Hi, thought I'd start the new thread. This is a brilliant thread for anyone trying to conceive or who has got a bfp after mc, full of lovely ladies, fab advice and a lovely place to metal, so called because someone said metal instead of mental and the rest is history......

Jaffa that sounds really traumatic. I hope you can put it all behind you and enjoy your lovely new dd.

lurcherlover · 30/10/2012 20:51

What a birth story, Jaffa! Sorry you had to go through labour AND a c-section too! But as you say, it's all worth it now you have your lovely DD. Can you tell us her name or do you not want to in public?

Hope everyone else is having a nice evening...half term for me so we're taking ds to Blackpool tomorrow to see the illuminations/ He's two and OBSESSED with lights - in fact obsessed doesn't even come close. He points out every light in the room wherever we go, then tells us in a very outraged tone if any are broken and demands that "Daddy fix it!" - so Blackpool is going to be more than he can cope with, I expect! Looking forward to some family time though. Dh works evenings such a lot that it's rare we get a whole day together. And today I was very brave - I went shopping with my mum and bought a load of winter maternity clothes. Ds was an autumn baby so I was huge with him in the summer, so most of my mat clothes are summery and I've been shivering this week...but I now have a stash of warmer mat clothes (can recommend H&M very highly if anyone is feeling similarly brave!). It did feel a bit like tempting fate - so Fate, I laugh in your face, ha ha ha

backwardpossom · 30/10/2012 22:04

Enjoy Blackpool, lurcher! We're back this week (after 2 weeks off) and I am typically full of the cold. Rubbish. [hsad] I've got the morning off for my detailed scan tomorrow. Metalling away...

JaffaSnaffle · 31/10/2012 00:29

Backward, good luck tomorrow. It's a big milestone to get past.

Lurcher, well done on being brave enough to get the mat clothes. I didn't buy any new baby things until 30+ weeks.

I'm awake , in a noisy ward. Lots of crying babies. And Dorita, you are right. I am smiling! She smells lovely, and her hair is fluffy. And she is here at last! There are so many emotions, but the strongest are love and then relief. Her name is Clara.

MrsHerculePoirot · 31/10/2012 07:05

Beautiful name Jaffa - enjoy the snuggles.

backwardpossom · 31/10/2012 08:41

Jaffa Clara is such a gorgeous name! [hgrin]

Jollyb · 31/10/2012 09:05

Beautiful name Jaffa xx

Piemistress · 31/10/2012 10:35

Congratulations Jaffa! I had a similar birth with Cerys in that I was 10cm and awaiting a theatre for a CS (my son had got stuck and forceps couldn't get him out and as she was bigger didn't want to do that again). Clara is a beautiful name, happy snuggling xx

wilderumpus · 31/10/2012 10:39

aw jaffa, what a birth story you poor knackered thing. But yay for lovely clara! :)

good luck tomorrow backward chuck

well done on getting mat things lurcher!

good luck dtd jolly and dorita! get to it! and so sorry about AF buzzy. Wine

I was telling my friend about my friends and the mc and coming-to-stay-or-not saga and she pointed out that if they mc'ed about 2/3 weeks ago and wanted to try again straight away (they did) they were probably on shag week when they were due to come and stay. That would make sense, they can't be coming to stay if they might be ov'ing :) much more positive way to look at it!

BraveLilBear · 31/10/2012 12:25

Hello everyone!

Wondering if I can join you lovely ladies please?

I'm 32, got pg at first attempt on holiday in September, but had a very early miscarriage/chemical just after 5 weeks.

Totally knocked me for six, which was a real shock to me. Anyway... after initially not wanting to try again straightaway, we now are Wink

My feelings are completely different to how they were before the first pg - I'm already fretting about it all, but at the same time being desperately keen to get pg again. Craziness!

So, in the hopes that you'll allow another metaller in the door, I bring some Black Magic choccies that my OH bought in a fit of romance they were half price pass on congrats to Jaffa (have spent last three days reading back thread!) and all others with good news...

MrsPear · 31/10/2012 18:13

Hello Blush been AWOL for a month and been an ostrich trying to get ds 1 into pre-school and having lots of appointments. Congrats on all the beautiful babies and am glad to see the pregnancies continuing. I am sorry to see new ladies but this thread is bloody brillant and has got me through.

Birth announcement On Sunday aT 11 28 pm i gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. He was born at 31 weeks exactly. He is 3lb 3oz or 1.445kg. He was born crying but ended up being ventilated then put on CPAP. I had a brief cuddle yesterday but none today as he needs time to recover. Today he started on milk (0.5ml an hour) and on the light box. He base brain scan is OK. We are now on the waiting game. Thank you ladies Thanks all your help; i would not have got this far without you.

lotsofcheese · 31/10/2012 18:54

Congratulations MrsPear delighted to hear of your new arrival!

How are you feeling yourself? I had a 29-weeker & it was such a shock. The Bliss website was a great help to me at the time. Please feel free to PM me if you'd like a wee bit of support - always happy to help x

Jollyb · 31/10/2012 19:44

Many congrats mrs pear. Sending lots of strength your way for the next few weeks and hope you will soon be home with the new arrival. It sounds like he is a pretty decent weight.

lilbear welcome to the thread. Am sure you'll find the support invaluable. There are some wise women on here.

