Arthur is scrummy coconut Smile Well done!!!

Sorry kittens it wasnt Mr S that said that it was the consultant I saw locally for my scan. Sorry for the confusion Blush I think if Mr S had said it I might of punched him!!

xx

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 09:47

Meant to say, there seems to be quite a growing body of thought that intralipids may be the best thing for NKCs anyway as far as I can see. I was reading up on the TNF Alpha thing that choccy mentioned she may be tested for, and several places (in the US) that I read about are using intralipids to tackle these. I hear you on the contradictory front - I'm thinking I will be getting my FSH retested privately, as obviously Mr S doesn't seem to think he needs to get it retested, he seems to have just accepted that all of a sudden I cannot get pregnant and is putting it totally down to my age. I still just can't buy that. And he takes no notice of the change in cycles and pred link (for me), but again just thinks it's all down to my age, not the steroids. But others he acknowledges issues with the pred, and tells them only to take pred from BFP. It's confusing, as you say.

Havingkittens · 15/05/2012 09:48

Ahh, that makes me feel marginally better. Although I still have my other concerns about the amount of us struggling to conceive since being on pred.

Yes, if he'd have said it it would've deserved a punch. I did think it sounded a bit barefaced!

Comedyworks · 15/05/2012 10:56

Dear All - baby Comedy (Matilda) arrived safe and well yesterday weighing 7lbs. Cannot believe she is here and can't stop staring at her. Up and about after the section but moving as though I am ninety - hopefully able to take Matilda home tomorrow.
Sending love to you all and thinking of you tomorrow Igggi x

igggi · 15/05/2012 11:04

Comedy brilliant news!

Buster76 · 15/05/2012 11:09

Congratulations comedy Smile xx

batteryhen · 15/05/2012 11:30

comedy - Fab news on the arrival of Matilda xx

ChoccyPud · 15/05/2012 11:30

Congratulations comedy!!

Kittens I've reported the thread and asked MNHQ to rename "ttc/..." this was my fault for not paying attention to the previous titles and setting it up in a emotional blind panic rush.

Will read rest of posts later so sorry if I've missed anyone this time :)

Havingkittens · 15/05/2012 11:57

Congratulations comedy. What a cute name too Smile

Thanks choccy x

mercator · 15/05/2012 11:58

Congratulations [Coconut] on the safe arrival of your lovely little boy! He looks so sweet! Lovely news to come back to.

[Comedy] hope all went well yesterday and looking forward to hearing your news. [Iggi] Good Luck for tomorrow! Will be thinking of you.

[Lemon] Whispered congrats. Lovely to see someone joining the First Trimester list.

[Snoopy] The kitten looks lovely and hopefully a good distraction. Glad all went well with the MRI and hope that the spot on your pelvis is nothing to worry about. Good luck with the start of the treatment in a week or so.

[Duggs] I think I may have missed what Mr S had to say, but wondered what his advice was before trying anything else. Not sure if the US tests would add anything at all before trying Humira etc. Just noticed the woman on Lorraine had her tests done there.

[Belly] I think we've all been there its so hard when people make announcements for me it was as though someone had punched me in the gut.

[Kittens] hope you feeling a bit better today!

[Free] Florence sounds amazing! You seem to have an amazing jet set life, something I recall having pre-child ;-) Enjoy!

Waves to everyone - sorry if I've missed anyone takes so long to catch up after a week away!

mercator · 15/05/2012 11:58

Sorry for my lack of bolds - totally forgotten how to post!

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 12:03

comedy Huge congratulations on the safe arrival of Matilda!

eurochick · 15/05/2012 12:33

Wasn't Buster's second scan with someone else though? I thought she had found someone local. So it wouldn't have been Mr S saying those things. Or maybe I am the one who is confused!

Coco baby Arthur is gorgeous.

I had a big temp rise this morning and FF has decided that I ovulated on Saturday. I hope not as I didn't have my IUI until Sunday. Saturday was day 13 and I have never oved earlier than day 14 on any unmedicated cycle (I was oving around days 12/13 on Letrozole though). I am hoping FF is just a bit confused because I had some sleepless nights over the weekend and these might have affected my temps.

eurochick · 15/05/2012 12:35

X posted with loads of people. I see the Buster point has been superseded!

Congrats on the safe arrival of Matilda, Comedy!

duggs1976 · 15/05/2012 13:02

Congrats comedy! Lovely name btw.

