Trying to Conceive Thread . . . .3!!

Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

I really hope someone in the Saturday club gets some good news to share - will anyone here start the 'Anyone due in October' thread?? Feel better today. I try to look forward rather than back but you do wonder what it will take to have #2. Anyway will try OPK again this month, for those that use them, which do you recommend? Everytime I use them, my cycle ends up being longer than I expect and therefore I run out but plan to bulk buy this month.
sending some happy vibes to us all

jellycat · 05/02/2004 09:46

Bluestar - I tried the Clearblue ones, which have 7 sticks per pack, but had the same problem as you - had a couple of long cycles and ran out of sticks before getting a surge. That's why I decided to get a Persona, because it tells you when to test and in the long run I decided it would be cheaper. Hopefully it'll work and will end up being more expensive though! I'm sure you can get OPKs on the internet which might work out cheaper than buying in the shops.

Azure, I think it might be better if you completely restart your Persona, otherwise it will get confused about when you should test (Quackers, do you think that's right?). After all, the main reason for wanting to store lots of data on your cycles would be for contraceptive purposes I should think. Even if restarting it means you don't get an `O' the first month you could still go by the lines on the sticks.

Quackers · 05/02/2004 12:52

Jellycat, you're dead right, Azure you had a m/c and that means your cycles will be so different now. Restart your persona and go by the lines as Jellycat says for the first months, well hopefully you won't need more than a couple!! You should save money by using persona then. I do like clearblue though too if you know your cycles pretty well.

Azure · 05/02/2004 13:28

I restarted / reprogrammed the Persona a fortnight ago, it was the AF only 9 days later that confused me. Thanks for the input - looks like it's back to square one again. Grrrr.

BigBird · 05/02/2004 14:01

Ermentrude - broken nights commonplace here too !
I hardly ever have 3 hours of sleep before taking temp but it doesn't seem to make much difference. I'm still getting a low line followed by a high line generally.

Jellycat - happy bding.

My next ov should be just after Valentines weekend ! How appropriate
Am starting the plans already !!

Well - I have had some good news. I had a scan today and it looks like I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant with an estimated due date of 4 October. DH and I had decided to take a break but as is the way of these things we got pregnant! In hindsight we did have rather alot of bding and were also very relaxed!!!! I took the test last week after I realised I was late (had last period on Christmas day). Then had a bleed on Saturday night and Sunday morning, but the doctor at the hospital said I had a cervical erosion which was nothing to worry about.

I am still very nervous after our trials last year but I have another scan next Friday at the follow-up to the miscarriage clinic. So fingers crossed.

BTW - all my tests from the miscarriage came back and showed no problem as well. So good news all around.
