See a Rat. Smack it.

Wow, how exciting to be visited by the original rat smacker! You really have started such a lovely set of threads. I have so enjoyed reading through the old threads, both the ones before I joined and since.

cakes, it is a nice name (well, I would say that Smile) but it is also quite unusual/rare. It is a name you would have heard of but I only have only ever met two people with this name.

maybe, sorry the GP appt didn't go very well. Will be Brooking that your next appt is your booking appt with MiniMaybe very soon.

sweetie, looks encouraging. Could it be implantation bleeding for you and Beedle?

Imps, why would someone email a scan to you? They do all look the same anyway. I didn't show anyone apart from DH, I don't think. I certainly didn't post any of them up on Facebook! (Talking of FB, DH has (at my request) changed my FB password so I can't be tempted to look and torture myself with new baby things over the next few days.)

Smegs, MrSmegs is a welcome addition to our smacketeers. Good on him! You totally will be pregnant before your appointment. We are on your side!

Thanks for the hugs. If you Google "rat smacking" (even without Imps), we are the top 2 results! Result No 4 is 'Americans Celebrate 'RAT-Smacking'!

ScrambledSmegs · 27/03/2012 20:03

and at aubers. Nice to see you, I followed your thread from the start, till we were ready to admit we were already TTC.

TheLittleFriend · 27/03/2012 20:37

aubers i'm so glad you came back to tell us you'd had a little girl, congratulations Thanks. These threads have bought so much encouragement, wisdom and laughter to me. Thank you for having that moment of exasperation, which bought these threads to life.

bartlett I'm so sad to hear you've had to endure more unnecessary pain, and from the insensitivity of a friend makes it particularly horrible. I hope you're feeling ok this evening.

maybe what a shame that your gp wasn't more helpful. Years ago I changed gp to one a friend recommended, and I was so pleased I did it. Maybe worth considering if yours is always like that?

scrambled, glad your still lurking, but totally understand your lack of brooking atm. How lovely that your dh is so positive though.

I am jolly well going to get pregnant this month and I am brooking no argument!

Pops Yay for little kernal, fabulous news Grin

Bartlet Hugely insensitive of your friend to choose to use your DDs name Shock, not to mention unimaginative! I'm not surprised you were shocked and upset! Thanks for linking the old threads, I shall be off for a read in a bit.

Maybe Sorry to hear that Gp was useless, running sounds like a great distraction and that BFP will be just round the corner you mark my words!

Waves at Aubers, thanks so much for starting the best thread on MN. Congratulations on the birth of your little daughter too Thanks

Imps Great news about your friend's scan, but really why would she feel the need to email it to you?! This was the FB status of one of my updiffed acquaintances yesterday ..they say finding the perfect buggy is like falling in love..when you know, you just know..tonight, I fell in love!!! WTF!! It took all my self control not to comment! I have had to block her for fear of my self control failing when she posts her next f*ing irritating post!

Stasi and Generic thanks for your comments about the age gap thing. I did have a lovely time with my nephew today and him and DS were lovely together but you are both right - the age gap that I end up having will be fine Smile Same goes for you Generic, it will be much easier to look after DC2 when DD is at pre-school, silver linings indeed! Stasi I hope work is better tomorrow, annoying colleagues are no fun at all!

Well my pre-op assessment screen discovered that I am MRSA +ve (not a surprise at all in my line of work!) So I have a 5 day course of antimicrobial hair/body wash and ointment to poke up my nose 3x day! The wash has played havoc with my fake tan, I look like I've got vitiligo! And it's not giving me "because I'm worth it" hair either Grin Oh the glamour!

GreenOlives · 27/03/2012 21:02

P.s Beedle, Sweetie and Maybe Still brooking hard for you 3! Grin

GenericDietCola · 27/03/2012 21:21

Wow! Aubers was here with her little newborn and I missed her! Thank you for popping in - I think we needed your brooking spirit. I lurked on followed the first thread, but was still bleeding from my mc at the time, so I think I posted on the 2nd one. I have loved these threads - they always move me and cheer me up in equal measure!

Biscuits you are my hero. That is all.

Beedle, Sweetie and Maybe I am brooking for you all too! Maybe your dr was very unhelpful but I agree that (1) you should do a project such as running and (2) you will be pregnant before the three months are up because you are brooking no argument. And I am brooking no argument too.

Smegs nice to see you but sorry you are finding it all so hard. I love that your DH is a brooker!

