See a Rat. Smack it.

OP posts:
Imps7 · 27/03/2012 16:03

Friend just emailed me through her scan picture. I will jolly well have a picture like that of my own in 10 weeks and I am brooking no argument.

I'm jolly well not going to email it to anyone though - how annoying is that when you're TTC?

Imps7 · 27/03/2012 16:28

Maybe you should be in your GP appt now (or just out of it) - please come and update us...

GenericDietCola · 27/03/2012 16:30

Oh Bartlet I am incensed on your behalf - how could they do that knowing it was the name you had chosen for your DD? That is beyond insensitive. Have an un-MN hug.

Imps I agree with the weirdness of sending scan pics - why?! Nobody is interested in someone else's baby's scan picture! You will jolly well have a scan picture in 10 weeks and I am brooking no argument for you too (btw have you laid your egg yet?).

Stasi your posts are always so lovely. Your colleagues are silly billys, but at least it gives you more time for MN!

I am brooking for all the brookers! I remember those early threads and that rat smacking quote. When I feel down about all of this I think of people like Ninja and Biscuits who tried for ages and eventually got their bump/bundle of joy respectively. We will get there too brookers, sometimes the journey is long, but it makes it worth it in the end.

Just for good measure:

I am jolly well going to get pregnant this month and I am brooking no argument!

Imps7 · 27/03/2012 16:39

I am jolly well going to lay my egg today Generic if the copious amount of pant snot is anything to go by. OH and I had a jolly good shag last night and will jolly well have another one tonight. I am poised for rat smacketing as though I were in Aubers' post.

ScrambledSmegs · 27/03/2012 16:43

Bartlet that is awful! I'm so Shock at your friend, how insensitive Sad

Maybe Sorry about the BFN today, hopefully the next pee stick won't be defective.

Sorry about the rubbish lurking everyone, but I'm finding TTC talk a bit of a struggle right now (obvious reasons). Our appointment with the consultant isn't for another 3+ weeks and I feel like I'm treading water until then. DH still thinks we'll get a BFP before the appointment, bless him, I really hope he's right. Clearly he's a natural rat-smacker :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/03/2012 16:51

Bartlet I am so so sorry about your friend. I can't believe how insensitive they have been. I just don't know how you are so strong through all this

Smegs I hope your appointment brings you the good news you deserve. But your DH is right, you *will be upduffed by then.

Imps was it you saying about look at the old smackers thread to see where they are now? The sad thing is, I was on that original thread [woe is me emoticon] Wink

GP was utterly useless smacketeers. Told me to wait another 3 months (something about the policy being 16-18 months) and to 'relax' FFS. Needless to say, I don't feel all that relaxed right now. And she wouldn't look at my back, as would only let me have 1 complaint/appointment. Even though I was in and out in 5 mins Angry

So sorry for being so me me me today. I will snap out of it, honest guv

ScrambledSmegs · 27/03/2012 17:06

Oh Maybe, that really sucks. Is there any chance you can go private, or is that really expensive? And 'relax'? Hmm I'll show her bloody relaxed [anger]

That was definitely not a 'me me me' post, btw!

ScrambledSmegs · 27/03/2012 17:06

Oops. Angry There you go!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 27/03/2012 17:09

That's a bit rubbish maybe, I usually go in with a list! Wink And I'd bet money the receptionist would only let you book 1 appointment at a time?? Hmm
Tbf it's 16-18 months in our pct too (not that that really helps - it's still shite, but it's not abnormally shite) - well, it's actually 24, but they sneak you in early while you have bloods and an HSG and wait for your fertility specialist appointment, as there's a 3-4 month waiting list iyswim. Definitely don't think you'll need an appointment by then, though :)

Oh dear Imps, not what you need after the christening debacle Hmm Good luck with the pant snot, get smacking!

:( smegs. I think DH is right, though - and I also think it's healthy to have a mental break from TTC once in a while, as it really can get a bit much. Big

Biscuitsandtea · 27/03/2012 17:10

Bartlet - I am a bit Shock at your friend. You always seem so strong about everything though - I'm in awe of you

Maybe - Angry at your GP. Seriously they should be instantly struck off for telling someone who is ttc to 'relax' FFS! There isn't any other medical complaint where they could get away with telling you to effectively ignore it Confused. And how silly to not look at your back if it wasn't going to go over your 10 minutes. Meh!

Imps I also don't get why people email scan pics Confused. I just don't really want to see other people's - it's like looking at my parents holiday photos (which they are never in Hmm). I understand sharing the news but really the pic itself is one of those things that is really only of interest to immediate family I think?

Generic - I have to confess that a little tear crept into my eye when I read why you wrote about Ninja and me trying for ages. (Not sure why? Hmm). I think maybe a mixture of thinking of all you lovely ladies still fighting the fight, and a realisation that I do in fact have DS2 now!

i truly believe all of you brookers will get there. Look at popcorn too - a year's hard work to get to today's scan loveliness. I can't quite believe that we finally have Ethan after all that ttc trouble. I do think though that when you get your win, you'll fully appreciate how hard you've worked to get there.

Imps7 · 27/03/2012 17:13

Angry Maybe. I swear that some GPs make a rod for their own back with their seemingly increasing practice to use valuable appointments to tell patients to "come back in [x] weeks' time if there's still no change" - and not just TTC related stuff either. If they spent appointments giving decent advice/treatment, there wouldn't be the need for the follow-up would there?

