"Come on ovaries! Let's get this party started, yeah?"

OP posts:
lotsofcheese · 04/12/2012 14:37

thanks for the good wishes - I'm now 16.5 weeks Calibee - hoping this will be your month!

remnant I chose amnio as I decided to have the nuchal screening at 12 weeks & use the results to decide on amnio or cvs, depending on the risk.

As I came back low risk (1: 357) I decided for amnio, although foetal medicine did wonder why I was going for the procedure with such a low risk (this small thing called peace of mind!!!)

I'm still trying to take it easy (well, been to work & now about to pick toddler up from nursery) - or, easy as I can

CaliBee · 04/12/2012 17:42

Awww notsoold I bet you are completely on edge. Maybe you are just one of the ones for whom a test doesnt really show well until a bit later...I hope so.

How was the amnio cheese? I have never known anybody to have it done and its always looked like such an uncomfortable procedure. Great that you came back as low risk on the nuchal scan though.

4dpo for me today and my boobs are already getting sore.....the curse of uncontracepted (is that a word?) cycles for me. Its going to be an extra long 2ww.

How's the Christmas shopping doing ladies?? Money is more than short for me this year so its going to be a skinny one. A year of DP not working has taken its toll....however he has promised me a "huge surprise" for my xmas and birthday present now that he is earning (although Army basic training wages are not great). Very intriguing....

Isabeller · 04/12/2012 18:10

Must admit to not being an angel, embarrassed Xmas Blush as I get do paid something (less than min wage) via council care package.

lotsofcheese · 04/12/2012 18:11

Calibee The actual amnio was fine, took seconds & was less painful than having a blood test. I think the worry & stress about it was worse than the actual procedure. I got my initial results back today - less than 24 hours. All good so far, just have to wait another week or so for the 2nd part. I know about a dozen friends/colleagues who have had amnio's, all of them in the 38+ age category. It's been a pretty straightforward test for everyone I've talked to in RL & bought peace of mind, although I appreciate that's not the case for everyone.

CaliBee · 04/12/2012 18:17

Thats reassuring news then so far cheese...fingers crossed that next weeks results are just as reassuring......ooooo its sooo exciting. Grin

hippychick66 · 04/12/2012 22:07

Miasmum - Grin you've made my day, lovie. i remember you anouncing your BFP and all the angst along the way. So so so glad that you have your beautiful son, may he bring you endless joy. Mia has sent you a little bro - i'm so pleased he's here in time for a wonderful xmas. Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks ThanksXmas Smile

hopefulgum · 04/12/2012 22:18

Cheese, glad to hear all the tests went well.

notsoold, the tests must be doing your head in,'eh?Don't forget that different tests have different sensitivities. For example the FRER tests are sensitive at 12.5 whatsits (cannot for the life of me remember, but will google), and some others are 50, so that can make a difference early on.Check out this site which explains it better.I just saw that some measure 100mIU, here which means some tests will pick it up and others won't.

I hope you'll get some peace with this soon. Did you try a digital? As long as AF has stayed away, there is hope. Hang in there, I know how difficult it can be ((hugs))

Isabeller, don't be embarassed, you are still an angel, you couldn't pay me enough to do that job! I think it takes a special kind of person to do it.

Calibee, it might be a long tww, but you have us to come along for the rideXmas Grin

My Biscuit Biscuit 's are also a little tender, which suggests to me I may have ovulated. I didn't get the usual ovulation pain, so I feel unsure, but I did have some EWCM the day before yesterday, then the almost positive opks, and today my temperature is a little up, so I am thinking I might have Oed whilst sleeping, hence not noticing. Hopefully timing was perfect and there's a nice big healthy egg and sperm dancing down the fallopian tube as I type. So I reckon I might be on the tww too.

