Right oh.

I thought the TTC Thread no. 2 was getting a bit depressing and we all need cheering up with extra sprinkles of babydust, so I thought I would start a new thread.

I also have a motive - having looked back at the last 4 ttc threads I have noticed (being the sad person I am) that the thread originators all became pg during the life of the thread.

So . .

Here's me:

24 years old, DD 16 months, ttc since September.

Anyone joining me on this nw, happy thread?

OP posts:
dejags · 12/02/2004 10:41

Congrats Fisil & Harman!!!

All the best for happy, healthy pregnancies.

futurity · 12/02/2004 10:48

My last AF started on the 10th January which makes today day 34 I think? Last two cycles were 29 and 31 days so I figure that I was due around then. With DS my cycle was 29 days without fail so when I was due on the Saturday and nothing happened I tested on the Monday and bingo!

Oh well..nothing I can really do but wait.

hana · 12/02/2004 12:48

Futurity - my AF 2 cycles ago was nearly 2 weeks late and I spend a great deal of money on tests.....I think I was just so stressed out about ttc and m/c etc etc.....of course am hoping that your result won't be the same and you get some great news soon. Sorry

Harman- good things happen in threes ( if you're so inclined to believe in those things!) so that's you, eyelash and fisil! Many congratulations for a healthy happy pregnancy.
Time for the next set of luck to start now....who's it going to be? (All of us out there saying ME ME ME Me please!!!!!!!)

I'm on CD 16 and have been told no bd b/c I'm having a smear test tomorrow. Think that DH is secretly pleased about this and having a break....so think the timing has been a bit out this month.
And my results - a long long story short - the lab say they didn't get the blood. Incredibly frustrated and upset about this and regretting not going privately - they now have to be repeated.
Thank god I'm going away for a few weeks to Canada (yah!!!!!!) so can put it all aside for a while.
hana

futurity · 12/02/2004 13:05

Hana - 2 weeks late..blimey! You must have stressed out big time about that. I'm not even a week late yet so I should stop complaining when there are others who are having a much tougher time than me. Feeling a bit better now..felt crap this morning due to tiredness. For the first night in a while DS slept through but I still woke up 3 times needing the toilet (to which my DH replied..you must be pregnant!)

bunny2 · 12/02/2004 13:15

Futurity, I didnt get a pos till day 34, dont give up yet.xxx

Hana, what an anticlimax. Dont they realise how important these tests are to you? I remember when they screwed mine up, I went ballistic. So sorry, I know how you feel.

Anyone heard from ChaCha?

PandaBear · 12/02/2004 13:37

Hi,

New to this thread - just started TTC so hope you don't mind me joining you. Have one DD who is 20 months old and hoping for not too long an age gap!!

Just wanted to say Good luck to all of you who are waiting to find out if they are pg - I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Azure · 12/02/2004 13:42

Hello and welcome to the thread PandaBear. Best of luck in ttc.

Kay1 · 12/02/2004 13:59

Well done Harman - sounds like a positive!

Futurity - it must be really awful waiting and not knowing - so please don't feel you shouldn't be complaining - I've only ever been one day late and was climbing the walls (not literally) but you know what i mean.

and hello Pandabear - good luck in ttc

BeckiF · 12/02/2004 16:24

Much love and happiness to all the successes! I am currently on day 124 of my cycle .... yes really! No sing of AF at all and a string of -pg behind me! I totally give up and HATE my body. Thankfully dp is taking me away for a romantic valentines weekend. Please send baby dust and fertile vibes our way, just in case!

BigBird · 12/02/2004 16:34

welcome pandabear!

Becki - you will have to win the prize for longest cycle I think

I get frustrated waiting the 28 days - you must be off the scale.
Wishing you all the best of luck !

hana · 12/02/2004 16:49

BeckiF - definately get the medal. How awful...esp with the tests - do you buy them in batches on the net? Or have shares in ClearBlue?

Welcome PandaBear - hope you're not here too long! And Futurity you complain and moan all you want. We all have dif cycles and histories and we're certainly all entitled to complain about our own realities.
Have a great romantic weekend everyone!

futurity · 12/02/2004 17:22

Thanks for all your support..it means alot to me. I just worked out that I haven't really been off the pill since I was 18 (apart from pregnancy and breastfeeding) so even though I assume I always had a "normal" cycle my memory is probably hazy!

