Heehee I had my day 21 blood test on CD22 too. Lady who took the test asked what day it was in my cycle but that didn't matter if it was exactly 21. Especially as my cycle will be like 30 days long it makes sense to do it slightly later

m33r · 04/11/2013 15:13

mama in work so cann't do the maths but the day does matter. I had my first 21 day test on day 21 but as I had a long cycle, I got a negative and had to go on day 28. Then got my positive. Worth knowing! Good luck.

As I say tied up at work so will have more time to chat through later

flymo79 · 04/11/2013 15:37

umm, confused about day 21 test now, as my doc already knew that I have long-ish cycles... I suppose there's a chance they can ask you back the next week if they need to (i.e if no sign you've ov'd yet)

flymo79 · 04/11/2013 15:50

oh, so have just looked back over some old posts and it's all based on averages (i.e. the average woman ovulating around day 14, and therefore a test at day 21 should tell them what they need to know about 7 days prior to AF), however as most women who ovulate do so at a different time each month this isn't an exact science until AF arrives. It may be that you/we/I would get a higher reading on a different day, but they start with cd21 as a starting point. Also, all GPs will have a different view, I suspect!

m33r · 04/11/2013 15:59

Perfect flymo. And if you get low / neg the first time but then AF is much later, they'd run it again. I told mine categorically that it wouldn't work at day 21 but they apparently have to follow the guidance

ScienceGeekGirl · 04/11/2013 16:08

Does seem like doctors do it differently. As my doc knew I was doing opks and that my cycles can be over 40 days he said work it out as 7 days before predicted next period (I.e 7dpo for me). Most months if I did the test on day 21 I'd still have over a week till I even ovulate so test would be completely pointless. This cycle I have my 'normal' person cycle so actually turned out to be CD22

flymo79 · 04/11/2013 16:19

science, have you had the results yet??

Missvaughan85 · 04/11/2013 16:21

Well back from the doctors, doctors was so nice, not much he can do just yet. Told me to wait it out a week, test again and then go back to see him if af still doesn't arrive. My pins and needles and back ache didn't worry him, he kept asking me pregnancy questions with a smile on his face. Bless him.
Popped to the supermarket and bought to clear blue tests. Girl on the counter asked me two just so you can make sure, I ignored it she then said well I hope it's good news anyway. I then politely paid and then made a complaint to the manager!! It's bad enough having to buy more pregnancy tests when your in limbo, without the stupid girl on the counter pointing it out!!!

mama31 · 04/11/2013 16:33

Awh MissV how annoying indeed! Glad the doc was nice though! Good luck!!! Keep us posted!

Wow interesting stuff re the blood test, so much to learn!! well I will be due af approx 5 days after my cd21 (22) blood test and will be approx 8dpo, is this a good or bad thing??? Anyone know???

Hello onelife!!! :) awwwwh I know your broody it's hard....but I'm sure you enjoyed having the little one around :) and hopefully won't have to wait too long for your own little one! stay positive! And yes the smiley face was lovely to see! DH will be happy as well ;)

I'm also not decorating a room as I'm hoping to decorate as a nursery when I get my bfp!!!! It's so annoying having to wait!

M33R I sure hope your doing ok, thinking of you! Hugs!!!

ScienceGeekGirl · 04/11/2013 16:45

I reckon your timing is fine mama they can't expect it to be exact as cycles are so variable. Even asked doctor husband what if my timing is out cos ov is day later than I guess or my LP is shorter than 14 days which it regularly is and he told me to stop worrying and a day here or there should be fine.

P.s really helpful having doctor DH as although he's not a fertility dr or anything. Whenever go to GP he just asks what DH thinks should be done and does that so don't have to twist GPs arms for tests Smile

lucyfluff · 04/11/2013 16:46

Awww missv thats pants!!! did he offer to do a urine test for you? I hate it when docs dont do anything...can you tell im impatient!!!

Ive booked a telephone apt for Thursday this week too, want to ask about how long AF should take etc and have a niggly tummy ache. I bet its the same old wait and see!!!!

Onelife I have missed your posts Smile hope your ok x

ScienceGeekGirl · 04/11/2013 16:47

Oh and fly, tests were on the NHS so days yet till I get the results. NHS not known for its speediness lol

Missvaughan85 · 04/11/2013 17:10

No Lucy he didn't, I think it was because I've had bfn previously, he was very nice and said come back and see me in a week no matter what results you get and we'll take it from there. He was very nice. I am impatient though. Especially with this back ache!!!

leezl · 04/11/2013 17:32

I'm fed up. Officially.
AF was early again this month. Why is it only now that I'm TTC my periods are suddenly all over the place? I know, I know: stress.
I haven't had any hormonal contraception in my system for around two years - maybe closer to three now! I had an implant and had periods throughout. I do have an under active thyroid, and when I increase my levothyroxine I sometimes skip a period, but I've been on a stable dose for around six months now, so, ehh.
We DTD round about every other day after I come off my period. Any more would be a serious struggle tbh.
Should this be the month I get an ovulation kit??? I've been putting it off but, what else is there to try?
I just feel like crying when I think about it, ugh. I'm so frustrated with myself!
Also hello Grin

