Fred rules;

1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
4. Thou shalt share and [tea] with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo;

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others.
Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.
Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce in other posters).
Viroid = This is you, dear poster. The reason for this is a closely guarded secret, known only to....er....well, nobody as far as we can tell!
POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit).
Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.
Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession.

Hello ladies! Massive crazy day at work here, including a video shoot, which meant I had to tidy my desk AND put makeup on. Ready for . Going light on it, though, as still no ERTD...spotting lightly for three days, but trying not to over-analyze it as it's not that unusual for me to spot a bit.

I definitely had a huge libido surge after going off the pill. DH was damn thrilled.

Hello Shaggers - am a bit of a newbie. May I join you? Very funny posts everyone - they have really cheered me up. No new ideas to add - just going for it lots. But thanks, Wing for your ideas - really good advice - hadn't thought about it that way before.

Uuuurgh weird sharpish pains 'down below' tonight either I've strained something will all the UpduffAttempts or I may be in line for ERTD which annoys me purely for BEING ERTD rather than being a BFN...not expecting any results this month, way too soon.

Fortunately DH is out tonight anyway.

My DM came over this eve. She kept giving me very knowing looks. After she went I realised we'd left the 'Mummy & Daddy To Be' pills (Folic acid etc) on the counter, right near where she was making a cuppa. Great.

boy - sorry to hear abt the sharp pains. Hope they aren't ERTD! And kind of funny reading abt u leaving the vitamins out on the table for mum to see! I was sneaking around Boota today buying some of the conception vitamins myself. Had one eye on the lookout for colleagues . Anyone would think I was a thief or something!!

Still observing myself for any signs that may point to being upduffed. Started a fit of Dr Googling this afternoon which left me depressed and deflated . Trying to not think about this 2 week wait which is only a week left for me but the waiting is tough nonetheless. Anyway I figure if it ain't my month then we will work on next cycle, right?

Uuurgh don't even get me started on DrGoogle. So far today he has helpfully informed me that: no discharge is a sign of preggers-cy; floods of discharge is a sign; it's impossible to have any signs at all until a goodly week after DTD; any said discharge should be thick & like clotted cream (ewww); thick lumpy discharge should be checked out; upduffed discharge is runny and white and...I think my favourite...pregnancy discharge dries like 'a pebbled beach' on a glass slide whilst normal ovulation discharge dries on glass slide 'like a fern'. Because we all have handy glass slides lying about awaiting our fanjo mucus & ferns / pebble beaches aren't at all subjective.

Dr Google & I are through. For now.

Boy & pineapple, with you on the symptom spotting. Have ordered another 10 tests on eBay so I'll use up the 2 I've got this week, Dr Google & I don't see eye to eye on most things.
Dries like a pebbled beach? Who comes up with that stuff?!

My conception story; DH & I discussed people wot ave music on during sex. Both agreed it's something we'd like to try together (had done it with other people but never together)...day after inpromtu afternoon sex, soundtrack; my best Barry White & James Brown impressions...with the windows wide open.

Everything still smells odd, and I'm nauseous but I've started feeling pessamistic about this month...on the basis that it's me ttc!

horse - we were listening to music the other day, but had to stop when Michael Buble came on - although he is acceptable in some circumstances, it was just too cheesy. We then moved on to some mad dance track that I use for running. The joys of shuffle.

Well, my story's a bit all over the place. I came off the pill in August last year and we were TTC then, but had to have time off in the middle because I didn't know what I was doing with work, changing jobs, promotion and all that, but then we decided that this was more important, my job became too stressful to maintain and I'm now unemployed and my main job seems to be TTC!

I don't know how you all find it but for me it's all very difficult with work. I was so tired when working that we didn't have any time to even try, plus the fact that I was so stressed. I've read that high levels of stress hormone can affect your chances too. I also would never have been able to sustain my job while trying to look after a baby. But now I'm in the position where I need a job, but I need to wait for the right one and if I do get pregnant then I can't reall take a job anyway. An impossible position all round really. But I'm glad we're trying and I'm glad I'm not in my ultra-stressful job anymore.

So, if you managed to follow all that, we have only really been trying properly since this summer when I left work, so that's a couple of months.

Also, I'm not sure what I'm doing really with all this POAS stuff. I took a test yesterday, which was negative, but think I might have done it too early. My cycle seems to vary in length, but ERTD is regular as clockwork in that it arrives every month, but I'm not always sure exactly when. I'm on Day 19 of current cycle. Most cycles are between 28 and 31 days. Was it way too early to test? I know it says to wait until the first day of a missed period on the box, but lots of people seem to test before from what I've read.

Oh yes - and we are trying for our first.

Yep bear CD19 was more than likely way to early to test - on the plus side you don't need to be downheartened about th -ve result! :o

As a very general rule, 10 dpo is the earliest you can reasonably expect a reliable result, so assuming you ov mid-cycle, that's somewhere around CD24ish. It's tricky though as lots of people don't ov mid-cycle, and some people produce hcg slower/faster than others. Which is why it's usually best to wait until a missed af to be safe.

There were some really useful links floating around a few weeks back, I'll see if I can find them for you....

BTW I can't find translations of some of the acronyms people use but get the general gist. Just to stop me from feeling stoopid, can anyone help? What's dpo? af? CD? Sorry to be a PITA (pain in the a*se)!

Ah don't feel clueless - it's a bit like entering a parallel universe on these boards, a whole new language to learn and frequent discussions about your sex life and the contents of your pants with complete strangers!

DPO = days past ovulation
AF = aunt flo/your period....generally known as ERTD on this particular thread just for added confusion!
CD = cycle day....day 1 is the first day of your period

There's an official list of acronyms somewhere I think.....no idea where though!

I'm in a right strop here. 5 days after ERPC, still spotting and therefore not shagging! Not only am I keen to start TTC again, I just, well, really want a shag! Apologies in advance for this but stupid bollocksing ballsucking buggering mc

boy wtf with the fanjo slides?! To be honest I still can't tell the difference between pant snot (CM), leftovers, and, ahem, my own excitement. I gave up trying to examine it I didn't have any glass slides and just got on with JSing.

This cycle we properly JS'd too...still going almost every other day too, despite there being no point at this point in my cycle!

I gave up examining pant snot too - I could never tell (or remember from one day to the next) what it looked like and I didn't want to write it down although I could have invented a code I suppose, but then I wouldn't have remembered the code! Also, it seemed to be different every cycle. I decided to get on with JSing instead. Much more fun!

I am on day four of weird spotting -- but no ERTD. I had a weak moment last night and took one of those early response tests. Negative, which is no surprise as it's early, but I felt guilty about drinking unless I saw that negative. If no ERTD by the weekend.... well, we'll see!

TTC is one of those times in life where you either laugh and make a joke out if everything or cry and feel you're slowly going insane. Much like when the baby actually arrives and you forget what sleep is.lol

To cheer myself up this week I've applied to be on Don't Tell The Bride. That'd give everyone a laugh if we got in there.lol

DP has suggested when ERTD subsides that I defect to using OPK but I think it'll turn me into even more of an obsessive freak. I have also given up on Dr Google. Boots have completely run out of glass slides for pant snot analysis.lol
