The femmes fatales of the BESH are lying back and thinking of England

As witches and pumpkins become old hat, the BESH are scrubbing up well in salute to James Bond in general and Skyfall in particular. Put on your slinky cocktail dresses and stiletto heels, grab a Martini, and start schmoozing with well-dressed secret agents.

Insta-diffs will be shot with a quip but without a qualm. Anyone else wanting to join can dodge a few bullets post the BESHtionnaire.

Don't bother with it Rie, you'll be drowned in a sea of "my next door neighbour's cousin's brother in law's sister was told she would never had kids and now she has 7" type stories.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 09/11/2012 22:30

Yes. They are there is spades. I posted and no one responded. It's as though I embarrassed everyone.

No sometimes miracles don't happen.

EuroShagmore · 09/11/2012 23:52

I have some sympathy with the 6 monther.

I'm a 10+er as well as a BESH and when we started the thread, it was for 6+. We added months as the original clique went on ttcing, but stopped at 10 so we could get new members and not be quite so cliquey. Most of us are around the 2 yr mark now, but frankly, I remember at 6 months I knew something was wrong.

I finished work at 10pm tonight. I got home and made KFZK dtd. I think I laid an egg yesterday, so that's the obligation sex out of the way for this month!

MissSlapAndTipple · 10/11/2012 08:17

God damn you lot shakes fist sending me to links that then make me end up on the Chat forum. I've just read a link about a woman who died having sex with a dog. What a way to start the weekend.

rie the link you posted - I really like the 'bald' statement being made. That is pure comedy. I also have a serious amount of sympathy on the relatives diffedness. I've only got one friend at the moment with second on the way and she started TTC first after us. Second was 'an accident'. A five minute shag after 6 months of nothing..... bollocks I say. Fully expecting a few other second babies to be announced soon though. My cousins ex has just had her 4th baby. She is a C*UNT.

Speaking of comedy, I went to see a drag queen act last night, it was horrendous, soooooo very out of date, loud and just not funny. Then he finished with the 'I am what I am' and took his make up off and everyone cheered in a 'yeah you go dude, be proud of what you are, bravo for being so brave'. I think my friend and I might have been the only ones in the audience who thought it was a teeny tiny bit massively out of date. 15 years ago it might have been perceived a 'statement' but nowadays I have to say, it just seemed odd.

Euro your poor eye! That's sounds horrible. Is it feeling better now?

Sorry you're feeling so shit Winkly. Is a horrible cycle to get stuck in. I have no authority to speak in these matters and I really don't know what to suggest but I hope the couples counselling helps

SinkyGoodenplenty · 10/11/2012 09:22

It does seen a little... Queer as Folk Tipps. We have a local, quite famous, drag venue in Manchester. It seems it's quite popular, but this is the feeling I get from it - hurrah! We're men dressed as women! Kerrrr-razy!

But. We're all educated, intelligent, broad minded indivuduals. I have the pleasure of friends of all persuasions. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a bit more borax minded than most.

I suspect my job has helped develop this.

SinkyGoodenplenty · 10/11/2012 09:23

Borax minded?

Obv, broad minded was the intention

Although, after reading some threads, a touch of the brain borax might go down well...

MissSlapAndTipple · 10/11/2012 09:57

It was a bit Queer as Folk. My friend has reliably informed me though that most drag acts follow the same sort of format but usually have a bit more 'stand up' to their act (by that read 'tell jokes that are actually funny'). The older ladies in the audience found it absolutely hilarious, one lady on my table was crying with laughter. Perhaps it's just not my sort of humour. I also really don't like excessive swearing in comedy routines. Some swearing fine, but he was actually swearing himself past his punchlines to the point I didn't get what he was on about. Anyway, I could moan about it all day but it was for a breast cancer charity fundraiser so I'm still glad I went, I think they must have raised a fair bit so that's good, even if the entertainment wasn't!

MissWinklyParadiso · 10/11/2012 10:17

Not my sort of humour either. Surely it's the opposite of helpful to present "man.in a dress" as something laughable? As opposed to the lovely Eddie Izzard, for example, who would wear a dress but that wasn't the focus of the act, his actually funny routine was.

euro how's your eye this morning? Just as well you don't need perfect vision for a shag :)

How is everyone else on this grey bleak delightful Saturday?

SinkyGoodenplenty · 10/11/2012 12:09

Winkly, well put. That's what I meant, but much less eloquently. The (lovely) Eddie is funny. And happens to sometimes wear a dress. But it's not the joke of the act.

I am back from a slippy run on all the fallen leaves. Lovely morning for it, but thought I was going to break my neck several times. I will be fit for this bloody marathon. (I'm going for a sub 4 hr time. This maybe A Bad Idea. I only bloody agreed as I thought I'd be guareenteed an ironi-diff once I'd made firm plans. Sigh)

EuroShagmore · 10/11/2012 12:41

Thanks for asking ladies. The eye is much better today, so I don't need to request a change to a pirate theme. I woke up with a lot of "eye poo" this morning (lovely) so hopefully that is a sign of healing overnight. I will leave out my contacts this weekend, and then hopfully it will be fine.

sinky I've just been for a run too. My first after the banjaxed knee followed by a cold. I like running. I HATE starting running after a break. But luckily I wan't even aware of the knee until about 300 yds from home, so I just walked that so as not to push it over the edge. The extra wait to get back to it because of the cold probably helped.