DinkyMole · 04/11/2013 17:39

Aww leezl, how disappointing Sad it really messes with your head doesn't it? I like doing OPKs only for the reason that it gives me a sense of control so I'd recommend it but with the warning that it can make you feel even more crazy Grin I wake up at 6.30am every morning to take my temperature and regularly check my FertilityFriend iPhone app to add more "symptoms". I seriously need to stop and get a life!

littlemissy1234 · 04/11/2013 17:52

Can I join? Had a mmc with a d&c on the 2nd Oct and still waiting for my AF but as soon as it's here I'll be ttc. So you never know I might be in with a shot by the end of the month! I'll try and catch up with everyone's posts!

leezl · 04/11/2013 17:58

Thank you Dinky!
Yeah I was temping for a month or two but my results were so weird and I was getting a bit crazy so I stopped for a bit. Better start again lol! I use Woman Log (worst name ever) and add my symptoms and all the rest of it. It has an even worse idea of when I ovulate than I do, though Confused
OPK, here I come.

SaraRB123 · 04/11/2013 17:59

Evening ladies!!

First off...huge congratulations Just! Although I am super jealous, I am also very very very pleased for you hunxx

Ok, are you ready? You said you wanted details so don't kick me out for sharing tmi...

Preseed - all in all, I really liked it. I do sometimes suffer from dryness - especially since me and OH have been constantly connected via our parts since TTC lol, it needs to be comfortable else I don't relax if you know what I mean? The instructions said to use 3 whatever the measurements on the syringe...wowzer, we would both have drowned so I used only 1 which in the syringe looks like nothing but it goes a long way!! It was very nice actually, very comfortable and did not feel unnatural at all. The only downside I would say is that a while later I did nip to the loo and it seemed the excess preseed and made its exit!! Which I instantly started clenching in case any swimmers escaped!!! But it was totally clear exactly as it is in the tube so I'm hoping it was swimmer free!!!!

I did like it, and I will be using it again. I did not use any externally which is another option but cannot review that!! Let just see how it ges.

Ladies I have a testing question...I know it VERY unlikely I am pregnant this soon, in fact it would probably be a miracle, but the symptoms I'm getting are messing with my head - I know they are all normal coming off the pill symptoms, but it really does mess with your head doesnt it? Anyway, my question being that I have a big works night out on Saturday, and I'm terrified of drinking 'just in case'. So do I:
a) get plastered and run the risk (I'm thinking no)
b) not drink 'just in case'
c) take a test on Friday/Saturday morning just to rule it out and then I can get trollied in peace and guilt free?

Answers on a post card ;-)

VJONES1985 · 04/11/2013 18:21

Sara - how many dpo will you be on that day? And what symptoms are you having? I would seriously just go for it - you cannot put your life on hold and many women do all sorts of things before they realise they are pg. Maybe just don't get bladdered, just in case!

m33r · 04/11/2013 18:25

leezl hang in there! I was really regular too until we started ttc then I was 2 days late every month for about six months taking my cycle from standard issue 28 days up to 40 days then when I thought I was ov really late (to accommodate a 40 day cycle), I got big CM gloop and then cycle went back to 30 days. Was then two days late this cycle so think I'm on the way back up. Its all so random! Stick with it though...

m33r · 04/11/2013 18:28

sara I agree with vj. You have to live your life. I thought a bit like you in the beginning but I am so glad that I didn't give things up because I'm now 12 months in. I'm sure that won't happen to you but the principle is the same. You need to live and as vj says, plenty women don't even know they're pg. I'm not suggesting that you start shotting vodka or anything but I also think champagne on arrival, wine with meals and the odd drink to see the night through will be no problem. And if you get a BFN, you will be FURIOUS! ... I mean you'll be furious anyway but don't add not having a few wines to your rage! All :-)

VJONES1985 · 04/11/2013 18:29

leezl When you say af is early, do you mean your luteal phase is too short??

m33r · 04/11/2013 18:31

oh and sara thanks for preseed info. think I'm going for it this month too...

LH1981 · 04/11/2013 18:32

Hi Ladies,

Well, I'm gearing myself up for a chemical pregnancy this time around.
I caved today and bought a cheap Sainsburys set of 2 and a first response and all came up negative - not even a hint of a line.
Perhaps I got a dodgy batch of Superdrug ones before, but either way I think I must be way way past OV and should bed getting even clearer lines by now, not nothing! (SD ones were 4 days ago).

Got no symptoms except for slight wooziness. No AF symptoms either. Boobs slightly tender but very very mild.

This is infuriating! Sad

m33r · 04/11/2013 18:33

sorry; also glad to hear I'm not the only person not touching the 'nursery' and buying baby friendly items for the house. I also said to DH the other day 'we can put the children's pictures from nursery on that wall' - have lost the plot! But we're so ready... as I say, glad I'm not alone!
