For myself, Moo, Count, Irish and anyone else who has had difficulty conceiving or has recently experienced miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

We don't yet really believe that we're pregnant and we certainly don't want to high tail it to the pregnancy board quite yet so here's our halfway house until the 12 week scan!

How did the scan go Count? I do hope it went ok x

Hi Disco - scan changed to Friday, had booking in and mw was lovely friendly and she totally took on board how worried I am with my history!
But on a good note she said I should go for a home birth which I never considered but am def considering now!!! Feeling it would be a nice way to include the other dc!
Feeling so much better so hope I'm over the ms now! Got more energy and not peeing as much!!!! Hopefully if all goes well will announce about baby over the weekend!!!
Hope everyone else is good and enjoying this wonderful stage!

Lilliana · 28/08/2012 15:30

Just popping in to catch up with you all. So sorry to hear some people have mc and hope you are ok.

Moo No advice regarding sickness as I'm sure you have tried it all. I would exaggerate to docs though so they don't fob you off.

Disco my ms was like you describe. I found it helped if I ate something every 3 hours, didn't feel like it eating but ms was better afterwards.

Count your mw sounds lovely and hope the sickness is finished for you.

Berries if you are lurking just wanted to say Hi and hope you are ok x

Hope that you all feel better soon and fingers are tightly crossed for your upcoming scans.

I can't believe Rus and Festie are pretty much ready to pop - I'm going to be left on my own soon so need you to come and join us! Grin

Discolite · 28/08/2012 16:29

Ooh Count, I'm glad you have a nice midwife! It must make all the difference. A home birth would be amazing, you have a son already don't you, and some younger brothers who you are parenting if I have that right? It'd be lovely for them to see the baby so quickly. I'd like a home birth for my second if I'm lucky enough to get to that point, but am not confident enough to not be in the hospital for my first.

My ms is still around, just an ever present acidy nausea. It doesn't stop me eating but it does stop me feeling like doing physical activity. My energy went up a bit last week but the nausea makes me feel like doing bugger all! After a weird day food wise yesterday I was so hungry at 12.40am that I got out of bed to make myself a cheese salad sandwich. I have never done that before but I was ravenous! My stomach seems to have shrunk tho, i can't eat as much in one go as i normally can. Oh and tmi but prunes really work Grin

I have my booking in tomorrow and then my scan a week tomorrow. My tummy keeps lurching at the thought but am feeling positive, just hope I'm right!

Anyway, hope your scan goes well Count!

How's Miss Moo? Still feeling crappy?

Hi Lil! Fingers crossed we'll all make the transfer soon. I've been lurking like mad on your thread so am up to date with Festie's blood pressure issues and Rusulka's cyst (and concerted pineapple eating). Please pass on my best wishes to them both, still too superstitious to go over too early! I hope things continue to be boringly normal with you and Zeus. I am totally not ready for school, all my focus is on the 12 week scan which happens on the second of two inset days next week. Then two days of pupils, eek! At least the weekend will come quickly I suppose. Are you going to try to work to your edd or are you going earlier than that?

OP posts:
Lilliana · 29/08/2012 09:08

Thanks Disco Rus as always is putting us to shame with her dedication!

Going to try to work till half term so will be 38 weeks then - it's a long half term but hope it will be worth it for the mat leave pay afterwards!

Hope your booking in goes well today and your mw is nice. I have to go today too for a big needle to be stuck in my ass and bloods :(

Rusulka · 30/08/2012 11:33

Ladies I would just like to point out that the pineapple eating did nothing for me but tenderise my mouth to buggery. Felt like it had been thoroughly sanded (40 grade!) then liberally salt and vinegared. Waaah!
Feels ok now though, but peeved to find that I would have needed to eat 7 pineapples to have any benefit. Dush. What a waste of time!

Thanks for the well wishes Disco, and how wonderful to know everyone is up to date with my bum. Blush
Hope your booking in went ok and that all is well for your scan next week.

Best wishes and fingers crossed for your scan tomorrow Count!
(LOL. I typed your name and totally forgot the 'o'... thought I'd better put it in though!)

Discolite · 30/08/2012 20:06

Hi Lil and Rus!

My booking in was fine, quicker than the first time as a lot of my answers were saved. Just got the scan next week now, the tummy is in proper lurchy mode now. Still, me and the dog are staying with my Mum for a few days so that should prove distracting. I got some more lovely beads from the best bead shop in the entire world so I can do a bit more jewellery making when I get home.

