For myself, Moo, Count, Irish and anyone else who has had difficulty conceiving or has recently experienced miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

We don't yet really believe that we're pregnant and we certainly don't want to high tail it to the pregnancy board quite yet so here's our halfway house until the 12 week scan!

Details...

I was very nervous, so was DP. As soon as she put the gel on my tummy I started crying and then when she started the scan I didn't want to look at the screen on the wall.

She was very good though because literally within 5 seconds she said 'And there's a baby with a heartbeat' and then we both cried a bit and it got worse when she put the heartbeat through the speakers. The baby was lying on its back so we had a sort of birds eye view, but obviously this was the wrong position so I had to jiggle my bloated belly around (soooo attractive) and lie on my side and it moved, phew. She saw both hemispheres of the brain, the cord, both arms, hands, feet and legs. She said the baby had a full tummy which meant it had been swallowing amniotic fluid and a full bladder which I suppose means the kidneys are working! Astonishing for something only 7cm long. The baby's legs were crossed at the ankles and the nuchal translucency was 1.4mm which she seemed happy with. The sonographer was lovely.

So now it is just a case of waiting for the blood test to be processed and waiting to hear what the risk of Down's is. Then we can decide when to go public. She also put me as 13+1 weeks, not 12+2 like I know I am thanks to charting but hey, it brings me a week closer to the 20 week scan!

80% of the worry has been lifted from my shoulders. I know things can still go wrong but it's only something like a 5% chance.

I can't believe it!

Yay, Disco I'm so pleased for you. Grin My baby was not in a good position and I had to jiggle around too - not attractive but didn't care when I got to see baby. Glad you're feeling more positive x

Countmyblessings · 05/09/2012 19:01

Whoop for a good scan and cyber hug for the crying I totally understand and also didn't look at screen straight away!!!!
Ohhhhhhhh your dates have moved so your very close to me know whoop!!!!! I'm still holding my breath until my next scan decided not to have the downs screening I can't deal with more stress and I'm fully supported if our baby has it!!!!

Just dropping by to say huge congrats to disco and count on your brilliant scan results. So pleased all is going well.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 06/09/2012 18:30

Hi ladies, I am so so so sorry that I have been AWOL for so long.

Disco and Count really, really pleased for you both that the scans went well and you got to see your little bob bas wriggling away etc!! Just absolutely fantastic news. Much be such a huge relief to get that done and out of the way and know that everything is progressing as it should be!!!

Disco love that wedding dress, stunning!!!!

Rusulka sorry to hear you are having bum ailments and that Peanut has still not decided to make an appearance. I have been stalking you on the ante-natal thread and notice that you are to be induced on Saturday if she has not made an appearance before then. Fingers crossed that all goes to plan for you and that the bum ailment does not make you suffer more than necessary!! Muchos exciting though. You will be meeting Peanut very soon :)

Lil how are things going with you? Hope first days back at work were not too stressful and tiring for you? When are you due?

Welcome to Cheese you will find lots of support here :)

Well, again, I apologise for my absence. Morning sickness has completely taken over my life. I have not been able to function and am completely fed up with it now. Have not been to work for 3 weeks; there is only so much Sky TV i can cope with. Doc signed me off for 2 of those weeks because they would not give me drugs as they were concerned about any potential risks and given that it took 13 months to get this point, I can see where they are coming from.

Had my booking in appointment on Monday. Was really good and felt a little more real. Have my scan booked for 26th September. Have bought a device for listening to baby's heartbeat. DH and I think we may have heard something. Despite the m/s I am starting to get a little anxious about the scan. Am really worried that after everything something might not be right.

Anyway, DH is stuck in traffic so I best go and make a start on dinner, otherwise there will be hell to pay.

Sorry for anyone I missed off. Not intentional!! Grin

Discolite · 06/09/2012 22:32

Rus, sorry your bum continues to be so sore. It's exactly what you don't need, the extra stress of that in the run up to labour and having a new baby. Hope the antibiotics start doing their job soon.

Thanks Lil! It still doesn't seem real Smile.

Count, thanks for the hand holding! Me and DP have agreed we wouldn't terminate for Downs but I would like advance notice so we could get used to it and educate ourselves about it. Not sure I could go for an amnio tho, what with the risk of mc.

Thank you Munchin! Hope everything is going well with you.

Moo! Hurrah! For nothing going badly wrong I mean. But the sickness sounds awful. I'm experiencing a resurgence in evening sickness, just in time for my relaxing time now I'm back at work. Bah. Anyway, I do hope it eases off very soon for you. As for worrying about the scan I can totally understand that. But you have to remember that most people have absolutely nothing go wrong. Because people who have had problems tend to congregate on places like Mumsnet i think you can get a distorted view of how common mc etc actually are, you don't tend to remember the good news stories! Anyway, hope you feel up to coming back every now and then (or more frequently of course!).

Well, I've had my boss guess I'm pregnant. He knew about the mc, so I suppose he put two and two together when i had another hospital appointment! His ex wife who also works at my school has also guessed apparently but I'm sure she'll be discreet. To be honest, my gut sticks out pretty noticeably. I thought I could hide it with layers but it's too hot to do that! Also people haven't seen me for six weeks so I suppose the change is more obvious!

Anyway, Berries if you are reading I hope you are ok and having a nice time with your DS. I also hope you'll have some good luck on the TTC front soon.

Hi Moo- whoop I'm just glad that you are ok! Had us worried( shaking my finger at you) you better not do that again!!! Young lady!!
After everything that has happened we are all taking baby steps at this time!
Roll on scans and baby movements!

