joberg · 20/08/2012 19:51

Hi, am back after a little bit of banging head off wall. 5 weeks since d&c and AF has arrived. Also had a friend announce that they are expecting the EXACT day that I was, a close friend has had a baby (and I can't bring myself to visit) and my sister has had an unplanned pregnancy scare.

It's like the TTC version of Eastenders....

joberg · 20/08/2012 19:53

Have a bit of back reading to do but I was sorry to see that some pregnancies were not working out as planned, (keep going ladies!!!) but happy to see a proposal and a few happier pregnancies!!! Bravo! X

Polka2 · 20/08/2012 22:20

Hi joberg hope you're not feeling the hormonal roller coaster pain of the WTF too bad Wink

StateofConfusion · 20/08/2012 23:33

Big squeeze for joberg I had several pregnancy announcements when I had my mmc, its so hard x

lurcherlover · 21/08/2012 11:25

I'm metalling ladies...had my booking in appt yesterday and the very efficient mw got me in for a scan today. I was guessing I was 6 weeks based on hcg levels. She couldn't see much abdominally so I had an encounter with dildocam. There is a sac but she couldn't definitely see a baby. She said the sac is measuring 5+2, so either my dates are out or the pregnancy has stopped developing. So they've taken more blood to see how my hcg levels are, and the next step will either be a repeat hcg in 48 hours or another scan next week, or both. So am officially in limbo-land. I get the hcg result this afternoon and we'll take it from there. Just praying my dates are out, but my first hcg reading was 90 when (if the pregnancy is progressing normally) I was 3 weeks. Apparently normal levels for three weeks are 5-50, which is why I assumed I was four weeks - which if I was, means the pregnancy isn't progressing. So here's hoping I could still have been three weeks with a level of 90.

pebspop · 21/08/2012 12:24

lurcher when was your last period? did you get pg in the wtf cycle?

i once ov'd very late and got pg and my dates were way out. maybe your dates could be wrong.

i always find the internal scan is better before 8 weeks. i don't let them try to do a normal scan anymore when its early. they always insist as it's the guidelines but it's too stressfull for me to have a failed attempt with the normal scan.

hope the hcg results come out ok later.

lurcherlover · 21/08/2012 12:29

Going by lmp I would be 8 weeks, but I knew I wasn't that far along - have been really irregular since mc. I haven't been using opks though so don't know when I ov'd. Phoning for my hcg level later, so we'll see.

backwardpossom · 21/08/2012 12:34

Fingers crossed lurcher x

MiggleMoo · 21/08/2012 12:34

Lurcher - thinking of you, hope the HCG comes back ok.

I've bombarded you all with my confusion over the last few weeks but have had 2 positive FRER and now a positive CB Digital. So can I ask for some vibes and let this little one stick!!!

backwardpossom · 21/08/2012 12:37

And fingers crossed for you too, Miggle! Grin

I'm just waiting for my scan now... Time is going so slowly, but I'm back to work tomorrow, so that should speed things up a bit.

OP posts:
wilderumpus · 21/08/2012 13:25

congrats miggle!

lurcher try not to worry; HCG levels fluctuate in the speed they go up so you might have been 3 weeks but had lots of HCG - I have had a digi test say I am further along than I knew i was before. The great thing is that you don't know your dates, so just go with it. Oh, and at this stage as well, even if you were 6 weeks the bubs can measure earlier, they grow in fits and starts which is why early scans are such a bugger.

good luck, fingers crossed.

oh jo. That is shite. My stupid ass friend who got pg by accident and is due when I would have been has just put on fb how she wants to take her bump back because she is worried about broken nights. fuck OFF. I have even deleted her as a friend she winds me up so much but still see her posts in response to other friends'. ARG I hate her.

I have realised today I have not ov'ed yet! I thought it would have on sun! CD 25! pos opk on Sat... but lots of fertile signs today so think today/tom is popping day... and didn't dtd last night :( now convinced have missed it for this month. reet glum!

lurcherlover · 21/08/2012 13:34

Thanks for your hand holding ladies, it really helps.

Well my hcg has gone up from 393 last week to 6200 this week, so that's good. But they also did my progesterone levels, and apparently they're 33.7 which is low. I don't know much about progesterone so don't know what this means really. I wonder if low prog is why I lost my last pregnancy? They didn't mention supplement s, just said I've got to have a repeat scan in a week to see what's happening. Does anyone know if it would be worth supplementing my progesterone at this stage?

Thanks for all your support everyone, it really helps x

pebspop · 21/08/2012 14:45

i am not too sure about the progesterone.

my consultant said they can help early pregnancy but as my mc's have been later i didn't need them.

it does say in the lesley regan book that progesterone can make a failing pregnancy go on longer but it will still fail.

i think a lot more research has been done on progesterone since that book was written though.

do you have a consultant you could ring to ask? or your gp?

farfallarocks · 21/08/2012 17:11

lurcher 30 is really low, I don;t mean to panic you but its what you would expect to confirm ovulation.
I would urgently get some cyclogest if I were you.
The jury is out on progesterone I agree, I took it in this pregnancy because I had spotting and had had early miscarriages (pre 6 weeks) as well as some fairly low progesterone readings so I think it can help if low progesterone is the problem but probably has no effect if its not.