Deige, I hope everyone is well again in your household. It's tough when everyone is unwell.Especially the smallies who need loads of love and attention when they are under the weather.

sparklysapphire · 05/12/2012 00:56

Congratulations Miaandfinnsmummy, I'm delighted to hear of Finn's safe arrival, I hope you are all doing well ThanksThanksThanks.
JBrd congratulations on your BFP, fingers crossed it's a sticky one. notsoold, good luck for your next HPT which will hopefully show a nice clear BFP!
Irish, if you're still reading, very sorry about your FIL, what a difficult, upsetting time for you all, take care of yourselves
I've been catching up, sorry to see conflict on the thread, especially as gum seemed to take the brunt of it, but it's lovely that things have settled down, and calmness prevails. Gum it sounds like you & DH are having a tough time with your parents-in-law both being unwell.
Good luck with your amnio results cheese. Diege, I hope everyone in your house is recovering/completely better. Lovely to see tinsel (aka twirly) popping in. Calibee, it sounds tough will your OH being away, but good luck for this month.
I don't seem to have had any time to MN lately hence another long absence, and I can only do this when DH not around (he's off overnight at a social, rather than work thing). I'm on CD 15 - I'm not temping or OPKing, tho I keep intending to buy OPKs and then realising it's too late in my cycle. But I don't want to put to put DH off by being too technical as I only persuaded him to TTC by telling him the chances of a baby are pretty low. As discussed earlier on the thread, I too live in hope that it could happen, though I know it probably won't, at least we'll have tried. I don't know if I should go and see my GP as I don't want to be told I have no eggs left! My plan is to DTD every other day from CD10 - 18, so far so good this month, we didn't have enough sex last cycle so wasn't surprised when AF arrived. Sorry I seem to be rambling, side effect of having to get up at 5am for work, and my plan for an early night ruined by my mum phoning at 10.30 and talking at me for an hour - it was nice to hear from her, but she didn't really take the hint that I'd been on an early shift (I hate them, I'm not a morning person). I'm off to put the bread on - I've just acquired a bread-maker so it's still a novelty Smile, then bed.

Good luck to all in the 2ww, hi to anyone I've missed. xx

TinaO99 · 05/12/2012 10:15

hello everyone

congratulations to Jbrd yay on your bfp!!!! and also of course to Mia wonderful news and I love the name fin Xmas Grin

thanks to those who asked me about my scan - all went well thank goodness and i still have two little ones in there, one was very happy to pose and was merrily kicking its little legs, the other really didn't want to be seen but did wave at us towards the end lol, I have a feeling the active one is a gril and the other is a boy! Wasn't impressed with the hospital though, they weren't even aware I was having twins and the dr I saw didn't seem to have a clue, she neglected to give me a prescription for aspirin which apparently is the recommended thing for women having twins over 40 so a midwife called me at home later to tell me! Not a very auspicious start.

I also felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb there amongst all the teenage girls and their spotty hoodie boyfriends, i'm sure they were looking around to see where my daughter was.

I then had an argument when I got home with my daughter as she didn't want me to tell her dad I was pregnant (ex husband) until after xmas in case it put him in a bad mood!!!! In the end he was absolutely fine about it but I told her in no uncertain terms i wasn't going to hold off telling people the good news to spare his feelings, we haven't been married for over ten years for goodness sake!

somewherebecomingrain · 05/12/2012 10:22

miasalexandersmummy MASSIVE congratulations! so pleased for you! Thanks Thanks Brew Thanks. How absolutely lovely Smile.

tina great news about your scan!

notsoold can't quite figure out whether it's a BFP or not but it sounds like it!

irish sorry to hear about your father in law. it's very tough.

hope everyone is doing well - Calibee hope this is the month!

xxxx

hopefulgum · 05/12/2012 11:02

Great news Tina - I am so glad all is well, you must be relieved. I am glad they let you know about the aspirin, but surprised they hadn't mentioned it before.

I can't believe your daughter didn't want you tell her dad, but I suppose she was trying to spare his feelings. I am glad you did what is right for you.

miaandfinn'smummy, I hope all is going well.

Morien · 05/12/2012 12:03

Hello everyone, can I join you?

40, ttc #1, CD1 of cycle 5 after MC at 11 weeks on 1 August. I got my BFP the first month after coming off the Nuvaring, which my gyno & others say is a good sign for future BFP's - but I can't help feeling that it might have been our only chance. So it's good to read all the posts here and remember that happy endings are still possible - congratulations where appropriate!

A word of sympathy for those struggling with sick parents - I've been through that and understand how hard it is.

greenlizard · 05/12/2012 16:05

Congratulations mia, jbrd and welcome morien...I too am a recent joiner on this thread. Sorry to hear about your MC - I have never conceived so I am unsure if I actually can but it does sound positive from your doctor that a pregnancy for you is hopeful - I wish you all the very best of luck.

sparklysapphire I don't think you are alone in not trying to scare our DP's off with some of the more "technical" aspects of TTC.