I keep looking at clothes tho and wondering whether or not to bother. I think I'll just wait til after the scan, annoying as the shops are a million times better here! I have found a great site with links to making your own maternity clothes. I'm particularly keen on the idea of making bump bands out of vest tops! Fingers crossed I'll need some.

Lil, I think I'm going to try to work for as long as possible too. Time with baby is more important to me and what if it was overdue?! Even less time!

Rus, i hope your mouth is back to normal now, ouch! Did it feel like when you've eaten too many boiled sweets? And I hope the cyst goes away v soon before peanut appears!

Moo, I need an update! Another week has gone by. Hope you are ok.

Count, all the best for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you! Let us know how it goes.

OP posts:
Rusulka · 31/08/2012 09:56

Didn't know you make jewellery, Disco, me too! You'll have to put some pics on your profile so I can see your stuff, and I'll do the same.
I tend to favour glass over anything else, it's relatively cheap and looks so gorgeous...
Great that your booking in went ok, hope you enjoy the time with your mum, and I'm sure the scan will be fine and you can breathe a big sigh of relief afterwards.
I didn't bother buying any maternity clothes (despite my mum trying to make me) but I have got some bump bands (which she got me) and I totally haven't worn! I'm well-upholstered so my whole wardrobe is fairly stretchy and wraparound though.
Re: the mouth thing, it was worse! Boiled sweets only tend to hurt my tongue in one place, but it was my tongue, inside my lips, cheeks, underneath... everywhere. It just stung. Feeling much better now, thanks.

Yes, Moo, where are you? Hopefully in hospital being rehydrated. FX you're ok. x x

Countmyblessings · 31/08/2012 16:31

Hi ladies - ohhhhh pineapple munching really cause some damage!
I love the idea of making stuff but I don't have any patients!!!
Scan went well I couldn't look until my DH told me look I can see it moving!!! Breath!!!!!! It was wonderful everything I rembered and more!
Moving and I could see so clearly arms and face, chin fingers!!!
Have to go back in 2 weeks as he moved so much she couldn't get good measurements!!! But got lovely scan pictures and loads of extras!!!
Very happy and slightly more relaxed will prove when I feel movement myself!!!!! And relax!!!!!

Discolite · 31/08/2012 16:49

Count, hope your scan went well x x x

Hi Rus, most of what I make I give as presents but I'll dig some pieces out for you! It is a good job I don't live here anymore as the crazy prices in the bead shop would make me spend all my money. For example you can get a 30 cm string of freshwater pearls (in about five colours too) for £1.95! Anyway, how's your cyst today?

I had an exciting day, I tried on my first two wedding dresses! The first wasn't flattering but the second was good. Shame it is double my budget but at least I know what style I want! Truth be told it had too many rhinestones on it, I felt like a mirror ball. The dress shop lady was a bit surprised I didn't like them, maybe most brides like it all blinged up? I also wasnt mad on the belt thing. Anyway, this is the dress, but I'm not as thin or tall as that model! www.thebridalboutiqueltd.co.uk/bridalgallery/Maggie%20Sottero/slides/LORIE%20inc%20detachable%20flower%20belt%20&%20cap%20sleeves%20S5300CS_front.html

X post, hurrah hurrah hurrah! Such a wriggly baby you have to go back? Brilliant!! You say he? Could they tell?!

OP posts:
Lilliana · 31/08/2012 20:15

Count so pleased for you and your wriggly baby (and you get to see him/her again when they rescan Grin)

Dress looks lovely Disco but I agree that I'm not sure on the belt bit. I found everything I thought I would hate actually looked good on me so my only advice would be try on loads of different things and then find the parts that suit you and find a dress with it all put together!

Rus and Disco I'd love to see some of the pieces you have both made - I had a go and would love to do more but I'm not really creative enough to make anything original and decent!

Moo hope you are ok x

Countmyblessings · 01/09/2012 13:38

Yes very happy for another chance so soon to see baby but just scared that something is wrong! But 1 day at a time is all I can do! So trying to relax unless I nag DH for private scan before that!!!
Rus - love the idea of your looking like a disco ball!!!! No I didnt like any of the fussy dresses and only had a few stones on the bodice part that was enough! I guess so much to consider right now!!! But you will know your dress as soon as you see it!!!!
Moo - hows everything with you????

Countmyblessings · 01/09/2012 13:40

Disco - no the she was saying he which she told us she always says he instead of baby!
Confusing but oh well!

