On the plus side at least I know it's definitely pointless to POAS at this point so not driving myself insane symptom spotting!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 10/06/2013 11:45

birds i remember reading somewhere that charting methods like bbt and OPKs work better if you have very regular periods. Especially ones that are more text book. I think, eg, the CBFM is only for periods up to 42 days.

How long have you been temping? Is it always this irregular?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 10/06/2013 11:46

Ah just read this is your cycle 1. Guessing your weren't temping before? Then don't worry so much. You might still notice a spike later in the month. And it might be very obvious.

Rockchick1984 · 10/06/2013 12:05

OLTT I've only found SMEP from dr google - thought it may have been what you were suggesting but very helpful as your description means I know I've understood it properly!

How long after ovulation is best for POAS?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 10/06/2013 12:13

rockchick that depends on your stick. I think they usually same how many days before your period due. And the 'period' is the 14 dpo. Most sensitive ones can detect it before that. But the really crappy ones can be one week after it's due!

alyant79 · 10/06/2013 13:05

that is very positive of you rockchick - still going on the SMEP and already looking ahead to POAS. Two thumbs up.

GuffSmuggler · 10/06/2013 13:30

Congrat alice! Grin

I FINALLY got a peak smiley this morning, blardy hell we've been at it all weekend .

We are pushing on through though! Poor DH has been ordered to return home inbetween two activties he does tonight for a quicky as I know he'll be too tired ones he's finished playing sport. I think we'll try and manage tomorrow and then will have to give it a rest, it's killing us!!

Sal1977 · 10/06/2013 15:03

Haha!! Go on Guff, take another one for the team girl!!

I've had 3 days of positive OV sticks so we're still at it as well (day 8 or 9 in a row), although I have been poorly with a temp of 101f so kind of figure my body had cooked both egg and sperm so not holding out much hope even after all our bleddy efforts!!

I feel like shite. Saw the doc this morning who said its flu so he can't give me anything which is a pisser considering we tie the knot on Friday and I look like something from night of the living dead!! F*ck it, I'll just have to dose up and open up a can of man-up!! On the plus side, I think I sweated a couple of pounds off! Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/06/2013 16:06

Well Ive just been down to the GP to collect DDs prescription. I was all wound up to really let rip into the receptionist, then when I got there, it was someone I know personally on the desk. It was probably a good thing, because I kept calm!
Well AF is still lurking around thinking about it, but hasn't fully kicked off, I might make 27 days after all. That's something I suppose!

OP posts:
alyant79 · 10/06/2013 16:32

sal I salute you! Just as well you've been practising Project syringe (at least for some of it), or else with your flu it would be a write off.

I'm sure you'll be feeling right as rain come friday for you wedding. How exciting! Hurray!

saggy dare I say it?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/06/2013 16:36

I think this every month! Im not bothering any more!

OP posts:
OneLittleToddleTerror · 10/06/2013 16:46

sal I salute your dedication too. Flu, high temp and you are still at it like rabbits Grin. Your body might just now be the temperature to be a blobby oven!

On a positive note, I weighed myself in the weekend and I've lost 2.1kg so far! I joined the gym after my last MC, which is 7 weeks ago. I'm really happy about the progress. I can just squeezed in my skinny jeans now. (Not a chance of actually wearing them out. I took a deep deep breath before doing the button up. But hey, I'll ignore that little bit of truth).

Great to hear all the good news, congrats to Alice. I am just sitting on my hands trying not to test, I am due weds by my calculations, but did I see someone called this the WTF cycle? So I probably will try to wait till friday if it isn't here by then. oddly I don't feel that AF is coming or any different either way. Maybe it will just be a late one, to mess with my head even more.
onelittle well done on the weight loss. I lost a few pounds before getting up the duff last time, I then felt horribly nauseous from about 7dpo which made me snack constantly for a month or so, put the few lbs back on and am trying to lose it again. I am doing C25K and going to add in 30day shred 3 times a week, plus doing 2 fast days a week, I am hoping in a way I don't get a + this month as then I will at least have had a proper period and will have another month of this to lose a few more lbs, as I would have to stop the 5:2 - did that when I got the + last time and instantly put back on 3 or 4 I had lost!

Has anyone else had trouble with a bloated tummy still after MC - it was only 6 weeks but I just had a massive tummy, with DD I didn't get that at all.

vix2812 · 10/06/2013 20:03

alice yay! congrats for you both, I hope it goes smoothly.

missp Im glad it helped you relate and that I wasn't alone in some of the actions I made. I thought people would think I was odd for holding him/her. I guess it was just something I couldn't NOT do, you know?

So crazy to read everyone getting down n dirty lol, there'll be babies everywhere!!!
Anybody unsure of what's going on after M/C, particularly straight after, I'd say to let your body get to grips with one period first, at least. Tbh, my first AF after and many since have been agony. Maybe, there's something wrong with me?
It's been 13 months now since following the m/c out and 14 months since discovering...I think at best I can give it only 5 more goes before I get tested for fertility right? I mean 18 months should've done the trick?

I've never tried temping or anything consistent with ov tests, how effective are you guys finding it?

Im so pleased for the BFP's, babies yay!!!

OveranxiousUnderated · 10/06/2013 20:46

Hi everyone Smile

Wow alice Congratulations! Grin

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Quick update from me, still lurking here if you don't mind as I don't feel ready to move over to the pregnancy topic just yet..

