Come and join us elderly TTCers on the Sofa of Pity (SoP), Rug of Rage (RoR), the Pouffe of Possibility (PoP) or the Chaise Lounge of Limbo (CLoL) whilst trying to avoid the BubbleBath of Gloom(BoG)!

The smallprint - Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 3+months, NO instadiffers, must have a special pot) and def no mention of baby dust or baby dancing UGH !!! Ooh we are strict...please note your house may be at risk if you do not keep up repayments lol

juicy/Gail/viv/mike/helen@mn towers we miss you!!!!! Soooo glad about your news! There's hope for us all!
Everyone is so well behaved since you left! We don't have you to lead us astray Sad. We miss mumsnet-enders!

boom well done on the sweeties!

happy I think they need consecutive tests so that they check each ovary? Although they only did mine once which doesn't surprise me as my fc is useless

merk don't go away again! We're here to be moaned at! Although just so you know, you will need to listen to my incessant moaning too!!

Well so much for 'my body is a temple' starting today. Got a chippy tea and dh is currently trying to talk me into an all day drinking session on sat...

BlindKitty · 01/07/2013 18:41

Where's barking tonight? Hope she's not too sore from yesterday! I couldn't walk for days after my last half marathon!

thunder nah dh went to glasto. I had a massive pang of conscience and let me ticket go as I stupidly thought my iui would have started by now. So I went to just a mental day festival instead and made up for it!

Boomgoestheweasel · 01/07/2013 19:18

bunny I think it's because I've got pcos, finally officially diagnosed today. Cycles 55+ days, polycystic ovaries on scan, raised testosterone. Plus I badgered them to within an inch of their lives and wouldn't leave until they gave me it today, which I think they finally grasped Grin. Remind me where you're at? And hope you got your lurgy boink!

Thunder we haven't actually established if I ovulate or not. The doc today said because my cycles were so long it was 'unlikely that I was releasing a viable egg', and I've had two low progesterone tests although they were basically useless as not taken 7 days before a period. I've never managed a positive OPK though.

Good luck getting your cd21 tests accepted happy. I really recommend having everything in a folder if you can (GP will print out all results if you ask them to, although they usually charge) along with guidelines and a list of questions. It was invaluable today when they obviously didn't know me from Adam and hadn't looked up anything about me prior to the appointment, and I had everything to hand and managed to ask all the questions I needed answers to. Also makes you look like you mean business!

Merkin good to have you back!

Right, off for a run really slow pootle with the dog.

Oh, and for those interested in doggy news...I've registered my interest in a beautiful 2-year old springer called Spud at a local rescue centre...EEK!

BlindKitty · 01/07/2013 19:36

boom tbh clomid is much more likely to work with you than the likes of me. The grads better start making some room....

When do you find out if you get the pooch?

barkingtreefrog · 01/07/2013 19:38

Oooooo!! Boom! I was so excited to hear about your sweeties ^^ but then I carried on reading and you mentioned a new springer!!! Grin Grin Grin Ooo, have you visited yet? Grin Grin Grin

I didn't cycle to work this morning but I can walk ok!! Fingers crossed I can still walk tomorrow and it's not just delayed onset!!

And in my ttc news DP had a little trial run by himself last night and thinks we should try dtd this week. I will need to inspect it myself to ensure all scabs are indeed gone... Athough a little sneaky calculation tells me we're actually probably still in shag week, so this cycle might not be a complete write off after all!!

Thundercatsarego · 01/07/2013 20:01

Oh yeah blind I knew that about the festivals. Sounds good fun though. Chippy tea yummmmmmm

boom this is such a good day for you! It's great you got the sweeties despite having got pg before- they didn't mind that? And spud????!! What a bloody great name! You off to meet him?

barking Grin at the trial run and scab check. Good on your DP for getting back into it in time for shag week too. Just go steady yeah? We don't want any tales of broken willies...

BlindKitty · 01/07/2013 20:10

barking's dh is a trooper! Urghh at scabs though!

Bunnygirlie · 01/07/2013 20:15

Evening all!

thunder I feel like a whingebag too! I do moan a lot don't I!

boom I'm cycle 14 and seeing new GP this week to see if she will refer us! So do you think I should ask for a hard copy of mine and DH results then?