Anyway, right, well if that's the game she wants to play then so be it. The next three months will fly by and you can go and see her and DEMAND a referral, along with a stern ticking off for wasting your time. Can you give yourself a 3 month long project to help the time pass? How about knitting something big, like an actual house or something?? Or turning Otis into a paragon of doggy obedience? Something to take your mind off this next stretch.

Re: original thread - am sorry if I made you sad by referring to it. You are 9 months closer towards your BFP than you were back then - it's progress, even though it doesn't feel like it at the moment.

Smegs, I second your DH!

cakes82 · 27/03/2012 17:15

Thats just a tad unfair of your friend Bartlett It might be a nice name but even so,,,

Maybe how annoying, obviously someone who has had life easy, or forgotten what its like, or hasn't got there yet depending on age. Can you try a different GP?

allhailtheaubergine · 27/03/2012 17:18

Hello Rat Smacketeers.

I recognise a few names, but I think most of you have joined the thread since I left. I've been meaning to pop back on. About 9 months and 3 weeks ago, out of pure frustration and exasperation, I started a thread to say that I would bloody well be getting pregnant this month and I was brooking no argument about it. Well, I did get pregnant that month. And now I am writing this with a 3 week old little girl asleep on my shoulder.

I dropped out of the thread after a while, but every time I see you guys in Active Conversations I send a wave of good luck your way. I had no idea the thread would take off like it did, and I am glad to see No Arguments continue to be Brooked, and that the rats are still being given a very hard time in the spirit of the original thread.

I wish absolutely nothing but a BFP for each and every one of you, and a sweetly sleeping baby on your shoulder 9 months from now.

Good luck and all the best xx

Biscuitsandtea · 27/03/2012 17:20

Aubers I think your thread got me pg too Grin (DH seems convinced he had something to do with it too Hmm) and I hope you're enjoying your 3 week old as much as I am mine Smile.

Congratulations Chief Brooker Thanks

McPopcornMouseNFries · 27/03/2012 17:25

Omg, the mythical aubers! We are not worthy

McPopcornMouseNFries · 27/03/2012 17:26

Threads? Posts!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/03/2012 17:29

Oh Aubers it's so lovely to see you! And congratulations on your little girl. If it weren't for you starting this thread, I would have officially lost the plotmore than I already have

Thank you for all your kind words brookers. DH has informed me that I will be pregnant by then, so it won't matter anyway. I think I am going to get properly back into my running as my project!

BeedleTheBard · 27/03/2012 17:41

Now I have time to catch up Grin

pops excellent news on the scan, glad you haven't been imagining everything Grin and hurry for little kernel with the waving arms and legs

far and shiny I'm booking that your scans will be fine

maybe I can't believe your Gp, don't they have to follow NICE guidelines that say max 12months (obviously as i don't live in England any longer I maybe talking out of my bottom) grrr and double grrr

biscuits you're so lovely, here's a hug for when you feel you might need it (())

imps what is it with everyone's friends being so rubbish ( though I am assuming they didn't have the christening in the soft play place immediately before/after the party Hmm ) and actually why shouldn't people without children (yet) want to go to a soft play party, I've been with my nieces and had great fun. Immature? Me? Never

So I haven't had any more brown stuff today, plenty of knicker checking though. I'm swapping between feeling really optimistic, or feeling that it can't possibly be true and that the spotting is just a new way for my body to mentally torture me ( plus wishing that I'd brought some peesticks with me)

i am jolly well pregnant this month and I'll brook no argument

BeedleTheBard · 27/03/2012 17:43

I take so long to type I missed the royal visit Shock [curtsey]

SweetieDoesIt · 27/03/2012 18:08

Bartlett I am so shocked by the thoughtless act of your so called friend, I can not imagine why they would not be able to see how much this hurts you.

Maybe I am so sorry your GP was so unsympathetic to you situation. I can not believe how much they vary. I think you should all join my practice where they are all lovely sometimes a bit clueless but still lovely

Pop so pleased to hear you are now a SEPP (scan endorsed pregnant person), it must have been very emotional for you and DH. It was nice the person doing it was sympathetic to the time these things take. Maybe she was a MNer.

Imps a bloke colleague emailed me his baby scan, but he is lovely and he was so excited. His wife has gone into labour today - I am soooooo excited for them, even though I have never met his DW. But normally I don't think it is appropriate and even less so now we are TTC. Proper brooking that we all have our own scan photos in no time at all - so there!!!

Big hugs to Smegs hope you are ok my dear.

Aubers kind words brought I tear to my eye, even though we have never "met" obviously I am over emotional today

I am not sure what my body is doing apart from playing tricks on me which aren't funny but I am still in the game ladies. My chart has picked up and the spotting is almost none existent now. Does anyone else just wish AF would arrive and put you out of your misery?

Imps7 · 27/03/2012 18:20

Come on Sweetie! Come on Beedle! And you Maybe! YOU ARE NOT OUT OF THE GAME!!! COME ON GIRLS!!! COME OOOOONNNNNN!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 27/03/2012 18:25

By the way Aubers we have a brooking post natal thread (to along with the ttc and ante natal ones) should you be in need of any baby related brooking Smile

BeedleTheBard · 27/03/2012 19:18

Actually imps, I've decided that aubers is either:
a. Psychic and therefore knew we were talking about her
b. Doing a search each day for the words aubergine and rat-smacking

Grin
Imps7 · 27/03/2012 19:22

Haaaa I just Googled "Imps rat smacking" and this thread was top of the results Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 27/03/2012 19:53

TBH Imps I'm surprised it wasn't a Googlewhack!
