Hi all, I happened on this thread yesterday, so I apologise first about butting in. I already have 3 kids (youngest 10) from my first marriage. I've had one failed IVF attempt with fresh embryos last month and have had a FET a week and a half ago. My pg test is on thurs the 9th of sept and i am going out of my mind waiting! it's so nice to know that they're more of you out there though. I don't feel so alone now.

DelGirl · 03/09/2004 13:42

awww sushi, welcome to the ivf thread. Are you new to MN?

The 2 week wait seems like a lifetime doesn't it? Well I wish the very best of luck, keep us posted.

sushee · 04/09/2004 03:13

Hi DG. Yes, I'm new. I only just found this site a cpl of days ago. I'm feeling kinda down coz I cheated and did a home pg test this morning and it was negative. I'm still five days away from my blood test, but the home test says it's accurate up to 7 days before your period. I feel like such an amatuer at this. They put two really good embryos in this time and I was thinking "surely...".

Grizzly · 07/09/2004 21:20

Sushee - I've had 4 attempts - 3rd one successful, now have beautiful ds, 12 months old. Every time I tested before the official date, and every time was negative - so it proves nothing that you had a negative result. You will have to wait till the official day to be sure. All I can say is - when it's negative you feel like shit, when it's positive you feel fantastic. There's nothing at all you can do to change things. I'm new to the IVF thread - I booked in today for a frozen embryo transfer - this will definitely be our last attempt as I'm now 42. The embryos were frozen after our second attempt two years ago. Eventually you have to say 'enough' and accept you've done all you can.

Hi Del Girl. I've posted message on other sis thread. Great to see that you are ok. All going splendidly with sis. BFP this morning on day 16 post transfer. She is delighted but very hesitant to get excited because of previous mis. Hoping that all will continue to be ok for you and her. Have good feeling about this one!!
Keep taking one day at a time and you WILL SUCCEED THIS TIME! Am off now to have a mild nervous breakdown. The waiting game is so terribly difficult. You just wish that you could fast forward a couple of months........... will keep in touch.

Hi Ladies, well my 1st appointment is at LGI for IVF this week (9th Dec), was due to go in October but my appointment was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances, what will happen at this 1st appointment, anyone out there that can help. I have PCOS and have 1 DD already thanks to Metformin, Clomid, 2 lap and Dyes, Ovarian drilling and so on etc, etc, etc. Now because of my age, been on clomid for 6 months, and have been referred to Leeds for IVF, very nervous, but very anxious at same time, have been speaking quite alot to my DF Cookie Monster who having never met her has been a total pillar of strength, but I need input more input, DH is up for it and so am I, but as above, very very scared, fliping my lid at the slightest comment, someone please reply.......

rubyt · 07/12/2004 14:59

Malinki
At my first appointment for IVF my Consultant went through all the tests/procedures we had already gone through - just ticking them off the list to make sure all the alternatives to IVF had been tried - we had had most of the procedures at the same hospital (ovarian drilling/chlomid etc). Essentially with all that covered the first appointment was then a timetabling exercise for the actual IVF. The consultant asked what day of my cycle I was on - figured out where I was going to slot in with their ongoing IVF programme and then worked backwards from that date as it were - therefore I was at that satge told what date I would start the suppressants/when I would be scanned/when I would start the injections/when I would have the last BIG (ovary ripening injection)/when I would have egg collection/when I would have embryo transfer. All of these dates depend on how you respond to the drugs - in my case it took a week longer to respond so all the dates for colllection/transfer were a week later than planned. The benefit is that I could warn my work. The procedure wasn't that bad - we now have a beautiful son and we are going back to the same hospital in the spring to try again. Good luck!

malinki · 08/12/2004 17:20

Hi Rubyt, thanks for that.. I am still not looking forward to it though, I am scared of needles, well not once they are in, its the build up, at least I know what the 1st appointment will be like.

Portree · 08/12/2004 19:46

Hi Malinki, really not much else to add to Ruby's post other than reiterate a one step at a time approach. It really was a series of hurdles with the next stage depending on you getting over the first one. Will I be suppressed? OK, right that bit's worked, now will the drugs work and will I respond, what will happen if I get to egg collection and the follicles are empty and so on. I had such low expectations and I think that helped keep me on an even keel. If it helps here is my calendar \link{http://www.calsnet.com/project_ttc}

Portree · 08/12/2004 19:48

Can't get it to link I'm afraid. No need for password or anything. If it brings up 2004 then at the bottom of the screen go to 2003 and then January. Sorry in bit of a rush.

rubyt · 09/12/2004 09:33

malinki - I can't abide injections either - I have to look away when I have blood taken! For this reason I was drading IVF BUT the injections are administered through one of those diabetic like pens (where the needle is hidden from view) and the dose of medication is dialled up. It's only a small needle and afterthe first go I really didn't feel a thing - very quick and painless. Hence I am quite happy to give IVF another go! Good luck for today!
