Anyone else trying from September?

Hi,my partner and I will be trying for our first baby in September. He is 33 and I am 31. I come from a huge family, 10 siblings in fact, and all apart from one (and myself) have children. Christmas is expensive! All of my siblings had their children before the age I am now, but hoping things will go smoothly.

My partner wants a June baby, which is why we aren't trying until September, but he won't listen when I tell him it is unlikely I will get pregnant in the first month!

I was very nervous about it all until a few weeks ago and am now looking forward to it. Is anyone else trying from September onwards?

I hope we will be but my partner might need a bit of convincing. Good luck :)

jaykay987 · 03/08/2013 18:15

Technically we decided to TTC at the end of June. But due to my AF timings, long cycle length and a poorly timed hospital visit interrupting dtd during this months fertile period - September will be our first cycle too.

I swing between terrified and excited! We're getting on a bit (32), own a house, good jobs etc etc ...so should have nothing to be scared of really. It just feels like a big decision and will obviously be life changing. As soon as I think like that I get scared! Smile

I also can't yet visualise how it will all work out when I have to go back to work - I guess I don't deal well with the unknown!

Good luck with your journey!

greeneone12 · 03/08/2013 20:21

Oh jaykay I don't like the unknown at all! I found having a newborn very challenging as it takes a while to figure out what they need and when! But the joy they bring far outweighs any stress/tiredness you experience.

Work-wise it all just falls into place somehow :)

Really excited for you both!

Daysies · 03/08/2013 20:27

Yes, I suppose we are! Getting married at the end of August, so while I've had my coil taken out already, the 'proper trying' officially starts in September!

Fingers crossed for you all :)

newforest · 03/08/2013 20:29

Exciting but scared at the same time! Guess that must be normal. Good luck to you all - hopefully see you in October with a positive result!!

Would be lovely if we kept in touch with news. All that is on my mind is getting back to it after our loss so this thread might help keep me grounded!

Daysies · 03/08/2013 20:59

On my mind at the moment, Will I really know what to do/be able to cope with a newborn, after 10 years since my last! (Big age gap anyone...?)

Kemie · 03/08/2013 21:12

daysies my cousin had an 18 year age gap between her boys, and is loving it

Hi
Hubby and I decided two weeks ago that we would properly start trying. We have just bought a house and got married in feb. I have been off the implant since December and we were using 'other' forms of contraception but had said it would not be the end of the world if we got pregnant. Now we have decided it's time to go for it. Standing on my head every time we try rather than jumping up straight away! I'm obsessed with it now!!! Wanting it to happen now.hope we can all do it together :) x

TapDancingPimp · 03/08/2013 21:51

Yes, getting married in September and if MyDays app is correct will be ov'ing on honeymoon Smile

jaykay987 · 03/08/2013 21:58

Exciting - there's quite a group of us!

dutchss · 03/08/2013 22:13

This is also my first time posting in mumsnet!

crazyaccountant · 03/08/2013 22:24

Ooh can I join in! OH and I are getting married in November but taking last pill packet this month and just going to see what happens, I've waited a long time for him to be ready and all of a sudden he has decided the time is now so although we have the wedding coming up I think I'm just going to go for it! It's very unlikely I will fall pregnant straight away so think I'd rather come off the pill and start getting my body back to normal! Feel free to tell me if you think I'm mad but just can't imagine continuing to take the pill until end of Nov now OH is ready for me to stop think it would drive me mad!

Daysies · 04/08/2013 00:21

I was worried about morning sickness hitting me on the morning of the wedding, but also aware that coming off contraception might mean it would take a while for things to go back to normal. I reasoned that if something did happen right away that hopefully I wouldn't be feeling too bad that early?

I've waited a month before the wedding to stop, for this reason mainly! Throwing up every few minutes would certainly give the game away to my mother, who is NOT known for her secret-keeping skills.

greeneone12 · 04/08/2013 08:21

I didn't get any sickness at all with my first :) If you really want to go for it - do it! Would you miss drinking at the wedding?

Daysies · 04/08/2013 08:45

I wouldn't miss drinking, but it would for sure be picked up by everyone else if I didn't! Will wait and see what happens, and be prepared to very slowly sip a glass of wine under the pretence that I don't want to be hammered by 4pm! (people who know me would tell you I'm a terrible drinker, so this is a viable excuse)

greeneone12 · 04/08/2013 11:57

Excellent! Your all set then :)

crazyaccountant · 05/08/2013 21:32

I'm not a drinker so it wouldn't surprise people if I didn't drink on the day, I've figured there is probably more chance of me getting a cold or tummy bug or something than getting pregnant before the big day so think I'm gona take the chance and not start my next pack when its due on Wednesday! I try to plan things so much in life and I think for once I just need to relax and see what happens! This approach is pushing me into unknown territory I have to admit! Ha!

jaykay987 · 05/08/2013 21:45

I think relaxing is the hardest part of this process for most of usGrin!

newforest · 05/08/2013 21:53

It's nice that there's a few of us trying soon. Can't wait to hear how everyone gets on :)

I think there is also a danger in reading too much. After my m/c I am so scared to try again and want it to happen quickly but also don't want to get bogged down with ovulation tests/stressed out DTD etc!

I have read so many threads on here and my brain feels like it will explode.

Now need to focus on eating healthily, taking vitamins and stop eating my body weight in chocolate to get over what has happened!!

greeneone12 · 06/08/2013 08:31

Ok from this morning my body is a temple! Anyone else thinking of taking vitamins etc to help the process?

jaykay987 · 06/08/2013 11:46

I take pregnacare for the folic acid and my general vitamin requirements!

I'm considering Agnus Castus this month, but there's definitely mixed reviews.

Do you already get your folic acid from somewhere?

greeneone12 · 06/08/2013 13:53

I actually have a prescription for some from this pregnancy that just ended so I could be a bit naughty and get them....sadly it's not really my style so will be off to Boots to buy me and DP some conception multi-vits this afternoon. We actually conceived both times previously the first try but that's what makes me think our 'quick' luck has run out and next time it will take ages, especially as it will be us trying after losing one. Sorry - I won't mention the m/c after this post.

That's such a silly way to think but I am so positive for everyone else and negative for anything about me! From now on it's all positive!

What's Agnus Castus? Do you think you will use ovulation tests? I downloaded an ovulation app the other day. There is an app for everything!!

jaykay987 · 06/08/2013 14:37

Did you get a prescription because you needed a special amount? Or did they prescribe because you were pregnant?

I have used CB ov sticks this month. They were easy to use (although expensive) so I hoping I'll get a regular pattern so I can stop using them and save the money.

I have temped this month too. Really has helped me to understand my body. I have been doing crazy symptom spotting and recording it all on FF. I know haven't conceived (due to no dtd in fertile window) so I'm hoping next month, when I will be in my first 2ww, I can take some reassurance form the extent of my symptoms this month and therefore not draw any hopeful conclusions!

It's all slightly complicated, as I have a wedding abroad approx dpo6 next month. I'll take my cheap tests with me, but I guess I'll be too early to et appositive, even if I am, so will feel guilty if I drink (or eat cheese)! But I don't want to miss out! Grin

I am sorry about your mmc. It's great you're already back on the bandwagon! Good luck!
