochick · 09/01/2014 19:47

bugs that sounds like menopur - that comes in powder form.

Thanks ladies. Let's hope for now more drama!

Gah - NO more drama.

BrookerC · 09/01/2014 20:01

bugs what's fragmin for? Sounds like you're mixing the gonal f then? I thought it only came in pen form.
thoughtful (and anyone else interested in drug free FET) my cycle will consist of a couple of scans & bloods and that's it! I go to the clinic on day 2, day 10 then every other day until I ovulate. They measure the quality & thickness of the lining & I may need a trigger if there's an issue with ovulation. But other than that, they just pop the embryo back 5 days later (if it thaws) & that's it. I mean that's it! No progesterone or anything! I nearly kissed the nurse when she told me. DH asked what happens to my natural egg and she said it could fertilise naturally (hmmmm) and we may end up with two! Does that sound right?
I'm having a scratch on day 21 of this cycle - AF due today and having the FET next month.
They also do a medicated cycle if you have irregular cycles which includes Buserelin
Have you decided which way you will go with your FET thoughtful?

Well done Euro - great news

Brooker - that sounds wonderfully simple. Once I get over this current misscarriage/ectopic I think I will go for that.

Bunnygirlie · 09/01/2014 20:42

Ugh res even our other halves don't get it Sad

Fab news euro yay!

Thanks all, fingers crossed that 5 is enough to do the job!
