iwant I am near Coventry so have acupuncture at a clinic there. Where are you based?

I find acupuncture really really useful. It works on natural energy flows and when I am a few treatments in my nails grow, my hair shines, I sleep well and my periods become light and painless. I think it just encourages balance. And doesn't hurt at all.

Tue Drs at nurture are lovely. Reine-fenning did my 3d scan and was really nice. Dr jay was also nice and the nurses are epic. Have you met Michelle the nurse yet? She is sooooo nice she makes me cry. A lot. I could gush about them all day BUT my last clinic were awful.

nobeer I was told over the phone to keep taking them and I did a nod and murmur approach. I'm the same when they mention it.

Well meaning doc: 'Are you taking the folic acid?' Patronising nod.
Silentfishvoice: 'why, what the fuck for? I've taken so many I can shit a block of folic acid and for so long that boots changed the packaging twice and the bastard non-diffing tub laughs at me each morning, now pass me the gonal-f' Angry

Lifeasafish · 11/09/2013 22:52

tame is it wrong that the vanity side of me thought - I'd better get that sorted asap for shiny hair and pretty nails...

IWantOneNow · 11/09/2013 22:57

tame I actually live in Nottm so I'm very lucky. I'm seeing an acupuncturist who is connected to the zita west stuff in Nottm so I think I should be in good hands, initial consultation next week, never done it before but strangely looking forward to it! Hmm. Perhaps I'm a little strange Wink
Hi to everyone and good night, hope u all sleep well x

tametortie · 12/09/2013 06:48

My folic acid has been upped to 5mg so there is no avoiding that bad boy. I have had to get ny GP to do a prescription for it.

nobeer · 12/09/2013 07:43

that's what I'm on, tame.

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one that 'resentfully' takes their pre conception tablets every day!!! After my bfn I did miss a few days here and there as some kind of statement (god knows what?!) too.

Anyway, how is everyone today? Smile

eurochick · 12/09/2013 10:09

When I get asked if I am taking folic acid, the asker gets a withering look and a response of "I have been taking it for three years" through gritted teeth.

Annoyingly though, I think Pregnacare did more for my nails than the acu. They used to split and break really easily but they have been wonderful since I have been on the tablets and grow really quickly. I guess I must have been lacking in some trace element or other for years.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 12/09/2013 10:43

I did that too, after my mc it took me ages to get back into taking folic acid and now after the chem diffment it took a week or so. But if I am not cycling, I don't feel the need to take the pot of bloody TTC failure with me, when we go away for the weekend...

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 12/09/2013 10:44

And hi, I am a shitty egg-buddy, probably triggering tonight for a FET next week. Busy with work and not much on MN. Sorry!

Badhairday76 · 12/09/2013 11:15

Sigh. I've only just started taking the Pregnacare again too. And I've drank wine every night for the past nine days. Going to knock it on the head for a bit now though. I am still having awful dreams and crying alot but am going back to work next week and impatient to start IVFing. I am aware that I am probably being irritating with the incessant questions but if you aren't an NHS patient, how long do you have to wait before you can start at most clinics?

I've just been reading Closer magazine which is full of pregnant celebrities. Halle Berry and Gwen Stefani are both having babies in their 40s. I wonder if they had fertility treatment? My maternal grandmother had my mum aged 46 and was in shock since she was already a grandmother of two at the time. My mum is a living miracle. I hope we all get our miracle babies soon. Love to everybody xxx

eurochick · 12/09/2013 12:09

bad there are waiting times on the HFEA website. Most clinics I have looked at in London say no wait for private patients.

Badhairday76 · 12/09/2013 13:21

Thanks euro - you are right. No waiting list. Hope everybody is having a good day.

nobeer · 12/09/2013 13:37

Ooh exciting LemonDrizzle! I'll have my fingers crossed for you. xx

My day's going ok, but knackered after a bad night's sleep. I'm making lentils for lunch. chorizo, lentils, veg, tomatoes etc.

Hi all. Trying to rejoin the world but there has been so much chat on here it's hard to keep up! Firstly thank you all for being so kind after my miserable news on Monday. I think I am probably getting over it quite well, although have some low moments. Tame you said something about slithers of normality perking you up and I totally agree- I feel almost ecstatic after a witty conversation at lunch with colleagues! Sadly the feeling tends not to last long.
Mary how are you doing? I hope AF shows up quickly and glad you have had a review already.
Life I will be following your review with interest and I think Fab has one soon too? I hope you get what you need from them.
Lemon good luck with the trigger if it is tonight.
Loads of other people with stuff going on but I have slightly lost track- very sorry!

