A very friendly and supportive thread for those taking way longer than they had ever expected to make a baby.

heart what a relief to hear the heartbeat and I hope that the bleeding stops soon. I can't imagine how stressful today must have been for you. Sending you warm wishes and comfort.

lemon I think you're doing absolutely fantastically, given what a shitty summer you had. Sorry your other half is sad now - I hope he feels better soon.

euro sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you get a good sleep tonight. Well done you for managing the baby visit - it will be you and Mr euro soon.

sar sorry that you're still feeling worried about your tubes. You've been amazing on this thread and I hate the thought of you upset. I know January must seem a long way away for your op, but things are moving forward for you and the New Year will be here before we know it.

joy sorry that you were nervous for no reason - that's always frustrating.

mrsd boo to annoying pregnancy blog and yay that you're out of the tent [hsmile]

nelly brilliant that you are so busy - there's nothing better than distractions to take your mind off things, and it sounds like you have loads on your plate at the moment.

rabbit moon burrow sounds delightful [hgrin] and replacing ttc with fun stuff sounds like an excellent plan!

buzz hope you and Kayla are doing well - I absolutely loved your story about her and the coitus interruptus! [hgrin] [hgrin] 'frantic meowing' - classic!

princess I am so pleased you're still popping in, we miss you! Sorry that you are feeling so sick - that must be horrible. Don't feel that you can't moan about it, feeling crappy is feeling crappy, even if it is for a good reason! [hsmile]

artemis did you hop on the banana bread train in the end? I am jealous that MrA cooks for you - MrC (can't think of anything clever to call him) has two specialities - sandwiches (egg and cheese McMuffin style, and sliced turkey and cheese) and salad dressing. While my dad was here, he cooked for us and it was heaven, made me feel very loved to have someone else bustling about the kitchen whipping up delicious suppers!

Well, things are back to normal here - everyone is back at work now, and my dad flew home this evening. Rather nice to have a three-day week! We played a lot of very nerdy board games, ate a lot of crisps (mellow your sister was not wrong when she said that everyone in DC was buying potato chips and beer to ride out the storm) and drank a lot of wine. I also talked to my dad about IVF - he was great about it, and told me that for three years he and my mum didn't think they could have kids. I felt so lucky that I could talk to him and have that family support - it really meant the world. [hsmile]

EuroShagmore · 01/11/2012 10:35

heart that is great news. The scan must have been so nervewracking for you.

Critter it's interesting that your parents took a while. Mine did too ( a year, in their early 20s). It's great that your Dad is being supportive. Beer and crisps sounds like a great way to ride out the storm!

I'm feeling rather better today. I have more energy somehow. I was completely wiped out yesterday.

I keep looking at the photo of me holding the baby yesterday and getting v broody.

mrsmellow · 01/11/2012 10:41

heart what a relief, fingers crossed this bleeding stops soon and you can enjoy being pregnant

critter sounds like the storm brought you some lovely time with your Dad and so lovely that he's understanding. We haven't told any family, it doesn't feel like something to mention over the phone - we'll see how it goes when we get home. I feel bad about not telling my sister - but she's older and single and it seems somehow insensitive Sad I know she worries about having kids herself.

I've had 2 friends have babies this week - a boy and a girl. Keeping the world evenly populated Smile And keeping the SA postal system going Grin

akuabadoll · 01/11/2012 11:40

heart great news on the scan, I do hope the bleeding stops.

Sorry to hear 'bout the bucket Princess but all in a good cause...

euro feeling any better? My boys are both a bit sick at the moment.

Good to hear you Mrsd and rabbit , glad to know you are still around.

joy sorry your doctors appointment wasn't as expected. I hate it when I work myself up for something that doesn't happen.

critter so glad you had a lovely time with your dad, you sound good. Loved the 'summer in Wales'.

And the IVF-ers? mellow when is the ERTD expected? any pre-IVF shagging for ironic diff? And nelly good work on the weekend away for first stabbing. Gin any news? Artemis hope you are managing the shabby feelings. I took a nose dive after 14 days of downregging and had 24 hours of massive brain fog, sea sick and sore head, day 16 (yesterday) added the simms and the fog has lifted today. Of course I have no idea if or how these feelings are connected to the drugs, but that's what went down. Of course coincided with developments in work contract decisions and planning for the next posting. Why does this shit always come at once? The cheapo simming injections are a bit more tricky than the downregging, it's the greatly increased volume, but pressing on. Scan not till Monday morning. yet to be a sex pest gin , Ken is warned though.. Wink

CritterPants · 01/11/2012 16:19

doll sorry to hear about the downregging brain fog and the work stress. I am so glad you're on the stims and feeling your mood upswing now. Grin on the sex pest update.

artemis are you still downregging? Hang in there!

