Thanks bloumer, we dtd this morning too anyway, so will have another go tonight Wink

Also lessons you mentioned the fertility post-35 thing...earlier this year a psychology researcher called Jean Twenge was ttc and looked into where this oft-cited little nugget came from. Guess what she found?

This is from her article in the Atlantic in June this year (google it for full article):

"The widely cited statistic that one in three women ages 35 to 39 will not be pregnant after a year of trying, for instance, is based on an article published in 2004 in the journal Human Reproduction. Rarely mentioned is the source of the data: French birth records from 1670 to 1830. The chance of remaining childless—30 percent—was also calculated based on historical populations.

In other words, millions of women are being told when to get pregnant based on statistics from a time before electricity, antibiotics, or fertility treatment. Most people assume these numbers are based on large, well-conducted studies of modern women, but they are not.

Surprisingly few well-designed studies of female age and natural fertility include women born in the 20th century—but those that do tend to paint a more optimistic picture. One study, published in Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2004 and headed by David Dunson (now of Duke University), examined the chances of pregnancy among 770 European women. It found that with sex at least twice a week, 82 percent of 35-to-39-year-old women conceive within a year, compared with 86 percent of 27-to-34-year-olds. (The fertility of women in their late 20s and early 30s was almost identical—news in and of itself.) Another study, released this March in Fertility and Sterility and led by Kenneth Rothman of Boston University, followed 2,820 Danish women as they tried to get pregnant. Among women having sex during their fertile times, 78 percent of 35-to-40-year-olds got pregnant within a year, compared with 84 percent of 20-to-34-year-olds."

So it looks like we're ok! Grin

So, I've done another ov test and the line is barely there now, so I will keep on testing over the next few days, but I have changed my FF chart that I had a positive today and it's changed my BFP date to 6th November.
If it was positive yesterday, I'm glad we dtd this morning and Wednesday!

coco808 · 25/10/2013 21:34

Hi everyone! Can I please join the bus?
coco808 ttc#1 cycle 3 bfp??? one day??
Sorry no BFP date, last cycle was nearly 50 days and the time before that 34, so who knows?
Can't wait for next Friday to see the first BFP Smile

DearDinah · 25/10/2013 21:36

Hiya,
I've been doing opk's every day, afternoon and early eve to try and make sense of when I might ov. My past 3 cycles have been ridiculously long and are not regular at all, but I have noticed EWCM each time.
My latest OPK there was a definite second line, but still not as strong at the control line. I'm on CD16 and this is the darkest the 2nd line has ever been. I did buy some more expensive clear blue ov testers, would you say now is the time to start using them to detect exactly when my surge is going to be? My longest cycle so far has been 53 days, stopped pill end of May. I'm really in dark here!
Thanks for any advice :)

grobagsforever · 26/10/2013 08:16

Morning all. So sorry about your dog choccy. Dinah I am no expert on.OPKs.other than not bring a fan as they can give false positives. I think charting would be better for your erratic cycle. It's a pain waiting for them to settle isn't it?

I have a shameful confession to make. I POAS yesterday at only 7/8 dpo. With a first response no.less and not even FMU. I'm such a weak willed fool! Obviously it was a BFN. I'm now waiting until tomorrow to try again. I cant not do it! I'm going to need some ICs arent I? I'm trying to remember how many days dpo I was when I got a bfp for DD. I think I got a faint positive on 10 days dpo.

lucyfluff · 26/10/2013 09:51

Morning ladies!! I have news Smile AF has properly arrived Grin Grin never been so happy to see the witch lol but I calculated its been 27/28 days since last one was due so looks like the chem hasnt affected my cycle that much yippeeee!!!!! so pleased I can start tracking properly now Smile

sazzlehopes · 26/10/2013 10:05

Grobags that is fine! I just caught myself poas after I swore I'd wait til Tuesday. Needless to day it was a bfn on a diggie. I'm a wally!

onelifeonechance · 26/10/2013 10:11

Yey Lucy! Smile This is one of the few times I will ever cheer the appearance of AF Grin Glad everything seems to be regular, must be a big relief.

