Here's our shiney new thread. The one where I finally get upduffed with everyone else! Smile

2minds · 01/06/2013 11:25

Have been lurking on this thread for a while & have decided to join you all. :-)

I am 40 years 8 months and DP & I have just decided to take the plunge & TTC a child together. I have been with him nearly 6 years & would love to give him a child of his own (I have 2 children from a previous relationship but he has no children), however after suffering a MMC 3 years ago, I am very worried. I also keep feeling I have left it too late & googling statistics online is not helping matters!Confused

Isabeller · 01/06/2013 20:14

Hi hopeful have been taking progynova 2x 2mg twice a day since before embryo transfer (also other stuff) apparently will need to keep taking it till 12wks xx

2minds · 01/06/2013 20:45

What is progynova?

I am so nervous after my MMC (which took me a long time to get over) but feel I would regret not trying for a child with DP if I left it too late. I just wish I could rewind my body back 10 years!

jass43 · 01/06/2013 20:58

Welcome. 2minds, and goo d luck.Statistics can no apply to a single individual in any way, ou never know before you try. But sometimes trying is hard at our age, true.

Hopeful, progynova is a drug to use in menopaus,e it is contraindicative in pregnancy. I would be very confused I I were you. It is only to alleviate climacteric symptoms in post menopausal women. You would need utrogestan, if you want oral form. But oral is supposedly less effective than pessaries. Call your doctor certainly before you touch it.

Hope that Calibee has her successful OV at her wedding night and they will live happily ever after with a new baby.....

hopefulgum · 01/06/2013 23:37

Isabeller, what else are you taking with the progynova? And what day of your cycle did you start taking it?

TBH I think the doctor made a mistake. I think she's done it based on what her other patient had, and the other patient was also given progesterone. It's very confusing so I won't be taking it until I know what is going on. I wouldn't mind taking it to plump up my lining (as that is what it is used for in fertility clinics), but I still think I will need progesterone.

It was a simple request, which now has my brain doing sommersaults!

Welcome 2minds. I think you have an excellent chance of having a baby, you are still relatively young in my mind.

Isabeller · 01/06/2013 23:40

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know exactly what the progynova is doing that is relevant to maintaining pregnancy but it might be helping maintain the womb lining. Jass is right about it being used in menopause but it has been prescribed to me in both IVF cycles (along with other things) and I am not menopausal.

Tired waves to all (just for today I am still pregnant Smile)

Isabeller · 01/06/2013 23:41

Cross post hopeful Smile I had cyclogest (maybe progesterone?) both times and this time CLexane and aspirin has been added xx

CaliBee · 02/06/2013 15:24

Just a quick visit to say we had a fantastic day yesterday. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful famiy and friends.
I have popped a quick picture on for yiu to nose at Grin
I will be back soon x

Isabeller · 02/06/2013 19:18

Smile Flowers beautiful Flowers

2minds · 02/06/2013 19:24

Thanks for the welcome. :-)

I used to say 40 was my cut off but having met my new partner and only just having sorted getting settled in a house together, the time has not really been right until now. I still feel young but am aware my body isn't so am feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing. It is good to be able to talk to others in the same boat as I haven't shared the fact I am TTC with anyone other than my DP.

Haven't had much opportunity to DTD this month so don't hold out much hope. Have started taking pre natal tablets though which seem to make me feel a bit sicky. May be all in my head though!

isadorable · 02/06/2013 19:49

So lovely - you look so happy! My dd has had an asthma attack - she is two - stuck in hospital all weekend poor twinkle :-(

2minds · 02/06/2013 19:55

Sorry to hear about your DD, is adorable. Hope she is feeling better soon, poor little thing. Sad

hopefulgum · 02/06/2013 23:25

Aww, Callibee, you two look so happy. Congratulations! You really do look gorgeous.

Isadorable, I am sorry to hear that your DD is in hospital - that must be very stressful for you. I hope she's well again soon.

Not much to report here. It is getting closer to O time, so I'm amping up the SWI (Sex with intent). I really do think my DH is a bit slow in some ways. He doesn't seem to notice that at certain times of the month I like to have more sex. I guess he's just grateful the drought is broken, and doesn't really notice how regular it isHmm

Anyway, who knows how much SWI we'll have this week. I am taking a low key approach this month anyway, as although I would welcome a pregnancy with open arms, in some ways, not being preggers for our trip to a tropical paradise/third world country might actually be better. So either way, I think I will be okay, despite the time bomb ticking away very loudly! Grin

Calibee Lovely photo!
2minds welcome, this is a lovely supportive thread.
I finally got a positive opk on saturday, I was just about to leave for a wedding, so I quickly poas while dh was waiting impatiently in the car. I was so looking forward to spending an evening away, but was kicking myself in the morning, I got carried away had a few too many black currants Wine and passed out when we got back to the hotel! Blush Not very healthy ttc practice! Managed to dtd twice on Sunday so hopefully all is not lost! Maybe I can seduce dh this evening just to make sure!
isadorable I hope dd recovers soon
gum I too intended to take am a low key approach , I cant belive I wait and wait to ovulate, to bloody stuff it up!

My step daughter rang to say shes expecting dc3, of course i said we were delighted to hear this news but secretly Envy
Have a good day everyone !

jass43 · 03/06/2013 19:05

Calibee, lovely to hear your wedding was exactly as you wanted it!

Mumalah, people who drink and have drunken Sex irresponsibly get pregnant all the time, so well done, methinks. And please remember - our stepdaughter's fertility is independent of your troubles. I always remind me that no one else being fertile is n no way relAted to me being infertile - their fertility is not taken from me. It is theirs as is my infertility. I find it helps to remind myself that.

Isadorale, I hopeDD is already better!