mellow my lovely sister is older and still single too - it does put things in perspective rather. She says she feels like she turned away for a second and when she looked back, everyone had coupled up, got married and started having children. Sad

CritterPants · 01/11/2012 16:22

euro glad you're on the mend, do take it easy until you're fully yourself again. And sorry that the picture of you and the baby is making you broody - if only he could have been like my friend's baby when I looked after him, and screamed and yelled, and maybe thrown in a stinky poo for good measure, eh? Some spit-up milk wouldn't have gone amiss either. Grin Grin

mrsmellow · 01/11/2012 16:53

doll the down regging sounds like no fun at all - here's to successful stimming over the next few days. ERTD is due any day now Hmm then I'll be stimming myself.

critter it does put things in perspective.
But I still want to have a mini-rant about a suspected pregnancy in someone who stopped the pill literally a month ago!!! Better now, thanks! Grin

sarlat · 01/11/2012 17:28

Heart - so pleased that all was well at the scan. I know this is still a scary time for you and I hope the bleeding settles down. Wishing you lots and lots of luck. xxx

GinSoaked · 01/11/2012 18:14

Hello ladies. This is an on the train post, so will be a bit crap, soz.

Firstly heart I'm so thrilled everything seems to be ok. I have everything crossed that the bleeding buggers off and you can enjoy the pregnancy.

doll yay for joining the stims club! The volume sounds Intersting? Mine is a pen, so v. little volume. Oh and the sex pest feeling has gone now, replaced by fanjo pains and copious amounts of ewcm, niceeee.

critter awwww your paragraph about parental support brought a tiny tear to my eye . It really does make a difference. I don't know what I'd do without my mum.

:( at cute baby pics euro. My FB newsfeed is full of 'em, all in cute Halloween outfits.

Yay for being outta the tent mrsd, that's great news. Not long til your ivf now. That blog sounds freakin awful.

mellow no af you say? Hmmm... Intrigued face. And I am sooo impressed at your immunology knowledge.

rabbit, hurrah for being out of the hole and doing fun things.

princess nice to 'see' you and please do feel free to moan. Sounds bloody awful!

joy ouch at your stiches. Do you know when your leg op will be? At least you will be more recovered from the lap.

Grin at you being a lush too sar. I have just bought a huge cheesecake as wine replacement. That has protein in it right?

Waves to everyone else.

We had another scan today. Some of the follies looked humongous. She reckons we'll get a similar no. of eggs to last time but EC will probably be Tuesday now. It should be Monday but Dave can't get that day off work... Obviously I'm now worrying that it'll be bad for the eggs/me, but I guess it's better than st Hellier's we only do EC on a Thursday.

Dave has man flu, but they don't think this should affect his sperms. A bigger worry is that I'll catch it. I don't think they can sedate you for EC if you have a cold/cough. So yet another thing to worry about. I may have to crack open the Zita west relaxion cd to help with some of this anxiety!!

akuabadoll · 01/11/2012 18:35

gin I just told Ken bout no sedation for EC if I catch a cold (that he has) he said "where? In the States?" I tell him no, in the UK. He said it's not relevant as here I will just get a sick to bite on anyway. Grin Yes, the volume is a bit of a bugger, no pens, slowly through small needle. Try not to worry about the cold and the dates, eat that cheesecake. Funny because I have a massive cheesecake too (yes lots of protein, and you can tell Dave eggs don't actually have that much). I havent been completely wine and caffeine free actually, very good but neither are completely absent. I value sanity above all things Grin

MuddyWellyNelly · 01/11/2012 19:37

Me too doll in fact we keep buying wine to try for the wedding so then MrN and I need to drink the whole bottle BlushGrin.

Quick post as stuck in traffic. Hurrah for those out of the tent and sex pests and sick buckets and heartbeats Grin. I have a week to go before my first needle. Clinic do that. Then it's pens thankfully.

Has anyone heard of EEVA? Apparently it's kind of like time lapse photography for the embryo. But it's not cheap. Also any thoughts on assisted hatching? Apparently this can be beneficial for us ancient ladies with hard boiled eggsWink

buzzybee123 · 01/11/2012 20:10

nelly I was going to do Assisted hatching but a couple of places have said that this is no evidence it will help Hmm at Create they do the uterus scratching which is to help with implantation

mrsmellow · 02/11/2012 06:03

assisted hatching and uterus scratching Grin it does sound mad! I feel a poem brewing....

