Just Shagging - The lazy TTCers heaven, this is Shaggers Corner, Part 11

Kittenkatzen · 31/08/2012 11:32

(sorry I know that's awful but seriously, can you think of anything else that rhymes with "eleven"?!)

Ladies, leave your OPKs at the door, and settle in for part 11 of JSing!

Fred rules;

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share Wine and [tea] with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo;

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others.
Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.
Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce Envy in other posters).
Viroid = This is you, dear poster. The reason for this is a closely guarded secret, known only to....er....well, nobody as far as we can tell!
POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit).
Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.
Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession.

The link to Part 10 is here.

The link to the latest grads thread is here.

So don those shag capes, we have standards to maintain - Part 10 saw an amazing 9 BFPs, including one set of twins! So - what are you still doing here? GET SHAGGING!!

:o

redshoes - giggling at your cup crashing antics ! Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 23/10/2012 06:37

Pineapple!! Bad JS-er! Grin

redshoes, that'll learn you!

Fingers are crossed for you 33

I tried OPKS a few months ago at DH's request, mentioned it on here at the time, they didn't help me & I found it weird POAS that wasn't a pg test!
Looking at my 'chart' this month (I say chart, I mean kitchen calender) we DTD CD 5,7,9,12,15,17,18,22,24,28 & got my BFP CD34.

Congrats on the 10k bear!

Hope the chat helped frog.

Bearface · 23/10/2012 10:01

Oh well done, Frog - hope the chat helped. It's funny the places you have chats about these things isn't it?

I literally know nothing about OPKS, but thinking of giving it a go - I know - naughty bear, slap face.

Good luck 33!

Thanks everyone - just glad to have got round the 10k!

OhGood · 23/10/2012 10:30

red that's v funny! And frog Tescos is also funny, but so glad about the chat.

Anyone get or know anything about mittelschmerz as a guide to when you are ovulating? I tend to get a bout of it occasionally (and treat it as instant JS order) but I have no idea whether it's accurate indication of ov or not. And it's always much earlier in my cycle than you would have expected.

AndieMatrix · 23/10/2012 10:52

Too funny Red At least it was a single cubicle toilet and you didn't have someone walk into the cubicle next to you at the inopportune moment!

Frog Good news about the talk. It's amazing the times you can have these conversations. Hope it improves things. Wink

ohgood Since I've been TTC I've noticed mittelschmerz (which my phone just tried to correct to mittens chimera!!) a bit more time will tell if I'm scheduling the JSing accordingly though.lol

I'm tempted to give OPKs a go as my cycles are crazy and DP has told me to "for God's sake just pee on something" but I'm scared I'll turn into a crazy person.
My aunt asked me this morning what I'd do with myself when DD starts nursery and I was desperate to say I hope I'll have another baby to occupy me by then but our TTC is a secret (except to DP's mom as her psychic friend outed me at her house!)

MrsBri · 23/10/2012 11:01

I used OPKs to tell me when I could stop shagging, not start, as I couldn't carry on the way I was!! Though I got really bad mittleschmerz, so didn't need them in a way. But pain doesn't indicate successful OV, apparently (but not a surprise in this TTC nightmare).

You can kind of JS and use OPKs, I think.

swimmingnotdrowning · 23/10/2012 13:16

Hi. Just wanted to say that if anyone is looking for me, I'll be on the grads thread Grin

AndieMatrix · 23/10/2012 13:25

Grin swimming

Bearface · 23/10/2012 14:26

Hurrah swimming Grin!

frogchops · 23/10/2012 17:34

Hope everyone's had a good Tuesday??
Did say I'd let you know about my 'chat', that I'm still confused about, but hey ho. I didn't intend this to happen, not in tesco anyway, lol. Kinda started when I went down the pharmacy aisle to see how much frolic acid is, as I figure I should maybe invest in some, but had no idea how much etc..however, they had none, so I came out of the aisle, said I'd look in tesco instead. DP asked what I wanted it for (although I'm pretty sure he knows why, grrr) I told him and he giggled and shook his head. Angry
To this, I wasn't pleased, got upset that he was dismissing this as stupid and to be honest was ready to mow him down with the trolley.
Went through the whole 'we need to be on the same page here thing and that I'd like his support. Even asked out right if its not what he wants. His reply was, that if this happens, he's happy.... If it doesn't, he's not going to stress.
Anyway, after much more debate, I asked why he had such an issue about admitting we might be 'trying'. I asked what he'd do if I suggested we should be having sex on specific dates. And this is where he said 'u haven't suggested we should have sex in five years and certainly haven't ever said 'fancy a shag!' Lol...(I told you!!) .... Anyway, to my shock, he said it would be quite nice if I did say this, but gets the feeling it's all baby related now. (Told u he'd say this too!)
I'm still not 100% on where we stand here.... Confused

frogchops · 23/10/2012 17:35

Folic, lol....not frolic!! Although a good frolic would also be nice!

Kittenkatzen · 23/10/2012 18:14

Oooh swimming congrats!!! Grin

red your story made me laugh! I admit to having started using opks this month, I've had a couple of strangely short cycles and wanted to check things out. That said they've all been negative so far even though I've had copious ewcm today so I'm still none the wiser!