Right - I'm off to conceive my second child.

BeedleTheBard · 28/03/2012 06:31

Hmm, temp dropped again this morning and another wipe of red/brown stuff but then no more. I do feel a bit crampy so i'm fairly sure she might be on her way. But in the spirit of brooking, she's not here yet and my books are still sore.

Hope everyone has a good day today

Imps7 · 28/03/2012 06:43

Morning!

Olives I laughed out loud at this - ..they say finding the perfect buggy is like falling in love..when you know, you just know..tonight, I fell in love!!! - WTactualF??? Who exactly says that finding the perfect buggy is like falling in love?? Weirdos!!

Generic excellent work on conceiving your second child last night. You are blooming already! Hope the morning sickness has stayed away so far.

Bartlet, great idea to stay away from FB. It's a surefire way to inflict unnecessary pain on yourself. My friend who had a serious case of first-person-to-have-ever-been-pregnantitis has now had her second child and is now suffering from a serious case of first-person-to-have-ever-been-a-mum-of-twoitis. The moaning! My god, anyone would have thought someone had inflicted this situation on her as some sort of punishment. Does my head in, it does.

Had a very nice evening out with our 12 week scan friends last night (although ate waaaaay too much). But... I think my OH really struggled with their news. He didn't say congratulations to them when he arrived, and only mentioned something about it when we were leaving, then when we got home he looked quite sad and had a sex fail. It has suddenly dawned on me that he may be finding TTC emotionally harder than I am - I have never ever ever seen him be so uncomfortable about saying congratulations about a pregnancy (and god knows we've had enough announcements in our time!). Bless him, I hope he's okay and I bloody well hope we don't have a sex fail tonight - I still don't think my egg has popped (we're on CD19 now!)

Right, I'm off to, well, I don't know - it's only 6:40. I may stay in bed for a bit longer!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/03/2012 08:05

Morning all!

imps your poor OH. I don't we think give them any credit do we. But then they always act like they're fine Grin I'm sure there will be no failures tonight

Beedle it aint over till its over Wink

Generic how did conception go last night Grin

Bartlet I'm considering leaving facebook, so many people annoy me on there. I hope you are feeling ok today after your rollercoaster day yesterday

Thank you again to everyone for their kind words yesterday. I'm not feeling as sad today. Went for a run last night and it helped. I'm so so tired today, would very much like to go back to bed! Temps up again this morning, but still no sore boobs

GenericDietCola · 28/03/2012 09:13

Oh Imps it's hard for them isn't it? I thik my DH may be getting quite upset about it too, but we don't talk about it. He is of the school of thought that there's no point talking about problems as talking doesn't change the facts.

Beedle I am still brooking for you!

Maybe still sounding good for you and glad you are feeling a bit better.

Conception went very well last night. Just waiting for pee stick confirmation and then a baby - simple as that!

whimsicalname · 28/03/2012 09:19

Morning all.
I'm a bit tired after my combined knitting and drinking birthday celebration last night with lots of lovely ladies. The last one didn't leave til nearly midnight. Midnight I tell you. On a school night!

I have been reading, but no time for posting really, and now inevitably I've forgotten everyone's news.

Sorry your GPappt wasn't promising maybe. Loving the idea of falling in love with a buggy olives. A woman in mothercare once told me that really the only effective way to transport 2 children was with a nanny. Perhaps to make the cost of a double buggy seem less in comparison.

imps half way through your penultimate week. You must be down to single figures by now. Are you notching the days on your desk like a prisoner?

beedle that's just annoying - AF should either come or (ideally) go. Hanging about dropping hints is just uncalled for.

On that note, I've got a bit of a confession: my AF hasn't actually turned up yet. I had a pink smear on Sunday, which usually means I have about 24 hours to go. But we're up to 72, so not entirely sure what's going on. This still isn't my longest cycle (35 days) but getting close.

I'm tempted to POAS, but don't want the disappointment of a bfn, so am delaying. Also, last month I was all set with my stick unwrapped, pulled down my pants and realised immediately that the stick was unnecessary. So I put it back in the box in the marmalade cupboard. I wonder if it's still working?

Off to the dentist in a tick. Hope everyone is ok.

Imps7 · 28/03/2012 09:22

Generic you have very succinctly summarised the baby making process:

  1. Conception;
  2. BFP;
  3. Baby.

What could be easier than that? You should patent your foolproof plan and sell it to couples TTC - you'd earn a fortune! Glad you can tick the first step off your to do list for this week!

