Glad ds's hand healing well green know exactly what you mean about being taken by surprise. I found I could cope with seeing newborns if I was expecting it and could steel myself xx

Hi mogwai I'd been wondering how you were getting on. Good to see you. 29 weeks - wow! Glad you've had some extra scans. It is important to feel well monitored xx

Finland wedding fan that sounds fab! Why did you choose there?

Awww mecha Dexter is absolutely gorgeous. Just perfect. Hope you were okay visiting your friend from nicu. And can I just say what a very impressive dog your boxer is!!

Angel click on Mech's user name and it will take you to her mn profile

Still mainlining ice lollies here Grin Looks like i've pretty much missed summer being ill this week - rain forecast all next week, boo!!

fanjodisfunction · 26/07/2012 22:01

wtw we wanted to get married somewhere different, DH wanted to do it on a beach but I found Finland. We got married in an ice chapel, were taken there by a reindeer led sleigh. It was amazing. It was just us, the best time of my life. We stayed in a log cabin and then on the lasy night we stayed in a glass igloo. It was magical and perfect.

greengoose · 26/07/2012 22:23

That sounds amazing FAN!

Whatevertheweather · 26/07/2012 22:41

Oh fan that sounds absolutely a-mazing! Dp was just saying the other day he'd like to stay in an ice hotel - might look at Finland for his 40th!

AngelGeorgie · 27/07/2012 00:00

Wowee Fan that is different .. We did the whole beach wedding in Cuba just magical... There was us, my parents, brother & sister ... Seems like a lifetime ago now...., lovely pagoda , on the beach for photos etc... Nice horse & carriage ride, our own local band: so easy & pretty ... Xxx

fanjodisfunction · 27/07/2012 06:33

angel I'm jealous have always wanted to go to Cuba.

wtw when I get in from work I will link to our wedding venue, and also the website we found it on. I would love to go back one day.

AngelGeorgie · 27/07/2012 08:30

Fan we first went there 12 years ago on our first holiday & so returned to get married... Was total bliss xxx

fanjodisfunction · 27/07/2012 08:46

angel I'll take that as a good reccomendation.

I'm just a bit excited about the opening ceremony, just beeped my horn at 8.12am this morning and I've been organising my day so that I have nothing to do this evening, I'm going to sit and watch it. I'm excited and hoping that it is brilliant. I'm hoping all our olympic greats are going to have something to do with the lighting of the cauldron. (DH thinks I'm a bit sad, but I love all this kind of thing, I'm very patriotic!)

KleinePoppet · 27/07/2012 13:08

Just popping on to say that I'm thinking of Mecha, hope you're ok after your hard day yesterday. Actually, thinking of all of you. So much going on and so much of it very difficult xxx

Weddings in Finland and Cuba sound so glamorous. You are obviously International Women of Mystery for whom the only option is to fly off to interesting locations to get married Wink

Things ok here. 'Good' days/bad days. Today is ok so far. Grateful for that! Also looking forward to watching the opening ceremony fan, although I don't know any of the specifics of what's happening, haven't exactly been following the news lately... a cauldron?!

KleinePoppet · 27/07/2012 13:13

PS Hi mogwai. I can't imagine what you're going through, losing your DS at that age. It's just dreadful, I'm so sorry. I hope this pg is as uneventful as possible for you.
We lost our little girl E six weeks ago (at 42 weeks pg); she was two days old - she'd been deprived of oxygen for about 30 minutes and so had no chance of living longer. She was amazing though and we're so SO glad we had her. Just wish she was still here. Thank you for the welcome x

AugustMoon · 27/07/2012 15:14

Finally found some time to catch up with you lovely ladies... DS2 been poorly with tonsilitus - that and a newborn = rushed off my feet!
wtw seems you were in hospital for the same time as me! Glad you're home and feeling a bit better. Bit of a shame about missing what might be the one week of summer I agree. Not that I can complain - I feel like the luckiest person alive right now. You're on countdown now - not long Smile
fan your wedding sounds incredible, am a little bit Envy! Where are you in yr cycle now? Lost track a bit. I know you and blizy are kind of in sync... I'm actually surprised to find I'm quite excited about the opening ceremony too! My boys will be staying up tonight.
poppet haven't officially "met" so sorry you're here but I would be lost without this lot so you're in a good place - as i'm sure you know already Smile My baby Jacob was stillborn at 35 wks almost a year ago and I now have a rainbow baby - it's strange being so happy but still having an ache in your heart
Hi to angel, green, too, blizy, blue* and anyone I've missed.
mech hi, not really "met" either. So sorry about Dexter, I love that name - was on our list. Good luck on your journey. It's a long, hard road. Sadly longer for others.

