Morning ladies
I've been lurking here for a while and the last comment made me decide to post!
I had a mc 2 weeks ago- it was my first ever pregnancy at 38.
We weren't exactly ttc till then as DH was not particularly fussed with kids due to health reasons but now it's happened it made me realise how much I want to be a mum!
So I'm waiting for my body to go back to normal to start ttc good and proper!
Had bfn which is supposed to be good but no sign of ov yet so no idea when af us due.
Very heart broken about it all but at the same time hopeful and positive.
Do u all know when u plan to poas?
Good luck all xx

I know what you mean, Newbie...I've been wondering that. Is it August where the lady trying for her fifth joined?

Hi to Lolcbcb too. Sorry about your MC.

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 09:42

Haha newbie, that was t very successful was it! Funny though!

Welcome lol, hoping you catch the egg quickly. I've been doing the hips in the air thing where possible. I like to think it helps!

Smiley gone this morning, does that mean that's it??

Lolcbcb · 05/08/2012 09:42

YES Nicola!!! I read that and thought surely it can't be as difficult to struggle for your 5th as it is for your first!!!
Maybe we should have our separate August bfp for 1st baby thread!!

NicolaHazel · 05/08/2012 09:46

You wouldn't have thought so, lol, but as I've not got one, let alone four, I haven't a clue! Suppose it depends how your brain is wired, maybe?

I've got a sore tummy region still today. God knows what's going on...wonder if I got a mild bug? Really not sure the pain is in quite the right place to be anything exciting!

Newbie2 · 05/08/2012 09:55

Dulcet keep going for a bit in case you have delayed ovulation

OP posts:
Newbie2 · 05/08/2012 09:56

Dulcet did you only get 1 day of the smiley? That's like me if that's the case. I swear the packet said you're meant to get 2 days but I keep reading on here that ladies only get 1 day of the smiley face...perhaps I'm crossing my wires with CBFM

OP posts:
NicolaHazel · 05/08/2012 10:01

I'd definitely keep going, Dulcet.

Newbie, Dulcet appears to have a CBFM, though everyone else just has sticks that we can tell.

Lolcbcb · 05/08/2012 10:05

By the way do u all use cb opk? It's so expensive so I've not bought it yet and was wondering if it's worth the money? What's the difference between the cb ovulation thing and the fertility monitor which is even more expensive?
I bought some cheap ov sticks from amazon but they seem such a faff! Not used them yet, waiting for af to start charting etc.

NicolaHazel · 05/08/2012 10:17

I used cheapie ones last month lol, which somebody gave me. They were a pain, so didn't bother buying any this month.

I start the Clear Blue trial next month, so have use of their smilie ones for free. I'd have not bothered otherwise, I think.

I think the monitor tests for 2 hormones and the sticks just one.

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 11:09

Yeah, the smiley was only yesterday but I got my EWCM Friday afternoon so I think maybe it started then which was too late to be picked up on the Friday stick but was picked up Saturday. Now it's gone. Will try keep going but he's already moaning he's tired!

A lot of us are on a clinical trial with CB lol so not paying for the sticks. Check their website to see if they are still taking people. First time I've used them though do can't say if they are any good yet. Seem straightforward though.

NicolaHazel · 05/08/2012 11:15

Awww...poor DP! Tell him to get going if he wants a baby :-)

We had some nice, just for fun, 2WW, DTD this morning. I like not having a purpose to it.

Lolcbcb · 05/08/2012 12:35

Thank u girls. I'll try to contact them and see if I can get on trial. The fertility monitor is over 60quid! No way I'm paying that lol.
In the meantime will patiently wait for afBlush then just chart for a month or try the cheap stuff.
Question: how do u all cope with pressure on DH for DTD? Reason I'm asking is that my DH is quite stubborn (yet lovely) and does not appreciate being told NOW. So I generally try to keep dates to myself and instigate things when its the right time. Sadly we don't DTD often enough as his sex drive is not that high due to his health so it's pretty easy for me to get in the mood at the right time.
Do u have any other suggestions??? Last month we DTD twice only and I fell pg so I know it can happen but if I could have any more ideas on how not to make it obvious it would be great!
In case u are wondering, he does want a baby but not as much as me. He is happy to try for me but not ttc in the strict sense of the word. Blush

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 12:35

Yeah, it is easier when it's not so planned. I am hoping he will buck his ideas up by this afternoon. Saying every hour counts hasn't helped!

So, more technicalities, with smiley yesterday am I going to consider myself to be 1dpo now?

DulcetMoans · 05/08/2012 12:40

It is hard to keep the pressure off of them. Last month we DTD loads and started early but that meant by the time we got to the vital time he was pretty spent and, although he tried, he couldn't keep... Giving me the vital ingredient? Haha! Blush

I think if you can keep the dates to yourself and instigate without it being questioned too much you should be ok. I only tell him anything if he turns me down now and it has felt a lot more relaxed this month than before. Well, until this weekend!

NicolaHazel · 05/08/2012 12:49

I don't tell my H2B anything about dates or timing. I just instigated DTD every few days or so to keep, ahem, the levels topped up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it leads to epic fail (see The Shining getting in the way during the vital time the other week).

But, it is still such early days, I really don't want to get too obsessive / regimented about it. If this process takes a while, I'll have to get him more involved in timings etc, but I'm not willing to just yet.

Lol, my H2B is also stubborn and won't do things if he feels pressured / told he has to / should be! Can make life difficult, generally. Gently, gently is the best approach...and let him think everything is his idea.

And with regard to making a baby, I'm TTC, and he is seeing how it goes. Easier when you're removed from it the way they are!

NicolaHazel · 05/08/2012 13:00

Oh, and since the first month when I was all stressed about TTC, I've got a lot more philosophical about it all.

Even if you DTD at exactly the right time / all the time, and there's sperm there when the egg is released, the odds of getting pregnant are actually quite low.

Now I know this, and have realised it's as much about luck as it is planning, I'm just taking it easy and think it'll happen when it happens.

Doesn't make me any less mental during my 2WW, however, ha ha!

I don't have the time, energy or inclination for every day (or even every other day) DTD! Maybe I'm not as into the process as I could be!