Glad you're feeling a bit better Maybe and that Project Running has got off to a flying start. I've just started Operation Svelte Gorgeousness here - I weigh 3.1kg (which is about 6lb I think) more than I did this time last year and it's NOT ON. So by my birthday in July I shall jolly well be 3.1kg lighter and I am brooking no argument!

OH is not a problem sharer either which really frustrates me. All I can do is give him cuddles and tell him I love him and that everything will be okay in the end but I wish I could do more for example grow a baby. Oh well, what doesn't kill us will make us stronger!

Right, time to sit at my desk pretending to look busy all day. 7 days to go peeps!

"Could the pink smear be a bit of implantation bleeding?" Could? Could?? I'll have you know Sparks that it most definitely IS a bit of implantation bleeding! WOO HOO COME ON WHIMS!! Shove that stick in a ramekin of urine and tell us the good news!

Sparks you too are also definitely pregnant. You'd best rush out quick and get yourself stocked up on those newfangled maternity clothes - you'll be needing those pronto.

Imps7 · 28/03/2012 09:49

(Oh, just to get OH in the mood for tonight I've just emailed him with a cervical mucus update. I think he appreciates these sorts of gestures.)

shinyblackgrape · 28/03/2012 09:52

It's the final countdown! La la la la la la la - that's for you Imps! Although you wouldn't thank me if you heard my singing voice. Dh told me to stop singing the other day as he was worried it would scare the baby.

Your OH sounds like my DH. Not much you can do but listen when they want to speak and do big hugs when they don't.

Yes whims - I want to know re the marmalade cupboard too! Fingers crossed when you do do poas.

bartlet - agree that Facebook is the work of the devil and for some is just really a boasting tool. Very sorry re your friend too - she's a bit of a tool as well. Hope AF keeps away too

stasi - nice to see you back! Keeping everything crossed for you.

sparkle - sorry re the thrush but clearly a sign of being upduffed so you'll just have to put up with it!

generic - well done with the shagging!

maybe - well done with the running. Much impressed. X

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/03/2012 09:55

Sparks I love the fact that I am not the only one that picked up on Whims' marmalade cupboard!! I agree though, pink smear=implantation bleed Grin When are you confirming the obvious Whims? You birthday sounded amazing!

Where are you in your cycle Sparks? I didn't even mention the long cycle to the GP, as I know it is because I ov'd late. 10 DPO and counting here.

Things that concerened me slightly about the GP (I didn't see my favourite GP, she had no appointments) were 1. She didn't know what 3 day bloods were. I had to explain. 2. She told me there was nothing DH could take/do to ensure decent sperm quality. 3. Didn't even ask about drinking/smoking/lifestyle. 4. That an egg can live for 72 hours. WTF?

Oh, and Sparks that thrush is most def due to the fact you are preggo.

Generic I too love your TTC plan. I can feel a trip to Dragon's Den coming on.... Grin

Imps I feel I can join you on operation svelte. I don't weigh myself (whenever I run properly, I out weight on, as my legs turn into trunks) but I can go by clothes. This can be a 3 month project, which will og course go out the window, as we shall be diffed.

Whim you are pregnant, my dear. It's almost not worth bothering with the formality of the test.

Imps I'm glad you like my plan - if only all the TTCers knew it was as simple as that! Maybe I should write a book 'Generic's 3 point plan to smacking that rat'.

Sparks you are definitely pregnant with such concrete symptoms as oral thrush. I mean, have you ever had that before? No. That's because you are now pregnant.

I think I am starting to show.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/03/2012 10:21
shinyblackgrape · 28/03/2012 10:41

maybe - I'm fine. Thanks for asking. Feeling very weird. Slightly sicky but with strange food aversions. For the last two days, I have subsisted on birds eye potato waffles and snickers ice cream bars. Neither of which I ever eat normally. Waffles must be done in the toaster as under the grill makes me think of bacon and feel funny. Dh is Hmm. Have been taking vitamin pill every day but really not ideal.

Current mentalling issue is concern that corpus luteum thing that produces progesterone etc is going to die and will have a miscarriage. Thankfully as I go to sleep at 8:30 every night, I don't have much time for googling!

I bet you wish you had never asked now!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/03/2012 10:55

Oh Shiny I am willing to have a bet that that corpus luteum is just fine, and pumping out all the progesterone minigrape needs. When is your scan?
