Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

Congrats donnas, I think a line is still a line. Hoping your luck bestows bfps on us all..

It's been soooo frustrating not DTD for a week for these x rays. Tested to check still bfn a week ago so have been only doing 'alternative' entertainment to steer clear of risk till tomorrow. Think I will jump dh the minute he gets home.
Unlikely actually with 9 mo ds but I can dream. Still no AF, wondering also if bf is messing up fertility.

mrsm22 · 01/10/2013 20:27

Congratulations Donnas, I'm so pleased for you! Let us know tomo when you've done another test but as the rest of our gang say, a line is a line and you definitely wouldn't get a line, faint or otherwise if you weren't pregnant. Well done! xxx oh and Donnas is now the second from our gang to conceive so fingers crossed there's something in the air and it'll continue with the test of us. To say I only started this thread beginning of September, I'd say we are doing really well with two BFP's by early October! X

Stacks. - I was like you with that bloody awful hormone drip and my baby didn't want to come either so I ended up with epidural and forceps delivery (not nice at all ) but lovely pregnancy. I am a bit scared of birth again but next time I would like to try go with no pain relief, maybe bit of has and air . Hopefully no epidural at all.

Good luck Utopian for your X-ray's tomorrow, I hope all goes well and don't worry, you'll be back to DTD in no time!

My 'practically invisible' line is now standing at the top of the stairs shouting "DADDY!!!! DUDDDLE! MINE NO SLEEEEEEEEP" so I'm sticking with the 'line is a line' mantra donna Grin

stacks and mrsm - I was also induced and also reacted badly to the drip. I ended up having an emcs. If I'm lucky enough to get a second DC I'm going to try to agree to an elcs if LO hasn't arrived of its own accord by 40 weeks. I hate, hate hate the idea of another induction

mrsm22 · 01/10/2013 21:07

A few ELCS in here. I went into labour myself 12 days over with my DS and got to 5cm at home on my own quite easily but had an epidural when I got to hospital and it just stopped anything from happening. All went downhill for me after the epidural. Well I was hoping for AF to come tomorrow, being exactly 4 weeks off the pill and DH's bday ( not relevant but that's how I remembered it was 4 weeks since stopping the pill) so will see. Have had headache all day but that's probably just tiredness.

Random question but is everyone still drinking tea and /or coffee? I'm a big tea drinker but have read that it's bad when TTC.

I'm not taking this seriously enough am I?

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 01/10/2013 21:38

Am I allowed to ask if anyone has a gender preference or is that totally off limits on MN?

mrsm22 · 01/10/2013 22:17

ATruth - of course, you can ask anything in our gang. I have my DS and I 'd love another DS. Two little boys would be wonderful for me. But obviously to have a healthy and well baby is most important to me so as long as that's the case. My sister has 3 DD 's. What about you, what's your preference? I have had a bit if tummyache tonight , keep thinking 'could that be period pain ' but it bet it's not.

Congrats Donna! Let us know when you have POAS tommorow! And send some luck around to all of us! How's everyone else doing?

Metalhead · 01/10/2013 22:43

mrsm I'm still drinking coffee and wine, have just cut back a little. I refuse to put my life on hold for something that might take ages to happen... There'll be enough time for abstinence once I'm actually up the duff!

Atruth I'm in two minds about what I would like second time round. I'm a bit scared of boys as I know a lot of quite boisterous little lads, but on the other hand it might be nice to have one of each, and DD certainly has her diva moments! I guess I wouldn't really mind either way.

mrsm22 · 01/10/2013 22:47

Metalhead - a lot of truth in what you've just said, I think. I have cut the tea down a bit but at the same time would hate to not have a cup again and it ends up taking 6 months or more to conceive. Well Donnas has had some fantastic positive news tonight, let's hope it brings us all some good luck x

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 01/10/2013 22:57

I also have a DS and I do like the idea of 'the boys', but deep down I've always wanted a dd and would love one of each.

utopian99 · 02/10/2013 03:06

I know it's not done to be gender specific, but always badly wanted a ds. Now we have one I am genuinely happy either way for this next which is nice. I suspect dh would like one of each though..

