The BESH Republic Of Rulvakia

Welcome to The BESH Republic Of Rulvakia. The national drink is of course gin, state funded to get you into a state. We have many traditions and customs, such as sechsing, swearing for the fun of it (optional) and urinating on little white sticks.
Enemy of the state is Droid, who must be heckled heartily should it put in an appearance. There is an ongoing lottery to win a baybee, being granted citizenship of The Republic is your ticket to the lottery.

As a democracy all members are entitled to put forward any customs or rules they would like and we can all adopt important but silly titles if we like. See the George Carlin sketch about hats and religion and make your own mind up about whether you would like a ceremonial hat to accompany whichever title/role you bestow upon yourself.

Newcomers should find and complete the BESHtionnaire so we can make sure you are cynical and non-fluffy enough to be granted Citizenship.

Thanks queen, don't expect to get much out of it except more investigations started but it's progress!

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 14:33

Oh and sinky, how annoying about your appointment! It's like you read you've been seeing the wrong people, they send you an appointment, they cancel your appointment! Grr.

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 14:50

Flippin' heck it feels like all I do on t'other place is hide pregnancy announcements. For DC2. When I was TTC for #1 when they announced DC1 was on the way :(

queenrollo · 19/06/2012 14:59

so...getting appointments.

Have spoken to a Doula today, who agreed that I should probably just take the first appt I can get with the Community Midwife and then see about sorting the scan. Phoned surgery who won't release the appt to me, because I need to be seen at 9 weeks. Told to phone midwives dept at hospital and they will arrange my care. Are they answering the phones? Of course they bloody aren't....

OP posts:
queenrollo · 19/06/2012 15:29

it's helps if your surgery give you the right ext number Hmm i got the switchboard to put me through but the CM isn't there, so a lovely lady has put my details in the book so I will get a call back tomorrow.

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 16:13

What's a Doula?! Keep pushing queen! I only talked to an answer phone but got an appointment through!

Mmm I'm relaxed. That massage has chilled out out. Was a bit Shock as she did it but I feel more comfortable than I have on months. We have a free standing hammock and read a bit in the sunshine. Now having a rest on the bed watching Glee :) mmm

queenrollo · 19/06/2012 16:25

Basically a doula is someone to give you moral support and understanding through pregnancy, birth and post-natally. Kind of like an extra birthing partner I suppose. The lady I spoke to has been doula twice to a friend of mine so comes highly recommended. It will take the pressure of HOLB especially during the birth as she will be my 'walking birth plan' so she will communicate with the midwives for me so HOLB can concentrate on wholly supporting me.
Given how stretched our Community Midwife service is I feel I need a little more support from elsewhere and especially as I want a Home Birth.

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 16:31

Oh that sounds really good! Sounds like a great support :)

Northey · 19/06/2012 17:07

bugsy, I'm so sorry scan wasn't as reassuring as it was meant to be. I have sort of been there, in that my early scan showed a prepared uterus but nothing visible in it and I was told to come back in a week to see if anything had grown big enough to see. It is such an odd and horrid situation, held between reminding yourself that all hope is not lost, and at the same time preparing yourself for the worst. What day are you going back?

Northey · 19/06/2012 19:11

So. 3dpo, can I tell myself that my massive appetite is a sign of diffedness, as opposed to a sign of greediness? Don't answer...

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 19:27

Yes cos it's clearly that causing my insatiable desire for chocolate and my fatigue nothing to do with massage and strong painkillers

ShredniVashtar · 19/06/2012 20:55

bugs Sad that you still have to wait for reassurance. Crossing everything that it will be ok. Hold tight.

faith, glad you are feeling better! That's great. And cave, looks like Frankel had an awesome day today! Are you on cloud 9?

So, cd 12 here and I have given GFBW strict instructions to come home straight after the football to commence operation shagfest. The evening primrose oil is working its magic this month so can def recommend it for anyone who needs - ahem - a little help in the ewcm department Grin

Northey · 19/06/2012 21:00

Ooh, how dOes that work, 30dayShred? Does it give you ewcm all the time? Or boost it at the appropriate moment? Does it work ok with Clomid, do you know?

CaveMum · 19/06/2012 21:13

Evening all, I'm back! Teas a fabulous day, and yes Frankel was phenomenal Grin

I'll try and pop a photo of me in my posh frock up later.

Northey · 19/06/2012 21:21

cavemum, I like that you have the West Wing twice in your "tv likes" in your profile :)

eurochick · 19/06/2012 21:23

norfy it hasn't helped me.

I'm glad the massage was good faif.

bugs sorry to hear your reassurance scan wasn't reassuring.

I am having a bit of a shit evening. I came home to find my smear test result on the doormat. For the first time in 18 years (the time I have been having them) it is abnormal. And the accompanying leaflet says it should be repeated and not to get pregnant until any issues are resolved. Helpful when I am in the middle of an IVF cycle... I've booked a GP appointment Monday to discuss. I think I'll try to get a gynae referral for some proper advice. Maybe I can continue with the IVF cycle, freeze any embryo and have a quicker repeat test. Meh. Really not what I need now.

Northey · 19/06/2012 21:32

euro! Argh! I'm so sorry. Obviously you'll work out what you want to do with doctors and so on, but if it would help I can tell you my experience of the same thing? I had several irregular smears, with treatment in between, and was told not to get pregnant. In the beginning I was obedient to that, but eventually, because the whole thing dragged on over years, I just started having unprotected sex again, thinking that if I did get pregnant I would postpone treatment for a year. Obviously if it had turned properly cancerous I would have acted differently, but at the "irregularity" stage I thought it was a risk worth taking, especially since the changes apparently often return to normal on their own.

What crap crap timing though. I'm so sorry for you. You really don't need anything extra to deal with in the gynae area...

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 21:38

That's bllocks euro*. What rubbish timing :( My friend had one abnormal and when they retested it was ok. I really, really must book my smear I hope your GP can reassure you.

eurochick · 19/06/2012 23:04

Thanks both. I've heard about the changes returning to normal on their own. I wonder if the abnormal result is due to the HPV virus (which 80% of people have so I assume I am one) becoming more active after 6 months of immune-suppressing steroids.... Maybe after a few months my immune system would make the virus back down.

Could you take some time off, bugs? I sympathise so much. Between my first and second scans I went on holiday with my sister (hospital was. Shock that the doc let me go - I was v lucky not to rupture while away, but anyway). It was awful. I could barely speak half the time - my mind was absolutely one track. she knew nothing about what was going on. The strain of trying to act normally was horrid. On the other hand, I'm not sure sitting at home frozen in fear the whole time would have been any healthier for me.

Are you meant to be going in today?

CaveMum · 20/06/2012 07:13

I've only just caught up on yesterday's posts. Bugs I'm sorry the scan didn't provide reassurance for you. It's a difficult one to call, on the one hand you might feel like you can't focus on work but on the other hand if you stay at home you might drive yourself mad with worry.

Euro, sorry to hear about your smear result. Can you get your fertility doctor to call your GP and explain the situation?
