Starting the new thread for you wonderful ladies before I fly off into the sunset.

May this thread bring us the happy news we've all been waiting for. Grin

InShock - I am not trying per se she says

but my main advice to you would be from friends, do not worry so much. apparently worry and stress can be number one hindrance to babies.

maybe yoga would help?

Jean Twenge wrote a book to do with mothers over 40 (keep meaning to buy it) and I'm sure half of them although they had good diets, drank, had caffeine etc.

I know this sounds daft too but research this article, I recommended to a friend and apparently she followed this and got pregnant at 40.

Inshock73 · 31/01/2014 16:41

Thanks HelloBoys

I'll read the article and look for the book and I take on board your comments about worrying too much, I swore I wouldn't get obsessed...ummm :)

HelloBoys · 31/01/2014 17:17

It could be tosh Inshock but it's £150 for the chart and if that works what the heck?

Literally I had a few friends panicking at the late 30's mark - one had sadly had to abort at a late stage due to a disability (baby would have died anyway apparently) and she was fretting for ages, she tried acupuncture. after a holiday abroad and chilling out she got pregnant easily. same with 2 other friends. Yoga (Ashatanga) and detox (which I did for 3 years) helps loads to relax. Smile

jass43 · 01/02/2014 21:51

Inshock, welcome! I am one of the school who would go after 6mo ttc with no luck (considering tou dtd meticulously), and demand some simpler tests, which a gp can probably do. like day 21 to make sure you ovulate. thyroid as well. Nothing much as you did have a pregnancy lately. Good luck! These few tests will not break the bank, I would think, but give you some assurance that things are OK.

Inshock73 · 02/02/2014 09:33

Thanks Jass43. I've booked a gp appt for this week to request thyroid blood test and thanks for tip about 21 day test, I didn't know about that one. It's so good to connect with other women in the same age bracket who are ttc. I think I've been really unlucky because even the nurse at my surgery has been very judgemental and given me the 'why have you left it so late' speech, I told her if I'd met my partner when I was 25 I wouldn't be sitting here! Grrr!

jass43 · 02/02/2014 11:37

Inschock, that is truly judgemental! and, it might not save your pretty nurse any trouble - there are lots of women here with grown-up kids seeking for more! You could have several and still seek now to understand what is left of your fertility, it is your body and your right. Stay strong and do not apologise for what you want!

Tadpole2013 · 02/02/2014 11:39

Welcome, Inshock!
Nevermind the judgmental nurses and doctors. Been there and quite frankly, this forum has been a blessing for me. May you get your happy end.

So after 8 months since last using them, I've bought the cb ovutest. Of course I didn't get a smiley last night! Which I somehow didn't expect because I should be in my window already, if I would be having a 28 day cycle. Which I thought would happen, after two longer months.
It may well prove to have been worth spending all those euros on the ovutest. I have no idea what's up with my cycle.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Inshock73 · 03/02/2014 09:54

Jass43 - I hadn't thought of it like that! You're absolutely right. God we live in such a judgemental society I'm brainwashed!!

Tadpole2013 - Thank you, it's proving a blessing for me too!

Grizzer · 04/02/2014 22:31

Aahhh my friend works for Westminster registry office & they were filmed for a year. First part on TV tonight & she's been telling funny stories about people coming to get married & then 'remembering' they once got married in Vegas but that doesn't count does it!? So I was all set for an hour of laughing at people & instead I'm bawling my eyes out!! First a woman is getting married & starts talking about her dad dying & she can't believe she's getting married without her dad there. That starts me off as the same thing happened to me when I married a few years ago.
Next a young couple come in to register the birth of their baby girl & they were so lovely. A week later they were back to register her death from a heart defect. I'm now sobbing to myself in bed!! Not quite the evening's entertainment I was expecting. Not sure I can face part 2 next week!!

Tadpole2013 · 05/02/2014 13:36

Oh *Grizzer, what a bummer!!
I usually cry my heart out too. The one about the baby. OMG.

An update: doc was not worried at all and told me he didn't see anything wrong back in November and that I should relax. He did however offer to test for Millershormons? Or something like that. Basically to see if I am still able to fall pregnant again.
I'm relieved because at least I'll know.

But. Last night I got a solid smiley on the cb ovulation test. Its my first time using them. From what I understand from the forums a solid is peak, just before ovulation. Right?
I jumped DP but now I'm worried tonight might be too late for a last chance. It didn't flash before.

How are our pregnancies going? Hoping no news is good news, ladies!

Inshock73 · 05/02/2014 13:43

Grizzer - I couldn't even watch it! I resented the happy couples with their new babies just watching the trailer!! I need to reign my emotions in.

Grizzer · 05/02/2014 18:20

I know what you mean inshock I find myself glaring at every pregnant woman in the street!
10dpo for me I think so the countdown is on!! No symptoms (apart from all the sobbing obvs).