I enjoyed the discussion on taking folic acid but confess to being way more cavalier than most of you- as it's a water solvable vitamin I understand it isn't stored in the body so you only need it when you could actually be pregnant. I have only ever taken it between ovulation and AF Blush. Much the same with caffeine and alcohol too- I have cut down but refuse to cut anything out in a rather irrational goading my body to get pregnant sort of way!

I'm also ploughing my way thorough the Dr Beers book and becoming more and more convinced I have an immune issue. His stuff is controversial but he said that they are common in women who have had one child naturally and are then infertile- and he found this group hardest to treat Sad However I fear I am going to have a battle to get it taken seriously by the clinic as most will only test after 3 IVF failures or 2 miscarriages. Has anyone else on here gone down this route? Tame was it you who said you had high NK cells? How did you go about looking into this?

We are off camping (even though it's bloody cold and wet!) tomorrow for the w/e so will try and remain more up to date after that.

Stillhopingstillhere · 12/09/2013 16:33

Hi
Wishing you all the luck in the world drizzle

I am feeling torn over whether to start my first cycle in October when dh will be away for the first week (but back just in time for egg collection) or whether to wait until he is here in November. I am scared of doing it on my own and don't really want to go and get the medication etc on my own. On the other hand if will be hanging over me another month if I wait.
What do people who've had experience of this think? Will I be ok on my own?

dharmabum484 · 12/09/2013 16:55

Hi,
My partner and I have just started the IVF process. My partner is egg sharing eggs with myself and an anonymous recipient. Yesterday I had my Gonapeptyl injection at the clinic and I started injecting my partner (who is terrified of needles!) at home with a down regulating drug. All being well egg retrieval will take place during the week of the 30th September and ET shortly after that. I was just looking for people going through similar things at the moment, so I am pleased to see this thread!

nobeer · 12/09/2013 17:00

Still I did most injecting on my own and I was fine. But it's your choice. You will need someone to be with you after EC - and you might need some time resting and being looking after so DH had better be prepared!

Miss glad to see you, been thinking of you. Good luck with your clinic, I hope they take you seriously and do some more tests on your immune system, I've no idea what that involves. If my next FET doesn't work I think I'll need to get that Dr Beer's book great name too.

Dharma welcome! Your partner will soon get over her needle phobia! It's not much fun but I looked at each injection as a step closer to getting pregnant. You soon get into the swing of things. Good luck!

Engines at the ready.......and we're off! AF made her appearance today, so i phoned the clinic and have my appointment to get the drugs - i start my Buserilin on 2nd October - does that make me about 6 or so days behind you Thoughful?
Camping Miss? You're brave in this weather Confused - good luck. And i know what you mean about laying off the wine and stuff now. Actually i wanted to ask a quick question to you ladies - when you say you don't drink etc during cycling, when do you consider 'cycling' to start. Is it day 1 when AF starts, or is it day 21 when you start injecting (looking to see if i can sneek some more days of wine in before having to become a nun! Wink)

Stillhopingstillhere · 12/09/2013 17:14

Welcome Dharma.

Thanks nobeer. I'm not scared of injecting myself, more that there will be immediate side effects. But there shouldn't be should there?
I'm hoping to be back to normal the day after ec, is that optimistic?!
Really can't see myself doing this more than once. I am not good with medical procedures, I am a wimp.

IWantOneNow · 12/09/2013 17:20

Hello to everyone .

Did anyone watch the prog last night: Sex: a Horizon Guide? Miss It really was quite interesting. It only had a little piece on IVF, but what it did have a lengthy piece on was a lady who just kept miscarrying constantly. She eventually found that she had a hereditory issue with chromozomes (if i remember correctly). In the end they extracted a cell from each of the eggs retrieved to see if the eggs carried the chromozomes or if they were free from the damaging chromo's. They found 2 that were free from the damaging chromos and transfered those back - she now has twins!!! Just thought i'd mention it in case you fancied watching it on catch up TV or something.... Smile x

nobeer · 12/09/2013 17:39

still I was worried about side effects as I have had horrific reactions to (unrelated) medications before, but I was fine. DP had my friend's number who has a spare key, and he rang me lots. But no strange rashes or anything and no emergency phone calls were needed!
