Sorry the little fuckers are fucking with you Ll! Have you tried injecting them super super slowly? We did that (in the tum) and it made a massive difference plus I had virtually no bruises whereas first time round I was covered in them.

Euro - cuddles.

Brooks - smug - yes! All from my garden Smile

tametortie · 09/09/2013 22:17

euro will be interested to see the results of that. I've not done gluten free before. Im finding it very easy UNTIL I eat out. Then its awful. An absolute nightmare. Amazing how many restaurants dont know what they are serving!! Hmm

nobeer · 09/09/2013 22:20

Miss and Mary I'm gutted for you both, and it hurts so much (mentally I mean). Normal to cry and glad you can share with your sister and friend. I felt loads better having a good old cry and sharing with friends.

I'm not cutting out anything at the moment but I did have rice cakes at lunch time . Will wait for my review on Friday and see what time frame they suggest. Is there anything I should ask them re the failed FET, my wise friends? And what can I do better next time round?

Has anyone ever had strange symptoms post cycle? I had cold sweats yesterday evening and a migraine started in the middle of the night. Sad

tametortie · 10/09/2013 09:28

nobeer my acupuncturist reckons the drugs can stay in your system for a few weeks after your cycle and weaken your general health. Simple things like lots of water, early nights and eating well can clear your system. Make sure you are taking it easy xxx also, try some lemon in hot water in the morning to detox your system.

starsandmoonandback · 10/09/2013 14:51

Hey! Who asked if I was married to their boss?!!! LOL! Was it you Res?? If it was, don't worry, my Dh is not a boss, just a mere nurse in the NHS with many bosses above him! So o think you're safe! Lol! How are you feeling today? Any better?

Euro, I've done similar in terms of caffeine 3 cycles we caffeine free and the last 2 were semi free bit not completely. I've never drunk through tx apart from this last cycle when I had a couple of glasses of wine. I've found it harder to give up caffeine as each cycle goes by as I suppose I start resenting my life being on hold so much for ivf that isn't working!! But if this next cycle is going to be my last try I think I need to think hard about these things. Do those who are caffeine free, only do it during a cycle or do you believe in giving up a few months before as caffeine can build up in our system, so I've heard?? It's so hard to know what will make the difference - if only we had a crystal ball eh?! Wink

Tame, good luck with your gluten free diet. A close friend of mine did that and was successful with her 7th cycle and now has 8 month old twins! She swears it helped.

Nobeer, how are you feeling. Migraines suck. I get hormonal ones sometimes around ovulation but mostly just before af arrives. Hope you are feeling a bit better? These hormones are pretty strong I think. My Dh was saying he doesn't like how they make me so ill every time I take them. I'm sure I wasn't so immune compromised the first couple of cycles I did, bit hey, can't remember back then too well!

Lw, when I first injected Menopur it hurt like hell! I found pushing the plunger really slowly, and in stages, like 1cm each little plunge, this I found made it hurt less. If its hurting putting the needle in, I fund it was really important to out the needle back in the vial top through the same whole made the first time round as otherwise it blunts the needle and really when jabbing it in. Hope that helps..oh and I inject in my thighs! Don't know if makes any difference to the pain or not though!

Brooker, I've brought some gluten free salmon and cucumber sandwiches, for us all, can you provide the coffee (or wine!?) please BrewWineWink

Fab, yummy blackberry Bakewell tart! Cn we have some of that after the sarnies, d'ya think?! Wink

Wish, hope af shows up soon so you can get started. Wishing you lots of luck for your FET Hun.

MaryP, sorry for your official news today. Even though you were expecting it, it hurts Hmm hugs.

Miss, how are you today? I'm so sorry to hear your news. You must be feeling pretty devastated. Life can be so unfair. Hugs.

Bad hair, twinks and anyone else I've missed, how are you all today?