I hear you kittens about intrallipids. Thing is I had high nk cells not very high and still I had intrallipids, clexane and pred 40mg so even the very high failed. I've spent almost £12k on this (£7k) ivf an CGH so have no money left Sad so hydroxy is a last attempt but I have very little faith. I'm thrilled for the successes but I don't understand the logic as it seems so random which I think is why he struggles to get any trials to prove the success of the treatment as it doesn't seem to be consistent. Oh well I am saying the same thing week after week as I am so lost and bewildered that it isn't very helpful to the thread people who r positive. Wish we could sit in a room and have an info session with him collectively!! We r his experiments so that will never happen. Have lost ttc SO thread so need to find it again. . .

Coconutfeet · 15/05/2012 13:09

Hurrah! Well done comedy! Huge congratulations on the safe arrival of Matilda. Gorgeous name. It's amazing how quickly they have you up and about after a c-section. Hope you're recovering well.
Euro - I think FF can be a bit odd with its ov dates. I know I've been surprised in the past at the date its given me. You only need one slightly weird temp to totally confuse it. Fingers crossed for you anyway.

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 13:17

Here you go duggs www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1385998-TTC-Super-Ovulation?msgid=31779456#31779456 .. and so sorry you're feeling down, I do understand and it all seems so random. I know you've already spent lots on this, but have you thought about the test for "hidden" chlamydia/mycoplasma/ureaplasma? Apparently any one of these can cause miscarriages for no reason attributable to anything else. I'm looking into the hidden-C one myself, but wondering if it's worth it as DP would never do the male test and wouldn't take the antibiotics necessary if I did come up positive. Dunno whether to get tested or not. Just a thought, anyway, and hugs to you.

mercator · 15/05/2012 13:26

Comedy Huge Congratulations on the safe arrival of Matilda. Hope you make a speedy recovery from the c-section and get to go home very soon!

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 14:42

Ladies, I've just been reading one of the Fertility Friends boards and came across one lady who said:

"I found something out yesterday that surprised me, have you had your partners sperm tested? I spoke to the clinic yesterday and it was the lady there that actually does all the testing and profile , she advised me that in 50% of early before 10 wk miscarriages it's the sperm causing the problem and there is so much advice that can be given to improve and correct this. "

Now ... I just wondered, how many of your OH's have had their wrigglies tested? I asked Mr S when we first saw him if we could get my OH tested, and he was very against it. His comment was along the lines of "if he's got you pregnant 3 times, then there's nothing wrong with his sperm". Me knowing about sperm DNA fragmentation queried this, but Mr S basically said he felt there was no point in getting OH tested.

I've often since wondered, but with Mr S being against it, we've missed the boat now to get our healthcare to pay for it (they were ok with any tests needed for both me and OH to start with). And I'm a bit cross, because that will always be an unknown factor, whether there is in fact an issue with OH (as well as my own).

So were any of your OH's tested, just out of interested?

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 14:47

interest, not interested. sigh. Fingers seem to be going the way of my brain, ie muddled!

PQ77 · 15/05/2012 15:05

ari poor DH has had both the full gamut of NHS/std private tests (motility, abnormality etc) and also saw a male health specialist (a sperm doctor!) at Zita West who sent his sample to New York for something whizzy.

DH did have a higher than usual % of chromosome issues BUT the doctor said this could be improved by cutting down alcohol to just two standard drinks a week (preferably red wine, not spirits) and good quality supplements, incl zinc. (there you go - we paid £1000 for that advice and you can have it for free Grin)

DH followed this advice - naturally he paid more attn to the Dr than to me (who had been harping on at him for a year)...

Love the photo coconut and many congrats comedy!!! Great news day on that front. xxx

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 15:14

Grin PQ thanks ... the doctor said you could improve chromosomal issues with less alcohol/supplements? That's interesting. Well I have DP on Wellman Conception tablets and selenium (he doesn't know he's taking the Wellman tablets, but as I usually buy his multivits for him anyway, he doesn't question what's in his vitamin tub .. !), and he mostly only drinks 1 to 2 pints (beer, not wine!) in a week, so hopefully that might help any issues he might have that we don't know about. Half of my problem is that he doesn't want to be tested, so it's not as if he backed me up when I asked Mr S if he should be tested!

Know what you mean about them believing the 'officials' more than their own OHs ... OH was horrified when I dared to question what I'd been told by Mr S! :)

Arianrhod · 15/05/2012 15:15

Hmm I meant "less alcohol/extra supplements" ... the way I wrote it, I'm suggesting less supplements! Doh ...

PQ77 · 15/05/2012 16:27

ari on the chromosome thing I am not explaining very well am I...

  • we have both had karotyping (blood test) and only I had a slight issue
  • damaged sperm can create chromosomally damaged embroyos => a suprisingly small amount of alcohol can damage sperm + some supplments can help protect sperm from such damage.

Hmm...still not very convincing - guess my passing on the advice is no substitute for the £££ doctor after all!!

At any rate, sounds like your DH is living like a Puritan so no need for a lifestyle change!
