BFP in 2012- a thread for winkling-advice and COD-avoidance!

wishfulthinking1 · 15/07/2012 14:37

So... here we are!
In a positive move to avoid monthly heartache this is the thread where we'll ttc in 2012.

"will there be winkling?" of course!
"will there be tinkling?" too right! you filthy buggers
"will there be time in the COD?" probably- but it'll only be short lived!
"will there be BFPs?" YES YES YES!

A pledge! do you think I'm taking this too seriously?
I, wishfulthinking, promise to ttc with all my might. I accept that ttc is a long, drawn out process and I shant allow myself to become too obsessed with the process in 2012. (if I remain in-duffed at new year, however, I reserve the right to be right royally pissed off with life and everyone in general!)

Who's with me?

Wishfulthinkng1- ttc numero 1- expecting a sticky BFP on July 31st (and at 28 day intervals thereafter!) Days till wedding - 6!

Xxx

Hi everyone

I know nicola the days just seem to drag!

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on using power plates when ttc? I know you aren't supposed to use them when pg but I'm not sure whether to use mine now at the moment or not...

NicolaHazel · 09/08/2012 18:02

What are power plates, Woody?

(You may have guessed that I can't help you!)

woody17 · 09/08/2012 18:12

They vibrate and you stand on them and they do stuff to your muscles. Supposedly you get the effect of over an hour in the gym in a 10 minute session on the power plate! They are really good for toning up, tackling cellulite etc. I just don't know whether or not to use it now I'm ttc. Particularly during 2ww? But then I think maybe I'm being a bit OTT!

Kittenkatzen · 09/08/2012 18:35

woody I'm not sure and a quick google doesn't seem to throw up any definite answers, maybe just stick to using your PP in the first two weeks just to be safe?

woody17 · 09/08/2012 18:37

Yes I think that's what I'm going to do. I emailed the company and they said that there is no definitive answer.

Think I will probably feel better for not chancing it

redstrawberry · 09/08/2012 18:43

thanks for the responses - i won't feel so bad abt -ve now. Will wait till CD18 to see if anything shows up. Still carrying on with the DTD EOD plan. Not relying on the sticks.

Also had a moment of madness and booked trains to London to catch the last few days of Olympic mania

redstrawberry · 09/08/2012 18:46

been trying to get tickets all day - which is why i haven't posted much today. almost ready to give up and pull my hair out!

StormBird · 09/08/2012 21:55

Sorry to leave everyone hanging like that and then......not come back with any news whatsoever!!!! HUMPH!!!.

Anyway, I have got tonsilitis and the GP has prescribed meds that will not affect a pregnancy If I AM! However, she said that they did not have any of them dip'em in ya wee tests and that I should go and buy another and do it again at home.

So I went to the chemist and picked up my prescription together with a First Response but I haven't used it yet!!!

Today has been super manic preparing for our jolly holiday tomorrow I literally haven't had chance and I feel like SHITE - I can only drink water and eat small amounts of yoghurt at any one time as anything else hurts like HELL to swallow!! I'm hoping the medicine kicks in soon and I start to feel normal again.

Anyway, the plan is to wait until the morning and test using the first wee of the day, simply because IF (in the slightest, tiniest of margins) I am preggo (don't worry my hopes aren't up) then I can;t be very far gone at all and if the test is to pick anything up then it needs to be done in the morning.

So you're all going to have to wait I'm afraid!!!

I haven't caught up with the thread yet but I hope you have all had a nice day. And I promise not to be so self obsessed next time.

Must dash, need to jump in the shower and then continue to pack as DP is being a lazy sod and is NOT HELPING

XXX

wishfulthinking1 · 09/08/2012 22:08

Good luck for tomorrow storm bird. Sorry to hear about tonsillitis- its horrid. I always find gargling brandy helps- but given the circumstances you might want to avoid alcohol. Could you gargle with brandy and the spit it out? I sound like an alcy- but I used to suffer with recurring tonsillitis and it did really help and it made me sleep better too xxx

storm I was really expecting some news from you by now. You have the patience of a saint. At least if you wait till tomorrow you know you will get a definate yes or no. Fx for you

StormBird · 10/08/2012 00:05

Wishful - I've been gargling with TCP. It isn't so bad and seems to be taking the edge off but thanks for the tip (it's much cheaper than brandy too LOL)

Whenshewasbad - i know i know, it's not patience believe me I literally haven't stopped, I'm so tired now I must go to bed.

