Come on ladies, this is the one! Time for some BFPs!

The smallprint- Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 3+months, must have a special pot, NO instadiffers)

Very glad to hear of another straightforward hsg boodle, and good news that they didn't find a problem although like you said if there was a blockage that they easily unblocked that might actually have been more encouraging.Confused We'll probably be on the clomid at the same time by the sounds of it Smile .

Tallyra · 08/05/2013 22:59

ooh pip Ivf! exciting! good luck!

MrsB00Mbastic · 08/05/2013 22:59

I'm almost definitely being thick here, but isn't clomid supposed to stimulate ovulation? So not really treating the luteal phase issue? Feel free to wang me with a sausage for not having a clue!

barkingtreefrog · 09/05/2013 07:02

You're right Boom but the nurse at the fc told me that it regulates the cycle so although I am ovulating now it's not any good as it's too late in my cycle. Clomid will hopefully mean I ovulate sooner and have a longer LP. This is my hope and I'm clinging to it!!!Hmm

GooseyD · 09/05/2013 07:36

Boodle, Barking and Cate - are we the ones with short LP, any others out there? I was also puzzled by the prospect of Clomid as first treatment, but was told same as Barking - so if that is the case it sounds promising. And if it's the most sure-fire treatment then 'at my age' I want to get straight on it! I'm still interested to find out why everything I'd read before made me think it would be progesterone first. Is it an internet myth or the way they do things in the States? I had read on a US site that you should have a post ovulatory scan to examine the corpus luteum and that the treatment for short LP is decided on that basis - but I asked for that and was told that you can't tell anything from a post O scan. Worth any of you guys asking about it and seeing what your FC has to say? I'll try and dig out where I read it.

Ok, a probably quite stupid question about HSG and DTD - can you DTD before and after as usual? My leaflet said you 'may be asked not to' ttc for rest of month after HSG, but I checked at my appointment and they said - no that's absolutely fine - it's BEFORE the scan that you shouldn't dtd. Well, thank you very much, it was a bit damn late to tell me that wasn't it! Not that there's a hope in hell that I'm pg as ovulate around CD20 - but since the doctor told me the OPKs and charts are worse than useless and I could be ovulating any time in my cycle (!) I now feel in a totally deluded way, that sods law means that I will have been pregnant and just zapped the egg with dye and that if I carry on trying for rest of month and have a miracle BFP that I won't know whether it was conceived before or after, and hence whether it's been zapped, and don't know how much that matters anyway nervous.

Yorkie that is so frustrating! Hope your DH can spur them into action today.

Hi Pip, I'm a newbie that flagged down last shuttle here. If I were you and it's work your worried about I would just go for it in term time - I've had heaps of time off (not that I'm a teacher so easier to arrange) - I wouldn't feel the guilts about that at all.

MrsB00Mbastic · 09/05/2013 11:47

Ah barking thanks for explaining! Clomid seems to be a bit of a wonder-drug really, here's hoping it can help for you short-LPers!

Goosey crap that they didn't tell you not to dtd if you weren't supposed to. I hope you can manage not to worry, like you say it's extremely unlikely that you've ov'd already. I disagree with the dr about charts/opks being useless anyway - look how many people on here have got diffed using them.

Going to see my acupuncturist this afternoon. Hoping she can bring this cycle to an end - day 30 now and no sign of AF Sad. Anything under 45 days and I'll be happy!

GooseyD · 09/05/2013 13:37

Boom hope the acupuncture works. Thanks for the wise words. Did your late night dining give you wierd dreams?!

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 13:40

I second Boom on the dr talking absolute rubbish. I spent 6m randomly DTD & also estimating the right time to DTD without really knowing my cycle & not getting pg & then the first month that temping & OPKs showed Ov & I'd DTD at the right time I got updiffed. Yes, you shouldn't be trying to DTD only on the day of Ov & not at any other time but if you don't have time / energy / stuff in life prevents you DTD every day all month then it has got to increase your chances.

Mind you Mr Frog hated the thermometer & will maintain to his dying day it would have happened anyway as it just took that long for the BCP to leave my system but what does he know.