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 01/09/2012 13:41

Can I join please? Am nearly six weeks pregnant, following a mc in June. Don't want to join the April thread just in case, last pregnant I started the feb thread so don't want to jinx it this time. Booking in appointment on 20th, so will perhaps get a bit excited then. Otherwise it's one day at a time .....Smile

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 01/09/2012 13:44

No symptoms as of yet, apart from tiredness but that's probably due to 2.2 year old ds who never ever stands or sits still for longer than a second

Rusulka · 01/09/2012 16:05

Disco that dress looks lovely. On the budget side of things, don't forget about eBay- there's tailors in China that will take every last far end of a fart measurement and make you something that fits you perfectly for a fraction of the cost- I bet you could even send a pic of the one you want, lol!

I got married in this:
www.vivienofholloway.com/en/category/50s%20Halterneck%20Polkadot%20Dress/1950s-halterneck-polka-dot-dress/1227/

Christ they've gone up since I got it 2 years ago! I wore it with a red cinch belt and foofy red underskirt, with a big red rose corsage/brooch. We're not very traditional!

Count that is excellent news on your scan. It must have been such a relief to see such a little jiggler! I'm afraid that those cute little jiggles will turn into VERY pointy elbows and knees, so brace yourself for what you're in for! I feel like Peanut is having a constant kung fu fight with my insides...

Welcome Cheese!
Hope your booking in appt goes swimmingly and you too have an awesome first scan.

Lil I feel like we're cheating on our thread with another thread! Grin

Lilliana · 02/09/2012 10:49

Rus I love those style dresses - hoping I get a waist back so I can wear them again!

It does feel wrong to be talking here too but hope the two will merge at some point (although you'll be onto postnatal by then) I hope our other thread will forgive us. Grin

Count hope you're not worrying too much, it's not too long before you'll be scanned again.

Hi Cheese hope you're doing ok and not worrying too much.

Moo is everything ok? x

Discolite · 04/09/2012 17:54

Hi Cheese, welcome aboard!

Rusulka, I am too chicken to order a dress from China. I have seen some bad reviews and want to have a good quality fabric so I wouldn't want mail order from within the UK either. It's a shame as the prices are so good but like I said, I'm too scared it would all go tits up.

Love your dress! I have a similar one, black with red spots but in a wrap style. I made a black petticoat to wear underneath it and used to wear it on stage when I was in my band. Happy days!

How are you Count? Ok I hope.

Moo, it's been ages since you posted last, are you ok? I'm a bit worried now Sad

It's the scan tomorrow morning. ARGH. I'm trying not to think about it to be honest. I have what looks like the world's most boring WI meeting tonight so that will take my mind off it. Yay. I've just go to trust that it will all go ok tomorrow, and I also know that if it doesn't go ok, then I've got through it before and survived. It'd be the first baby's due date next month...I'm praying I don't have to go through it again.

Anyway, bye bye!

Lilliana · 04/09/2012 20:21

Disco fx for tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you.

Moo I'm getting a bit worried too, hope you're ok x

Countmyblessings · 04/09/2012 20:42

Ohhhhh Disco - got your hands for tomorrow I know that worry way to well and trust me still am until next scan!!! Hate waiting!!!!
All this talk about wedding dresses is making me want to get married all over again minus the stress and the huge costs!!!
Welcome Cheese - lovely to have a new face ( cyber face) to join our merry gang! Enjoy and share that's what we are all here for, oh and the soft step into another pregnancy that we are all praying will give us all lovely, beautiful babies!!!!
Moo- sending out SOS this is not like you, please let us know all is well please!!!!!!! Thread not the same without your input!

Rusulka · 04/09/2012 22:21

I'm worried about you too Moo. Going to assume for now you don't have internet access where you are and you're doing your crust on a drip on a ward somewhere. Hope you're ok.

Disco we're all holding your hand for tomorrow! Be sure to let us know how it goes!

Ps. my bum is no better, lol... or rather, ouchees, wah.

Discolite · 05/09/2012 00:05

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.
Rusulka, I had a sebaceous cyst on my back and they cut it out. Couldn't they do the same for you? Or lance it? I think it can't possibly be any sorer than it now.

OP posts:
Discolite · 05/09/2012 10:45

Scan was fine! Heartbeat there etc. Will update later in more detail. So relieved, about to eat a big cake!

OP posts:
Rusulka · 05/09/2012 10:50

Yay Disco!!!! More details please. Grin

I want cake now...

I don't think they'd cut it out until Peanut is born.

In the meantime, paracetamol and not sitting down it is!
