Hi Girls,

I thought I'd start a new thread the old one was getting a bit long.

I am feeling a lot more relaxed this month. We have been BD'ing but more for the fun of it than for babymaking. DH (bless him) has bought me a separate present for each the 12 days of Xmas - one a day. He has bought me some lovely things - which are very useful in "getting us in the mood"...

I am such a lucky girl!

Here's hoping Santa is kind to us all...

Well done Dejags - fab news!

Have just had some good news myself - no, not me, but news of 2 other pgs since christmas. Both couples have been ttc for 3 years, one is my cousin who is 26 and other is friend who is 37. BOTH had their 1st appt for IVF in Feb/March and both have got pg naturally since the appt was made!!! How fab is that? There's hope for us all yet...

BeckiF · 05/01/2004 22:30

Congrats dejags! It's stories like that that give inspiration! I'm still hoping to get pg the natural route and have ordered an ovulation testing kit that checks your saliva! Has anyone heard of these or used one? Any comments? In the interim I've brought myself an eliptical strider that I am using to help with weight loss, so that I can do the IVF! Jeepers it's hard though!

jacksmumto1 · 06/01/2004 08:46

Dejags - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so pleased for you (and sept 13 is my birthday so it has to be lucky!!! ) )

I was right - this is not the month for us... AF is on it's way But nevermind! I shall start planning for the next ov date We also had vouchers at christmas for a 'top' hotel so guess who is going to plan the dates perfectly for bd'ing with no ds around!

Anyone else any news???

Moomin · 06/01/2004 09:22

Waiting for AF on Saturday. Definitely feel hormonal but it's the kind of hormonal I've felt for the past few months so I'm pretty sure Af will arrive dead on time. I was going to buy ov sticks last month but didn't get round to it with all the "fun" of christmas, but will defo buy some for next month and if still no joy, go to the doc's. Good luck everyone else x

M2T · 06/01/2004 09:32

Jacksmumto1 - Has your AF actually started yet?? When is it due? I'm asking coz I was so convinced mine was on the way this time and had bloating, period pains, PMT EVERYTHING!!! But it didn't arrive..... So all is not lost for you and Moomin!

Good luck.

dejags · 06/01/2004 09:41

I agree with M2T.

I was totally convinced that I wasn't pg - I have had such bad PMT, sore boobs and was just not "feeling" pregnant.

I only decided to test because I gagged on something and was amazed when it came out positive . So there is hope yet.

Good luck

Congratulations Dejags!! What a feb way to start the year - hope it all goes really well for you.

Moomin - its good to hear some positive stories. Congrats to your friends!

Moomin · 06/01/2004 15:38

I was talking to a mate of mine who's got a ds of 8 and who has craved another baby since then but split up from her dh when ds was 1. Her current partner has finally agreed to try for a baby (he's got 3 already so wasn't too keen!) but has tried to put a time limit on them trying because of their age - they're both 38 this month.

She was saying to me that she reckons that because we're older now our AF symptoms have changed and they seem more like pg symptoms these days. This is all the more cruel as I never used to notice AF symptoms at all but since ttc I've noticed every little blip and twinge. Sod's law!

I do feel heartened by my friends' news, esp the older friend. She always had a very irregular cycle and then had a very traumatic ectopic pg 18 months ago. For the last 8 months she and her dh had been to see a chinese herbalist and she was having to drink foul-tasting tea god knows how often a day. They stopped this 2 months ago and started enquiries into IVF, and what do you know -Bingo!

fisil · 06/01/2004 19:19

jacksmumto1

eyelash, are you there? I can't e-mail you cos when you first registered you barred people from conacting you apparently. I received an e-mail saying that you can change it - I think you have to go to your personal settings.

Tomorrow sees the start of the AF wait. Last month it was day 23 (ie tomorrow) the month before it was day 33. So ten days of fun. Hope it comes soon so that I can drink at ds' birthday party on Saturday!

pollingfold · 06/01/2004 19:56

Happy New Year everyone

Have finally managed to find my computer under the stack of work after the Chrimbo break, so that I can get on with the more important matter of spending hours a day on mumsnet.

Spent the festive season with taking temps, peeing on sticks mid afternoon while trying to avoid my MIL, and with my bum on a pillow for half an hour after each session.

Obviously my commitment to TTC did not goes so far as to stop me drinking, but there have to be some priorities in life!!

Anyway, apparently I ovulated on Chrimbo day itself, and therefore can test in a couple of days. However could not resist trying one of those fancy new electronic Clearblue tests.

A have to admit that I had questions as to the safety of electricity and pee combined, but I'm still alive, although I did nearly fall down the toilet when it came up with Pregnant!!.

Still very very early days, and you, other than my DH, are the only people to know. Fingers crossed it makes it through this time, although I have better feeling about this one.

Fingers crossed for us all in 2004.

fisil · 06/01/2004 20:03

Yeah! congratulations!

BeckiF · 06/01/2004 20:04

Pollingfold ... not wishing to be the party poopoer but this entry on a thread grabbed my attention:-

By NorfolkTurkey on Saturday, 3 January, 2004 11:27:30 PM
The only reason I was put off is that I tried a digital kit, it came up pregnant twice. I was so excited, I rushed around to the GP's who did 2/3 of those stick tests and they were all neg. I got so upset and had a little cry on the spot! Came on next day as well. I tried another after my period and as soon as I put the stick in, the reader broke! Doh!!

I'm sure you are fine but it's worth bearing in mind! Do let us know if you get another positive from another test or your GP.

pollingfold · 06/01/2004 20:24

No offense taken BeckiF

Have to say I came home and used an old fashioned type as well, the sort that they use in the doctors, just to confirm.

Anyway anything could happen, after m/c in Nov am abit more weary of the next 36 weeks

BeckiF · 06/01/2004 20:45

Then I am delighted for you! I hope I didn't upset you, especially after the m/c. All the best to you and yours and of course lots of love and hugs of happiness your way!

jacksmumto1 · 06/01/2004 22:15

OH MY GOOODDDDD!!!!!! I'm PREGNANT!!!!

Came home from work and realised that my period was 3 days late... did a test when ds went to bed and nearly fell through the floor!!!!!!!!! I am in such a state of shock!!

It was a clearblue digital test so I have just done a 'normal' clearblue and it is a strong vertical and a faint horizontal but most certainly a positive!!!!

So Dejags and Pollingfold - I shall be joining you! I am due sept 9th!!!

jacksmumto1 · 06/01/2004 22:17

actually.. 'it' is due just before my 30th - I was planning a right rave up! Better change my plans now eh?!!

fisil · 06/01/2004 22:19

Congratulations too!

Am I the only one left now?

BeckiF · 06/01/2004 22:29

No Fisil, my cupboard is still bare! Awaiting start of IVF but hope that we do it naturally still (ha-ha-ha! Thanks for nothing Mother Nature!)

Fingers crossed for both of us and those in our position!

Moomin · 06/01/2004 22:35

Congrats pollingfold and jacksmumto1!!!

I'm still here as well, BeckiF and fisil... I'm almost definite that my af symptoms will actually be af and not a pg, so I expect I'll still be here next week!