MrsB00Mbastic · 09/05/2013 13:45

Goosey it didn't give me pregnancy dreams which is good, because mine are always really creepy and I usually seem to be in a giving-birth race with a friend and then I misplace the baby as soon as it's born but I did sleep badly! That'll teach me to have pot-roast just before midnight...

Tallyra · 09/05/2013 14:55

boom I think I had the dreams for you. I woke up with a migraine and took a Triptan then went back to sleep and dreamt the oddest thing.

I washed my hair at school but put the conditioner on and went somewhere else for some reason so I went into the staff toilets to wash it off (not sure where as there's no shower) only to find the toilets blocked and overflowing and I had no shoes on. then the caretaker turned up but he had grown his hair from almost bald to full shoulder length and looked like a redneck. very odd!

Cate555 · 09/05/2013 18:32

Oh Frog I'm in stiched laughing. I have this image in my head of you taking Mr Frogs temp every morning at 6am with him screaming he hates it Grin
No sign of AF today - yeay!! One day longer on the lutenal phase.

CharmingCats · 09/05/2013 20:30

Just catching up, but have to say am mightily miffed to see a dildocam for £80 when I paid £329 for mine!! Yes, I'll get it covered by insurance, but not the point as I only have £1000 limit, so it all adds up. Blood worms cost £500, so that's almost all gone now. If the scan had only cost £80 that would have been marvellous.

Also laughing at mr frog having his temp taken....

Frogcatcher · 09/05/2013 21:27

Oh God if it had been Mr Frogs temp that needed taking every day at 6am there is no way I'd be where I am now! Can you imagine if they discovered that there was some kind of optimum bbt for the swimmers too?!

Maybe your dildocam was an all singing all dancing version charming? Perhaps this doesn't include any investigations or anything? I'm guessing you had to go to certain hospitals authorised by your insurance too. Sorry to have been the bearer of miff making news Blush

BoodIeBee · 09/05/2013 21:30

Barking - if we do both end up on clomid we can at least compare notes!

Goosey, yep - I'm definitely a fully-paid up member of the short LP club. I can think of better badges of honour, if I'm honest... Hmm

As for the HSG, I had a leaflet sent through with my appointment letter which detailed the procedure. On the letter itself, there was an emboldened sentence that read Do not have intercourse from the first day of your period until after your appointment. It's rather crap of them to not have let you know beforehand!

Bunnygirlie · 09/05/2013 22:16

Hiya, just checking in. How's tricks?

Who is due AF/POAS next?

In limbo land here, CD15,blood test next week and then on holiday for a week so at least I have something to fill the 2ww. Once back from holiday, when AF arrives I will go see the doctor and see what results say, see what the next step is!

OP posts:
Cate555 · 09/05/2013 23:00

Tomorrow is CD29 for me but only 9dpp so really hoping for no AF yet. Fx.

BlindKitty · 10/05/2013 02:35

Frog thanks for link, I've sent them an email.

Boodle and tally speaking of adverts, I too loathe the Asda advert, and the amtimil advert, and the clearblue f*cking know-it-all Claire advert!!!!

boodle afraid you prob will get clomid chucked at you for a few months. If no joy though, I'd insist they start planning for something else. I asked to be put on the 4 month waiting list for iui (even though I'm still s easily taking clomid as had plenty left).

bunny re sex and Hsg, I think there's a very small risk of affecting the embryo with the radiological dye, hence why some centres advise against it. Personally (tmi coming) I had this horrid paper mâché discharge so didn't even suggest it!

Girls, advice needed! I've been completely useless this year and not planned anything for dhs bday in a few days. We're still on hol so was going to ask if hotel can get a cake and was going to see how much an upgrade to a pool villa would be. Any other ideas? Xxx

GooseyD · 10/05/2013 06:18

Can't sleep, some really annoying unidentifiable creaking noise just outside window...

Kitty and Boodle thanks for the HSG/dtd advice. I'm really lucky that have my next appointment with FC this Sat so I might dump my worries/complaints that it's so unclear on her. And luckily no paper mache discharge! (though still a few cramps) so I might just go for it for rest of month.

