Thought we could do with a new thread since the old one is full.

OP posts:
pebspop · 02/08/2012 11:39

I had a quick look in the lesley regan book this morning and it says there was some research done which shows the later the fertilised egg implants the more risk of mc. the best time for implantation is around 8 days post ov. i think it said at 11 days post ov there is 82% chance of mc.

don't know how you would know this though?

wilderumpus · 02/08/2012 11:56

i have only known retrospectively? Although with my mc pg I did have bad cramping for 6,7,8 dpo, then it vanished so I knew it was implantation cramping and that I would get a BFP on 10dpo, which I did. didn't like the cramping though and don't want it again!

I know in my pgs I implant around day 8 because with all three i got a bfp at 10 dpo (and DS on 14dpo with a very strong line). My friend however had a short LP of 7-10 days and her eggs wouldn't stick in time, so her eggs obviously would try to implant quite late as well as having a short LP. They made a baby though, after nine months of dogged trying got lucky with an early ov so had a decent LP and a sticky eggy! had the baby on Sunday :)

don't know why you are worried about that stat tho pebs?

pebspop · 02/08/2012 12:18

i am not worried about it wilde i was just following on from yesterdays convo about cp's.

i must have a short lp as i know i ov late (around cd 20) but i always have a 28/29 day cycle. doesn;t seem to affect implantation for me though.

i think for every 'text book' person there are millions of people who are not text book but still normal. i think anything goes in the pg and ttc world - they should throw that text book away!

wilderumpus · 02/08/2012 12:29

thanks pebs :) and yes, anything goes! technically my friend should have had a nightmare concieving with a short LP, random ov, low progesterone (she always got spotting days before AF) but they did get pg - in the average time! I take heart from this!

FaintingGoat · 02/08/2012 14:20

Hello all, have only just found this thread, didn't realise the last one had maxed out. I was on the last thread but have namechanged since then. To summarize, I mc in June at 9 weeks but found out at 12 week scan, medically managed but pretty awful.

I'm new to TTC so I've just been having a look at a fertility calculator to try and make some sense of it. Can I just ask someone if this looks right?

1st day of last period was 17th July (1st since MC).
Prior to MC my cycle was 31 days.
The calculator thing said I should ovulate 3rd August (tomorrow).

It says I should be fertile from 29th July, but highly fertile yesterday & today, with maximum fertility tomorrow. Am I understanding correctly, that the day you ovulate is your most fertile day?

We dtd on 31st and today I have slight crampy pains a bit like period pain. Does this mean anything? Am I being silly to even hope?

wilderumpus · 02/08/2012 14:35

hallo fainting. the 6 days leading up to your ov day are all the most fertile. ov day in particular is not necessarily the 'most' fertile but is definitely a very good day to dtd! slight crampy pains could be ovulation pains.

hth x

FaintingGoat · 02/08/2012 14:40

Thanks Wild. That does help a bit. I think when I was pg before, I wasn't 100% ready, although we were glad, we just got caught out the one time we didn't use protection. We already have DD who is 1yo.

Now I'm all over the place about the possibility of being pg again. Excited to think it might be possible, sceptical that I could be lucky enough to get pg again so quickly, and scared that if I am, it'll all go wrong again. I guess it's a waiting game for a couple of weeks eh?

wilderumpus · 02/08/2012 14:50

it's hard work this ttc business fainting. very hard work. But oooh... a baby! I'd do anything, wait any time to get me another one of those :)

farfallarocks · 02/08/2012 15:28

Hello, I have not been on here in ages but wanted to say congrats to pebs keeping all crossed for you.
Are you on the heparin yet?
I had a scan yesterday which confirmed good blood flow to the placenta and baby so I can stop the heparin, am terrified of doing so but I trust the consultant so will stop when DH gets back from his business trip!
Jaffa I grew 4 cm in a week apparently but I think that was because different midwives were doing it, its very subjective I believe!

pebspop · 02/08/2012 16:00

Thanks far i was wondering how you were getting on. glad to hear your good news.

i don't need heparin until a heartbeat has been seen so i am off to liverpool next week to see whats happening. i think it might be too early to see a heartbeat though. i should be 5 weeks next week according to my LMP but i ov late and i am always a week behind at the first scan so i could be only 4 weeks next week. actually i am totally confusing myself now!! maybe i will be 5 weeks next week and i should be six weeks. Confused

i don't really want to calulate the weeks days etc so i will remain in blissful ignorance!

farfallarocks · 02/08/2012 16:05

Oh pebs keeping all crossed for you and hope you get to see that lovely flickering heartbeat, will be back on here to offer 'less bruising' tips if you want when you start the heparin, I have got it down to a fine art now!

Midgetm · 02/08/2012 16:07

Lovely news Far oh how I don't miss the heparin bruises. The first time the midwife showed me how to do them I had a bruise for a year (I kid you not). I was much better at doing them than her. Assume you will have regular scan to check the bloody flow Far?

pebspop · 02/08/2012 16:25

tell me all the tips! i would love to avoid the bruises if possible.

