The last couple of threads got lots of people pg. Let's hope this is another lucky one.

OP posts:

Ta luv Wink. Yup, am a Londoner, and HB's rock! Essex isn't far though - who fancies a brookers meet-up? Or would it be impossible to look each other in the eye, knowing what we all know about CM/SWI etc Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 11:48

Oooh, I would be up for that. It's strange, since knowing you lot, talking about CM and various parts of the anatomy now no longer phases me. I reckon I could strike up a conversation with a stranger about it all. Though I think that may make me look a tad unhinged Grin

Dunno, 'Meet Sparkle' has a nice ring to it Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 12:25

Grin Smegs and Sparks

Solars · 27/04/2012 12:41

Oooo I would be up for a meet up, I live just north of London!

Finally got a negative opk today, but will soldier on with swi [sigh]

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 12:44

Solars you are a trooper. I too am soldiering on as it were, despite not thinking my body is working at the moment! Though to be honest, I am quite enjoying it, I feel like a youngster again Grin

Solars · 27/04/2012 12:51

I enjoyed the first few times Maybe but perhaps my age is catching up on me now! Really hope you get that appointment with gp, sounds like our drs in terms of getting an appointment, my DH got so fed up with it he changed gps!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 12:53

They are great if you aren't fussed about who you see, but she is obviously in demand. And apparently she only works mornings too. I am sure it will all be worth it when I finally get to see her though.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 27/04/2012 12:59

Yay to the negative OPK, the end is near Solars Grin

A brookers meet up sounds lovely although it's a bit far for me as I'm up north.

Have just remembered that I'm off down south for the Harry Potter Studio tour next week. Can't wait for a few days away.

Smegs I'm on book 3 which is really annoying my DH. He is going to start the books as he can't bear that I know what's going to happen before him. He's a bit of a slow reader though so by the time he gets to book 3 it will probably have already been on tv!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 13:12

Bugger me, there is a guy that has just walked into the building that backs on to mine strapped in gas cannisters threatening to blow it up! They have shut Tottenham Court Road Shock

Biscuitsandtea · 27/04/2012 13:20

Bloody hell Maybe Shock

Hope you're safe xx

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 13:31

Its crazy! We haven't been evacuated as of yet, but I think it's suffice to say that none of us are really getting anything don! I am safe though lovely, thank you. How are you? How's little Ethan?x

Maybe I've been following that on twitter. I hope everything gets resolved quietly. I have some friends on TCR at the moment, but I think they're safely outside the cordon.

Take care, stay safe.
Smegs x

BartletForAmerica · 27/04/2012 13:42

Oh dear, Maybe, that sounds scary. I just saw that on the Daily Mail website news. Have you had to evacuate as well?

A brookers meet up could be done. It would be scary but it could be done. I am 45 minutes away from London by train, so it sounds like there are a good number of us nearby.

I had a homebirth with DS. I never actually imagined that he would be born at home. I had booked as a tactical decision so I would have a midwife with me for the bulk of it then would go into hospital once the pain got too much etc. Almost all the doctors I know have given birth needing huge amounts of analgesia, failed ventouse/forceps, then emergency section, so I imagined this is how it was going to happen for me too. Much to my surprise, it all went swimmingly and he was born in our bed, albeit after 22 hours but that is another story. That said, I am always very clear with friends that I am certainly not a homebirth at all costs sort of person, and that the important thing is getting the baby out with mother and baby alive and well at the end, however that happens. There are no prizes for not having an epidural/section etc.

Reading about Brookers wanting to see their GP re: fertility problems, I've found the link to the guidelines from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I wonder if reading through these might help before you see your GPs:

www.rcog.org.uk/womens-health/clinical-guidance/fertility-assessment-and-treatment-people-fertility-problems

Hope that Smegs is feeling a bit better. I've found with both of mine that the tablets really do take the edge off the nausea and vomiting.

ScrambledSmegs · 27/04/2012 13:52

Oh, I know that if it was really necessary I would go into hospital, Bartlet. The problem is that due to an appalling midwife who whacked up my 'walking' epidural to almost totally incapacitated, despite my screaming protestations, I ended up with a cascade of interventions that even the hospital admit should never have happened. I had nightmares for months afterwards, and difficulty bonding with my DD for a while. Definitely contributed to my PND. Disclaimer: It was one midwife out of many wonderful ones, and she was disciplined afterwards. It was just bad luck I got her.

Luckily todays midwife was great. I think she understood that my mental health is pretty important to how I feel about this pregnancy/giving birth etc. I'm only 7 weeks pg though so I should probably focus on the scan on Monday, not worry about giving birth which is months away!

BartletForAmerica · 27/04/2012 13:56

I am sure. I just worry that some people plan a home birth and then feel they have 'failed' because complications happened. I don't want people to think that I think I did it 'better' than them because I 'managed' at home.

Do let us know about the scan - we are all brooking for you!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 27/04/2012 13:59

I'm about an hour's train ride from London (plus tube time), so doable despite the fact I'm painfully shy irl. Would be happy to be facebooked coz I'm addicted to the devil's tool just PM me for my name/link/whatever? :)

I fancied the idea of a homebirth til i considered how I'd feel listening to the kid next door's xbox and wondering how he'd feel about hearing me screaming for possibly several hours Confused I came to the conclusion I'd feel more uncomfortable here than in a strange hospital! Blush

smegs I hope you're feeling a little bit better - cakes swears by those wrist band things, they might be worth a go until you can see a GP? Or you could always hit a walk in clinic if it's really bad, Nurse DH reckons they're not too busy if you go first thing in the morning.
InfestationOfLannisters :o I read book 1 and have bought 2&3; I'm taking a break while I read Hunger Games which I'm enjoying (now on book 2). I saw the film a few days ago and it's really good - Woody Harrelson made a great Haymitch, though I'm not sure about Lenny Kravitz as Cinna (he's a bit too saucy??). Can't wait to see GoT :)

Shock maybe I heard about that on the news! Any idea what it is he wants?

solars I hope last night went well! :)

Good luck cupcakes. I'd take DH for moral support, personally? I can't get over how many post HSG BFPs we've had, though - yours is bound to be en route :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 27/04/2012 13:59

Wow smegs that sounds terrible! Shock I'm glad she got disciplined.

ScrambledSmegs · 27/04/2012 14:06

Fluffy have you thought about doing hypnobirthing? Otherwise known as natal hypnotherapy. I got a CD and it was really helpful. Despite the fact that I was on mega-induction drugs and experiencing major contractions at least every minute, I managed to cope quite well with the pain by using the techniques. I was very quiet too, one midwife asked if I was a scientologist Grin

I did have an epidural eventually, but that's a whole other story :)

ScrambledSmegs · 27/04/2012 14:10

Fluffy don't be scared! Sorry if I've worried you. I didn't have a great experience, but I know many people who did have wonderful hospital births. The NHS has gone a very long way in recent years to making giving birth a much more natural and relaxed experience, if you want it that way of course.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/04/2012 14:24

Fluff I have PM'd you.

Thanks for checking on me everyone, still here! No evacuation for us, but they have evacuated the other half of the building! He is angry cos he failed his HGV license Hmm

I am also loving HUnger Games. I just need to buy book 3. I also just read the Luther novel. I love Luther. The book is so so intense, it's amazing.

Thanks for that link Bartlet, I'm off to have a look!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 27/04/2012 14:24

:o :o Scientologist Smegs! Which CD did you use? I can't afford the classes (and DH can't make it to them because of shifts) but was thinking of getting a CD.
I'm terrified, but it's not down to you Wink
