Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

Thank you BetterNotBitter - that is very helpful! So who knows , I may have ovulated somewhere in the last 3 weeks or may even be ovulating now . I just hope I'm not without AF for 5 months like I was first time I came off the pill to try for DS!
Metalhead - think you've done the right thing re the inlaws and the holiday! Let's hope u defo have a newborn then(not for the inconvenience of the holiday obviously)! Good luck to us all! I hate all this waiting x

Hello MrsSOAK - how are you? Sorry to hear your AF did show , after a few days late I'm sure you might have had your hopes up and also sorry to hear it's more painful and heavier. At least you are having AF though and therefore obviously you are ovulating! I wish I was having AF just to know things are back to normal. I thought about having a coil after DS and wish now that I had as it doesn't mess about with your hormones. Good luck for next month

Oh my goodness! I'd forgotten what proper pms/pmt was like after years of hormonal contraception!

I've been awfully moody & hormonal since Sunday, with intermittent cramps & backache too. My poor husband doesn't know what's hit him with my sudden snappiness. It's terrible!

The worst part about it is that it's means AF is imminent and so it's an even more bitter pill to swallow!

donnas1984 · 24/09/2013 19:49

Better
I'm the exact same Smile Sad Angry Thursday was the tears the followed by a weekend of bi-polar behaviour lol! Backache and cramps yday and today can only mean AF is just around the corner. Hopefully next cyle will be the one.
Would mean I can start with the opk's properly!
Anyone else getting symptoms of AF? (I hope not!)

Kt1991 · 24/09/2013 20:00

stacks I've been using the cheapy ones from amazon, but if I continue to get these symptoms and no AF I will buy some more expensive ones just to see! I had little bit of browny kind of stuff earlier this time. Sorry TMI but it was gone soon as I wiped!

MrsSOAK sorry to hear AF had arrived, always horrible when it's late and a lot heavier. Hope this will be the last one for you and then you can work out your cycle properly.

Kt1991 · 24/09/2013 20:33

Sorry another update. Looks like AF has arrived now Sad 9 days late too.

mrsm22 · 24/09/2013 20:37

Kt - sorry to hear that AF has arrived. Fingers crossed for next month x

Metalhead · 24/09/2013 20:47

Sorry to hear that Kt - at least now you can stop wondering what's happening. Better luck next cycle hopefully!

Kt1991 · 24/09/2013 20:53

Thanks mrsm22 and Metalhead good luck to the rest of you for this month!

donnas1984 · 24/09/2013 21:33

sorry to hear that kt. such a bummer Sad xx

BetterNotBitter · 25/09/2013 07:38

Aww no kt what a pain! 9 days late too.

Metalhead · 25/09/2013 07:45

Morning ladies! Well after last night I'm seriously tempted to reconsider my plans for a second DC... DD was screaming the house down for half an hour in the middle of night for no good reason, which meant I got so pissed off I couldn't go back to sleep when she finally shut up, so now I'm very sleep deprived and very grumpy! Angry No idea how I would cope with a new baby on top if that... sorry, rant over.

donnas1984 · 25/09/2013 19:37

Metalhead hope you have a better night tonight! It's murder when they're up through night, it is a put off. My dd is suffering from constipation and I feel utterly useless Sad ive tried getting her to drink fruit juice, warm water and shes been splashing in the bath for 40mins. Anyone any suggestions? xx

BetterNotBitter · 25/09/2013 21:18

donnas might be a bit late now as you asked hours ago but a teaspoon or two of brown sugar dissolved into some warm water might help. I wouldnt give it before bed though unless she's in pain through needing to go. Its usually pretty effective but often has somewhat explosive results.....

SoMuchFruit · 26/09/2013 10:48

Donnas Hope your LO is better now but if in case not, the brown sugar & warm water as better posted about was also something I used and it does seem to work (and yes, can be explosive!)