I have just been on a week's holiday which was fabulous - lots of sun, swimming in the sea, good food, sleep, BD'ing and rum cocktails (probably not so good!) I did come out of the temperature taking and OPK'ing closet as it is hard to hide when you are in a hotel room but drew the line at sharing the fact I was trying preseed for the first time. (I am 3 months into my TTC journey at 43 and am going for it on every front!!). It was quite comical nipping off to the bathroom when bd'ing was in the making and trying not to be too graphic about it but my DP thought he was driving me wild given my apparent state of erm...readiness everytime without much foreplay Xmas Wink. It got a bit tricky when he was trying to kiss me "all over" Blush and I was refusing (quite unheard off!!)

Anyway he was a bit freaked out by the OPK kit initially but seemed quite happy when I got my smiley face and certainly not enough to put him off the amount of sex we were having. He has also agreed to get his sperm tested and start taking vitamins - can anyone recommend any for men and conception?

Has anyone else used pre-seed? Do you think it helps? What do you hide from your DP's? What is your approach to alcohol? Should we drink lightly or give up all together?

Sorry for the rapid fire questions but appreciate your advice...

GL

Isabeller · 05/12/2012 21:48

It's very good to be reading so many positive things in amongst some heartache and thinking of you Irish I hope that your situation is easing in some way.

My head and heart were thrown into a spin today with news from the clinic - we could be matched with an egg donor by Christmas Xmas Shock

Mum is home from hospital (just) but I won't be able to see her until Friday Xmas Smile and Xmas Sad.

BTW does anyone know of a vitamin pill that will stop me increasing my food intake every time I do any exercise Xmas Wink I refuse to dignify this craziness by calling it a plateau...

ok, enough festive smileys, time for a Biscuit, I mean sit-up.

10000Fireflies · 05/12/2012 21:55

Just flitting in to congratulate miaalexandrasmummy on the safe arrival of Finn. Fabulous! Happy Christmas! Xx

hopefulgum · 05/12/2012 21:57

greenlizard I too keep the use od preseed to myself. But (TMI warning) i can't quite work out how to get some ofthe stuff right near the cervix. Usually i just have a more slippery entrance (on my phone so cant put in eoticons, otherwise it would be the shock one).

saphire I am in a similar boat to you with DH. He hasn't actually agreed to ttc but he also knows I am wanting a baby and leaving contraception up to him. He does.nothing about it. He also believes our chances are so slim that there is nothing to worry about. I hope I gwt to prove him.wrong.
I also have to take my temperature surrupticiously as I don't want to freak him.out.
I am on my phone again because we have had another storm and the bloody phone lines are down again. I really dont like doing this on the phone.
I will come back later if the net works again. Grrr...

MiaAlexandrasmummy · 05/12/2012 23:05

Just a line to thank you all for your lovely wishes over the past few days, they are very special and generous-hearted of you all. Finn and I are at home again, and MrMia and I are learning about him. But while wonderful, it's also so hard - we spent last night being awake in turn, as he is still clearing mucus from his body, and can't properly cough it up, which is very scary.

greenlizard · 06/12/2012 07:38

hopefulglum I bought the preseed with applicators (which are like a tampon) so in theory you can get it right up by your cervix. I haven't used the full amount suggested as this would seem to be over the top in terms of volume to me but maybe thats the point!

notsoold · 06/12/2012 08:19

green hopeful I too use preseed. Not always with the applicator and never the recomended amount. But as a lube I can't fault it:).
The only bad thing was to find out that preseed was recomended for my almost seventies parents ( sickening really to find one's parents have a sex life...my 19 yo dd probably thinks the same..)

TinaO99 · 06/12/2012 09:31

great news isabeller! you're at the start of a very exciting journey. I'm no expert but if you have any questions about the process let me know, I personally found the whole thing went very smoothly

hopefulgum · 06/12/2012 10:32

notsoold, do you have anymore news? I think last time you said you did a test and it was negative but AF had stayed away. Have you tested again? I hope you have got/get a clear positive. On tenterhooks here...Smile

That's very exciting news isabeller, I do wish my DH was open to it, I'd do donor in a heartbeat, but I just have to accept the way it is [sigh emoticon].

Welcome to morien. I am so sorry about your miscarriage. It's difficult isn't it. I hope you get your bfp soon, but in the meantime this isn't a bad place to hang out.Such lovely ladies on this thread.

