Hi, me again, what is sa, and icsi? Sorry you must be fed up explaining yourselves to the newbie Blush.

cartoonface · 01/05/2012 14:51

pretty sure sa is sperm analysis

Calamityboo · 01/05/2012 14:57

Aah, yes, I thought it was to do with little swimmers, the 'a' was confusing me which is very easy to do there days

cartoonface · 01/05/2012 14:59

literally have no idea about icsi. theres a few that i dont get! haha

clickingtock · 01/05/2012 15:00

Delayed ov after CP, Whims? I think you may need a CBFM as I happen to know one that may be coming on the market soon though I better not tempt fate so should or shouldn't hold on to it for at least another 26 weeks min? Or as they all say, too early to POAS. When you got BFP on cd36 how many days past ov do you think you were? Time to temp? Even if you get all the tests done you'll still need to know exact hour day/eve of ov to win against the rat. But glad gauntlet is down - you need some answers. Brooking.

Cartoon - I had to use the Acronyms link - bottom navigation on each MN page - when I first joined this club. Wink ICSI - sperm injected into egg before egg is returned to uterus: posh and fiddly IVF in other words - v useful for men with very low sperm count/poor quality wrigglers.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:06

cartoon when you have your first scan, they measure the baby and date it more accurately - they still tack on 2 extra weeks though.
As far as not being as far along as you thought, say your cycle was 6 weeks long - you wouldn't actually ovulate and therefore get pregnant til about 4 weeks after AF. At your 12 week scan (calculated from your last AF) they'd measure the baby and discover that the baby was 2 weeks younger than you thought, i.e. you were only 2 weeks. Hope that makes sense :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:07

Sorry, should be "you were only 10 weeks" :)

whimsicalname · 01/05/2012 15:08

Thanks tock I think I ov'ed last Friday / sat (cm and opk endorsed) so late in cycle, but that seems to be normal for me. I think i average day 17-19 in a 30 day cycle if you see what I mean. I think AF isn't really due until tomorrow, so I'm being a bit naughty with the old sticks, but it only takes one good one!

And thanks for the explanation re ICSI. I had no idea either cartoon. and the acronym list doesn't have all of them! Never be afraid to ask.

Calamityboo · 01/05/2012 15:09

Thanks tock, and congratulations, I am on my phone at the mo so no acronyms for me yet.

Calamityboo · 01/05/2012 15:11

Ooh x posted, good luck whims. :)

clickingtock · 01/05/2012 15:20

Well - if I was being properly technical I should have said single sperm is injected into egg - fertilization - and a couple of days later blastocyst (aren't I clever?) is returned to progesterone fuelled uterus in hope of implantation and subsequent BFP!

Yes Fluff - I must be equally as superstitious.

Sounds like AF is due tomorrow or day after? I'm sure the sticks know that, Whims and anyway they want to see you doing some more tangoing so are definitely lining a BFP for you.

cartoonface · 01/05/2012 15:21

sorry im being really daft so if u have a more reg cycle length like 30days and according to your last period you thought u were say 8/9wks but they put u at just over 6. would u think that there mite be a prob

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:24

Not necessarily cartoon - I had regular 31-33 day cycles but I still had one random 40 day cycle while ttc, so you can never be 100% positive of your dates (unless you're charting maybe). It's only a problem if it meant a missed miscarriage, but as long as the heart's beating it probably means nothing at all?? At a guess :)

cartoonface · 01/05/2012 15:28

well i had a missed m/c they reckoned it was 5/6wks on the scan i thought i was 10/11 they kept saying at first i must of had my dates wrong i knew when id had a period so didnt see how it could be that wrong. obviously i mc but is there ever a chance that that could have just been very wrong dates

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:29

There's another board I lurk on (I don't post) and someone's just posted the most abhorrent thread I've ever read. She wanted a baby girl and tried "the shettles method, the girl diet and only bd'd when the chinese gender calendar said it was a girl" - got pregnant, went for her 20 week scan and, after 10 pages of "omg, I'm so nervous I barfed", she finds out she's having a boy. Now her status reads "XuserX is sad".

Makes me so fecking Angry Angry Angry Poor, poor boy.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:32

cartoon they'd have said it was 5/6 weeks as it measured in your womb, so it stopped growing at 5/6 weeks but obviously your scan wasn't until 10/11 weeks so it measured small/younger. It is always possible you/they can be wrong with dates with a healthy pregnancy, though - nobody's cycle is militarily regular if that's a word. I'm really sorry for your loss :(

cartoonface · 01/05/2012 15:36

thanks fluff. thats awful the post u just wrote about how ungrateful they should be happy with their baby boy! some of us would be happy with anything boy/girl/alien

ScrambledSmegs · 01/05/2012 15:37

Shock Fluff that's horrible. Poor little boy. I have some sympathy when people understand that their feelings are wrong, and 'gender-disappointment' is quite often linked to ante-natal depression. But that's just vile. To think of all the people desperately ttc just one deeply wanted child, and she's upset because she's having a boy? It makes me so Angry.

ScrambledSmegs · 01/05/2012 15:42

cartoon I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Sadly I think Fluff is right, your baby stopped growing at 5/6 weeks, I guess when you had your mmc.

I had a mc before getting pg with my DD, and I know that it adds a great deal of pressure and fear to subsequent ttc and pg's. Take care of yourself and do try to relax - I know I sound like a broken record but hypnotherapy really can help. I'm not on commission btw!

cartoonface · 01/05/2012 15:52

smegs im awful so up and down also yrs ago i had an abortion which i cant help thinking bout. maybe thats why i mc this tim. maybe that one would have mc too. as i wasnt sure the dates they told me then matched wot id thought. my heads spinning today. sorry having a bad day Sad

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:55

Oh cartoon :( Don't apologise, we all have them
I'm sure your abortion had nothing to do with it whatsoever, please don't blame yourself :(

ScrambledSmegs · 01/05/2012 15:56

cartoon that has nothing to do with your recent loss. Honestly. I know you know it really. It's not your fault. I know it's difficult, but you have to remember that it was not a viable pregnancy, and nothing you did could have made it so.

Have you had counselling? Maybe go to your GP and see if you can talk to someone about it. You don't have to feel this way. (((((hugs)))))

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:57

I was Shock smegs. She already has boys I think, so I can understand wanting a girl, but to that extent? She even said she spent her last pregnancy in mourning because it was a boy Hmm it's just so wrong to inflict that on a child imho :(

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 01/05/2012 15:58

Clearly I need to stick to MN... :)

ScrambledSmegs · 01/05/2012 15:58

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so stern! I mean it though, please don't blame yourself. You will have a gorgeous plump little baby soon, I know it .