Quick birth story:
Went in Sunday morning for induction but v busy labour ward meant I had to wait til the evening for first prostin, which didn't do anything. Had the second Monday morning and the third monday afternoon, a few contractions started but nothing really happened. So, Tuesday morning went to have my water's broken. Still nothing (!) - he didn't want to budge. Eventually it was decided I would go on an a syntocin drip, had a little wait for the anaesthetist (wanted an epidural) which finally got things moving and he was born at 5:15am on Wednesday 25th July 2012 weighing 7lb. We're calling him Adam, we think.

greengoose · 27/07/2012 15:15

I'm going to be very very British and say..... I'm too HOT! The Scottish girl in me burns at the first thought of summer, and I'm melting! I'm not wishing it away though, it's glorious. Have spent today playing with water and drain pipes in the garden with the boys and baking banana bread. Sometimes it's almost harder doing stuff I love, it makes it obvious that I'm not completely happy, and can't imagine ever being complete in anyway anymore. I hope for the sake of DP and DSs that this isn't true, they deserve the 'happy me'. I'm getting good at faking it I think.

I hope you are all appreciating the sunshine if not at work, and if working I hope it stays through the WE for you! Off to get the bread out of the oven... We are eating it in the treehouse!

AngelGeorgie · 27/07/2012 15:17

Kleine indeed I am very glamorous??? Wink
1 day at a time , gradually over time the good days outweigh the bad but took me a long time to get there... Lots of hugs xxx
Fan couldn t recommend Cuba highly enough ( 1 of my fav destinations amongst my cruise, Egypt & Budapest ) xxx

greengoose · 27/07/2012 15:20

Cross posted August!!.... Congratulations!!! Adam is a lovely name, I have known one Adam ever and he was very special, but it's a name everyone can say and know, while being quite underused, good choice, if you stick with it! How are you? It sounds like quite a long haul, but obviously well worth it! DS2 has perfect timing with the tonsillitis! ( making sure he gets his share of you too?)! xxx

AngelGeorgie · 27/07/2012 15:22

August a million congrats xxxAdam is a lovely name .... It's so bitter sweet isn t it? However, the pure relief I felt at Phebs being here & alive was over whelming .. Meant we could move on to the next stage with new worries , not the same old.. So happy for u & your family..xxxGrinGrin
Welcome Adam : another rainbow baby to add to our ever expanding family xxxxxx
Green mmmm.... Home baked bread sounds fab??? Xxxx

Bluetinkerbell · 27/07/2012 15:33

Hi all,
Haven't been very active on here the last few days! Been very busy with arranging everything for the holiday club we're organising in 2 weeks, as I'm going over to Belgium next week to visit my family! :)

August congratulations! Your rainbow is a day younger than my new nephew Wink

green I'm too hot as well! and I burn very easily in the sun, so I'm trying to stay out of it

wtw glad you're home! Enjoy your K's cuddles, soon she will have to share you Wink

Oh yes for the newbies! If you are on FB we have a FB group as well, so if you want to join (you don't have to feel obliged) pm me your name and profile pic description and I'll see if I can add you (sometimes it's really difficult to find someone on FB)

I'm doing fine at the moment, my bump has really popped out now :) will be the 'magical' 24 weeks on Sunday...
We're flying over to Belgium on Monday night! Grin the midwife was going to write me a 'fit to fly' letter, not that I need it, but flying with Ryanair Wink but when I went to pick it up this morning it wasn't at the doctor's surgery... Not sure if I can be bothered to hassle her for it now, as I will need it on Monday... ah well, I'm taking my notes anyway so there shouldn't be any problem really. Fx

My sister is not coping very well at the moment, nephew had high temperature yesterday and is dehydrated, she's blaming herself that she's not breastfeeding well. But it is very very hot in the hospital... they decided to keep her in a day longer until Sunday (it's standard to stay 5 days in Belgium with a normal delivery) I said to BIL they should let her go home if it is that hot, but they need the support of the midwives and doctors at the moment. :( Feel a bit sad there is not more I can do for them... They have cancelled all visits and my sister is now going to extract milk for 24 hours and they're feeding him that and topping him up with formula too... Only a few more sleeps before I can be there to help her out!