CD16 today for me today (assuming a 30 day cycle) and still DTD eod. We have always had a fairly lively sex life but it's like being rampant teenagers again Grin

donnas1984 · 26/09/2013 12:10

somuchfruit go you! my dh has been nigh shift all week and im still symptomatic for Af would have been convenient for it to show this week!
Thanks for the advise better! Dd still not great will try the sugar water but shes not eating or drinking muchSad.

mrsm22 · 26/09/2013 13:42

Hi Metalhead - sorry to hear about your DD keeping you up in the night. If it's any concellation, my DS won't sleep in his own bed at the moment and is in ours (makes DTD slightly more difficult)! We are thinking about getting him a single bed this weekend.

Hi Donnas - is your DD any better with the constipation? Again, like the others have said I think plenty of water and fruit juice is great. i hadn't heard about the sugar so will bare that in mind.

How is everyone else? It is 3 weeks now since i've been off the pill and no symptoms or anything, so the wait continues.

Somuchfruit - Know what you mean, we are DTD a lot at the moment although not since monday night this week as exhausted wit work and had difficulty getting DS in his own bed so it's been 3 in a bed.

Hello!

I think I'm going to win the most mental poster prize as DD is just 3 months old and we are TTC number 2!

My first cycle after my bleeding stopped was a ridiculous 17 days. I'm now on CD20 of cycle 2 post-pregnancy and I've no idea if / when I OV'd. I had OV pain when TTC DD, but none so far this time.

We are DTD every 2-3 days and have been since CD7. No mean fear with a baby who's still up twice a night for feeds!

Sorry for recent BFNs for people. Fx we all get lucky soon.

Oh, the reason we are hurrying for number 2 is that I'm 37 in November, so want to crack on with it!

Metalhead · 26/09/2013 18:56

Good god HungryHorace, you must be mad! Shock When my DD was 3 months sex was still too painful to even consider doing it more than once a month, if that... still, good for you!

I had ovulation pains the last couple of days, and then what I think was an almost positive ov test this lunchtime, so although it seems a bit early considering my recent cycle lengths (I'm CD14 today and average cycle has been 33 days) I think I might be about to ovulate. Just hoping DH won't be too tired for a quickie tonight as Thursday is his busiest day at work...

HungryHorace · 26/09/2013 19:35

Good luck persuading DH, Metalhead! :-)

And yes, I must be insane. I regularly think the same at 3am when DD is screaming! Ah well, we don't want her to be an only, so TTC is the way forwards.

Also, if I got pregnant this or next cycle I don't have to go back to work. I would go from mat leave to annual leave to mat leave! Come on body, don't let me down. :-)

donnas1984 · 26/09/2013 20:01

Hungry welcome! good for you being so decisive! My dh nagged me for months before I agreed. Today I found out another mummy from toddler group is expecting so that's now 5 people pregnant again! Just hoping that there is something in thw water haha!
Also dd still not right direct care gave me some some mild laxatives hope they help Sad

utopian99 · 26/09/2013 20:23

Good work Horace! We were going to start at 6 months then put it off due to house circumstances. Semi wish we had now - been TTC for 2.5 weeks so already assuming it'll take yars...

utopian99 · 26/09/2013 20:24

Oops spelling fail. I don't think in months and yars!

HungryHorace · 26/09/2013 21:09

DD is currently constipated, Donna, so I feel your pain. I hope your DD feels better soon and the laxative works.

Utopian, hindsight is great, isn't it? :-/ I hope you have success soon.

SoMuchFruit · 27/09/2013 03:20

Blimey Horace that's bonkers impressively keen! FX you get your BFP. I didn't get back onto that particular horse until DS was 4mths I think if DH had suggested that we ttc I would have pummelled him!

I'm 38 and DS is 4. I didn't really really want to ttc until this summer. If it had happened great but if it didn't, not a problem now of course, it's not happening..

Donnas / mrsm22 - it's tiring but it's reminding us of our yoof Grin

And yes. It's 3.19am, I am watching SVU and on MN. Just can't sleep. At all.