Oh frog how frustrating for you - at least you've broached the subject now though. My DH was similar to yours to begin with, all "I just want to stop preventing, not start trying" but that has worn off as time has gone on with no bfp and he's now much more interested. Could you maybe "practise" initiating once or twice during your obviously unfertile times (ie just before/after ertd) to get him used to it a bit with no pressure?

OP posts:
Rockchick1984 · 23/10/2012 18:18

Frog at least you have had the conversation now! My DH doesn't like to think that we are "trying" for a baby even though he wants another as much as I do. I told him shortly after we started trying:

theres about one week each month where you are likely to get me pregnant. If we have sex any other time, it's all just practice and because I'm horny, do you want me to tell you when that one week is?

He said he didn't want to know, and so we have sex throughout the month a lot and he knows if it's regularly during the month I'm not doing it just for a baby. Takes the pressure off him as well. Would something like that work for you and him?

frogchops · 23/10/2012 18:28

Yeh, I think this might be the way forward rock....I don't think he would be arsed about when this week is, so ill just go with the flow, cross my fingers that I can set this up to happen at the right times, and hope for the best. I think the no pressure thing is key here. I can't say we have sex a lot though, so this might have to build up gradually!
Have been speaking to midwife today ( I work in a children's centre so have general access to midwives, hv's etc all the time which is good, and she's agreed to see me monthly for 'pre conception' check ups)
Am still wondering when to expect this months ovulation though as I'm currently about to end a withdrawal bleed (what would have been my 'pill period' as I call it. )

Congrats to all the bfp's, I've been wrapped up in my own little world, I'm rubbish. Congrats!!! Grin

OhGood · 23/10/2012 19:37

swimming congrats! Fantastic!

notsoold · 23/10/2012 20:26

Swimming....happy for you and hope to see you soon....
Frogs...this sort of talk never seems to be black or white does it?
My dh never wanted to know when I was fertile but this time he said that if he knew he would make sure never to miss it. Well...did not work as my dh still missed days being so tired and me as well....we have weekend sex and I love it ( mainly because he is a laugh- in a good way!!!)but that is not the way to go.
Ps doctor told my mum 75 and my dad78 to use pre seed because it it better for older folk. Gosh I am cringing....going to vomit any minute.
I bet that is how my dc feel about us!!!

frogchops · 23/10/2012 20:34

Haha, that just made me cringe a bit too, and I don't know ur parents!! Lol
I'm just gonna go for it, helped along by a bit of Dutch corkage from various ppl on here who are showing me the way forward!! Only trouble is now, I have no idea when the best days are?? Finish withdrawal bleed tomorrow? Anyone any ideas?

CeilidhHayley · 23/10/2012 21:00

Hi everyone, just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself.

Dh & I already have two dcs who are 6 & 2. I'm now on my second month of trying to conceive no. 3. Last time I was all about ov sticks but found it quite stressful. Have decided that dc3 will be conceived in a less structured & obsessive manner so this must be the thread for me!

notsoold · 23/10/2012 21:34

Frog...someone else will come and help you with the dates...I really just wanted to say..."you go girl!!!"

Ceilidh welcome to one of the most lovely threads ever...and well done you for trying to be relaxed about the whole thing...

I will never ever look at pre seed box without cringing!!!

frogchops · 23/10/2012 21:41

Thanks, just realised I typed Dutch corkage. Corkage?? Lol, damn predictive text, lol.

Redshoes56 · 24/10/2012 00:03

I didn't think DH would want to know about fertile dates and the nitty gritty of TTC, but he has surprised me. As long as I don't talk about pant snot, he is interested in all the finer points! Every day he asks if there's a smiley on the OPK, and pats my belly as if by some Harry Potter magic a baby is going to sprout inside. I think his enthusiasm does stem from making sure there's plenty of action all month long -- then our sweet men don't feel totally used. Smile

Redshoes56 · 24/10/2012 00:10

Kitten chatted with the doc today about my short cycles, and she didn't seem too concerned (was in for the annual poke). She wants us to JS (well, she didn't use those terms, though I would have loved it she did) for another six months before over analyzing or going to a specialist, and that is fair. We've sort of been half-assing TTC until recently anyway. She seems convinced I'll see her sooner rather than later, and I hope she's right! We collectively agreed that I'd avoid Dr Google, too.

Are your cycles moving in the right direction at least? ERTD came right back after going off the pill, but then my cycle shortened to just 21 days! Luckily it has crept back up -- to 23, 25 and finally a nice 28 this last go-round.

Redshoes56 · 24/10/2012 00:12

Oh, and welcome Ceilidh!

Redshoes56 · 24/10/2012 04:10

And congrats swimming!

BoyMeetsWorld · 24/10/2012 06:35

Haha frog - I'm officially renaming it Frolic Acid. Much more fitting :) any clarity on convo with hubby? That does sound a bit unclear. I'm sort of lucky in that DH has been the one driving the whole babies idea so even though I never initiate, don't really need to!!!

ERTD finally p'd off today Grin tragically still away with work until tomorrow Sad then will be JSing with a vengeance Grin