I was in Boots today and the lady next to me was buying pregnancy tests - was almost tempted to give her a nudge and a wink. (then remembered that she could be post MC etc and regained my self control!).

MrsHerculePoirot · 31/10/2012 20:25

MrsPear, congratulations on your baby boy. I hope you have many cuddles again very soon.

StateofConfusion · 31/10/2012 20:35

Here you all are, you vanished from my threads for some reason!

HUGE congratulations to jaffa clara is a beautiful name! Xx

32+5 scan tomorrow, fingers crossed the consultant gives me a date for this wrigglers eviction. Enjoying being pregnant atm.

Hope everyones well, now going to read back and catch up properly x

StateofConfusion · 31/10/2012 20:41

Ooh and a HUGE congratulations to mrspear xx

lurcherlover · 31/10/2012 21:30

Congrats to mrspear - welcome to the world baby pear!

jaffa, Clara is a lovely name - what a beautiful choice. Enjoy that lovely newborn smell - I spent hours sniffing DS' head in the early days! Grin

backward, hope your scan went well.

backwardpossom · 31/10/2012 21:44

Massive congratulations, MrsPear, hope you can get proper cuddles soon Thanks

Scan today was brilliant. Baby measuring well for dates, 21+5, he/she was sucking a thumb at one point and was being a bit awkward like the big brother was. So took a bit of jiggling to get all the measurements required, but as far as a scan can tell, baby is perfectly healthy and all is well [hsmile]

JaffaSnaffle · 31/10/2012 21:58

mrspear, huge congratulations to you and your family. Our babies were born 8 hrs apart. It was a special night! I hope you can bring your lovely boy home soon.

wilderumpus · 01/11/2012 11:24

wow mrspear HUGE congratulations! I hope you are doing ok in yourself and get more cuddles soon :) Over 3lbs does sound like a good weight though I know nothing of these things. Thanks

fab news on your scan backward!

hope you get your CS date state am so glad to hear you re enjoying your pg :) and good luck on your scan today :)

am knackered today. Hoping is a good sign of a growth spurt. 12 week scan on thurs, am completely bricking it - is so momentous! I hope if everything is ok I start to relax and enjoy my pregnancy a bit more... tbh I don't think that will happen until i feel them moving... so far am just not able to connect at all to the baby - the 'pregnancy' as something abstract that makes me weepy tired and hungry, yes, but a baby... not yet.

welcome brave am so sorry to hear your story. but yay for catching so quickly and hope you can again soon Thanks

BraveLilBear · 01/11/2012 12:07

Thanks for the welcome wilde I love that I seem to have joined in something of a purple patch of good news Grin

Isn't it funny when being tired is suddenly a great sign?!

Is your scan today or next Thurs? It's a scary time, but - to quote my hyper-rational Dr Spock type OH, at least you'll have more answers...

pebspop · 01/11/2012 13:18

welcome to the thread brave

congrats mrspear hope you get to take you baby home soon.

glad you are enjoying being pg state can't wait until i am a bit confident!

i am feeling much better after my bit of illness on tuesday. still feeling positive at the moment since my last scan on friday. my midwife is coming to see me next week so i am going to let her listen in. eeekk!!

going to a wedding on saturday and one of the few people who knows i am pg will be there. she is also pg and is very self centered. dreading it really as i don't want to talk about pg and may have to be very rude to her to get her to shut up. she only knows i am pg by default really as i had to pull out of a wedding abroad and she knew i would only do that if i was pg. grrrr.

lotsofcheese · 01/11/2012 14:41

Well, I've just booked in at the midwife. Feels very strange. If it had been up to me I wouldn't be doing it, but it was necessary so I could get the 12-week scan next week.

It just feels strange......

wilderumpus · 01/11/2012 15:06

cheese it is odd isn't it. I felt the same, only went because I had to. Actually they were so sweet I almost forgot myself and believed I was as pg as they did (!). And they were so sweet about my mcs unlike the dismissive drs and told me to call any time if I needed a cry Hmm hope yours was a positive experience, if strange :).

Oh, hehe, my MWs at mine told me to ring that day to book my 16 week appt too! 16 weeks! I was only 10 weeks! wtaf, don't think so. Will wait until after the 12 week scan and not a day before!

glad you feeling better pebs. I hope the wedding is ok and that person doesn't bug you too much. you might have to say explicitly that you don't want to talk about it. How pg are you now btw, exciting about your home visit!

brave there is often good news on this thread, that is why I like it so much. is very uplifting :) scan is a week today. ooh - a week now! is at 3pm :)

LittleSpade · 01/11/2012 15:22

cheese what day next week is your scan? Glad that me, you and wilde don't have too long to wait now.

I have mine on Monday morning and am getting very anxious cos my last scan was at 8+3 and all being well i should now be 12+2 (12+6 on Mon). I can cope with 2 weeks between scans but 4 weeks has been too long at this early stage without the reassurance of a bump or regular kicks.

I got so worked up and paranoid the other day that DH ordered me a doppler. It should be here today but no sign of it so far Sad
