Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

I'm 34 Hungry, so definitely wasn't expecting to be perimenopausal, but cycles have been short for about six months now. Docs say not to worry, probably hormonal as I'm still BFing, but I'm keen to crack on with trying for no 2 ASAP before my body lets me down.

I'm sorry mrsm, I know nothing about the pill, but I bet DH doesn't actually think you're stupid.

Totally with those of you who say no1 is so entertaining that you're desperate for another. I think it's DS's cuteness that has finally convinced DH to give it a go.

mrsm22 · 05/10/2013 09:49

Hungry and ATruth - I am just turned 32. We are all good ages for conceiving baby number 2 so don't think any of us should have need to worry about that. My DH thinks we should test again in another couple of weeks as said same as you Hungry, it could be too early to show much HCG. I mean if I was pregnant I could only be a couple of weeks or even less. Anyway it's just do tempting to do a pregnancy test, I've now used the pack of two from tesco. My little DS is amazing too and like you both say, they are so interesting. I know my Ds would love a little one to help look after and play with. So on a brighter note, what are everyone's plans for the weekend ?
Lucyjojo - did I have a good holiday ?

Hi mrs, sorry you got a BFN today. I'd definitely test again in a few days' time, just to make sure. If it's still negative I guess it could have been ovulation? I've read that some women get a little bit of bleeding from that. Or it could be related to coming off the pill, though I'm no expert on that. (When I came off it to conceive DD I had one period pretty much on schedule and then got pregnant.)

I'm not feeling too good today despite a nice long lie in, think I'm coming down with a cold - again Angry.

We haven't got any big plans for the weekend - DH took DD to ballet this morning while I was still snoozing, and we are going to treat ourselves to a family meal at Pizza Express tonight, which means I won't have to cook!

HungryHorace · 05/10/2013 11:53

Ah yes, BF will bugger things up a bit, ATruth. There's a thread in Conception dedicated to trying to get pregnant while breast feeding due to the challenges it throws up.

We're all very impatient, aren't we? That's not a bad thing though as long as we don't go totally bonkers. :-)

Sorry you're feeling rubbish, Metalhead. Hooe you feel better soon.

mrsm22 · 05/10/2013 12:36

Hi Metalhead - sorry you don't feel great today. We have all just finished with colds although DH still has it a bit. Hope you feel better soon. I will try again and do another test maybe in another couple of weeks though.
We are an impatient bunch, yes but we are just ladies who know what we want! Enjoy Pizza Express Metalhead! No big plans this weekend for us, my DS is having a sleep at the moment and DH out on his motorbike.

I'm definitely coming on either today or tomorrow, I'm very crampy / achey.

Ah well, at least I'll have a better idea what's happening next cycle.

mrsm22 · 05/10/2013 19:31

Good evening anyone, does anyone have any exciting updates this evening. My pregnancy test is still in the bathroom from this morning. This is going to sound a bit strange but when I've looked at it again tonight(as been out all day with family) I think I can see a very very faint line, but it's really strange because you have to really look for it. I asked DH and he can see it too. The problem is that I don't know if it was there before I did the test. Would you get a very faint line if only just pregnant and not much HCG? I most probably am not pregnant as I'm sure the line would be a lot clearer and I'm not sure if I'm half imagining it. Perhaps just going crazy?! Anyway I have decided to do another test in a few more days but should I buy a better one, they say the clear blue one's give a very accurate result. Don't be excited about the faint line though as it's practically invisible, just strange that I notice it.

I meant to put Good evening everyone, not anyone. It's so easy to make mistakes on a phone!

OP posts:
ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 05/10/2013 19:37

Is there any colour in the line mrsm? I mean, any pink or blue or whatever colour it should be? I got a 'squint or you won't be able to see it' type line at the start of both of my pregnancies, but there was a definite colour to them. If there isn't, i'm afraid it might be an evaporation line. So you can see where the line would be iyswim. That's why they say to throw them away - so we can't torture ourselves!
I'd test again tomorrow if I was you because I'm so impatient Grin

mrsm22 · 05/10/2013 19:53

Ah ATruth - I'm not sure now! I wish I could show you it to get another opinion. Do they all have an evaporation like? I've never noticed one before and I always use this particular test. It is such a faint line that I can't really tell if it has a colour. Perhaps yes a very slight tinge of the colour it should be. I'm not convinced though as when I was pregnant with my DS the test had a thick and very clear line. Do you think I should do one tomorrow?

OP posts:
ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 05/10/2013 21:00

Well you could take a pic and put it on your profile? I'm all for checking out lines! I think one of the first mn threads I ever posted on was a poas/check out the line one Grin

I would definitely do one tomorrow (or now!), but I am seriously impatient!

mrsm22 · 05/10/2013 21:47

ATruth - I'm also really impatient. Unfortunately I can't do one now as my DS is in bed and DH working and I only bought two. I'll definitely do another test tomorrow or Monday morning. I've just had a little bit more bleeding too so not sure if this could still be implantation bleeding or the start of AF. With it being my first AF since stopping the pill, so not hormone induced it might start like this ( in drips and drabs) but I'm just not sure. Oh well can't keep looking at the test, I'll chuck it out. If I took a picture you definitely wouldn't be able to see the line so you are probably right about the evaporation like you mentioned. Ooh by the way, what is poas? People keep mentioning this abc I'm not sure.

