Donor IUI?

MinnieMooMoo · 09/10/2013 15:12

Hello! Just looking for a group/quiche to join but not really sure where I fit it.

I'm intending to go it alone and have Donor Insemination by IUI starting in January providing my investigations all come back clear.

Any one else in the same boat, or has done it alone in the past?

How you feeling kwick?nearly at a week already :) is it 2 until you can test?x

Kwick709 · 13/10/2015 21:56

Thanks for asking pickle Smile. My boobage has started to get tender - which is a typical pre-period symptom, I am not holding out much hope.... Last time I also started cramping - which has not happened yet. I am lucky because work is crazy busy so I have a lot of distractions. I am already pscyching myself up for another treatment. This time I will need to order soem more sperm so will have to be very quick off the mark. Last time I only bought 2 "straws", I think I will go for 3 this time. I will probably try ivf if iui does not work after 5 goes.
On the positive front by chance I was looking through Lufthansa's reward catalogue and found a great cot/baby bouncer/high chair combo...
Hope all is well with you!
Kx

pickle162 · 14/10/2015 19:59

Not long till you can do a test and find out either way but as you say at least you have work to provide a good distraction.
Haha I've found the pram/car seat combo thing that I want and cant even start trying for a while!!!oopsy lol x

Kwick709 · 14/10/2015 22:59

So I just found out that my friends sister's doctor advises her to orgasm the day of the iui (afterwards) as this can improve success rates!!! Something about an orgasm providing conducive conception environment....

pickle162 · 15/10/2015 17:22

Confused haha that's hilarious!! What ever works I suppose!!:)

pickle162 · 19/10/2015 18:51

Any news kwick?

Kwick709 · 20/10/2015 07:42

Thanks for checking up on me :) i am going to test tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which is actually a day before I should but the clinic agreed to this as I have to travel tomorrow pm to Paris and if I am pregnant they want to take bloods asap to see if I need additional hormones.... No sign of period but I did not have this last time either. I cramped a lot last time - this time no. I had sore boobage last time, this time also.... Who knows!! The suspenders are killing me!

Roonerspism · 20/10/2015 07:51

kwick best of luck!

pickle162 · 20/10/2015 20:25

Eeeek good luck!!! Keeping fingers and toes crossed!!!! x

Kwick709 · 20/10/2015 22:02

Thanks to you both for well wishes!!! I have my pregnancy test at the ready for tomorrow.... But am trying not to think about it too much! Night, night!

Kwick709 · 21/10/2015 05:56

Just tested... Not pregnant. I am very disappointed despite all my efforts to psyche myself up for this. Oh well best foot forward and all that.

pickle162 · 21/10/2015 07:15

Oh ??I'm sorry to hear that! Distract yourself with your trip and fingers crossed for next time xx

Kwick709 · 22/10/2015 21:08

So I decided to buy 3 straws this time of magic potion - but apparently there are only 2 in stock with 20 motility and 1 with 10... I have told them to go ahead and get them... Apparently there are still a million swimmers in the 10 motility one but they prefer to go with 20 or higher.... But I really want this donor.... God this is all so complicated and I feel exhausted from constantly thinking about everything... It is so definitely worth it but this second try has hit me hard... Especially as it is like de ja vu - I am in the same hotel as when it did not work the first time! I think I will forever associate this hotel with period pain!!!

pickle162 · 22/10/2015 21:43

:( it must be so hard, sending hugs!are you on medicated iui?have the clinic suggested ways to improve chances?and remember you sisters dr's advice this time :) x

Roonerspism · 23/10/2015 10:30

Huge hug kwick. I'm sorry - the disappointment is horrible.

Does your clinic review your file after each negative cycle? Were you happy with the timing?

Kwick709 · 23/10/2015 22:56

Not sure if a review happens... Let me ask tomorrow - going in for baseline scan. I was really happy with last time... Had lh surge, then next day did ovitrelle trigger and then day after did iui... But you know the success rate is very low. I do not know what medicated iui would mean but I do still want to do this as "naturally" as possible.
You just question yourself constantly... Like should I have flown off the very same day, should I have lifted my luggage, etc etc. i am going to try and get out of this funk as I know it is getting old!
Night, night.

Roonerspism · 24/10/2015 08:44

I know - it's horrible ???? I don't honestly think that lifting/exercise makes any difference.

IMHO though they timed it too late. They should have done the IUI the day after your surge as then the sperm would be waiting for the egg. If you saw an LH surge then the ovitrelle trigger wasn't necessary.....

pickle162 · 24/10/2015 08:44

Worth having a chat with person today, I think the medicated version of iui just helps your natural cycle...but not sure
I'm going to London women's clinic today for a seminar morning to find out more about donor insemination and ivf etc so might be able to understand more about it all.
Keep your chin up hun, hopefully these next few straws will be the lucky ones!
Where ru getting them from?abroad? Are they expensive to get 3@a go?

Kwick709 · 24/10/2015 17:35

Hi pickle162: I hope your seminar at the London Women's Clinic went well. I attended one of those a few months back.
I asked about a review and they do happen but not sure if my case has been reviewed. The 3 straws plus delivery was nearly £3k.... I am treating myself to a relaxing afternoon catching up on Downton and eating iced fingers...which are my new addiction!
Take care, kx

pickle162 · 24/10/2015 18:09

I really enjoyed the seminar,it was kind of what I'd read on Internet so glad that I'd done my research so it did make a bit of sense.
So the medicated version of iui from what I understood just helps to stimulate your follicles and can be timed a bit better.
Enjoy your weekend with downtown abbey :) x

Kwick709 · 25/10/2015 19:47

Glad the seminar was good. I have had a lovely day at the Om yoga show at Alexandra Palace. I spent lots of money... But it was a great atmosphere and I had a great time :)
Btw sorry I did not give you complete information before - CRGH uses Cyros which is a Danish bank. My donor is portuguese/danish... Closest I could get to Spanish extraction - which is what I am. I am CMV negative - which means I have a lot less choice...

pickle162 · 27/10/2015 21:54

Glad you had a nice day :) just what the dr ordered. Hope your feeling a bit better

Kwick709 · 27/10/2015 22:49

Much - thank you ?? i am off to Paris again tomorrow until Friday and then I think my travel stops for a couple of weeks... Just in time for my next treatment.... Although I have not heard that the "magic potion" has arrived yet!

Kwick709 · 27/10/2015 22:53

Just looked at my emails... Magic potion has arrived! So niw all I need is for my follicles to behave! Btw the two ?? Were supposed to be this :) above.

pickle162 · 28/10/2015 07:07

It'll be that time again really quick. Scary how quick the weeks are flying by! The lady at the seminar was saying nothing anyone does after the insemmination can cause it not to work not stress/travel/lifting just whether ur insides behave, which apparently female reproductive bits are badly designed.didnt mention the orgasm thing tho lol. Hope work trip is ok, I'm trying to peel myself out of bed, dark wet morning yay!!! I love Autumn/winter :( NOT. x