Ooh barking glad you can walk, but you know they always say its the day after the day after when you feel the burn Wink Good luck with scabbers Grin

Well hubby came home with with the I'm too tired excuse Sad

happylass · 01/07/2013 20:28

Bunny the letter I've had from the FC says I have to have a copy of all the results (which the docs haven't given me either and they'd better not try to bloody charge me!) Good luck with your GP - hope they are better than mine. Did try ringing the FC this afternoon but all those with any authority had gone home. Receptionist was lovely though so hope thats a good sign!

Bunnygirlie · 01/07/2013 20:45

Finger crossed for you happy sounds like we are around the same sort of stage.

Berries - question, I am guessing it'll take a fair few months from referral to seeing FC yeah? How long approx?

OP posts:
BlindKitty · 01/07/2013 21:04

bunny I waited from jul to sept last year but it will differ from trust to trust

barkingtreefrog · 01/07/2013 21:07

Bunny in my case 2 months, although we were told to expect to wait 3 months. Then another 2 months for the further tests and the appointment with the consultant, but again it was a month earlier than we were told to expect, I think we got lucky with the appointments. It took 2 months to get all the test results with the GP so I was also 14 months ttc when we were referred. It's worked out quite well as we now have 6 cycles of clomid, which where we live is one of the required hoops before being referred on to the assisted conception unit, another hoop being ttc 2 years, which we'll hit at the same time. Given the consultant told me he didn't expect clomid to work for me I'm kind of looking forward to the 2 year mark when the next stage of waiting will kick in, and a bfp in the meantime would be a very happy surprise (not that saying that will stop me being gutted every cycle when I've convinced myself yet again it's finally happened).

SidneyBristow · 01/07/2013 21:13

Tied up with something at the mo but didn't want to read & run -- Massive WOOT for boom's sweeties! So happy for you! Will be pumping you for details-- asking you politely for advice tomorrow - I have a GP appt for next week & need a dose of your assertiveness! Maybe you could transfer some to bunny & me! I'm just starting cycle 13 & am nearly positive that finally qualifies me for an HSG. Now how to communicate that to my GP (whom I've never met with) without sounding bossy or hypochondriacal....

Good luck to those DTD tonight!

happylass · 01/07/2013 21:15

Bunny I wasn't referred until the end of May and if I'd had the right tests I could be seen in the next few weeks so not long at all really. Although I was also told to expect to wait about 3 months. Guess it differs from place to place. Can I ask what tests everyone else had at their GPs before being referred?

Bunnygirlie · 01/07/2013 21:55

Thanks ladies, here's hoping my local trust has a short waiting list (keep everything crossed for me, except those on shag week of course Wink )

sid you had any tests yet Hun?

happy at my old docs I had the day 3 test and then 3 lots of day 21(ish) tests, the final one said i do ovulate sometimes - my doctor said that whatever DHs jizz test says I should be refereed so I am hoping that's what my new doctor will say.

CharmingCats · 01/07/2013 22:16

Wahey to viv (itsalwaysraining?)!!!!! Well done you!

Also Wahey to boom for the sweeties. Was thinking of you today. Glad it went so well. To answer your question, the only indication I have had of ov is a couple of positive OPKs along the way and the last scan I had showed one very large folly, but no prof test to confirm as dunno when day 21 is, much like you. Perhaps I'm not ov on both sides or at all....we shall see.

blind sorry, forgot that you work in healthcare, so are probably more au fait with the etiquette. As you were!

Really pleased to see merk isn't lurking anymore. We've missed you.

Feeling quite philosophical about ttc today, but not sure that will last!

Boomgoestheweasel · 01/07/2013 22:18

Oooh Berries I'm so excited! Just got off the phone with the guy from the rescue centre, Spud is earmarked for us and we're going to meet him on Saturday! EEEEEEEEEE! He's beautiful, I'll try and find a link for him...

This is Spud

SO EXCITED!! and so in trouble with DH haha

Right, back to the business in hand (so to speak Barking eh - bwahahaha) - hope you manage to get back in action before shag week is over! Fingers crossed...

Oh Kitty you made me go all funny at the thought of being in the grads - I've never really considered it as a possibility before, hard to change that mindset but squeeeeeee - it could actually happen now!

