When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Just Shagging - no science, just sex, sex and more sex! The lazy way to make a baby, part 9 (we think!)

Confused by all the TTC talk? OPKs? Taking your temperature?! Then this is the thread for you! We want babies the good old-fashioned way - through drunken, spontaneous shagging at any time of the month Grin. All you need is a man, Wine, ramekins and a batch of cheapo pregnancy sticks, and you're good to go! (Shag-capes and actual Sex optional)

The group is so successful that you can see the results for yourself in our graduates thread full of mamas who JSed their way to motherhood. Getting a BFP within a few weeks is known as "doing a kitten", and due to the secret and magical powers of the Just Shagging thread, this happens from time to time.

We have our own TTC language - EWCM is now known as "pant snot", AF is now "ERTD" (Evil red tide of DOOM!), OV is ovulation, and of course, JSing is Just Shagging!

Viroids is our name of choice, the reason is long since lost in the annals of time. If you really feel the need to take a test, Gu Ramekins are what all the classy birds are using. And of course, drinking is essential. Sometimes, we even remember to have sex Wink

Old thread is here if you want proof it works!

Come join us!

We also fitted in a quick JS this morning before work - DDs were watching television so was rather quiet and quick! Not sure there was a 'purpose' to it beyond it being fun!

topbannana · 25/05/2012 20:33

Hur hur hur hur hur :o JS'd while DS was watching Harry Potter on DVD and I was showing off a skirt I had bought (I only own one other skirt :)) If only I had realised it was as easy as just buying a skirt I would have done it years ago :o

Frakiosaurus · 25/05/2012 20:35

RIBS you are the first proof ever that Herbal Essences aren't lying! Please tell me that was the shampoo you were using at the time...

something I'm going with....it's not so much old as a loss of core strength. Therefore persuasion and anyone else TTC1 can feel both sprighly and horrified at what they have to look forward to. quickly schedules pilates class

I have an absolute arse of a paper to write about linguistic vs communicative competence and I've been putting it off but I have to submit it Monday :( and I'm over the word limit already and I've not really got enough theoretically justification. Bugger. DH has gone to bed so no JSing and he's then deployed for 4 days, back for a day and deployed for a week.

southlundon · 25/05/2012 21:47

Frak - keep going with the paper. I'm in the same boat with a massive work publication (don't go there) I should be at least halfway through and have told boss as so but in fact I've barely started. Blush Have got a releconference about it on Wed and I'm crapping myself about it unless I get TONS done Monday/Tuesday.

Marjori - did you know that if you just hold your finger down a bit longer on the scen you'll get a select/select all option then can copy/cut etc and to paste do the same thing. HTH!

There are an awful lot of us on this thread aren't there? I hope you lot are finding having a list as helpful as I am. I just forgot the details about people as time went on. Confused

southlundon · 25/05/2012 21:49

Marjori that should be hold your finger down on the ipad screen (it's the same on an iPhone). Hope it made sense anyway.

southlundon · 25/05/2012 21:52

Frak - I forgot to say that I find it's easier to cut words out than put more in. Get stuck into the theoretical bits now and trim the waffly first half afterwards. Good luck!

I also forgot to say its our 5th wedding anniversary tomorrow but we've got DH's DSis staying over babysitting for us with her two DDs so I'm not sure how much JSing will be done with her in the room next door and since I got back from the conference yesterday we've both been far to knackered to JS. Boo.

Talking of which, I'm heading off. Yawn.

somethingwittynot · 25/05/2012 22:30

back feels better but DP is working nights! will JS when he gets in Grin

mandasand · 26/05/2012 01:41

been away from screen all day and what a lot of fun chat to catch up on!

topbanana: buy more skirts!! woop :)

welcome missmarjorie and minerva! Brew all round.

ribs wow!

woman: a freezer!

sorry to have brought up the tricksy topic of men WWing! it defo happens a lot in DH's 95% male company and other blokes have testified to being a dab hand at it (pardon the pun!) DH says he doesn't WW but I don't really believe him. but as long as he's thinking of me Wink and I prob shouldn't admit that I have in a previous job a handful of times (I think it was boredom working through the evening in an empty building.) kitten what is WFH???

I sympathise with the writing frak and south. part of my job involves writing books and the next one absolutely has to be out by end of 2013. I asked editor for an extension till Dec and NOT poss so I have to submit by end of August, and because of two other biggish projects I can't begin to start revising what I have till beginning of July. Not being able to start is stressing me out a lot...but I guess I should have started sooner (story of my life...)

no shennanigans at lottie tonight as I've stupidly entered us into The Best Plot competition and it's all getting a bit serious: first round of judging on Tuesday and we're up north with family / friends this weekend. and now I'm going to work through the night marking student essays that are a week overdue. Blush thank god for husb driving in the morning!

somethingwittynot · 26/05/2012 09:51

ow

Frakiosaurus · 26/05/2012 09:59

mandasand I really hate having overdue work for students. I remember how much I hated it :(

Dysgu · 26/05/2012 16:36

I am feeling a tad jealous of all you people who work from home (WFH?) and I rather like the sound of all the jobs that involve so much writing - although can see how the deadlines make it tough.