Ladies, mini-moment - why do I torture myself. POAS this morning (2 weeks since dr saw large 20mm follicle on scan, but said and we agreed highly likely not to be of use given the tube situation...) of course BFN. But still feel deflated?!! what is wrong with me!
On the upside, we're now going to the clinic to pick up the kit. Just need AF to get here - not normally so keen to see her Hmm

gin I think it would have to be quite the cold for them not to sedate you, but fingers crossed you don't get unwell anyway

doll injections sound fun..

so from banana cake to cheesecake - next week brownies? Smile

akuabadoll · 02/11/2012 06:32

mellow I'm not surprised at all that the BFN was hard, they always are whatever the situation, but....this is your work around now and a real one. It's not so hard and you seem in a great place. It's a funny feeling willing periods to arrive, right? As you can imagine even more so when downregging, so at least you don't have that. You are getting these pen things? If not, and you are going old school, give me a shout and I'll give you some tips. Artemis thinking of you and hoping you are holding on. In other news, I may be moving to Tehran.

akuabadoll · 02/11/2012 06:35

Oh, just saw my post from yesterday, that was 'stick to bite on' not 'sick to bite on'

Just finished my breakfast cheesecake.

mrsmellow · 02/11/2012 07:56

Tehran, my DH will be very jealous - he would love to go back to Iran (travelling for a few months rather than living) - have you been before? How do you feel about it? Looks like Ahmadinejad won't be in charge for too much longer, hopefully replaced by someone more moderate. (I actually read the economist the last few weeks instead of leaving it in the plastic on the coffee table Blush Our Christmas present from the in-laws last year was a subscription - I do actually enjoy reading it, but it arrives so frequently!)

I don't know if I'm getting a pen or not. Probably - they're a trendy lot at my clinic Wink !

akuabadoll · 02/11/2012 08:22

mellow I have the New Yorker and the Economist, the pressure! I'll have to take off some plastic myself and look for that article. It's not what I was expecting or hoping for, it's interesting though. I have a couple of Iranian friends, worked in Afganistan, but never been to Iran. Our destination of choice fell through a few months back so I've been getting my head around that. Tehran has a bunch of implications which really aren't great, specific to our family and to my professionally options (this move is with Ken's contract). Btw perhaps you can shed some light here..my parents are British living in the UK, they couldn't visit without first going to a country with an Iranian embassy to get a visa, is that accurate?

Yep, by the sounds of it you will get a pen. Oh you are so cutting edge

GinSoaked · 02/11/2012 08:48

Grin at biting down on a stick doll. I imagine where you are, they'll give you some super dooper drugs that will leave you high for days! Your breakfast sounds as good as mine - a veggie sausage and a glass of choc milkshake. It's still protein... Tehran sounds really exciting, although could also be a bit scary. Is ken actually James Bond?!

Btw, do you have any bruises from the jabs yet? I'm blaming the evil antagonist. We had a cetrotide fail last night, as we couldn't get rid of the air bubbles and ended up squirting lots of the drug out by mistake. Dave, avec man flu, is on his way to the clinic to pick up some more tonight. Does anyone know how big air bubbles have to be before they become killer bubbles?!

mellow Aw, I too poas occasionally, despite there being virtually no chance of it happening. It's still shite and difficult. Don't be scared by the pile of drugs you get. It seems to be mostly packaging...Oh and at Economist reading.

Waves to buzz and nellie.

I'm feeling very bloated today and swear I can feel the follies/ovaries bashing about when I move, like one if those 80s swingy ball office game things.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 02/11/2012 09:09

Morning 10+ers!

New Yorker and Economist, that would be too much pressure. I have difficulty enough reading an Economist every three months and reading a paper, even though I commute... I'd be quite apprehensive about living in Tehran, but the same goes for your current location, doll.

Very impressed with all the stabbing, I feel oddly left out now :)

We're off for two weeks on holidays next Friday, so hopefully I'll come back to an abandoned fred. Hopefully pout will come back to keep me company!

Waves at all of you!

akuabadoll · 02/11/2012 09:27

gin I was having the suppressing stuff in my upper arm, and yes I have a couple of bruises to show for it. Switched to belly to continue suppression and adding FSH, no bruises so far. Sorry, I'm not sure about the killer bubbles.

Yes, of course Ken is James Bond Wink

akuabadoll · 02/11/2012 09:29

Have a great time lemon I know what you mean about feeling left out. Why do you think I'm doing it? Wink

akuabadoll · 02/11/2012 09:32

Yes, me again. I'm feeling left out of bloated feeling gin it makes me feel like nothing it happening. Bloody hell, I do hope something is worth looking at on the Monday scan..

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 02/11/2012 09:40

And which of his Bond girls, are you doll? Can we see you in cinemas around the country?

Just to add to the previous post Hurrah for heart's heart-beat! CONGRATULATIONS

mrsmellow · 02/11/2012 10:09

I will ask DH about visitors to Iran - but he went a few years ago, so might not be relevant any more.
New Yorker would be more up my street - we also get the Week and occasionally Atlantic. And we listen to Radio 4 online...I'm better informed than when we lived in London!

doll fingers crossed for Monday - I don't think not feeling anything is indicative, don't worry!

lemon where are you going on your holidays?
