Managed a lurghy boink this morning as DH too tired last night, probably too late so FX Saturday's swimmers were still around following +opk on Sunday and monday mornings!

Back to work today and after a night of coughing I will be rather tired and grumpy!

Bunny I would say your lurgy shag was pretty good timing, assume peak of surge Mon morn, therefore O tonight ish, your swimmers will be arriving at the perfect time. 1 more tonight for luck! (Doubt I will be able to take my own advice, think OH is knackered after the last 4 days )

I'm confused about opks. I thought that ov was likely within 12-48 hours of first positive- is this not right? Gah my head! We dtd twice yes TWICE within 24 hours of the positive and not after that so now I fear we peaked too early?

A surge in LH levels occurs 24 to 48 hours before ovulation. The issue is that a sensitive OPK will detect LH levels high enough to give a positive before and after the peak of the surge... ("when you are reading your OPK, you are seeing a snapshot of your LH surge. You do not really know whether you are seeing the beginning, peak or trail of the surge. What you know is that your LH is at a level that is detectable as a surge by the kit. It may have started to surge soon after your test the previous day and be starting to trail, or it may be just starting to surge")

Basically what all this means is...

Assume Day 1 is the first day you see a positive OPK. In this scenario you could be seeing the trail of the surge (and therefore O as early as that same day), seeing the true peak of the surge (and O on that day or day 2 or day 3) or seeing the start of the surge (and therefore O on day 3 or day 4).

So... if Day 1 is the day you see your first +ive OPK you could theoretically O on Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 or Day 4 (depending on where you were in the surge, the length of your surge, and how soon after the surge you O).

So to cover all bases you want sex on 2 days before positive, the day of the positive AND the 4 days afterwards.

Even temping doesn't give you a true pinpoint as it can take up to 48 hours for the progesterone to build up enough for you to see a rise. So the message in all of this is shag for more days than you think!

I haven't gotten a Peak reading on CBFM for the last 2 months (always had prior to that though) so DH & I were just going by my iphone app/FF app. They usually overlap by a day or so, which is truly odd bc I always key the same info into each app. At any rate I've always wondered if we were ending shag week a little too soon, and it sounds like we might've been .

The longer we TTC the stupider I feel!

Checking in in need of some motivation. 2nd +ive OPK today which means, if I follow my own advice, sex for the next 3 or 4 days. Exhausted at the thought of it!

Only Birmingham! Not even a rough part! It was ghe middle of the afternoon but she did know him. Was going to use it as an excuse not to go tomorrow but I think I better drag my sorry ass there.

merk do you not do eod?

I have tried everything, prev cycles have been EOD mostly. Stats seem to suggest EOD recommended for low sperm count but ED maximises chances with normal sperm count. as i am still test dodging have not had testa done i have no idea about sperm count. However the instadiffer got pg on ED for 7 days. This month I had to rearrange a trip to the US and DH had to cancel two trips abroad to be here this week, so am determine to maximise chances. Am also privately suspicious of EOD effectiveness as if your egg only lasts 24 hours surely you are minimising chances of getting the timing right if you're only sending swimmers on their merry way every 48 hours??!

On a side point (and because, as usual, I post far too much) I had +ive OPK Mon morn and this morn and EWCM (which I hardly ever get) tonight. Suggesting perhaps that I haven't O'd yet, thereby supporting my keep shagging after +ive campaign.

I think I have told you where I'm at, cycle 14, 2ww, had basic tests, seeing GP Friday hoping for FC referral!

Have stopped counting how long, off the top of my head it must be coming up 18 months plus a good while NTNP before them. Tests - I am still kidding myself hoping it will just happen naturally. A few months ago we said we'd do one more cycle of trying before tests but then I had cystitis, then I was away with work, then he was away with work. So this is our last ditch attempt before starting the tests. Have a sympathetic GP (we talked about it when I went for 3rd lot of cystitis/kidney infection meds) so all primed to go. However (probably because I've not had any hope the last few months) I'm feeling massively positive about this month...

Bunny how long have you waited between 1st tests and now?

merk tbh we've been down the ed vs eod road so many times and neither seem to work for us lol!
We've had all our tests etc and still in no better position!
