Thank you Catherine and Tilson Smile Don't know what I'd do without you lot!

I know exactly what you mean about early testing too. Think I did my first on six dpo! All this ttc definitely makes you crazy!

Catherine - hope the interview prep is going well. When is the big day?

Bnmum - any sign of ovulation today? Fingers crossed for a peak!

Finally, how did you get on today golden?

tinypolkadot · 30/05/2013 19:31

I'm bowing out for a couple of weeks now as we're going away - keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! Flowers

Goldenhandshake · 30/05/2013 19:32

Hi all! Oh Monsta my fingers and toes are crossed for a suprise BFP!

Coffee ok I am waiting to slap you Grin

Well the good news is the coil is finally out! It was a horrible experience though, they no longer offer any anaesthetic whatsoever, and the 'uncomfortable' description is wildly off the mark.

I had sever cramping during the procedure and fainted as they pulled the coil through the cervix, hurt like hell and I went into shock, uncontrollable shaking etc. I did warn them that the same happened with the insertion thats why i wanted anaesthetic. Oh well its over and done with now, have taken cuprofen so the cramps are negligible at the moment but were pretty bad until it lkicked in. They took a biopsy too, but said everything looks perfectly healthy. Seeing my womb on a screen was erm, an experience. The nurses were very lovely to me.

Im bleeding quite a bit now and (tmi alert) passed a pretty big clot.

So I am home and DH is being very lovely and taking good care of me. Im feeling a bit shaky still and strangely emotional!

Coffee1Sugar · 30/05/2013 19:57

Omg golden - no anaesthetic?! You're superwoman! Didn't they even numb the cervix locally?! Not surprised you passed out lovely, fook me you're brave! I'm guessing you're avoiding tampons to prevent infection? Did they tell you to expect bleeding? Big hugs and chocolate sent your way xx

OP posts:
Goldenhandshake · 30/05/2013 20:01

Coffee, no they don't even do that anymore Sad they inflate the womb with freezing cold liquid which wasnt painful but very strange feeling, then insert the hysteroscope, that was when the cramping started and got stronger the longer they left it in, my womb definitely was trying to reject that!

They told me to expect bleeding for about a week and cramps for a couple of days also said to avoid sex this week and no tampons for a month.

Thank you for the virtual chocolate it is much appreciated Smile

Monstamio · 30/05/2013 20:02

Gosh golden, you poor thing That sounds horrendous. Well done for sticking it out and not punching the doctor

Glad to hear that dh is looking after you.

Goldenhandshake · 30/05/2013 20:11

I was very tempted to kick her in the face Grin

Coffee1Sugar · 30/05/2013 20:13

Was your DH with you to squeeze break his hand?

Ok, so AF arrived today and I've started using an app on my phone called My Days X to track. I've been on the pill for 13 years and have just stopped taking it so no idea how regular things will be.
Starting the folic acid this week too, so once AF has gone, we can properly get started.

Coffee1Sugar · 30/05/2013 20:23

Shoegal - is it a withdrawal bleed or proper Af? If the latter, do you mind me asking what your first cycle length post-pill is? I'm only asking as this is the first month off it for me too and I'm wondering when I might expect my period (if not a very lucky bfp).

OP posts:
blueamber · 30/05/2013 20:38

golden that doesn't sound nice! I'm definitely never having a coil! Shock

shoegal84 · 30/05/2013 20:55

Hi Coffee1Sugar, it's a proper AF as I've stopped taking the pill at the time I would every month, so my body has no idea that I'm not going to start it up again in a couple of days. To be honest, I don't know what a withdrawal bleed is.

I have been taking Microgynon for 13 years. I take 21 pills, then wait about 5 days before AF arrives, usually lasting 4 days. 7 days after I stopped taking the pill, I then start the cycle over again. It's been great as I've always been able to control my cycle. Eg. If on holiday, I can just carry on taking the pill and AF won't arrive until I stop.

I honestly don't know what will happen or how regular I'll be now I'm not going to start taking it again. That's why I thought the app would be a good idea as I don't really fancy having that much personal info in my diary! Does anyone else use an app?

Goldenhandshake · 30/05/2013 21:28

Blueamber I definitely would not recommend it, cant believe how much hassle removal has been.

Coffee no i took my sister, she is a nurse so thougt she'd be more useful Wink

Coffee1Sugar · 30/05/2013 22:03

Anyone else feel dizzy when you lie flat on your back? night 2 of this now Hmm

OP posts:
1Catherine1 · 31/05/2013 08:35

Do you get dizzy often Coffee? I do every now and then and was told that it was due to slightly low blood pressure. Apparently its a good thing though so doctors weren't concerned. Are you feeling any better today?