I'll preface this by saying I am not trying to symptom spot this month (Oh,yeah, sure gum, we believe you-snigger Hmm), however I had those shooting pains in my left boob today, which I got at 1 dpo when I fell with my DS five years ago. It could be nothing, but it could also be something. Being hopeful is definitely in my character - can't help it,and it doesn't mean I'll be crestfallen if AF turns up.

Anyway, I must go and find something decent to wear as I am going out for dinner with the crew I do after school tutoring with. They are a lovely bunch and tonight one of them ( a lovely Indian lady) is cooking authentic Indian for us. Yum, yum!!
I'll be back in the morning to see what you lot have been up to while I slept. Thanks

JBrd · 06/12/2012 13:41

Quick hello to all! And big congratulations to Miasmummy for her new arrival, such wonderful news! All the best to you Thanks

Hope everyone is doing well - sorry for not namechecking everyone! I've not been on MN a lot recently, busy at work, busy at home, and dead tired in the evenings...
Not much happening here - I seem to be in a permanent state of waiting. Waiting for the midwives to get in touch for the booking in appointment, waiting for the consultant haematologist to see me, so that I can get the clexane, but nothing is happening. Apart from me spending lots of time on the phone each day, trying to chase things up! V. annoyed with the UK health system at the moment. The midwives and clinical practitioner both said I should get the clexane on board asap, the GP was 'oh well, within the first trimester is fine' - but my first trimester ends mid-January, and Christmas is approaching at the speed of light! GP is no help whatsoever with chasing it up, they've done their bit and written the letter Xmas Angry

I'm also a bit Xmas Hmm at still being pregnancy symptom-free... I know I shouldn't complain, but last time, ms kicked in at 5 weeks, and I was really tired and worn out. Which was awful, but at the same time reassuring. Now - nada! I'm tired, yes, but not more than usual (which is pretty much down to the fact that I'm rubbish at going to bed early). No sickness, no queasiness - well, apart from changing DS's first nappy in the morning, but tbh, they are rank, even when not pg! (We use cloth nappies, and they can pong first thing in the morning Xmas Grin)
I'm paranoid enough to still poas every other day, how sad is that?!

notsoold - any more news...? Crossing fingers for you and everyone else!

CaliBee · 06/12/2012 20:25

Good evening...hows everybody doing??
So much to comment on so I will just keep my fingers crossed for those waiting and offer a virtual hug to those with nastiness going on.
6dpo for me....absolutely nothing whatsoever to report. I will be having progesterone bloods taken in the morning to see if I did indeed ovulate last week and this will also give an idea if the clomid is at the right dose. All of this waiting is no good for us ladies with less time on our hands. Xmas Smile
Missing DP with a renewed passion as Ive not been able to talk to him since Monday and knowing he has been sleeping out in the open in this cold weather for 3 nights...raaa...shhhhh....stop woman lol.

mamaslatts · 07/12/2012 13:15

Hi all, internet has been down so offline for a bit.

Jbrd - I had hardly any symptoms with both my pgs early on, just quesiness from about 7 weeks (ish) til about 12 weeks. More 1st thing and went away when I ate something (generally had to be a bacon sarnie on white bread). Didn't totally believe there was anyone in there til the 12 week scan. Wish I'd got a scan earlier and put my mind at rest. (I had to healthy babies btw!). Check your hospital, they might have walk in early pregnancy unit who could scan you, although depends on how many weeks you are as it often doesn't show til 6 weeks.

Period now over 2 weeks late. This has never happened before (except when pg) but definitely not the case this time. Went to GP today, did yet another test, negative. He said come back in 2 weeks if no period. I wasn't on any hormone contraceptive before ttc so its very annoying. Do you just keep trying in this situation??

notsoold · 07/12/2012 17:42

Hi everyone...was reading about you all in dh phone but without means to reply...
Thanks gum and everybody else...can't name check now...
I tested on digital clearblue yesterday and got a pregnant 1-2 weeks...:) but the gp send me to blood test today to check why the variation. So the first hcg test results will be next monday.
Yesterday symptoms, today none!!!
Still i was happy until I went to the loo and there was a tiny amount of red blood in my knickers. Just put a pad and wait to see what happens :(
Oh dear....
Can one spot without losing the pregnancy???
Going to check in half hour and see...:(
Really need some hand holding...