SinkyGoodenplenty · 10/11/2012 14:15

Glad to hear you survived Euro. I'm not too unfit at the mo, but I remember (in the dim and distant past) when I was ridiculously fit. Breezing round 10ks just because, half marathon distances etc. What I miss most are the fell runs I used to do. Walking is just a bit slow for me, but running up hills, getting the views then falling running back down, so much fun!

I think it would kill me now.

maamalady · 10/11/2012 15:43

I don't understand how anyone can actively enjoy running. Have you always been good at it? If I'm running as fast as I can downhill over a very short distance, it's mildly enjoyable, but when I was running 5km every night I hated every step. Maybe it's because I was always shit at it, picked last at school, lapped during cross-country runs etc. so running = humiliation to me.

Cycling, on the other hand, has always been fun. HOTB and I went out on a hired tandem earlier - puddles, mud, and occasional crossing of a cyclocross course, and no mudguards... Being on the back, I ended up FILTHY. Great fun, though, and easier than we expected! We may well do it again, but next time we'll go in the cycling lycra and then the terrain won't matter Grin

Enjoyment of running comes through perseverance. Initially it's hell, every step is hard. But eventually you break through that barrier and it feels amazing! A sense of freedom, time to clear your head and setting yourself targets to achieve. I really miss it!

FriendofDorothy · 10/11/2012 16:20

Nope doesn't sound enjoyable at all!

maamalady · 10/11/2012 16:52

Hmm, but how long does it take?! Like I say, I was running every day for months and still hated it...

HOTB's friend's wife has posted a whole album of "babymoon" () photos on FB. They are quite nice pictures, all pretty bump and autumn leaves. I think I hate her - I've never thought they would want children, I can't see either of them as parents at all. And they STILL win a baybee before us.

OP posts:
SinkyGoodenplenty · 10/11/2012 17:03

What, the actual fuck, is babymoon?

Dunno about the running. Always done bits and pieces, was never the best at sports, but play a few well enough to do the whole team thing. I think I still do it as it gives me time to think, like faife says. Cycling to and from work is good for that as well though. Not sure I could coax ghj onto a tandem though draf!

(I think I mainly run because it gives me an excuse to get filthy - so your bike ride sounds mucho fun!)

MissWinklyParadiso · 10/11/2012 17:40

I go in fits and starts with running. Sometimes I really enjoy it and go loads. At the minute I'm in the frame of mind where I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. I did have a wonderful brisk walk through central London this afternoon, lots to look at and had a destination. And it saved me from the horrors of the central and Victoria lines.

I've heard of 2 kinds of babymoon. The first is in response to people saying "relax and it'll happen" so instead of stabbing the ignorant fuckers that said it the couple goes away for a chilled out shag fest. Naice.

The other is a supposed 'last hurrah' pre baby holiday. Where the woman is fat, knackered, can't drink and can't get in the jacuzzi. Pointless

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 10/11/2012 17:56

I had a friend who had a 'minimoon', a few days away with her DH and their DS after their wedding. What is a baby moon?! Delete, delete, delete draf!

I like running. I loathe cycling. I am crap with gears which makes it harder. Running is just about pace.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 10/11/2012 18:19

Running is shit.

alwyn · 10/11/2012 18:36

I like running. When I'm doing it. But getting the "get up and go" to do it takes way too much effort most of the time.

SinkyGoodenplenty · 10/11/2012 19:29

Say it how it is rie.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 10/11/2012 19:32
Grin

But it hurts! It hurts my shins and my lungs. Cycling or badminton is much more fun!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 10/11/2012 19:36

I rather enjoyed Yoga on Wednesday. My kind of pace! I did feel better afterwards. All stretched out and relaxed!

MissWinklyParadiso · 10/11/2012 19:47

Ice skating is the most fun, but it always seems to be school holidays and teeming with small children getting in my way

maamalady · 10/11/2012 23:22

This is the last hurrah type of 'moon - except she's not due until March Hmm Weirdo.

I like your style, rie Grin I loved badminton at school too, played every Friday after school for a couple of years. I should really fish my racquet out of the loft and get someone to come play with me.

Sinky you should absolutely have a go on a tandem. We giggled for ages, and I was so muddy I had to take my jeans off in the car park before driving home... So much fun!

Ice skating scares the shit out of me. I've been once and clung to the wall or my friends the entire time. Same with skiing - it looks like it'd be brilliant once you were good, but I'm too much of a wuss to try to get to that point. For this reason, I'm glad I already know how to ride a horse! I'm going to drive to my parents' tomorrow, and shall spend many hours this week on horseback :)
