Anyone else trying from September?

Hi,my partner and I will be trying for our first baby in September. He is 33 and I am 31. I come from a huge family, 10 siblings in fact, and all apart from one (and myself) have children. Christmas is expensive! All of my siblings had their children before the age I am now, but hoping things will go smoothly.

My partner wants a June baby, which is why we aren't trying until September, but he won't listen when I tell him it is unlikely I will get pregnant in the first month!

I was very nervous about it all until a few weeks ago and am now looking forward to it. Is anyone else trying from September onwards?

How are we all ladies?

newforest · 31/08/2013 21:08

Hi, waiting with anticipation! Due for AF next weekend so will get down to trying after. I thought I would be feeling a bit nervous about it all now it's finally coming closer but no; just can't wait to get started! If my dates are correct I should be testing around 5th October, which is the same day as my younger sister's baby shower. If by some miracle I get a positive I wouldn't break the news until after she's had her baby in November.

Am I too late to join? Dh and I are ttc #2 with a 17 year age gap from dd. we're both 33. Dd is not biologically dh's.

Welcome to the group! Good luck.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and thinking of ttc (about the only acronym i've learnt) around Oct/Nov, I'm currently on microgynon, and was intending on coming off it after my next pack which will finish this time next month. Do you think i'm leaving it too late for my periods to settle down? Should I make my current pack my last one?? Argh! Any advice gratefully received! I'm a teacher hence wanted to plan conceiving carefully to work around school holidays etc.. i know it might not happen but i'm keeping positive!!

rockstars12 · 01/09/2013 19:08

Hi Hibou! I'd make this your last pack as you don't know how long it will take your period to regulate and for you to ovulate. If you really dont want to start trying til Ocotber, then I'd just start using condoms for a while mean time.

Hey newcomers. Well after getting my hopes up I had conceived straight after MMC my AF arrived yesterday. Was quite frustrated as had so many symptoms. Had a little cry but am now trying to be positive about the next few months trying. Just no idea what to do. Every other day? A few days consecutively over fertile period? SMEP? So many choices! Saying that lady luck plays a massive part too so really should just chill the tell out. We conceived the last two times without pillows under hips and all that crazy stuff sigh Thank goodness I have this space for hand holding a general chat.

.....and I'm done ;)

greeneone12 · 01/09/2013 21:26

Chill the hell out......

newforest · 01/09/2013 21:37

To start with just going to have sex every other day during my fertile time, no ovulation kits or anything. Some suggest every other day throughout the month but my poor partner has a long commute and I don't think he'd keep up for long!

Hi new joiners! FX you get lucky quickly!

Newforest - I just wondered how you'll know your fertile time if you're not using OPKs?

Hibou7688 · 02/09/2013 07:29

I know nothing about opks.. Are the cheapy ones you can get on ebay as good as the expensive clear blue ones? I think i' ll need a practise sept/october so I know what i'm doing when I have to test for real!!

CivicBlue1 · 02/09/2013 21:11

I'm really hopeful it happens this time as DH works away 3/3 and he's away during my next fertile window.

AFishWithoutABicycle · 02/09/2013 21:17

I'm trying in September. I had my implant taken out on the 22 of aug so I think I'll ovulate around the 20th of sep. so when's my 'window'? How long is a window?

greeneone12 · 02/09/2013 22:12

If your period is regular you can use a calendar to work it out. I downloaded the Violeta Ovulation calendar app which tells me my fertile period and the best day in the month to aim for.

I used opk tests from zoom baby but when I started reading up in testing I gave up using them. I didn't realise do many things like some women only have a hormone surge for an hour!

greeneone12 · 02/09/2013 22:14

Reading up on testing.....and I didn't realise so many things.

Sorry - fast fingers!!

AFishWithoutABicycle · 03/09/2013 13:21

Thanks I've down loaded it. My plan is just to DTD as much as poss. I'm not going to test hormones or anything yet. Good luck everyone!

newforest · 03/09/2013 13:35

Hi, I've been "following" my cycle for years. I get all the physical signs including pains. I usually get the signs between days 11-16, so I'm just going to aim from day 9 onwards. If nothing happens for a few months then I will probably try the ovulation kits but I don't see the need at the start to spend the money when I am pretty confident of what's happening when.

I could be proved wrong of course!