Moominsarescary · 02/08/2012 18:39

Be careful when pinching the skin that you dont do it too hard, make sure your only pinching fatty tissue, not muscle. Make sure the needle is at 90 degree angle

I once had a mw put the needle in sideways, i said to the student mw after she left. That is how NOT to do an injection. Ouch !

babylann · 02/08/2012 19:07

Hi everyone, I'd love to join this thread :) had an erpc yesterday after a mmc - the baby was re absorbed so I don't know when it happened, but I didn't find out until I went for a scan at the epu after two days of spotting at 11 weeks. I guess I won't need to talk about how devastated I was here as it's a pain we've sadly all felt to bring us here.

I'm undecided whether we'll start TTC immediately following my first period or just get started as soon as we're comfortable we've had time to grieve, as I have very irregular periods (I think pcos but not been diagnosed) so if I wait that long it could be up to 3 months if my past cycles are anything to go by and I don't want to wait that long.

I hope you don't mind having me around!

lurcherlover · 02/08/2012 21:02

Hi babylann - so sorry to hear about your mc.

I had a mmc and ERPC too, in May. I had AF five weeks later so hoped I was back to normal and we could ttc again - but I am now on day 40 of cycle 2, and getting bfn, so I don't know what's going on really. So be warned, your cycles may well be disrupted for a while. Never thought I'd say it, but I actually wish AF would show up!

StateofConfusion · 02/08/2012 22:03

Only had one movement, maybe two today, I don't know, they weren't in the usual spot, freaking out. 19+5 and dr google says not to worry about regular movement until 24wks. Anyone further along remember what they felt at this stage.

Midgetm · 02/08/2012 22:20

State it is still very early to feel regular movement. The baby is so small that you won't feel every movement. Try not to freak out. Try having some cold sweet stuff an lay on your left hand side and stay really still and see if the little bugger moves. If you are still really worried go into maternity triage although i think all they will do is listen for a HB. I do think it's quite normal. I still have really quiet days and I am 28 weeks. I just stay really still
Or prod him a lot. Let us know how you get on x

StateofConfusion · 03/08/2012 01:38

Had a few glasses of really cold pink milk, and got a few flutters, now finally given up and gone to bed and had several "I've got my dr martins on mum" kicks. This baby is a little bugger!

Midgetm · 03/08/2012 06:47

That's good. Mine does the same and at the last scan he was measuring 2.5lbs so how the hell he can stay so still is beyond me. I think he hides in a corner just to freak me out. And it works.

Jollyb · 03/08/2012 06:53

Babylann welcome to the thread and hope you're making a good recovery from your op. The when to start TTC decision . . after both my miscarriages my initial plan was to wait a little, allow my body to 'heal' and then start again but that went straight out of the window! Couldn't bring myself to use contraception.

State - please don't try to stress too much about movements at this time. As midget said the baby is still very small so any change in position will hugely affect what you're feeling. I don't think that you're meant to start kick counting until the mid 20s. When pregnant with my daughter I couldn't feel regular movement until at least 24 weeks. I had an anterior placenta. Fortunately this was a blissful pre miscarriage pregnancy and so I wasn't too worried by this. I'd be going crazy now!

Spotting stopped here and so am beginning to believe I may be pregnant again. I have decided not to buy anymore digitals so I can stop stressing about the conception counter.

woody17 · 03/08/2012 09:26

Hi everyone

Hope you are all ok.

babylann we've decided to ttc again straight away - for us, it just feels like the right thing to do and I feel absolutely desperate to get pg again.

jollyb I know what you mean about the digitals!

Well I have finally got a BFN after mc - it feels like it has taken absolutely ages, even though it's not really that long. I feel positive that we can start ttc again.

Does anyone know how long it tends to take from getting BFN to ov?

Jollyb · 03/08/2012 09:43

Hi woody
Glad you got your bfn - such a relief. I think everything can be a crazy for the first cycle. Some women don't ovulate at all this cycle. I'm not convinced I did. I think my first period was about 4 weeks after my negative test. You do hear of women getting pregnant straight away though - so definitely worth cracking on! Good luck

JaffaSnaffle · 03/08/2012 09:51

woody, I think it can all be a bit haywire after a miscarriage for a few months. I got pg straight after a mc, and I paid a lot more attention to my cervical mucus than anything else... For me, I bled for nearly 2 weeks, then OV about a week after that, but I think it can be completely random. My CM went really clear, stretchy, loads of it and it was a tiny bit pink. Think the pink thing is not always that common, but the rest is. Sorry if tmi, but it was the only clear marker I had...

JaffaSnaffle · 03/08/2012 10:12

I cannot communicate any more! I mean that CM going stretchy is common at OV, not OV is always common in cycle after mc...