BeckiF: Day 124!!! Wow! Is your cycle always that long/unpredicatable?

ChaCha · 12/02/2004 17:46

Hey again everyone!
I think my msg got lost in a swarm of posts - Congratulations to all the BFP's

CD8 today..pls keep your fingers crossed.
What are the most common signs of ovulation? Should you BD everyday or every other day? Or every three days? If ovulation is CD13 how should I time it?

Is the 'keeping your legs in the air for a while' after BD really something that works?

Thanks All...
Hey Bunny, how's it going?

Moomin · 12/02/2004 19:02

Chacha - some people get a pain in one side when they ovulate. You might notics a change in cervical mucus (yep - lovely aint it?). On the days before you ovulate it may become like egg white, see through and stretchy. This usually means you'll ovulate imminently. Best days to BD are on the run-up to ovulation so there is lots of eager sperm to meet the egg (or so the theory goes - forgive us veteran ttc-ers if we sound a bit cynical !) Every other day or every three days is recommended so the sperm is healthy and fresh (bleugh)
If you have a 28 day cycle in theory you will be ovulating around day 14 but this does vary greatly. To be absolutely sure, you can buy an ovulation predictor kit (opk) about 20 quid from chemists'.

Moomin · 12/02/2004 19:04

And, yes lots of people swear by the bum under the pillow business - gives the sperm a help in the right direction. Around 20 to 30 mins should be fine. Good luck!

bunny2 · 12/02/2004 19:13

Hi ChaCha, good luck, make sure you plump up your pillows!

According to my consultant, the bleeding prob means I didnt ovulate all that shagging for nothing (well, it was nice anyway). Apparently temperature charts and OPKs are not infallible methods of detecting ov, only a 21 day blood test gives definate answers.

tillymint · 12/02/2004 19:38

Harman
Congratulations
I'd call it positive. How do you feel?

futurity · 12/02/2004 20:57

Just been speaking to a friend who is an expert in ttc. She recommends Clearblue as the best test as other tests need higher levels of that HCG (is that it?) hormone. She also says to do test first thing in morning as best not to pass urine for 4 hours to get a good reliable result. Also that night urine has more hormones in it. She thinks that I am either pregnant but with not enough hormones or that I am not pregnant and my body is still adjusting to coming off the pill.

So I wait until tomorrow morning where I will use the second Predictor test I have already.

ChaCha · 12/02/2004 22:29

Great. Thanks for the info. Will certainly try that on the run up to ovulation. When can you start using the OPK's? I am CD8.

Cheers!

jellycat · 12/02/2004 22:55

Hello Pandabear, nice to `meet' you!

Oh hana, how frustrating for you. I've just read your message on the other thread. I've had something similar happen to me (hospital messed up with a blood test after m/c). Are you going for the blood test and the smear tomorrow? Good luck, I hope it isn't too horrible.

Oh bunny , I hope your consultant's wrong.

ChaCha, I have used Clearblue OPKs and IIRC the instructions say to start at about day 11 if you have a 28 day cycle. If your cycle is longer or shorter, you start a bit later or earlier - the instructions give guidance on this. HTH.

Night night everyone.

futurity · 13/02/2004 07:24

Morning all. Well..did as friend suggested and negitive again! Really don't think I am pregnant.just my body playing silly b*ggers!

Moomin · 13/02/2004 08:08

futurity - what a bummer
I'm asolutely convinced that getting wound up about it all negates other ways we use to help conception along. The amount of people I know of now who give it a rest for a while, or give up altogether or forgot when they're due on and then become pg...
Anyway, I'm off to my reflexologist/ nutritionist today so I'll see what she has to say and report back.
Yes, bunny, I'd forgotten about the blood test. Your GP will recommend you have one if you're having problems ttc. I had one last month (have been ttc for just over a year now). The test looks at the level of progesterone in your blood, which indicates if you've ovulated.

niknik · 13/02/2004 08:09

Futurity - Did you test with Predictor again this morning. I tested with Predictor twice and got negatives even though I was 5 days late. Tested later that day with Clearblue and it was as highly positive. Good Luck

futurity · 13/02/2004 08:26

Moomin: I totally agree with you...I am trying not to get wound up about it but it just creeps up on you and you can't help it!

niknik: yes..it was predictor and I am now between 4-6 days late. I think I will wait until next week before trying Clearblue...assuming AF doesn't turn up of course!