Looking forward to the Olympic Opening Ceremony tonight! :) fan will be thinking of you! I know you're counting down! Wink

blizy · 27/07/2012 16:46

august I am totall thrilled for you, Adam is a fantastic name, I loves it!

blue your poor sister sounds like she is having a rough time.

green Scottish you say? Me too, I'm in Glasgow and also melt in the heat. I burnt a bit on Wed and I was wearing factor 50! ( I was a ginger as a child, and I'm full of freckles)

HI mogwai Of course we remember you! Hope you are keeping well. x

fan/angel Your weddings sound fantastic! I am well Envy

I was shopping today for dh birthdat present, every shop I was in had sad songs playing, Puff daddy's I'll be missing you tipped me over the edge. I can add River Island to the list of shops I have sobbed in.
I too am looking forward to the opening cermony tonight!

Hope you are all ok, sorry I can't name check Alfie has decided to lie over my arm, one han typing is a pain. Good job he is cute Grin fan How are your two terrors?

KleinePoppet · 27/07/2012 17:21

August no we've not properly 'met' till now but I am so thrilled for you and your family! Wonderful news. I know there will always be a gap in your family and your heart but so glad for your little boy's safe arrival. xx

Blue hope v much that things improve for your sister and nephew asap.
Thanks for info re FB. Have come off it for now.

blizy I cried at some shop music just yesterday, some terrible song that was all about death was playing while I wandered round...

Bluetinkerbell · 27/07/2012 18:03

Oh yes forgot to mention that the FB group is secret, so nobody of your friends can see what you post in it, unless they are also in the group Wink But it is safer than MN as nobody can see what you post! :)

Whatevertheweather · 27/07/2012 18:12

Oh August Adam is a gorgeous name Smile He is utterly adorable bet you are on cloud nine. Cannot wait to be in your position in 2.5 weeks! Poor ds2 though hope he recovers quickly

Green you will get there my lovely, I can now do lovely things with Katie and genuinely enjoy myself with just an odd pang of what should have been. It took a good 6 months to feel like I wasn't just going through the motions though. I distinctly remember sometime around March looking forward to a day out and it being such an alien feeling to be excited but a welcome change. It's like the grief becomes intertwined with your everyday life and becomes easier to live with over time. Big hugs xx

Blue your poor sister Sad It must be hard having a newborn in this heat. Hope he manages to start feeding better xx

Fan I can't wait for the opening ceremony Smile Wish it was on a bit earlier though!

Love to all xx

fanjodisfunction · 27/07/2012 18:20

august Adam is a great name, and one that has been buzzing round my head for the past few weeks. What a few days you had to go through, was it quite nervy? Well done you though, youve got there youve got your rainbow baby. Much love hun.

blizy my terrors are curled up on the sofa at the moment, they adore my DH and usually go to sleep when hes out, hes just popped out for a run. And then hes playing footie. Hes mad. Hes running the Inverness marathon at the end of September, and after he tried to get a flight from our local airport to Inverness with no luck, I have now said I will drive him there and back. I must be mad its an 11 hour drive!

poppet Im an internationl woman of mystery in the guise of Austin Powers, I too have funky teeth and wear glasses (actually teeth fixed a few years ago) Smile

blue really five days in hospital, she must be going out of her mind. It is too hot in hospitals, I hate them for that. I bet your excited about going home. Hvae you had to go out and buy new clothes to accomodate your increasing bump?

wtw how are you today? Are you feeling better? Have you got enough ice lollies? Im sending you lots of positive vibes that the rest of your pg goes smoothly.

green I go red very quickly in the sun, not good for a gardener really. I wear factor 50! My DH is from Glasgow and has ginger hair but he goes brown more than I do.

Ive lost two pounds this week, but I think I might pop out now and get some chocolate to have while watching the ceremony. Im so excited!

fanjodisfunction · 27/07/2012 18:22

august should have said Im a bit out of sync with blizy now due to my miscarriage, Im on CD8 just finished AF have to wait a week now for ov. Hoping the health kick DH is doing (with no beer) will mean a BFP very soon.

Bluetinkerbell · 27/07/2012 18:30

fan yes, I remember from having E in November that the hospital was soooo hot... :( If I would have still been in Belgium I would definitely have a home birth or a 1 day hospital stay, but certainly not longer!
I bought a few stretchy dresses :) and I still had some clothes from when I was pregnant with E and I bought a few last year... so I should be ok for now... I did buy a new nursing top in Mothercare the other day as it was half price and I wanted something decent to be able to breastfeed in church later on Wink

Whatevertheweather · 27/07/2012 19:42

Good weight loss fan. Smile I'm definitely getting back to slimming world after this ones born. Feeling better today though I did a few bits with K this avo and I'm now shattered - think I need to remember not to push it. Still loving ice lollies! K and I made some ribena ones in moulds they are lush!

I can definitely vouch that hospitals are indeed very hot at the moment!!

blizy · 27/07/2012 19:55

Fan- wow to the mega drive! You will prob drive past my wee town.
