And you can't beat hammering a bloke at any game of their choice wish Grin Up the tomboys! I am mega competitive so it's probably a good thing that we do not have a games console in Brook towers!

Stars, Euro, Nobeer, Missmidden, Wannabe, Wishwash, I just have to mention you to say thanks for welcoming me and thinking of me. Haven't really talked to many people about my IVF so it is nice to get on board and have people think of me.

Stillhoping, I completely get the feeling of just wanting to get the IVF show on the road. The anxiousness of waiting can just add to the trauma! My body kepts getting cysts after my last IVF and I kept having to wait cycle after cycle for my ovaries to recover before I could go again. It was excrutiating. Any further decision on when you will start?

Llw, is this your first IVF? Do you have any idea how many eggs you are likely to get? Good luck.

Lifeasafish · 18/09/2013 07:17

Morning all, hope you are all well and not too down. I've been lurking from time to time while on the move so haven't been able to post but I suspect the reason for the feeling on the thread is because with infertiliy, if you ain't cycling you are probably on another endless wait.

Thank you to the person (I forget) who posted the review questins, I added some to my own. Pram - thats for the reccy, I will be in touch with the poster and I hope you are well, look out for a PM as I want to know how you are doing.

AFM:
The review, the clinics opinion is that my cycle was mixed due to great results but bad control, they use 1st cycle as a test to gather knowledge and are pleased with the amount they got from me. I did have mild OHSS but the coasting was not ideal as it was for so long (6/7 days IIRC). This destroyed many of my eggs, probably at least another 14.
However, they are over the moon that they got above average good quality eggs in spite of the coasting.
Spunk fine, rates of fertilisation normal, egg quality on the high side, in their opinion miscarriage is sheer bad luck and they won't start to worry about genetics/immunes unless I have another. I respond too well to drugs so next fresh cycle would be short protocol, very little stimulant, another set of close checks. I guess like euros medium cycle.

I'm currently waiting for my next period (est 8th oct) to do a natural FET. I may need my cervix dilated for ET as I've a dodgy cervix apparently (its scarred and they have hell getting the transfer thingy in). We will transfer 2 if available, I'm doing Acupuncture (thanks for the reccs) and I'm currently consoling mrfish who was thinking of training as a professional injector. NO DRUGS!

I'm excited, nerves will come later. I've decided that this cycle will work as well as there is no point in preparing for the worst and I'm not a full believer in temping fate. Actually its probably fake optimism I am a natural pessimist but that just sucks energy. I'm also planning on seeing a spiritualist as my local pub is having their regular clairvoyant evening. just before as last time I saw one I was Impressed (many, many moons ago).

Edit - I was going to scrap last last bit as I sound like a desperate nutter, but I figured it would raise a laugh. I am being perfectly truthful though.

BrookerC · 18/09/2013 07:35

Dashing about so will catch up properly later but sounds like a really comprehensive review fish. It's good to hear you are feeling so positive. Fwiw I think it really helps too. x
Welcome shell Smile

nobeer · 18/09/2013 07:37

Hi Life, nice to see you again. I'm going to be watching your natural FET with interest as I think that's what we're going to do in November. Did they say what were the pros and cons of a natural vs medicated FET were?

Our clinic thinks we should do the genetic testing on the embryos. I'm still thinking about it because Miss (I'm not blaming you if it sounds like it!) said that maybe immune issues might be worth looking at. I've ordered the Dr Beer book so I'll have a look at that then contact my clinic for another chat.

Have fun this evening. I must admit I'm a bit sceptical about them, but then I love the series Medium so do have a bit of a fascination. Please report back on that too!

Lifeasafish · 18/09/2013 07:56

noobeer no difference in results. But medicated is likely to be done for a reason so the idea that it matches success rates for natural means the drugs increase the success rates for those couples.

My periods are clockwork and youth (blah, blah, my grey pubes tell otherwise) means no benefit in medicated.

The cycle is (for those interested).
21 day bloods to ensure ovulation
Contact clinic on day period starts
Ovulation tests and scans to look for ovulation
ET during 3-day ovulation window
I may be knocked out for ET though.

brooker i do too. It really got me through my cycle as in retrospect it wasn't easy at all even though I coped fairly well with burselin, remember it was nearly abandoned and was continued at the very last minute. Its not my usual MO (intensive therapy has reduced my pessimism) so is new learnt behaviour!

I'm really sorry I'm not posting much I feel guilty but there is a lot happening in my real life and my energies are being refocussed! I do read and will post if I can share advice.

Missmidden · 18/09/2013 09:27

Good luck for today Llw, hopefully it is nearly all done now so enjoy resting up if you can.

Life that sounds like a pretty good review and great you can go to FET so soon. Thanks for the info on your protocol. I think mine will be a way off yet but I shall follow yours with interest and here's hoping for a happier outcome.

Nobeer I have sent you a PM.

Hi to everyone else- work is very busy at the mo so am struggling to keep up! I should be pleased but my career has chosen this year to really take off which is very inconvenient given how distracted I am with IVF!

twinklestar2 · 18/09/2013 10:19

Hi everyone, I don't post very much as there's not much to report.

