Sad for you Drizz. It's good that he is supportive and luffley though. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy thinking how luffley he was to you. Cockles well and truly warmed. Hope you are ok.

I've spent the afternoon reading an e-book that I am hoping will cure me of my fatness. It may just be a crap gimmick but it's psychology-based and It described my over eating habits perfectly. Ended up a little bit teary probably just the horsemoans but I generally feel a little bit better about it all. Going to the gym tonight to seal the deal too. You've all inspired me.

Hope you're all having a good Friday night swig of the casket barrell for me.

Bearfacedchic · 07/06/2013 17:49

Jeepers, since when did barrel have two Ls.

HesterShaw · 07/06/2013 18:22

I am having to take the pill as part of my IUI cycles. Well I did the first time and this time as we know, I forgot Blush. However it didn't matter as my droid came the day it was supposed to anyway. It's supposed to be for timing your next "bleed" as they call it perfectly.

My 'bleed' stopped 2 days ago and has come back Hmm Unimpressed.

I have never been on the pill. I did want to kill myself (literally, not even remotely an exaggeration) when I initially got my implant in so I can't say the idea of the pill is appealing.

How are you hest? Not heard much from you lately.

bear what book is it?

TWinklyLittleStar · 07/06/2013 18:37

Cross posts there bugs - I don't see how it could hurt to mention it. What levels has your LH been at?

bugs the more I think about it, the more I think them putting you on Clomid is bullshit. You don't need it, it's not helping, and I wonder are they just delaying and hoping you get diffed before they have to wheel out the expensive treatment. I hope I'm wrong about that.

HesterShaw · 07/06/2013 19:44

Just very busy Winks. It's this lovely summer weather bringing the tourists out!

I had never been on the pill either before my first iui. Made the boobs hurt. Now I am stabbing again I feel a little tired and headachey, but that could be a) busyness and b) the sun so I'm not moaning too much. We're so busy I'm actually hardly thinking about it.

HesterShaw · 07/06/2013 19:45

I too have never seen why Bugsy should be on Clomid as she doesn't have any massive difficulty is getting pregnant, but staying pregnant is the issue.

CaptainMoll · 07/06/2013 20:34

Bugs, the first gp I saw re fertility told me to go home and "read everything you can find about fertility, you should come back here knowing more about it than me." Everyone I've seen since then, where I've tried to talk about something I've read, has given me the same condescending, weary look of "here we go, another fertility forum know-it-all" Hmm

Don't let that put you off though! Joking aside, I think you should definitely ask about it. I've had times in the past where the course I suggest gets pooh-poohed initially, then the doc comes back later and suggests it themselves. They don't know everything, and you're well within your rights to enquire about alternatives and get a second opinion.

I'm at work, missing the lovely summer evening again. Sad

bugs as you can probably gather from my posts on here, I am a big fan of the "know it all" approach to doctors. My thinking is that no one knows your body and your situation like you. A consultant spends about 20 minutes with you. They cannot possibly know everything about you. And also, many of them have a bit of a bee in their bonnet about something and a way of working and are not always flexible. I don't care if they think I'm awkward or irritating - my health means more to me than it ever will to them and I cannot accept putting everything in their hands without being in a position to question and make sure it is right for me.

I have mental PMT tonight. I just went to the gym to try to work it out. It didn't help. I had to mix with Other People. Still, I'm sure they will get the blood stains out eventually....

RaspberrySnowCone · 08/06/2013 00:22

Oh my god! I did a pole dance all by myself in front of over 300 people, and it was being recorded and we had proper photographers and everything! So fucking scary but absolutely amazing buzz, just awesome ---- my friend filmed it so is going to put it on the book of face. :) sqeueeeeee I'm high on sugar and a bit tipsy but mainly sugar!!!!

EuroShaggleton · 08/06/2013 08:07

Wow rasp. That's a pretty big audience! Well done!

Nokkie73 · 08/06/2013 09:58

raspberryVonTeese that is seriously impressive.

bugs I got the impression that Clomid is the 'oh Ffs, give her something to shut her up before we spend zillions on ivf'. They prescribed it to me. I read the list of side effects and thought 'fuck that'. Didn't bother taking it. I knew I ovulated and thought it was mad to place me on drugs that helped me, errrr, ovulate. You may need to get a bit stroppy for a referral but who fucking cares about that ?

Hello to everyone else. Norks xx

JethroTull · 08/06/2013 15:11

It makes me angry that doctors prescribe Clomid without thinking about it. It's just lazy.

Rasp seem your photos on Facecrack. You look fab. Grin

Northey · 08/06/2013 21:23

rasp, you are so fit!

I totally agree with whoever said about clomid sometimes being used to string women along before bringing out the ivf big guns.

How has everyone enjoyed the sunny day?

Still enjoying massive pant snot pre-droidery, and still undecided what to do about ivf when droid comes. I suspect I am making the decision for myself, by just ignoring it all till it is too late. Which is fine.

evilgiraffe · 08/06/2013 22:09

Gorgeous sunshine here on Wales, norf, made even better by rumours of gloom and drizzle at home Grin Lovely morning with friends today, and the rest of the week will be much relaxation. Hurrah!

Bearfacedchic · 08/06/2013 23:44

Massive respect Rasp. I'm not sure I could even get a leg off the ground! You deserve a baybee just for that.

Twinks- book is called 'How to have your cake and your skinny jeans too.' I skimmed through the anecdotal stuff as I felt like I got the message and she does overdo it a bit. But she says a lot about why diets don't work in terms of psychology and about eating habits. It was the first time I'd read something about eating and thought I could actually relate to it and it might be able to help me. She has some good tips about eating and I've lost a couple of pounds already. You do have to be selective with the advice though, I think.

Bugs- I'm with the others. It does sound like foboffery to me. It's worrying that it seems to be so routinely prescribed when extended use suggests that it can lead to ovarian cancer. Scary stuff.

RaspberrySnowCone · 08/06/2013 23:47

I'm never really sure why they prescribed clomid to me as they know I ovulate within their 'normal' window. I think it's just cheap and easy and keeps is schtumn for a while.

evilgiraffe · 09/06/2013 08:31

If it is any encouragement at all, last year I was told I didn't need clomid because I ovulate on my own - so some doctors do read the notes and make the sensible choice! Of course, that left me floundering around for eight months while we waited to clock up three years to meet the NHS criteria, feeling like I couldn't do anything even to try and help myself, but still it was the right choice.

I think it's quite often used as a pacifier, which is not necessarily so terrible - I could have used something to comfort me, even if it didn't have any effect.

Bugs I think if it fails then you get a follow up appointment where they'd give you advice on further private treatment options. Is your fertility clinic at the hospital also attached to a private clinic? I only ask because both the local hospitals round here are also satalite clinics for either Care or Nurture.