Bunny I think it just helped me to know that I knew everything I possibly could about my own care - in my experience they don't check who you are or what your problems are before you go into the room so they're working blind. It really was worth it today because the doctors made some very dodgy suggestions and I (politely) shot them down in burning flames. And they couldn't argue because I was right Grin.

Sid anything I can do to help - am not an expert but happy to wade in with an opinion make suggestions!

I still haven't been referred to fertility clinic - am under gynae clinic and I think the clomid is under the radar to be honest!

CatsCantFlyFast · 01/07/2013 22:43

I don't want a baby anymore, I want a SPUD! He's so gorgeous I am v v jealous.
And on the earlier point of a 2 day surge, I would hazard a guess somewhere in the middle of the positive sticks is a good time to start judging O from... Assuming surge probably on the up on the 1st test and on the downwards slope at the 2nd. Poor girl, your cycle buddying with me!

SidneyBristow · 01/07/2013 23:03

boom major apologies Blush I have no idea why my Woot to you was struck out! My post reads like I'm not psyched for you and that couldn't be further from the truth!! Of all the times for my wonky typo habit to be in full effect! Sorry about that!

Spud is a gorgeous boy!

bunny I've had the day 3/day 21 blood tests, a thyroid screening and a dildocam. DH has had a SA. All results were normal, and some were even v v promising, so I'm wondering if there's a blockage going on. Not sure I can face a diagnosis of Unexplained Infertility. It would kill to feel like DH and I were incompatible in that department when he & his former wife clearly were not Sad. At any rate I'm going to ask for the test, and if I'm still not pg by Sept or so then we'll be heading to a private clinic. It isn't ideal but time is more of an issue at this point than anything else. Still hoping that that doesn't become necessary but if it does, it's nice to know we have a gameplan in place.

Boomgoestheweasel · 01/07/2013 23:08

Oh and this is my happy little BoomDog - don't they go well together? Grin

Boomgoestheweasel · 01/07/2013 23:10

S'ok Sid I'll forgive you Wink

barkingtreefrog · 01/07/2013 23:25

Boom Spud is GORGEOUS!!! And so is the already resident spaniel. We would get a second dog in a flash if it wasn't so much harder to get a dog sitter for two... We're lucky where we live as there are three of us on the same road all with dogs and keys to each other's houses. If one of us is late home for some reason we can text one of the others to walk our dog. Weekends away is the same, we're always dog sitting one of their dogs and they return the favour with ours. If we got another it would be too much - we'd be asking our usual sitters to cope with 3 dogs, and when we looked after theirs we'd have 3 in the house as well. House isn't big enough for 3 dogs, not really great for 2...

BlindKitty · 02/07/2013 07:18

charming there's no etiquette here, what in suggesting is down right rude but I'm going to do it anyway

boom spud and boom dog are going to have so much fun! When do you find out if you get him? How come he is a rescue dog?

Tallyra · 02/07/2013 07:19

Yay for boom! you are on a roll, and things come in threes so of course you ate now due for bfp as soon as you get hold of spud. what a gorgeous dog, to go with boomdoggy. We would love another, but a, our staffy thinks he's human and doesn't need a friend, and b, we can't ask family to look after more than one while we go to work. he's calmed down considerably in the last year do he's now copable but another would rock the balance I think.Sad Sad

I other news, I got told off at work yesterday for being angry about the changes they made and told to suck it up. Grr Angry

Boomgoestheweasel · 02/07/2013 07:33

blind he's coming to meet the family (canine, feline and otherwise) on Saturday. Only small glitch is that we're not sure how he reacts around cats - he was a stray, can you believe anyone would let such a lovely boy wander the streets! Sad They think it's because he's so energetic he's a fricking springer, what did they expect The foster home he's in says he's great around babies, children and other dogs, so hoping he won't try and eat the cats. If all goes well there and Boomdog takes to him, we'll keep him for a week or so before making the final decision. Can't wait to meet him!

Tally wahoo to lucky threes! Here's hoping! Sorry your work sounds so unreasonable Angry, must be so frustrating.

Hi ho, off to squidge some bumps and meet lots of new babies!