I'm not gluten free, but I have joined slimming world online!! I need to lose about half a stone I guess or a little more, but thought it was a healthy eating plan that you can do when pregnant so I'm thinking positive! Lol! I seem to be eating lots though, and not convinced ill lose weight, but ill see after a week when I weigh myself! Worrying now as I've eaten a lot of wholemeal pasta so far and that has to be packed full of gluten!

nobeer · 10/09/2013 15:28

stars I'm feeling headachey and sweaty. I'm wondering if after taking all the hormones pre and post FET, and then suddenly coming off them has had some kind of withdrawal effect. I usually get a migraine just before or just as AF is finishing. But I finished last week. I'm going to ask the clinic about it on Friday. Taking it easy today. Good luck with the weight loss!

starsandmoonandback · 10/09/2013 16:39

Nobeer, you poor thing. You could ring your clinic still today if you want to ask about it before Fridays apt. Xx

Badhairday76 · 10/09/2013 17:35

Am just checking in to say hello and to thank you all again for being so welcoming to me. You are all such wonderful ladies - it's awful that we are in this situation yet you are all soooo kind and supportive of everybody here. I hope SO much that you all get your longed for babies. Any child would be lucky to have any of you as their mothers. Hugs and thanks to all of you xxx

Badhairday76 · 10/09/2013 17:48

Can I please ask you a question about Accupuncture? So many of you seem to be doing this and I know so little about it. Why is it helpful during IVF? Am a complete novice as to its benefits. X

Stillhopingstillhere · 10/09/2013 17:52

Hi everyone,

So ds has started school and I'm feeling kind of at a loose end. Feeling guilty that dh is working and I'm just at home- although ds still half days for a little while.
I'm trying to tell myself to use this time to get healthy (am currently underweight and probably not very fit despite being too thin) and get my house tidy and all those jobs I've put off for four years done! However I'm actually feeling very anxious, I'm torn between wanting it all to be over and wanting it to never begin... I have a consultation with my diabetes specialist next week so will discuss with her the best way to do egg collection and what affect the hormones are likely to have.

I wish dh was going to be here when I start the treatment, even if he is useless. I could put it off until November but I feel like it's just hanging over me, at least when we have to do this again I will know a bit more what I'm doing. The fear of the unknown is the worst thing at the moment I think.

At the moment I still feel in limbo, do I keep the baby stuff that keeps upsetting me every time I see it or do I get rid? Do I start looking for a job now ds is at school or do I wait? Can I make plans for a holiday or not? It all just feels up in the air.

Pipbin · 10/09/2013 22:50

Quick sticking my head round the door. Sorry for lack of personals.

So sorry to hear your news Miss. I honestly don't know what to say.

Here at Bin Towers we had our review today and the consultant said that we need to wait a couple of cycles. Ultimately we can start again in December.
One thing the consultant said is not to take any multivitamins. Folic acid and vitamin c only but no preconception multi vitamins. She agreed with what DH has been saying that multivitamins are dangerous. All clinical trials so far have had to be stopped before completion because they have been so dangerous health.
Of course it is up to you guys to make your own minds up but look into it before taking a multivitamins.

tametortie · 10/09/2013 23:01

Dangerous in what sense pipbin? Did she say? Xxx

resipsa · 11/09/2013 07:17

Oh still the baby stuff...it is really getting to me at the moment, especially cause we have just moved DD out of the high chair and cot for ever. We haven't really got room for it but I can't think of getting rid. I really thought we'd be using it again by now.

Badhairday76 · 11/09/2013 07:36

I feel exactly the same about the baby stuff. I keep putting my son's clothes into storage and cant help wondering 'what's the point?' We only have a small flat so space is tight. I am really grieving my lost pregnancies. I keep having awful dreams about babies and wake up crying.

Pipbin why are multivitamins dangerous? I've been taking Pregnacare Conception ones since January. Also, if anybody has time to explain why Accupuncture is used in IVF I would be most grateful. To me it sounds like more needles to contend with and am not a fan. Thanks x

resipsa · 11/09/2013 07:37

Bad your dreams = Sad

resipsa · 11/09/2013 07:41

Miss I haven't posted since after you shared your news on Monday. So sorry. It's cruel. I'm struggling to remain positive/optimistic in my boat so can only imagine how you're feeling.