I'll post with news in the morning

xx

StormBird · 10/08/2012 00:47

We're NOT pregnant cos AF just showed up!!

Don't get me wrong a BFP would,ve been lovely but boy am I glad the old witch has turned up. At least now I know where I am in my cycle (even if we are putting TTC on hold at the mo). Plus it means i can let my hair down a bit for my 30th on saturday.

Thanks for your support guys and I'm sorry to disappoint. I have to say it's weird feeling ok with the outcome though, but I do.

I'll try and pop on while I'm away to keep up to date with you all.

Good luck girls

Back soon xxxx

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 10/08/2012 06:44

Ah sorry af showed up storm at least you have a nice shiney new cycle to work with.

Get well soon. X

NicolaHazel · 10/08/2012 07:30

That's a bugger, Storm.

Have a lovely birthday and get well soon.

redstrawberry · 10/08/2012 08:43

Sorry about AF arriving storm Hope you have a lovely 30th X

woody17 · 10/08/2012 09:27

Sorry about af arriving. Hope you have a fab 30th and are feeling better soon storm

redstrawberry supposedly the atmosphere in London is amazing. We are going on Saturday as well.

winkle2 · 10/08/2012 09:29

Sorry she got you storm but have a lovely birthday! Hope you feel better soon :)

I went out with work last night and didn't sleep till half 2! Roll on home time!

I alternated drinks with soft ones which meant others had 10+ stinks and I'd only had 6-7 ;) still too much for TTC maybe (?) but I did enjoy myself!

Got a teeny bit excited this morning because I opened a J20 which tasted funny. I thought its probably off so opened an apple juice. that tasted funny too! I thought is this the weird taste symptom that women talk about?! Then I realised I'd just brushed my teeth [crash back down to earth emoticon]

winkle2 · 10/08/2012 09:30

10+ DRINKS NOT STINKS!

woody17 · 10/08/2012 09:36

Sounds like a good night winkle hope home time comes round quickly for you!

I reckon being relaxed and enjoying it is the perfect combination for ttc!

I wear contact lenses and some nights when I've been v. drunk, I sleep in them. There's been a few times when I've woken up, probably still a bit drunk, have opened my eyes and have thought a miracle has taken place and I now have perfect sight...then I remember my lenses are still in!

Kittenkatzen · 10/08/2012 09:47

winkle sounds like a brilliant night, you need fat coke and toast to get you through the day!

storm sorry the witch got you but at least you'll be able to celebrate in style this weekend, have a brilliant 30th!

You ladies heading to London this weekend - there has been (and is) a lovely buzz about the place for the last couple of weeks, and it really hasn't been as mentally busy as everyone feared. You should have a great time! :)

RIBS · 10/08/2012 10:48

Sorry it wasnt to be storm But at least you can have a bloody good piss up on your birthday - I went to Dublin for my 30th err years ago recently it was fabulous. Happy happy birthday to you!!

Winkle well done on the piss up and a on work day too!! [proud emoticon] Lol at the "stinking". I thought you were having some new, down south, fancy cocktails!! Grin My hangover cure 7up and a bacon sandwich!

woody17 · 10/08/2012 11:19

Had a tiny bit of brown spotting today - could this be implantation bleeding? Not sure if it fits with my dates...but hoping it does!

RIBS I went to Dublin on a hen weekend a few years ago - it was fab!

winkle2 · 10/08/2012 11:55

Ooh woody, sounds promising!

Bit of a sad anniversary for me today. Officially been trying for 1 year :(

KickTheGuru · 10/08/2012 11:56

HAHA winkle you make me laugh. Especially about the taste thing Grin

Yeh London is nice. And you contribute to the tourists who stop on the sidewalk and hold everyone up! YAY! (kidding)

I am doing frantic maths in my head to when I can pee on a stick and it's still miles away. MILES!

And I am stressing myself out about this bloody job! I haven't even got an offer for it and I'm all worried about the travel time.

KickTheGuru · 10/08/2012 11:58

winkle

I have no idea when our anniversary of trying is. I know it's been unofficially for over a year and official since we got married.

UNofficial = the time when we tried but didn't tell anyone and didn't concentrate on ovulation and stuff.

Official = we could openly fall pregnant without people somehow whispering that we were doing shotgun
