Me first this time. Smile

It may only be May 4th, but I'm out for this month (although technically AF due 30th May - I just like starting new threads).

Hc yes he's considered it but never really got round to it. When we were ttc for ds he had a sperm test done then, and at the time the result came back slightly low but the gp said that any number of things could affect sperm, and given we'd been on holiday to Australia 3 months previous she said that it wasn't that uncommon then. I fell pg that month so it wasn't an issue. This time the gp said I should be tested first and dh should be tested later if my tests came back normal and we hadn't fallen pg within three months after me getting results .. obviously I don't think this was good advice as I know that most couples are told to be tested together. Anyway dh did say that he would make appointment etc, but tbh there's always been a reason for him not to. He was going to go in May but because I hadn't had a proper period and gp thought I was pg (despite negative tests) he didn't go then as said there was no point as "if you're pregnant that iliminates the need to go", even though pregnancy hadn't been proven and obviously I wasn't pregnant. Apart from that though he works in London and so it's difficult for him to get an appointment with our gp as that means him taking time off work both to go to gp, then to do the test and take it to the hospital and to have to go back to the bp for the results. Not really that practical. Tbh I think that he thinks that he's got the problem, he works long hours, is constantly tired, travels a lot, and feels these are all things that can contribute to a low sperm count, I think that maybe not finding out means that maybe, although he thinks he's probably got a problem, he doesn't have to admit it, either to himself or anyone else. I can totally understand that as I know that men feel that their partners might resent them if they're unable to give her another baby. I wouldn't resent him, I'm fairly sure I have problems as well given my recent eratic cycles, but it's something he can only decide for himself, I can't pressure him into it, I just know by the tone of his voice when I ask about gp apt he thinks I'm getting on at him, so imo it's time I just kept it shut and faced the reality.

Hopecat · 13/06/2006 12:22

That's tough wannabe. It sounds like he's starting to consider it, though, which is hopeful and that you're doing exactly the right thing by biting your lip. It also sounds like your DH would like another child, so hopefully that'll be the prompting he needs.

You're obviously very patient. I always mean to keep my mouth shut, then end up blurting it all out in an argument - not constructive!

wannaBe1974 · 13/06/2006 12:28

well we'll see. he said he was going to make an appointment for Friday as he gets to finish work early on Fridays during the summer. I'm not going to ask him if he has/is going to make the appointment, am guessing that he'll tell me if he does. If he doesn't make it this week then I think it will most likely just be forgotten and I will never mention it, or pregnancy, or babies again :).

peachygirl · 13/06/2006 13:00

it would be good if your Dh got tested Wannabe, It must be really hard form men as (in my experience they are not the best patients anyway)
I would book that holiday it will give you something to look forward to and Lota said a while ago people were always coming into the travel agents to cancel!

coggy · 13/06/2006 20:23

WannaBe - that sounds like good news about your dh.
Mine was really worrried about his initial tests I think. I dread to think how he'll react if we need IUI and he'll have to 'perform' in a hopspital room somewhere!! Shock
I have so far failed to mentiom that this may happen!

Thanks Hopecat - yes it was my ds's birthday at the beginning of June...thankfully it'll be in half term each year I think so that's worked out well.

CD23 today....why does this bit take sooooooo long??!!

Hopecat · 13/06/2006 20:36

My poor DH has been having to give regular 'samples' in hospital rooms since he was an adolescent. He doesn't even think about it now - just goes and gets on with it.

I suppose one way of looking at our situation is that at least we've known about our fertility issues from dot (unless I've got some fertility issue we haven't discovered yet...shouldn't go down that road).

coggy · 13/06/2006 20:38

No..best not to worry about anything else Hopecat!
Just off to pick my dh up from work and get him some fish and chips on the way home (I had salad for my tea!!!!!!)

Hopecat · 13/06/2006 20:43

Coggy - you are a diet angel. Grin

HC, I say, a man that can cook and bd every day - what a star!