Monstamio, the interview is Tuesday and Wednesday. Oh the torture!

DisneyDiva87 · 31/05/2013 08:46

Shoegal withdrawal bleed is the first bleed you have after stopping the pill.

Coffee I was on cerazette and when I stopped it my first cycle was 33 days. I'm counting that as my withdrawal bleed as I had spotting at the time I stopped taking it (in hindsight it probably wasn't the best timing and I should have waiting till the spotting stopped but hey ho!)

Coffee1Sugar · 31/05/2013 08:53

Is it weird that I'm nervous about having a "real period"?! I haven't had one in 9 years! And since then they've been totally painfree, last no longer than 3 days and usually tampax purple lite does the job. Now I'm mentally preparing for crazy heavy and painful!

OP posts:
DisneyDiva87 · 31/05/2013 09:19

I wouldn't worry too much Coffee before I started the pill I used to get cramps so bad that I would throw up and I was pretty worried about my first proper period after being on the pill but it was fine just discomfort from cramps. I say discomfort cause they weren't even strong enough to call sore.

Not saying you will be the same but 9 years is a long time and your body might have settled down a bit. Worrying about them won't change them you'll just stress yourself out which is not good for baby making! Keep tampons handy so as soon as af starts you can pop one in and feel clean and fresh for 6-8 hours.

Goldenhandshake · 31/05/2013 09:25

Coffee I get dizzy quite often, usually when going from sitting to standing, as 1Catherine said though, mine is due to slightly low blood pressure. I've gotten used to it now, been happening for about 8 years!

So, now my coil is finally out and I will hopefully return to normal soon, can someone please explain how I will work out my cycle length? I know it sounds stupid but I ahve never doen it, and after years of being either on the pill, one pregnancy, the pill again then the coil, I ahve no clue what my natural cycle is actually like!

blueamber · 31/05/2013 09:26

shoegal the Af you used to get while taking the pill is a 'fake period', because no ovulation took place. So they aren't real AFs, because the pill cycle instigates them. Real AFs are caused about 2 weeks after ovulation and when the egg hasn't been fertilised. So only way of knowing how your real cycles work is after you stop the pill. That first withdrawal bleed after you stop is also not a real AF. You probably get your first real AF about a month after stopping the pill, but your cycles might be irregular at first as your body adapts to being off the pill (and unless your pregnant of course!).

coffee yeah, being on the pill was handy for periods, especially as you control the time they come! I'm more worried about getting all hormonal Smile

DisneyDiva87 · 31/05/2013 09:29

Get an app for your phone Golden I have Fertility Friend and Period Diary. FF is better for predicting ovulation and PD for keeping track of cycles.

I have slightly low blood pressure too but I never notice being dizzy except for the week after my Dr asked me did I ever get dizzy. If you have lower blood pressure would you be more likely to faint/get dizzy when you are pregnant?

blueamber · 31/05/2013 09:34

golden I know what you mean! I have no idea either after being on the pill quite soon after starting AFs.

You can start by noting down when your AFs are (there are apps for that) and looking out for signs of ovulation, approximately two weeks after the first day of AF, such as EWCM, position of cervix. Some women take their temperature in the morning, or you can use OPKs or the clear blue fertility monitor. These kits are quite handy if you want to know when exactly you ovulate.

Goldenhandshake · 31/05/2013 10:14

Thanks Disney and Blue, will definitely get those apps then!

Disney I fainted a lot in my pregnancy, at least twice a week for the first two trimesters. Everytime I visisted the midwife they remarked that usually pregnant womens blood pressure goes up, but mine almost always was lower than previous visit.

They weren't overly concerned, it was just the fainting and dizzyness I had to be careful about as I commuted daily into work on the tube, and I almost always fainted on the tube!

DisneyDiva87 · 31/05/2013 10:27

Oh dear. I've never fainted before or felt close to it so if I faint I'm going to take that as a sure sign I'm pregnant. I don't know how low my blood pressure is except it's not low enough to worry about so might not make me faint even when I am preggers.

shoegal84 · 31/05/2013 16:35

Thanks blue amber. This is all just highlighting how clueless I am! To top it all off, hubby has now been told he has to travel away for work from Monday to Friday next week which is when we are hoping to start trying. is fate trying to tell us something?
