4ever at least that's 3 so that'll be it now! Rubbish about the tooth but yes thank goodness for maternity exemption. I had a crown with mine which I'd have never been able to afford without. I still pinch myself with J too and frequently just well up looking at him.

Shroomboom · 29/01/2014 18:01

Hi all Smile Have just spent a while writing down the birth story so here it is!
So, we woke up on the Tuesday morning and when I went to the loo I realised something wasn't quite right so I rang the hospital and they said to go in. When we got there I was monitored and then they did a test to see if my waters had gone, and to our great surprise they had! I had only lost a tiny bit of liquid so we were pretty shocked when they told us we'd have to stay in the hospital. They said that if labour didn't start spontaneously then they would induce me the following day.
So I had another monitoring session, and then we went for a walk to try to get things started. I'd been having Braxton Hicks very strongly all night the night before and they were continuing, and at about 1.30pm the contractions started to hurt quite a bit. I was being monitored again, and the doctor came in to tell us that with each contraction the baby's heart rate was dipping and so they may need to do a caesarian.
At 2.15pm I was moved into the delivery room, and they broke my waters properly in order to put a clip on Lily's head so they could monitor her heart rate better. The contractions got a lot stronger after that, and I started to find it difficult to cope. I told dh that I needed an epidural, and the next time the midwife came in he asked for a paracetamol for me. I have to say I swore at him quite a lot after she'd left the room! He says he panicked Grin
Just after that I had the most enormous contraction, and the heart monitor that was attached to Lily's head slowed down and then stopped beeping. Dh ran out into the corridor and the room literally filled with doctors and midwives all within seconds. I had somebody putting a drip in me at the same time as someone else was trying to move the baby around, and at the same time the doctor was at the end of the bed telling us they were going to rush us in for a caesarian. It was absolutely terrifying. Thank goodness after a few minutes her heartbeat stabilised and they said they would give labour another chance but if it happened again I would be whisked in.
After that they did the epidural just in case of the caesarian which was just as well as the contractions were coming roughly every two mins and lasting for a minute each. Unfortunately the epidural didn't work properly - I had to stay on my left side because it seemed better for Lily's heart rate so all the epidural medication sank to the left and I had almost complete feeling on the right. By the time I was fully dilated I was begging for the anaesthetist to come and sort it out as I was in a lot of pain but was told she couldn't come as she was busy! I have to say I had been dreading getting to the pushing part while still feeling the pain of the contractions, but pushing through the pain made it so much easier to deal with.
The midwife said I could start pushing so while I did that she was busying herself round the room getting things ready. After two pushes she went past the end of the bed and realised Lily was making a much swifter exit than she'd thought so she raced to get the doctor who just made it in in time! I think Lily was out in 5 pushes, and I have a big episiotomy and lots of stitches to show for it!
She was an extraordinary purple colour when she was handed to me but soon pinked up - the hospital was fab as we were given two and a half hours skin to skin before she was even taken to be weighed. It was such a special time and gave dh and I a chance to try to calm down after such a speedy and terrifying labour!

Anyway, I wasn't meaning to write such an essay, sorry it's turned out so long!

Lily's just waking up so must go and get some relief from my rock hard boobs... Hope all is okay with everyone xxx

Shroomboom · 29/01/2014 18:06

PS Babymoon still fab thanks 4ever Grin She seems a very calm girl and is pretty easy tbh. We're waiting for things to change though Grin
Bf'ing going okay but am in a lot of pain when she latches on - earlier I was crying through it but it eases after a little while. She's sleeping so much that am getting engorged quite a lot but I hope things should settle down...
Poor you with everything cracking, but as moon says that's three things now so hopefully that'll be the end of it Grin Which tooth is it that's cracked? Hope you're okay.
moon 14 weeks is fab! Will be so lovely for J to have a cousin!!

moonmrs · 29/01/2014 20:23

Wow Shroom thanks for sharing your birth story, sounds pretty scary and full on, you did brilliantly! I found getting J latched on very painful to start with but it does.ease off as they get older and the engagement will soon settle down once your milk production sorts itself out and will only make what Lily actually needs as opposed to feeding the 5 thousand which is what I felt like!

littlebellsmum · 29/01/2014 20:51

loving the birth story, s'boom. scary but over and your miracle is alive, well and probably feeding as I type. hope you recover quickly as it sounds like your body had a rough time too. enjoy those sleepless nights - and I bet you are doingGrin I clearly remember the nights when dd1 was born, sitting her room in the dark, just me and her - with the others, I went for co sleeping, which was lovely too. anyway, talking about sleeping, need to turn lights out for the older 2 and shop for their furniture

moonmrs · 29/01/2014 21:01

just noticed my phone put engagement and not engorgement.... sorry!

bluesatinsash · 30/01/2014 22:33

Hey everyone LOVED reading your birth story shroom lots of drama but thankfully all was well thst ended well Smile. So lovely you got skin to skin snuggles too Smile. Hope your stitches are behaving themselves, they say salt baths are good for - ahem - battered nether regions.

I so remember the early engorged (.) (.) days, my tip was to take time to make sure they got a good grip rather than perseveres with a poor one. Sometimes my nipples were totally flat as so full of milk and Lord it was sore but regular feeding helped massively and really settled after about 7 days.