As a teacher I don't have the option of working from home! I sometimes wonder whether to use the (hoped for) maternity leave with DC3 to think about a career change - only I love teaching and justify the long hours the girls spend in child care during term time with the fact that they spend 13 weeks of the year with me and we try to make weekends and holidays as much 'quality family time' as possible.

ERTD is due to today (I think) but doesn't seem to be doing anything about making an appearance. I do have one clearblue test in the bathroom but I am trying to avoid using it for as long as i can stand.

That said, we are having a BBQ this evening and I was given a lovely bottle of wine by a colleague...

dygsu I also teach, and prefer teaching, but at university level so comparatively low contact hours and research.

SunshineandChoccy · 26/05/2012 18:00

Just had a great day in the park, loads of Wine cheese and a baguette with beetroot (yum I love beetroot).

I envy anyone that gets to WFH but there is no way I could do that with the line of work I do. Anyone ever thought of starting their own business so they had more say in their work hours??? And of course enabled flexibility with regards to looking after the little ones?

dysgu fingers crossed for you....... Try waiting as long as possible before you test if ERWD doesn't appear soon

Happy sunny weekend to everyone

topbannana · 26/05/2012 20:41

Hmm, no sign of ERTD yet but by my calculations should actually arrive about Tuesday(ish)
Spent the morning at a local school fete where DS was playing in a netball (yes netball, WTF?!) tournament. Diligently applied suncream, hat etc to DS and then got burnt to a crisp myself (while sat in the shade FFS!) At this point I should perhaps say that I am not normally prone to burning but despite this am normally quite diligent with the Factor30- except this morning Hmm
So no JS'ing tonight unless we can devise a way that does not involve DH holding onto me, nor any sort of friction to my shoulders, back, neck etc :o
Tomorrow DS is taking part in the school fun run and is determined to win, with a combination of pegging it like Hell and me waiting halfway round to gee him along. No more beer and off to bed with my sunburn it is then, night all :o

topbannana · 26/05/2012 20:53

Oh well, a quick trip to the loo after my last post confirms that ERTD has just arrived :( So no worries about JS'ing tonight but on the positive, means that I am pg free while on holiday and (theoretically!) should OV while away :o

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 26/05/2012 21:26

I should be marking student exam scripts as I type. Oh well, as it's a Saturday night I think I'll procrastinate further and leave until Monday. That way I can make sure I'm really stressed by Wednesday night as I mark them all for Thursday deadline!

I'm fortunate that I partly work from home (doing PhD) and teach at University one day a week (though going up to 2 next year Sad. I also do Pampered Chef as a hobby and earn extra income that way. I have friends who've given up f/t teaching positions because they earn more £ doing less hours through Pampered Chef. Not there yet though!

We managed to JS last night in misrepresented as posh hotel and managed another JS before picking the kids up. Still haven't had ERTD and it's now been 8 days, but was BFN when I tested yesterday Confused.

Dysgu · 26/05/2012 21:48

ERTD has not made an appearance here - although I am not really sure of the length of my cycle. Last month was the first ever time I had counted and it was 26 days - today is day 26; that is from the first day of my last ERTD - is that how you count?

Also, we have new neighbours after the house next door has been empty for 18+ months. The only trouble with this is that we can hear sounds and have to work out whether they are coming from next door or whether it is the DDs creeping downstairs! Means we are in two minds about JSing on the sofa!

MissMarjoribanks · 27/05/2012 09:29

Had a lovely day yesterday out on a lake in the IL's sailing boat. Plenty of sun cream required, but it has a cabin so there was some respite. None of us got burnt and DS was as good as gold. I had visions of him refusing to wear his life jacket and trying to chuck himself over the side, but he has never sat so still. And he slept all the way home.

No JSing due to utter exhaustion. Grin

I am a bit perturbed as my boobs are utter agony - started yesterday and still are today.

I work a flexible fifth day at home. I have to do 4 days in the office and then make up to 37 hours at home however I want to. Usually I do a couple of evenings in the week and Sundays. The main disadvantage is I'm constantly behind with the ironing, but the advantages outweigh that by far.

Persuasion · 27/05/2012 09:46

Sorry about ERTD topbanana but sounds like you're keeping positive. Oving on holiday sounds good Smile and at least it'll give your sunburn time to heal!

dysgu do you have any idea when you OVed?26 is a fairly short cycle, but you're doing well not testing, maybe try to wait a bit longer why can't I follow my own advice fingers crossed for you anyway

something is your back ow again, or something else?

I'm outside all day today so hoping not to get burnt as wouldn't want to disrupt my ability to JS. Have decided I probably OVed friday, so making eRTD predictions based on that I'd be due by friday 8th at the latest. Am NOT going to test before then. Had a pregnancy dream friday night and already getting my hopes up that it's my subconscious trying to tell me something!

flyingsprocket · 27/05/2012 14:42

Wowsers. It's been a week and so much to catch up on- a couple of BFPs yay!! Thanks

JSing like something. JSing in parks & sheds & work! And Shock Shock WORK WANKING Shock Shock

I have honestly never heard of work wanking. Maybe it's coz I'm a good Irish girlie!! I hope to of none of my male colleagues partake in it. We have shared bunks in work for resting and thoughts of it- ewww!!