Just wondering if anyone has had the scratch and how you feel afterwards. Will I be up and about the next day as I have a busy weekend. Scratch is on Friday.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 18/09/2013 11:37

Sorry I've been very absent, but I am in the middle of natural FET, and thought I'd add my protocol to the mix. My cycle was dildocamming day 8/10/12 to monitor follie growth, trigger cd13, ET cd19, no other drucks.

My frosties were frozen on 4dpEC/O, returned on day 4. The first one they tried defrosted okay so still 5 in the freezer and had reached early blast by transfer this morning, which I think is pretty good. I am funded, so just the one for now. Fingers crossed...

Big waves to all of you, and I might try a proper catch up later.

twinklestar2 · 18/09/2013 11:39

Good luck lemon!

nobeer · 18/09/2013 12:24

BrookerC · 18/09/2013 13:09

Good luck lemon
Twinks I had a scratch in June, just before cycle 2. It was a very simple procedure & took about 10 mins in total. I had extreme short term pain far worse than anything else I've had to encounter during ivf -lasting a few minutes. Although, I have read a lot of women having very little pain at all. I was ok to go back to work that day (I had the scratch at 9am & was at work before 11). I took paracetamol before & after as advised by the clinic. After the initial trauma pain, it was just mild cramping for the day. It may have been rough for 5 mins but I'd have another one, no question (as failed cycle 1 was put down to implantation).
Hope that helps Smile

twinklestar2 · 18/09/2013 14:06

Thanks brooker :)

Stillhopingstillhere · 18/09/2013 17:45

What is a scratch? Sorry for my ignorance.

Diabetes team have said I'm good to go but Sod's law I've ovulated today, despite having 28 day cycles 99% of the time! It's 5 days early which means if I cycle in October dh will likely be away on crucial egg collection day. So might have to delay until November after all. Can't decide if I'm cross or relieved.

twinklestar2 · 18/09/2013 18:22

Still - google endometrial scratch :)

Stillhopingstillhere · 18/09/2013 19:06

Ahhhh, I see.
Sounds hopeful in terms of pregnancy chances!

eurochick · 18/09/2013 19:18

still given everything else you have posted about timing, that might actually be a good thing!

Stillhopingstillhere · 18/09/2013 19:31

This is true Euro...maybe it's a sign?! Don't really belive in signs but maybe it is one!

I felt better after speaking to the diabetes consultant, she is one of the very few healthcare professionals I trust. Mainly I think they don't know what they are doing.

chocolocodowninacapulco · 18/09/2013 21:00

Hello lovely ladies, sorry for radio silence. I've been lurking every day and willing you all on!

llw how was EC? Waving to everyone.

I hear you on the feeling fed up thang, it's the waiting and the not knowing that are the killers. I'm meant to be doing a mock cycle, but feel really uninformed and lost! Spent 15 mins on the 'phone to the nurses being put on hold several times trying to arrange a scan and trying to explain (without getting really fucking irate) that I could only do a Saturday as work have told me no more IVF time off, what does nurse say? ' we need you to come in tomorrow' me: as I said, I Can only do Saturday ( on hold for another minute) ' can you do Friday?' FFS - I nearly lost it [feeling hormonal]. Scan on Saturday and then who knows what?!

Llw2 · 18/09/2013 21:37

Hello all thanks for all the messages of support, EC was ok. The tricky ovary lived up to expectation and consultant couldn't get to it so only 6 eggs taken out. I'm assured this is ok but it didn't stop me having a good cry (I blame the anaesthetic!), I don't know why I got so upset. I think it was just 11 became 10 and now we are at 6, every step feels like a step further rather than nearer! Been in bed all day watching the scum bags on Jeremy Kyle have paternity tests after one night stands in parks-grrrr! Feel like I've been kicked by a donkey as one of you lovely ladies said I would so off to bed for a sleepless night before the embryologist calls tomorrow.

Choc can your work say no more time off for ivf? That seems horrendous !

wishwash · 18/09/2013 21:47

Jesus choc I don't know how you kept your cool. I would have got so pissy. I am feeling much more sensitive though, crying one minute, fuming the next! Grrr! I punched the ironing board tonight because I stumped my toe on it. What's wrong with me?!

I know it may not feel like it llw but congrats are in order. You got 6 eggs! That's a nice number so be chuffed. Were they all mature? Hopefully the embryologist will call with good news tomorrow. Good luck x

AFM, I went for my down reg scan today and all is nice and thin. I was told to start my Progynova today which I did (3 tablets a day) so by the time id taken 2 I see I have a voicemail. It was the clinic telling me to hold off on taking the Progynova until Friday! Grrr. She said its no biggie if I've started already but it's annoying that the nurse told me the wrong info. I think it's because if I start now I won't 'land' on the correct day for the doc to be around for FET. No idea what happens now! Angry

wishwash · 18/09/2013 21:49

P.s choc that does sound a bit awful that work have told you that you can't have any time off? Are they allowed to do that?