Went to see Dr today, he was pretty useless to be honest! Said there is no need for an early scan, so there goes my little ray of reassurance. He said my levels went from 400 to 3600 in 6 days, which is more than indicative of a viable pregnancy. Didn't even work out a due date for me just said, oh you used them ovulation kit thingies didn't you - I'd use that date. So I gave the date that I have worked out at the desk, when I registered with the midwife, within 2 hours I got a call arranging my home visit. Which to be honest freaked me out a bit, it's moving so quickly and it's bringing back my MC when I made my appointment etc and then the bleeding started...

I am 7 weeks today (I think) I was 6wk1day when I MC so I am one week further at least.

[For anyone who has no idea what my story is this time around...I basically had a period bang on time on May 20th when it was due, normal/heavy etc. The day it finished I took a pg test and it was positive...following negative pg tests all the way up until AF, so I originally assumed I was having another MC]

Feeling anxious/paranoid to say the least. Oh and I also have very few pg symptoms which is adding to the worry!

Anyway, I need some advice from you lovely ladies. Do I wait it out 5/6 weeks...or fork out £99 for an early scan/piece of mind? I just don't know what to do. I want a scan so badly, but things are tight at the moment and £99 is a lot of money for us to spend. What would you do?

x

vix2812 · 10/06/2013 21:20

over hey, good news to hear your pg r's again! Personally i would wait. it won't make you a bad person to not get a scan, just a normal mum to be. If we were meant to keep an eye on our babies inside us, we would have teletubby tummys with a screen! Have a little faith and hope, and hopefully your positivity will flow into babba. If you are going to spend that money, spend it on yourself feeling good, to help the baby feel good. By the sounds of it, your stats are looking great! and your progress in comparison to the mc.
I hope you find comfort soon, whatever your decision will be. What does OH think?

BirdsDoIt · 10/06/2013 22:11

Hi over, absolutely brilliant news that your figures are looking so good! On the question of a scan - do you have a good epu near you? I went to kings college hospital in London for my early scans and erpc when I had mmc and they said a couple of times that when (I thought to myself, hmm, if) I get pg again then I should come in for an early reassurance scan - they suggested at 8 weeks by which time you should see heartbeat, and i think it's worth waiting until then. Did you go to hospital for your mc? Could you try going to their walk in clinic and explaining the stress/anxiety is really difficult and you need a scan? So frustrating that the gp doesn't understand! 5-6 weeks is a long time to wait.

That said, it's sounding v hopeful from your figures. Can they keep doing hcg tests? Or could you temp to check it's staying at same level and then if it drops you'll know something's up and if not you don't need to be worried? All fingers crossed for you!

RainbowConnections · 10/06/2013 22:39

Hi over sounds really positive. Like fantastic news actually!

I understand you being nervous though. Has been/is a really stressful time for you. Shame your GP finds a scan unnecessary. I've been referred for 6 week scan with bleeding definitely less than a period. Although I dont think your stats sound anything less than great, I'd have thought you definitely have legitimate cause for an early reassurance scan.

Assuming you need a GP referral, is it worth/possible to see another GP at your surgery to tell them you continue to be anxious about the significant early bleed and press again for a scan.

(my phone is playing up, 3rd attempt at posting this so apologies if several versions appear)

OveranxiousUnderated · 10/06/2013 22:50

Thanks for all of your replies, you are all so lovely. So great having people to talk to. Thanks

DH thinks that we should just wait and whatever is meant to be will be. I like his thinking, yet I also need confirmation as I just cannot believe/accept that I am pregnant.

I did think about contacting the EPU directly as the nurse there said to me about an early scan if I was to get pg again after the MC. I might give it a few more days to mull it over and see how I feel.

I liked the comment about telly tubby tummies Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/06/2013 23:14

Over I am so so pleased for you. Smile
My EPAU said they would see me early next time. but ~I am in two minds as to if I would go or not.

vix2812 · 11/06/2013 01:56

over I think your husband has a good head on him about this. I know it may seem like he doesn't fully understand the anxiety not-knowing brings, but he his going through it with you too, i bet he's concerned about it going wrong too.
Whatever happens, I hope you can keep your mind at ease and enjoy finding out if your pregnant the natural way - through tiredness and nausea! :P

BakingBunty · 11/06/2013 07:32

overanxious, if I were you, I'd be pushing for an early scan with all my might. I know that it sadly can't necessarily prevent things from going wrong, but the reassurance that it can give shouldn't be under estimated. I am just so much calmer since having an early one last week - am sleeping better and feeling less anxious (though the worry hasn't entirely gone away!)

I'd second the great suggestion to see a different GP, or try direct to EPU.

Good luck!

Sal1977 · 11/06/2013 09:01

I had an early scan at 7 weeks after some spotting last time and we got to see the baby with its little heart going and everything. Turns out it all went to shit within a week of the scan, so next time I think I'll just hold out til the 12 weeks if I can as that false hope was awful!

alyant79 · 11/06/2013 09:02

over that's wonderful news. Very reassuring. If I were you though, I'd be pushing for an early scan. My EPU also said that they'd see me for a early scan next time... You need to do what you feel is right for you, so if you think an early scan would help then you should try and get one. I'd try very hard to get it for free though before forking out the £99. Especially given that you had a regular seeming period!

I'm curious why you did a pg test immediately after you period finished... what was the hint that you might be pg??

missmakes my tummy was really bloated from about 6 weeks in too, and it didn't go away until quite a while after the mc (due to large retained products). I think it's a second pregnancy symptom - already stretched out uterus knows exactly what to do. At 6 weeks I looked about 4 months pregnant by my first pregnancy sizing, and I was in maternity jeans by 8/9 weeks when the first time round i didn't get them until about 5 months.

Good work on all the weight loss ladies.