Beccy1974 · 14/06/2006 08:00

Hi girls - good luck to everyone still trying and hang on in there

my first month of peeing on the sticks showed ovulation on CD10 - so grabbed hubby sun nite & let him off duty y/day. hope that works.

pinkranger · 14/06/2006 10:26

Hi Beccy - I have some pee sticks but when i worked it out it told me to test from CD14 onwards , do you have a short Cycle or did you just decied to do it earlier ??? I am new at this tbh Grin

Beccy1974 · 14/06/2006 10:33

hi pinkranger

well to be perfectly honest, i was out, thought hmm he's banned me from buying yet more pregnancy tests; i know i'll get my o sticks - have them ready. of course, minute i got in i thought, i'll have a go. obsessive me.

and it showed up as the two lines, as instructed.

i'm new to it too, and just had first 'proper' cycle since 3 years of having the mirena iud. i think it was 30 or 31 days, which does mean an earlyish ovulation.. but i hear its not totally unknown. fingers crossed..

how long have u been trying?
b

pinkranger · 14/06/2006 10:37

Hi B , have been trying for 3 months ( only little while i know) but have DS of 3.7y so i dont want to hugh gap -
3 moths seems like forever , but trying to bee really calm and not want it to much ( yea right) im going to start my testing tomorrow Smile how about you ??

I am only on CD 9 so i am over on the postive july thread aswel!!

peachygirl · 14/06/2006 13:16

HI
Just to let you all know at the moment I'm still spotting. The full story is on the temping thread. Love to all and hello to new ladies good luck

wannaBe1974 · 14/06/2006 15:55

hiya all :)

well cd24 and hoping my af will arrive soon. sore boobs have disappeared though so dunnow what's happening, they were sore yesterday and now they're not, lol. Sore boobs are always a simptom of af for me, previously I thought they were a simptom of pg but then as my af always seemed to turn up I ditched that theory and put them down to a simptom of iminent af.

hope everyone is ok?

Hopecat · 14/06/2006 16:46

Hi Becky and pinkranger - enjoy weeing on your sticks. When I could be bothered to use them I'd fantasise that they were HPTs and get absurdly pleased when the two lines came up. An empty life indeed.

Wannabe - hope things are more straightforward for you this month - one way or another.

SOL - yes, my husband is magnificent. (Sometimes. When he's not driving me up the wall with his bloody PS2).

CD14 today - my halfway mark.

Sexonlegs · 14/06/2006 20:57

Hi HC. I was the same with the ov sticks last week. I got my 2 lines and I was as giddy as a goat! Poor dh didn't know what had hit him - dragged to the boudoir he was!!

Hopecat · 15/06/2006 11:30

Hello! CD15 today. TMI ALERT...

Last night DH & I started BDing, and he hit my cervix really hard (not on purpose) - it hurt!

Worked out that this was because it was particularly low last night, so that coupled with plenty of CM leads me to think I'm in my fertile period.

We're still going to keep going until at least CD22, but I'm pretty sure my luteal phase is roughly 2 weeks.

How's everyone else today? Looked at the temping thread and Peachy's AF still hasn't come. Are you going to hold out until the weekend Peachy?

Beccy1974 · 15/06/2006 12:09

hi everyone

same day as you hopecat, or a day the other side, but i think i ovulated day 10, or at least .. clearblue test showed 2 lines on sunday. can these be wrong? bd'd sun, mon & tues, but was tired and hot and lost the interest.. hope i haven't cut my chances.
not sure if ovulation has now passed but certainly feel i'm having same sort of 2nd half of month as last month, same sort of cm, starting to feel 'sicky', but not totally naussous, and (.) (.) are feeling a bit uncomfy.

OR MAYBE I@M JUST PARANOID

b x

Hopecat · 15/06/2006 13:57

Hey Becky - I expect you did OV then, but those things can be wrong due to some women having more than one LH surge in a cycle. (look up Atillathemeercat in the archives for more info).

We're not BDing every day. Decided to do it 3-4 times a week this month (basically Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights plus Sunday mornings). Otherwise it gets a bit too mechanical.

Good luck to you with your symptoms. You might be reading too much in, or you might be pg! Hope it's the latter.

OP posts:
Beccy1974 · 15/06/2006 14:00

no, i'm sure i am reading too much in.

wannaBe1974 · 15/06/2006 14:08

hi all :)

Beccy nausia can be caused by a lot of things that might not necessarily be hormonal, could even be the stress of ttc and thinking about feeling nausious when the time comes - the body can play tricks. If you're only on cd15/16 it's far too early to have any signs of pg.

Am on cd25, according to when I think I ovulated my af should arrive tomorrow as I'm generally a 14 dpo person, but of course it's not an exact science so who knows lol.

Beccy1974 · 15/06/2006 15:17

just re-read. by symptoms i just meant am getting used to cycle and what happens when in the month... not thinking for a min that you get sickness within a day or two of ovulation lol