I seem to have ovulated a mere 7 days after mc of the chemical pregnancy. Seems my body has got on that something is wrong with my fertility and is stepping up the part of the process it still can do - Laying eggs.... I guess I will do no progesterone support at all this cycle, as it tends to move OV ahead. Did the deed though on right days, even if think itwuld be wiser nor to instadiff again. But just could not let the OV pass....

littlepinkfizz · 03/06/2013 19:37

Good evening ladies! Doesn't calibee look fab!every bit as young as her DH ( very tasty!)!

Welcome 2minds hoping you conceive your much wanted baby very soon.

Can hardly believe sparkly is nearing her 3rd trimester..you're a star!

Think our cycles are fairly close gum. I'm cd 13 today and my opk have been giving me high fertility these last 3 days but still waiting on the peak symbol to appear. Thought it would have been today....? Dtd fri,sat and sun nights. Tonight is out as DP is exhausted but hope we will e back on track for tomorrow night.

Am going to try that egg meets sperm plan... Anything to give us a better shot. Does anyone else reckon its any good?

Poor you mumalah. How hard it is to be joyful when you hear news of a pregnancy.

Greetings and love to all from Ireland x

mozzarellamummy · 03/06/2013 21:36

..wonderful photo and hubby calibee!!
isadorable hope yor DD is doing better..
littlepink I heard from people who felt pregnant rather quickly with sperm meets egg plan.. unfortunately my DP is too tired to stuck to it..AngrySad
my target is now once every other day around OV time.. meanwhile I keep thinking about egg donation but don't dare to mention it to him..
jass what you say about other people fertility is really wise and it helps! Thanks

notsoold · 03/06/2013 22:29

Calibee...wonderful photo!!!

Isadorable how is DD??`

Hello everybody!!!! Have a great week!! Xxx

isadorable · 03/06/2013 22:45

Thanks for all your lovely messages. We came home about 8 as she was finally doing pretty well without oxygen though she's still wheezy. She's exhausted but delighted to have escaped... She jumped for joy and kissed us when they said we could go bless her! Very stressful but at least now we know what to do for her - it means allergy testing etc. We knew something wasn't right but not exactly what. Her first word afterwards was shoes- she couldn't wait to be reunited with her pink converse boots! Thanks again - will be back soon and be less me me me once I've slept a whole lot more.

greenlizard · 04/06/2013 07:27

Calibee Congratulations!! That is a lovely picture (you look fabulous BTW) of both of you looking so happy (your husband is a a good looking fella isn't he? GrinGrin) May you be happy in all the years to come with a baby.

isadorable glad your DD is feeling better and got to go home with you to her beloved shoes Smile...it sounds like a frightening experience but at least you know what you can do to help her now.

littlepinkfizz good luck on your egg meets sperm quest -sounds exhausting! I could never have managed it as DP and I never seem to be in the same place for that amount of time to keep it up.

Good luck mumlah and hopeful in your low key SWI'ing!

Morien · 04/06/2013 09:58

Just saying hello to everyone - I've been reading, even if I haven't so posted for a while. Having another long cycle (about 6 weeks already), but no point using the drugs I've been prescribed to bring AF on (in order to start IUI) as we're off to Morocco next week for a much-needed week's holiday. I can't wait!

What a lovely photo, cali; you both look so happy. Glad you had a good day. When is your DH (Grin) off to NI?

to everyone else - hope you're all ok.

2minds · 04/06/2013 18:01

It is good to be able to chat to others in the same boat. I don't want to discuss it with anyone in RL atm.

Can I ask what supplements you are all taking?
I am taking pre natal tablets with folic acid but was wondering if there was anything else I should give a go.

jass43 · 04/06/2013 20:45

I take vitamin D, B6 and B12, CoEQ10, omega 3, folic acid and Ca with Mg. Ostof it I do not even remember anymore what for, to be honest. I guess B vit was for better luteal phase and the others help with egg quality. Anyway, I think if I run out of them I would only replace folic acid and omega 3, in winter also D.

2minds · 04/06/2013 21:42

Thanks. I think I best go shopping for some more supplements! Saying that, the pre natal vitamins I bought contain iron, vitamin B12, folic acid and zinc. They are huge tablets! I have some omega 3 capsules too.

JBrd · 04/06/2013 22:37

I'm taking Mum-to-Be prenatal vitamins for folic acid (yes, they're huge), Omega 3, B6, probiotic vitamins (from when I was really run down, I'm just going to finish the box and then not bother to get new ones) and junior aspirin - the aspirin has been recommended by a number of people who have suffered mcs and/or are 40+, even my GP at the time (inofficially) said it might be a good idea. The opinions are divided whether you should start taking when getting a bfp, or already when ttc. I started when I got my bfp last time, reckoned it won't hurt while ttc either.

CaliBee Many many congrats to you & Mr CaliBee! Lovely pic, you look radiant and happy! Hope you're basking in post-marital bliss now Flowers

isadorable The asthma episode sounds very scary, your poor DD. Will they be able to treat it with more focus now?

Very busy here - trying to keep my head above water, juggling finding my feet in the new job, working full time, finding time for DS and DH!
Still ups & downs - this week a colleague in the office announced that his wife is pg, and her due date is exactly what mine would've been in November. Seems I can't get away from constant reminders about my miscarriages AngrySad

But I have managed to muster the motivation for dtd this week after all (oh, the hardship, I tell ya Wink) - like you, jass, I couldn't let it pass, although I had every mind to.
My temp is all over the place, FF has not yet been able to pinpoint ovulation yet - but I got a +ve OPK and a Peak reading on the CBFM, so I reckon I can be pretty certain when I ovulated. Any idea why my temps are so irrational, what influences it? I've not been getting a lot of sleep in the last few weeks, could that be it?