Lilliana · 07/09/2012 07:07

Good to see you Moo I'll admit I was getting rather worried about you. Sorry about the sickness which is horrible but it doesn't mean anything is wrong, baby will still be getting what they need. Hope your scan goes well and sickness stops soon so you can start enjoying being pregnant :)

Disco have you told anyone yet (apart from DH) or are you still keeping it quiet?

Have found school more of a struggle than I thought as so tired. Hoping it is more to do with getting back into routine rather then due to my low bp otherwise the next 7 weeks are not going to be fun!

festiemum · 07/09/2012 11:52

Hello chaps!

I kept meaning to pop in, but, as those of you who've been lurking about in grads will know, I've been in and out of hospital the last couple of weeks! They've now got me on so many pills I feel like a zombie, but hopefully that will keep my bP under control till this baby arrives! 37 weeks tomorrow, so she can come whenever she damn well likes as far as I'm concerned!!

So lovely to hear about the scans and ms (which I know is debilitating and evil, but also reassuring in its own way!) Lots of love to you all, I have to do more sleeping now! Zzzzzzzzzz xxxxxxxxx

Discolite · 10/09/2012 18:01

How are things with you Count? When is your measuring scan? How are you doing now Moo? Any sign the sickness is going?! How many weeks are you now btw?

Lil, we told my mum, dad and sister straight away. I told my best friend at 8 weeks (she has just told me she is also pregnant, a month behind me! This is great esp as she'd been TTC for more than 6 months). We told DPs best friends (a married couple) on Saturday. No one else knows yet. DPs parents are frail and elderly and were infertile (he is adopted) so we want to be reasonably sure all is well before telling them. His mother never got over not having biological children so it has to be handled with care. How was Monday? Equally tiring for you? Hopefully once you are back in the routine it'll sort itself out. The start of term is always manic anyway, I've been staying behind school for 2.5 hrs every night but hopefully that'll ease off.

Festie! I just read the latest Update on the bp saga, what a pain in the arse! They really need to do some joined up thinking on this one. It's not fair on your other children apart from anything else as well as wasting massive amounts of your time. I do like the sound of the midwife though, hope she does some fighting on your behalf!

All ok with me. DPs friends were delighted with our news and even better have a loft full of stuff to pass on. They were very supportive after the mc and it's lovely they are so thrilled.

Work is manic but I'm quite enjoying it actually. I still haven't had a call from the hospital and the sonographer said if we were higher risk for Downs we would have heard within 2 to 3 days. I make it 3 working days since the scan so hopefully all is well.

Only annoying thing is that South African woman I told you all about before - she struck again! Argh! This is the fourth time I feel she's invaded my privacy (apparently TTC is an acceptable topic of conversation for someone you barely know). We never did find out who told her we were TTC...anyway. We were all at the beach on Sunday. I didn't know she'd be there. I had my response planned for if she asked again about TTC BUT I hadn't planned for a congratulations...it totally blindsided me so I didn't say erm, what do you mean or anything, I just said thank you...she mustve guessed as I am showing really, especially in a bikini. Anyway, mega annoying and invasive, especially as not all our family know yet. She's not malicious, my DP says she's just a bit, ahem, thick and doesn't realise how potentially upsetting her comments can be. She'd just better keep her bloody mouth shut or I will say something rude...

Rus, how's the cyst and have you had Peanut yet? Hope it's all going swimmingly.

Hi berries hope you are good, sorry about af, don't blame you wanting to take a back seat as it can become life consuming and get you down. I'm still in same boat also.

Countmyblessings · 21/09/2012 05:41

Baby movement getting stronger which helps!
Disco - what due date have u got now?

festiemum · 21/09/2012 10:31

Hello chaps,

Just a quick catch up for those who haven't ventured to the grads thread.

Baby Festie born sat 15th at 2.10am. Drs were really dragging their heels about inducing me because of previous c-section,but me and dh stuck to our guns and waters were finally broken 10pm fri night. Contractions started just after 11 and she shot out 3 hours later. Very straight-forward, if a little shockingly fast!

She is a tiddler - 6lbs, 6oz and very lovely! We've called her Esme River.

Hope you are all well. berries - I think you're very sensible giving all the active ttc-ing a break. It can just become so all-consuming. Hope you enjoy lots of fun, loving SWOI! xxxx

Rusulka · 22/09/2012 11:30

Quick update from me also-

Baby Rusulka born Mon 10th at 11:25:25, weighing 8lb 5oz. We've called her Phoebe Florence Echo.

Bit of a painful and messy labour all in- they had me on monitors so long she turned so she was back to back, and I had to have a 3rd degree episiotomy and ventouse.

But I did it all with gas and air

Ladies, if you only do one thing in late pregnancy, for god's sake, lean forwards to get them facing the right way!

Berries it will happen, and I think giving up the tools so to speak is a good plan. Spend some time with your partner, have some you time, forget about all this lark and have some fun- you'll be pg before you know it!

Countmyblessings · 02/10/2012 01:37

Just passing through so busy at work that time goes so quickly and I'm totally mashed by evening!!!!!
Yeh in October and roll on up coming scan as I want to know if its blue or pink( brown earthy tones-or purple deep tones in my case)
Still not eating as much but I'm happy I'm eating something gone off loads of stuff! But drinking more water to avoid pesky headaches/ migraines!
Hoping and praying I've dodged the spd bullet but as I'm getting pains I think not!!!!!
Hope all is well and new mums enjoying loads of hugs and flatter tums!

Countmyblessings · 25/11/2012 22:22

How's everyone doing its really quiet!!!!!
MooWoo- how's it all going sweetie???