Grizzer · 05/02/2014 18:31

tadpole glad the doc was confident that nothing's wrong but really? Just relax??! Ahh if only we'd thought of that! Doesn't he realise we have no time to relax lol.
What does the test involve? I'd be interested in that. I guess a no would be devastating but at least we could stop torturing ourselves every month.
Did you test again today? I think it's still worth dtd. I use the older variety that either smiles or just a circle but you usually get 2. I never know if that means you ov 12/36 hours after the first one or second though. Go for it anyway, you never know x

JBrd · 05/02/2014 23:19

tadpole I hate the 'just relax' line. As if it was that easy!
But if your doctor is offering the Anti-Mullerian hormone test, take it! Normally, the NHS doesn't do that, I had to get mine done privately and pay lots.
However, don't expect too many answers from it. It tells the status of your egg reserve. Which, let's face it, at our age is -drumroll- likely to be low. No surprise there. But it doesn't tell you anything about the quality of your remaining eggs, now that'd be a test I'd be prepared to pay for!

And grizzer is right, a positive OPK means that you are about to ovulate, so go for it Grin

JBrd · 05/02/2014 23:21

Oh, sorry, pressed 'Post' too soon!

5+3 today... Currently sticking my head in the sand and trying not to think what could happen. When I'm not injecting heparin/taking aspiring/inserting progesterone/swallowing antenatal vitamins, that is Confused

jass43 · 06/02/2014 07:20

If you have2 peak OV test 2 days in a row you ovulate 12-36h after the last peak. LH is peak until egg is ripe enough to release, until that happens LH keeps pushing for it.

JBrd, keep that head in the sand, as long as you can. It is a good place do be, i think. No bleeding, no spotting? Good. if you can do not scan before 7 weeks.

Tadpole2013 · 06/02/2014 11:28

That's the one, JBrd! I gratefully took it. But you are right, it would make more sense to know the quality.

Grizzer, I'm feeling stupid because I followed cb's
advice and didn't test again. Yesterday around mid-day I was very gassy with stomach pains. I was sure I ovulated but am wondering since the peak was on Tuesday evening.
I feel a little worried for not dtd one more time this morning. And DP won't be around tonight.
And I'm exhausted, tbh.

Pg envy: The last pg lady at work is still around. Absolutely can't stand to see her. A few months ago it wasn't so bad. Now I can't. Especially since at 42 she should treat her pg like gold. But she drinks. Alcohol. I can't seem to get over that. Very judgemental. I know.

Grizzer · 06/02/2014 12:56

I think it's ok for us to judge tadpole because we know how hard it is and how grateful people should be. When I had my last mc I used to watch the very pregnant manager at my dd's nursery puffing away at 7am! I actually considered reporting her to head office because she stank of smoke around all the kids but I didn't have the guts. Gassy and stomach pains sounds like ov to me. I think you dtd at the right time to catch the egg coming down. Every thing crossed.
Silly question from me despite the fact I'm totally chilled and not thinking about it at all......
Can implantation feel like af pains? I'm not due af til Wednesday & yet I have very mild cramps. Every time I've been pregnant I've been convinced af is coming because I can feel it but this seems really early. Think I'm 11dpo but might be 10. Last af was 13th Jan & I have a 31 day cycle. Ah here's hoping.
I am officially the last person out of friends/dh's friends partners/work colleagues to get pregnant. sigh

JBrd · 06/02/2014 13:00

tadpole How much does she drink? The odd glass of wine really doesn't hurt, esp at later stage pg. Still, it's more of an attitude issue, and yes, I'd be judgemental, too.

Grizzer It is possible... I have had this in previous pregnancies, most notably when I was pg with DS - AF-like cramps a few days before AF was due. Fingers crossed!

I think we need a new thread soon!

JollyJollyWellGoingForIt · 07/02/2014 08:17

Hello all. I'm dropping in again after a brief absence to report that I am on CD28, usual day of AF and temp drop - but my temps have risen another 0.2 degrees. I couldn't stop checking the thermometer reading until it shut off! I'm slightly teary, shakily happy, but still apprehensive of course - it's only 1 day!!

Now I'll be busy catching up with all your news and with the new joiners!

JBrd · 07/02/2014 08:41

Jolly CD28?! You need to POAS pronto, woman! Good luck!

JBrd · 07/02/2014 08:56

Ladies, I've taken the liberty and created a new thread
here

Hope you will all continue there, I will drop in from time to time, if you don't mind!

JollyJollyWellGoingForIt · 07/02/2014 08:58

With you on the pg envy!! First few months of TTC I was beaming smiles at all the ladies with bumps. I'm afraid if they catch me at a bad moment now they get the envy evils. Later in a more composed frame of mind I then feel bad and judgey as who knows what they may have gone through!

I would also be judgey on the alcohol. There was a thread on MN around Christmas on the topic of "should I have a drink with everyone". I felt so strongly against that I thought I'd better not type my response as the lady had really already decided and didn't need me wading in.

Welcome to the thread InShock! I have found it to be so comforting to know that other people are going through the same emotions. It makes you feel less mad..... I had been looking up foods to boost progesterone as I think that can be what we're missing as older ladies. I've replaced some of my diet with more walnuts, beans, asparagus and avocados although I'm afraid I haven't managed to give up my morning coffee! Well done to you. 6 months in was when I started to panic (and also had similar feedback from my DP!) but if you look at the stats, even for healthy younger ladies, up to a year is still perfectly "normal" so don't lose hope!

mumalah · 08/03/2014 12:01

Aahh ! hopeful you turn up in my hour of need ! Thank you for looking at my chart ! I started spotting very slightly today so maybe Af making an appearance? Not even everytime I go to the loo! Its sooo frustrating!
Ha! went to bed without posting the above! Woke up to Af, finally after 60 days! Hallelujah !