OP posts:
ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 05/10/2013 21:55

poas = piss on a stick Grin

Maybe google images evaporation line and see what looks similar? Otherwise, find some patience (not sure where you'd look for that!) and wait until tomorrow.

FunnyRunner · 05/10/2013 23:13

I am sneaking into this thread, just kind of whistling and kicking some gravel about, while I try to make up my mind about having another DC. Because if I do, I want to start trying Dec / Jan. Holy f**k, that's soon Confused

Don't mind me everyone, carry on, as you were Wink

HungryHorace · 05/10/2013 23:15

Ooh, bloody hell mrs! You definitely need more POAS acto

HungryHorace · 05/10/2013 23:16

Bugger!

...action! How exciting :-)

No sign of AF here. Must be tomorrow now then. Wish it'd just get it over with.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 06/10/2013 07:01

Hi Funny. At this rate the others will all be upduffed by November so it'll be nice to have you keeping me company [pessimistic] Have you started on the folic acid?

Hungry, it sounds like you also need some 'poas action' Grin

HungryHorace · 06/10/2013 08:46

Hi Funny!

ATruth...I keep POAS but they all say no. :-/

I wish AF would just start if I'm not pregnant!

mrsm22 · 06/10/2013 08:50

Good morning all,
Hungry - have you got AF yet ? If not, this could be your lucky month
Funny - hello and welcome to our gang. What's your story, how old is your first DC and what do you have, a DS or DD? This thread has been very lucky so far with two BFP's already and we only started this thread at the beginning if September. Hope you'll join us.
ATruth and Hungry - I've still not done another poas (so glad I now know what you have all been on about). Not sure if i will do it today or tomo. Need to go get another pregnancy test. Will be so disappointed if no line at all on the next one. How's everyone doing today ? I honestly think if we are all a bit more laid back about it, it might just happen (very hard though )!

OP posts:
Metalhead · 06/10/2013 09:22

Morning all, and welcome Funny!

mrsm go on, do another test today, you know you want to! Grin Seriously though, if you can wait until tomorrow you'd probably get a more definite answer as hcg levels should double every 2 days, so if you are indeed pregnant you should get a clear BFP then. Fx for you!

I'm still trying to shake off this cold, maybe some fresh air will help; it's actually a nice sunny day here so will probably take DD out for a run around the park soon.

Kt1991 · 06/10/2013 09:27

morning everyone. hungry I haven't been using OPKs yet as I wanted to see how things would go naturally first as didn't do any of that In my last pregnancy and I fell after 3 months, so going to see what happens this month them will maybe get some, I don't want to get too obsessed and start to get a depressed about it. Make sure you go and buy some more tests today mrsm22! It may of been too early to pick up the result? I had that too in my last pregnacy result showed up two weeks after my missed AF. Welcome to all the newbies I've missed since last posting [smiles]

HungryHorace · 06/10/2013 09:45

It's not just no AF here, I've stopped feeling like it's imminent too!

I hope you manage to locate some S to PO, mrs! And I hope you're not left in my limbo.

CD30 now. Sigh.

mrsm22 · 06/10/2013 11:29

Hi Metalhead, Kt, ATruth and Hungry,
Metalhead - how are you feeling? It's nice and sunny here too so going to take DS out after lunch to a park. I think the fresh air would do you good. I have also read about the HCG levels doubling in 2 days so it would be better to wait unto tomorrow. I'm going to get a test today but somehow manage to not do it until tomorrow as it's also better to do it first wee of the day . Oh I really hope I am ! Fingers and toes crossed !
Hungry - think you should also have a go a poas if AF has still not arrived. We could both do it together tomo morning, what do you think?

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 06/10/2013 12:07

Definitely, Mrs. :-)

I'm wondering if my wee is never concentrated enough as I wee every time DD wakes up. Which is often. Or maybe I'm clutching at straws?!

My right ovary is aching again, but I still don't feel AF style crampy anymore.

Arrrgghhh.

Mrs, do you feel like you're going mental? I feel quite frustrated now. :-(

mrsm22 · 06/10/2013 12:21

Hi Hungry - yes I think I am going mental! Still haven't got rid of the test from yesterday morning and have been googling 'faint line on pregnancy test'. As ATruth said last night, it can be an evaporation line or a BFP but just faint because it's early and not a lot of HCG. Anyway have sent DH out to get me two more tests from tesco and going to do it first see tomorrow morning. Hungry I think you should too. What time do you usually get up? I'm up early every day with my DS and I'm not working til weds so I should do mine between 6am and 7.30am. I'm needing to wee a lot and my nipples looked lumpy this morning . Oh Hungry I bet I'm not. I bet it's just an evaporation line.