I'm heading for Clomid around same time as Boodle and Barking (weird that we're all on same timing with treatment as well as having short LP) - Kitty are you saying we should make sure on waiting list for iui/ivf as soon as start Clomid? I think I'm going to be anyway but it sounds like a good idea to check with them as it seems you can't really take these processes for granted. Also with my 39th bday and I think no more free treatment after that rattling towards me (11 months to go) I need to keep the pace up!

Cate I am really crossing my fingers for you that AF keeps her distance for at least another day and you're spared the short LP membership!!

Kitty do you think he'd be interested in learning to scuba dive? (if he doesn't already.) You could get him a/some lessons.

GooseyD · 10/05/2013 06:37

Pip how did your IVF appointment go?

barkingtreefrog · 10/05/2013 07:27

Kitty I'd go with goosey's advice, get DH a lesson in something. When my DP was in Thailand he did Thai cookery lessons, and Thai boxing lessons. There's something for everyone! Or if you're near the coast how about hiring a tandem kayak for the day and going paddling? I did that in Thailand.

ps I won't need to jump on any waiting list as the Clomid, combined with obsessive dtd and positive thinking is going to ensure I get updiffed on my first cycle Grin Wink . Has to be the first cycle as otherwise it's creeping further and further into a summer baby, which won't help it at school.

I actually accidentally read another conception thread (I try not to, most of them wind me up like this one did) and a woman who was a teacher and planning her #2 was telling everyone how she wasn't trying yet as she had to have the baby in the right month to get the summer holidays before maternity leave (or after, can't remember which).
Oh to be able to choose to get pg whenever you want! Angry Angry Angry Angry

GooseyD · 10/05/2013 07:32

Haha, I know, so maddening. But then I shudder to remember our early TTC days "oh well, maybe we shouldn't try for a couple of months in case we go skiiing this year" etc!

BlindKitty · 10/05/2013 08:29

Oh god, how negative of me?! Anyone would think I've lost all my optimism! Clomid has every chance of working for you goosey abd Barking My fc just wanted to keep me on it for another 3 months and I said I wanted to move on and then secretly carried on taking it not that it's made any difference

goosey excellent idea re snorkelling! X

MrsB00Mbastic · 10/05/2013 11:02

Morning lovely berries!

How about an elephant ride kitty? Although I'd check how they treat them first, not sure about animal welfare in Thailand Sad. But if it looks kosher he'll get to feel all King of the Jungle and need to do some manly inseminating and then you can make little Mowglis

Barking see, we're the best thread, no irritating instadiffy planning! A lot of people assume that I'm planning not to get diffed at the moment, 'oh of course, so sensible to wait until you've finished your course' - grrrrowwwr, I would go into labour in the middle of my finals if I had the chance!

Cate hope AF stays well away!

On the subject of adverts, I cannot STAND the ones that assume you're a mum, 'as a mum, you know what's best for your little ones' - oh bog off.

Hoping to join the Clomid gang come 21 June - assuming hycosy and SA are clear.. Hurrah, there will be a flurry of Clomid babies! If it works, I might actually use that as a name, I think Baby Clomid Boombastic sounds quite good and I'm only half joking

BlindKitty · 10/05/2013 11:42

barking I'm not sure about an elephant ride. We were meant to do it years ago and ended up falling out with the manhout (spelling?) as they usually use a hook to whack them with on their head.

Maybe we'll all have clomid babies?! I'm still hoping for the pre iui sex holiday bfp after all. Strange as every month I've had clomid I've had hot flushes, except this time when I'm in a hot country!

Oh and (tmi coming) think I've finally remembered what non baby making sex is like!!!! Wine and a jacuzzi can do wonders!!! Smile

MrsB00Mbastic · 10/05/2013 11:46

kitty ah well that counts out the ride, don't think watching an elephant getting mistreated is a good way to see in a birthday. Glad you're getting loads of just-for-fun shagging in though! Not at all jealous of your boozy jacuzzi!