Mary sorry too to read that you had a bad weekend. I nearly fell into that trap of saying to someone "when are you going to..." but stopped myself in time. Idiot. Should know so much better!

resipsa · 11/09/2013 07:46

Tame how's the foot?

Hi to winkle, pip, fab, nobeer, stars, wish, euro, brooker and everyone.

Wishing you all a good day.

ThoughtfulOne · 11/09/2013 09:01

Badhair - I just wanted to pop on to make sure your accupuncture question doesn't go unnoticed. I'm an IVF novice starting my first cycle soon but I have heard accupuncture (before EC and after ET) can improve chances of success so I'm giving it a go. I think the theory is both to do with helping you relax (which is a personal thing) and encouraging blood flow to the womb.

I've had one session a couple of cycles ago to see and I had a much less painful period that month so I think it does do something.

I'm going again tonight and plan to do a few crucial sessions during the IVF cycle. I figure it can't hurt and might do some good.

I will let you know more as I progress if you are interested.

IWant did AF come? Are we cycle buddies?

starsandmoonandback · 11/09/2013 09:02

Still, bad and Res, i am also with you on the baby stuff. I have boxes and boxes and boxes in a spare room, plus cot, toys everything under the sun which i can't throw away :( I so want to use them again, but if not i would like to give lots to friends with new babies, but at this rate, i won;t have a single friend who hasn't already had a baby of their own! Until i have reached the point that we are stopping with no sibling for DS, i just cant contemplate getting rid of any of it :-( I think thats what i hate about this whole ivf ttc process - life feeling on hold, never feeling like we can move on properly, does anyone else feel similar to this?

Pip, really? Are multivitamins bad? I just ordered loads of zita west ones to replace pregnacare and well man ones! My consultant told us to be taking both of these! Its all such a minefield with everyone saying so many different things, its so hard to know what to do half the time! Did you feel your appointment was positive in terms of next steps?

Tame, whats wrong with your foot??

Morning everyone else. The sun is shining here today :-)

I'm on the laptop for once and i have looked at the smilies and see that the biscuit indeed looks like a biscuit (or an arsehole!!) but not like a poo coming out of a bum! LOL! However on the iphone app, it looks dark brown with something hanging off the bottom! Sorry, just noted it...do ignore me unless you were in the orginal conversation and understand what i am wittering on about! LOL!

starsandmoonandback · 11/09/2013 09:05

ps. Badhair, i agree with thoughtful about the acupuncture. Its relaxing to start with (the needles are so fine, you don't feel them mostly and if you do, its just a weird sensation, not painful. It encourages blood flow to the womb by getting the blood moving round the body better (improving the chi) so removes blockages. There is evidence around that supports acupuncture enhancing ivf success. if you can afford it, i would give it a go, as it certainly can't harm and even if all it does is relax you, then thats pretty good!

Fabuluce · 11/09/2013 10:01

Oh and I would also recommend Emma Cannon's Baby Making Bible again as she is an acupuncturist and will give you all sorts of information about it. It's a really interesting read plus has some nice recipes too Smile. And also the powers that be refer to being unsure if it's acupuncture or a placebo effect but quite frankly if it makes you feel better then what's the problem?! I for one can definitely say that it is a wonder at relaxation and stress/tension relief Smile

Fabuluce · 11/09/2013 10:06

I've not heard this thing about vitamins though? I thought generally they were perceived to be a good thing so long as you had the right ones rather than just a general multivitamin? And also to make sure to have good quality ones rather than ones packed full of filler (those ones that are like horse pills are supposedly plumped up with talc to make them bigger as the general public like to think the bigger the better!!). Flipping eck there's just no knowing is there and quite frankly at this stage in the game we're all probably likely to try anything in order to get a Bfp that sticks. Snake oil anyone??

starsandmoonandback · 11/09/2013 11:23

Fab, about the plumping up with filler - yuk! I'd much rather a smaller tablet, I'm awful at swallowing tablets!! Now.....about that snake oil! And you're right about trying anything...I've bought a fertility spell on 2 occasions! It 'worked' on one, but I'm still waiting on the second...Wink

Badhairday76 · 11/09/2013 12:34