Good luck

lurcherlover · 21/08/2012 17:49

Really farfalla? I asked Dr Google and I'm so confused - I've read normal levels in the first trimester are 9-49 and that over 20 is good, is that wrong? The nurse said they don't routinely prescribe anything for low prog - should I see my gp? I'm so confused Sad

farfallarocks · 21/08/2012 18:07

Well I am not medically trained so I would definitely see the GP if I were you.
My understanding was that they like to see a level of 30 to confirm ovulation, I had mine tested at 5 weeks and it was 145 I think. Of course we may be talking different units as well. I thought 9 was what it dropped to just before you got your period
I hope I have not caused you more worry. I would definitely try and speak to the consultant or GP about it about though

farfallarocks · 21/08/2012 18:11

In the UK we use nmol/L whereas in the states they use ng/ml so that might be where you are getting the 9-49 range from?
www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/earlyfetaldevelopment.htm

From UK site
www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Miscarriage-(Spontaneous-Abortion).htm

Serum progesterone: â—¦This can be a helpful adjunct when ultrasound suggests a pregnancy of unknown location.
â—¦A level below 25 nmol/L suggests a non-viable pregnancy.
â—¦A level above 25 nmol/L is likely to indicate a viable pregnancy.
â—¦If the level is above 60 nmol/L, a normal pregnancy is highly likely.
â—¦A level below 20 nmol/L suggests that a pregnancy of unknown location is resorbing spontaneously and this may help to confirm whether expectant management is sufficient or whether uterine evacuation should be considered.
â—¦NB: serum progesterone levels are in themselves not diagnostic and need to be supported by other tests such as serial hCGs and ultrasound.

lurcherlover · 21/08/2012 21:20

Thanks farfalla. I've spoken to my sister who's a gynae, and she said in her clinic they consider anything over 20 as ok and under 20 as a failing pregnancy. She was a bit annoyed that they'd told me the level at all as she wouldn't tell her patients as she would just consider it normal. So I feel a bit better now. Just really hope my little speck has grown by next week.

farfallarocks · 22/08/2012 08:20

Great that you have a gynae sister, much better than Dr Google, good luck

pebspop · 22/08/2012 08:25

mettaling a bit today. my back is really sore on my left side. feels like muscle pain and I can't bend down without it really hurting. going to gp in an hour to see what they say. will probably stay off work today. I was hobbling around yesterday in my high heels trying to avoid all the offers of pain killers.

I don't think its anything bad but I an worried about the baby with all this pain

MumTumWanted · 22/08/2012 08:48

Good luck at the gp pebs

I'm metalling myself ... I'm 4+5 today I startd the cycligest and aspirin last Wednesday and was told to book in for early scan at 6 weeks so 31st aug but I'm terrified. Every twinge I'm worried I'm constantly knicker checking and worried if I haven't felt sick thirsty tired or prodded my boobs every 5 mins at this rate I will need to give up work as my colleagues will think they are working with a looney !

Hope every one else is ok x

farfallarocks · 22/08/2012 09:11

Oh mum I remember those days well, I boob prodded wiht abandon and went to the loo every 5 mins, was awaful. Don't freak out if the boobs are less sore for a day or 2, I had this and was convinced it was game over, actually symptoms really fluctuate.

pebspop · 22/08/2012 10:44

back from gp. they said I had a tiny but of blood in my urine so I might have a kidney infection. they just told me to rest and drink a lot of water.

mumtum I had my six week scan on Friday and was worried but everything was ok. got another one on Friday. just hoping this kidney /back pain doesn't case any problems

I dont really get pg symptoms so I don't have much to reassure me

wilderumpus · 22/08/2012 10:55

morning peeps.

pebs drink water and rest and no more high heels?! :)

mum dinnae fret (easier said than done) am sure all is a-ok!

lurcher how sad that they worried you like that! grrr on your behalf.

I think if I haven't ov'ed already I will today... finally! If I had a pos opk on Sat does that mean I probably did ov already? Who knows. I have twingeing going on, no idea what that is about... might be 3dpo for all I know and be sat here all preggo.

Did you guys watch the midwives prog on bbc2 last night? It was on tricksy pg metallers with problems, including people who were pg after recurrent mc. Although it didn't focus on their journey to get pg it was heartening to hear how long some had been trying and then finally succeeded. really gives me hope. And that metalling is totally normal - they even had special midwives to counsel the metallers through their pregnancy worries! That would be nice.

laters yo.