SoMuchFruit · 02/10/2013 07:31

Congrats Donnas !!

I think Metalhead has a good attitude. I have similar. I am still drinking wine, tea and coffee but not as much.

As for the gender specifics. I have a fabulous DS and would love another one - he's amazing, but like others I would just love a healthy happy #2 first. Gender doesn't really matter.

HungryHorace · 02/10/2013 07:51

I'm still drinking tea. I don't drink coffee and don't often drink alcohol, but I will if I feel like it!

And as for gender, I don't really mind. Cost wise another girl would be better, but either or really!

Donna, is your line darker today?

donnas1984 · 02/10/2013 08:04

hungry ive ran out of cheap tests ive order 50 from amazon on sunday night when I was spotting as I thought it was af!
had to use the posh digital one so YES! im pregnant roughly 3-4 weeks so straight after getting implant out! So so happy Grin Grin Grin
thank you all for all your support this is an amazing thread I wish each and every one of you the bestbof luck! I'm hoping you will be joining me in May/June babies (need to sit down and figure this out lol) xxx

Metalhead · 02/10/2013 09:08

Great news donnas! Wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy, and hopefully we'll all be joining you soon on the June babies thread!

HungryHorace · 02/10/2013 09:10

That's fantastic news Donna!

I hope we can all migrate across to June babies with you soon!

BetterNotBitter · 02/10/2013 17:47

Ah lovely news donnas

mrsm I'm abit of a pregnancy health freak with stuff like that so I've switched to decaf tea & can't tell any difference in taste so I thought I may as well. I do love coffee but I am sticking to 2 cups max per day. Probably one during the 2ww when I actually could be preggers. I had a glass or two of wine over the weekend, but I was on my period so wasn't bothered. I wouldn't drink during the 2ww but I know that's ridiculously precious lol.

atruth if we were stopping at 2, I'd Like a boy next so we'd have one of each. If however I get my way & we have 3 then I'd love a girl so our little girl could have a sister close in age, I think that'd be lovely for them!

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 02/10/2013 18:02

Whoooop! Congrats donna

Thank you all for not flaming me about gender preference. I've also taken your good advice and cut down coffee and started on the folic acid.

Slight problem though - dh is taking drugs for a bad back that seem to be affecting things. Maybe next month...

mrsm22 · 02/10/2013 22:10

Congratulations again to Donna and I wish you all the best for a wonderful pregnancy. Please do pop in and see how we are all doing xxx

ATruth- I'm glad you've started on the folic acid. I started taking Pregnacare immediately when I stopped the pill, that one has the folic acid plus is a multivitamin. I don't drink or smoke or not had to cut anything out there and I don't drink coffee but I love tea . Trying to stick to just two cups a day and drinking lots of water. How long is your DH on those tablets?
Better - I'm also a pregnancy health freak. I wasn't keen on decaf tea though but maybe I didn't try the right one. Donna did well conceiving so quickly after stopping was it the implant.

OP posts:
utopian99 · 03/10/2013 20:28

I'm.still on the pregnacare bf pills which have the recommended folic acid dose too. Cut out alcohol during the last one so am still enjoying the odd glass here, but don't drink tea and swapped to filthy instant decaff while pg and never swapped back so that helps.. Still no AF though. Rafgfgg.

Apropos of that - what does AF actually mean? And 2ww?

lucyjojo · 03/10/2013 22:12

Hello all, how is everyone getting along?
A huuugge congratulations to Donna!! May you bring us mucho good luck!!
We've not been quite so active over in my neck of the woods, after learning about the bad things lube can do, DH being away a few days, then he got a cold, now I have a cold.....it's not been terribly productive! How is everyones enthusiasm holding up? I must admit mine is waning a bit, it feels to me like I will literally never be pregnant again, watching the midwives on bbc really isn't helping matters! Anyone else love to torture themselves with baby programmes?!
I gave up alcohol the first two months of ttc and cut down alot on coffee and tea, but I do need my coffee to function everyday, and I have become a bit more relaxed about it all now, not excessive, but I won't be cutting it out completely until i see a bfp!
I'm hoping for 3 (maybe 4?!) children one day, but it would be lovely to have a DS next.