Loved the story behind Lily's name too, it makes it so very special, our longed for little ones and the names we were almost too scared to pick out for them. I remember my pregnancy with B, my BFP was two days after Easter Sunday and he was born two days before Christmas, I felt someone was looking out for me and him Smile

Talking of gorgeous boys that aren't mine Wink Grin mrsmoon and 4ever your boys are gorgeous, chubbing up beautifully and so happy and chilled looking. 4ever Teddy is so like his big sister, but his own wee man too Smile

lbm furniture purchasing - how goes it? I've been rocking gumtree this past week. Sold fitted Schrieber bedroom furniture we inherited with the house for £400 and promptly bought a beautiful second hand kingside wooden sleigh bed for £300 #kerching Grin I love a bargain me.

eek, it's 11pm, work tomorrow, night all xx

Rumours · 31/01/2014 11:26

Fabulous birth story shroom Smile Smile Smile

CloudOfStarlings · 02/02/2014 13:11

Amazing story shroom! Sounds like it was scary for a minute but so glad you got another chance to push her out! Well done you. Eek to stitches.. been there! Hope they're healing well.. drop of lavender oil in shallow bath helped mine.
Also know the feeling of being engorged! Horrible! I used to hand express a bit over the sink before feeding when it got like that.

Hope all other ladies are well! Happy sunday! I had my first mini eggs yesterday.. yuuuuummm

Amazing story Shroom. Hope all is going well. Bet Lily is changing every day.

I've sold my buggies and car seats in the past few weeks. No more babies here...

Hope everyone else is ok.

moonmrs · 06/02/2014 21:41

Tis very quiet lately. Hope everyone's ok.

Thanks blue for lovely comments on my little monkey. I love that you're posting again.

Aww neeko bet it was sad even though you knew there wasn't to be any more (that's not good English but I'm tired and it makes sense in my head Grin), but at least someone else can get good use out of them.

Nothing to report here, J doing well, loving his food even though he's only 20 weeks, he must have been so ready for it, really pleased hv advised early weaning now.

to everyone

Rumours · 08/02/2014 15:04

Hi I realise I don't post much now but I do lurk I promise Grin Grin
Life is just so hectic with my two. I wouldn't change them for anything, but boy does autism make things hard. Ds2 is very tricky just now, bless him, and I am just so tired all the time.
I feel better today because I slept while they were at school and nursery Smile .
ds2 is having his tonsils and adenoids out this week. Hopefully this will improve his sleep.

Onwards and upwards Smile Smile Smile

moonmrs · 08/02/2014 19:51

moonmrs · 10/02/2014 19:39

CloudOfStarlings · 10/02/2014 22:32

Ooh mrsK that sounds so lovely!! Your mum & sister are so lovely...will have to get them to whisper in my family's ear, my 30th is later this year Grin glad you had such a lovely time and yay for feeling movements that's just my favourite thing about being pregnant! Happy belated birthday :)

bluesatinsash · 13/02/2014 13:16

Happy Birthday mrskate Cake your day out in London sounded amazing and 30? Why you're just a baby Grin (and you cloud!). Lovely to hear you're feeling kicks too Smile

rumours how did DS2's ops go? Hope it makes a difference for you both. Sleep is the answer to pretty much anything IMO. How are things gearing up for DS2 and school this year? Will he be at DS1s? Hang in there you're an awesome mum xx

schoom. Hope you're still utterly on your babymoon, kissing all her fingers and toes xx

neeko I've still got the travel system but not for the want to trying to sell it!! eBay gumtree jack and Jill markets - it's back in the shed for the umpteenth time. Now the buggy though, not quite ready to part with it it would symbolise the end of the baby years too acutely . Saying that B still comes in most nights but he's too darn cute and he knows it. One of my friends said the other day "that boys so cute he would get a piece* at any door" Grin

*piece = Scots for sandwich

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all flood free, isn't this weather awful Sad. We're used to rain up here in Scotland but have thankfully never had it as bad as Suffolk and the Thames regions.

Roll on spring I want new shoes!

Neeko · 13/02/2014 16:10

Hi all. I'm confessing to lurking more than posting theses days too.

MrsKate happy belated birthday. That sounded like a wonderful treat. I was 30 when I was pregnant with dd1. I remember feeling cheated of champagne GrinGrin.

Cloud. You are still a young 'un Smile. Your posts always sound so cheerful. I bet you're a pretty optimistic person generally.

Rumours. Hope op went well and you are having more sleep. Sleep deprivation impacts on everything. You do seem to cope well though but it must be exhausting...ThanksWineand plenty of Brew for you.

Moon. Really glad the weaning is going well. Sounds like you're finding your way on the motherhood front. What's his favourite foods so far.

Blue having met your gorgeous boy several times, I fully concur with your friend. We still have one buggy that I intend to keep lots of interest in the travel system but no offers yet. Can't face reducing the price yet.

4ever. Hope all is well with you.

Shroom. Any chance of a profile pick of the girl of your dreams? Smile

moonmrs · 13/02/2014 23:20

neeko lurking or otherwise it doesn't matter, this thread has shown that no matter how often you post, everyone respects you just the same as the next person, and more than anything, whatever happens, everyone always comes back in times of need. I love being a part of it. And I love how it reminds me how many decent people there are out there.

J's favourite food by far is apple, he literally cannot get it in his mouth fast enough, it's hilarious to watch. I do feel finally that motherhood is suiting me, I thought at the beginning I was doing a rubbish job and I doubted myself, but now I'm enjoying it so much.

Neeko · 14/02/2014 07:49

Ah Moon. I feel like that often but the highs definitely make up for the lows, don't they?
Get some video footage of him with his apple if you can. It's lovely to have as they grow so fast and when he's about three and driving you crazy you can get a few minutes peace by letting him watch it. Both of mine have been fascinated with their baby selves at that age.Smile