How's everyone else doing? Mama has af left you alone yet? We've started our sex plan Smile

mama31 · 26/10/2013 10:33

Hey onelife :) AF has left the building (well mainly) and also started our "sex plan" before DH left for work this morning :) feeling good!!! :) you doing smep??? Think we will prob do smep from now as don't want to miss the early ovulation of mine!!! How you feeling?

Lovely Lucy (you should so change your name to that) I am very happy that the witch has arrived for you! So you can get your "sex plan" in place very soon ;)

grobagsforever · 26/10/2013 11:15

SMEP?

sparklesandfizz · 26/10/2013 11:58

Have just returned from a wonderful holiday with the family in the sun.
Ate too much, drank too much and really relaxed away from work. Managed to dtd cd7,9,11,12,14,16,17 so hopeful that it may be our month. Only cycle 2 so trying to be chilled about the whole thing, now to the unpacking and washing....

ELR · 26/10/2013 12:41

Can you add me please.

lucyfluff · 26/10/2013 13:13

mama31 · 26/10/2013 13:48

Yes Lucy would love to be up the duff by Christmas for sure!!!! Let's make November bus a good one!!! :)

Choccywoccydodah · 26/10/2013 14:41

Hi ladies, you'll get used to us grobags GrinGrin

Well I believe I am right with the ov thing as my cervix disappeared right up my fanjo this morning GrinGrin
So with that, I ovulated 4 days earlier with b6 Shock I'm now taking 100mg so fingers crossed it helps my LP too and I will get a happy birthday bfp next weekend Grin

mama31 · 26/10/2013 15:09

Hey choccy! I might try upping the vitb6 to 100mg after ovulation, has this worked for you before now??

I ovulated early at Cd10 last month but was spotting by cd19 :/ only on 25mg b6 and upped to 50mg after ovulation so that obv didn't work :/ don't think I took enough so will try 50 up to 100 after ovulation this cycle. Oi feel like we have the same convos re b6 every time lol but we still have to discuss it!!!! It's just reassurance!!! Good luck!!! I will go by your outcome on the b6 as I won't ovulate til next wkend so will see how it impacts u!! Keep me updated please :)

Choccywoccydodah · 26/10/2013 16:04

Hi mama! This is my first month on b6, I've only started 100mg today as I assumed I ov'd yesterday or Thursday. I was on 50mg from af so am hoping it helps Smile

mama31 · 26/10/2013 17:51

Oh I thought it was you I've had these convos with!!! Maybe getting mixed up with Vjones!! Well good luck I will be keen to see how it works on your LP! I've also started 1000mg evening primrose oil for the pre af spotting and bought loads of actimel today to start as well, have heard lots of good things re the actimel. I am also on seven seas vits.....so if I get my bfp in November I shall have no clue whether it was down to fate, one or all of those vits!!! Haha! But I'm just trying everything I possibly can this month!!!

mrscookie78 · 26/10/2013 18:03

sorry ladies for hijacking your thread, I was recommended complete b, vitamin b complex by my friend who teaches ladies about trying to fall pregnant. I got mine from h&b, she said to try them to regulate my af. I was lucky, I only took them for a month. I still lurk on your threads waiting for your bfp's as I was on the bus with a few of you a few months ago Grin

mama31 · 26/10/2013 18:07

Thanks mrscookie! Hope you are having a good pregnancy!! :)

barmybunting · 26/10/2013 20:02

Can I ask more about B6? I seem to ovulate fairly late in my cycle, and I'm dubious that my LP is long enough based on my last cycle, waiting to see what this cycle does (OD6 now).

When do you start taking it? How much and how long for?

Thanks!

onelifeonechance · 26/10/2013 20:47

Grobags - SMEP=Sperm Meets Egg Plan, in a nutshell it's dtd every other day then when you get your peak on opk you dtd for 3 days in a row, skip a day, then back to eod, supposed to always mean there are little fellas waiting for the egg not sure where my little fellas have been going then, may need to buy then a sat nav Hmm

Yes Mama, aiming for smep, day one done! Feeling ok thanks, can't believe what a difference a few days makes, feel ok about it all, do you think it's because we're actually doing something towards it rather than just waiting? Not sure what it is but so glad that sadness has gone, it's so depressing and so not me! How are you hun?
