I'm sure that whole stretch mark thing is genetic - nothing you do really makes a difference. Also, I say no stretch marks for me but there could be all sorts lurking below my bump - I've not seen down there for quite a while.

Free - I've had to stop taking my iron tablets for a while because of the appalling constipation. That was even while only taking one of the prescribed three a day and despite eating loads of prunes/apricots etc. Something that does seem to help a bit though is to take a tablespoon of linseed (I bought the golden stuff) washed down with loads of water before eating. It might be worth stocking up just in case.

igggi · 29/03/2012 22:11

Oh Coconut, just jumping in as I was prescribed a 3 times a day dose of iron - thought I was getting away with taking 2 but GP said my last blood results were low and I have to take three - I just can't! Have bought some liquid iron and am hoping - though the dosage is less - that it will be absorbed better.
Haven't done anything re stretch marks, I think as someone who's lost and gained weight a lot my skin is already really stretchy! Been getting a lot of super-strong movements today, quite sore, trying not to think this is a bad sign too! Off to read more of thread..

Coconutfeet · 30/03/2012 08:13

That's interesting Igggi. I've been substituting with Spatone but not sure whether it's going to be enough. Still really tired, so maybe it's not doing the trick. I really just needed a break from the agony of constipation - I've actually been crying about it all! I think I need to ask if my gp can prescribe me some stronger liquid iron - I've read on here that it's possible but they don't like doing it because it's more expensive.

freelancegirl · 30/03/2012 08:24

OOh thanks for all the info on cream and bump stretching etc. That's really handy.

Iggi I am with you with the stretchy skin too. Having put on a lot of weight quickly with the thyroid problem and then lost it, even though I did get a fat-free stomach at one point it definitely was not a roll-free stomach due to the skin having been stretched. I think now though I am reaching the point of going past the thyroid stretch. Although I am not yet ay my heaviest thyroid weight which is good.

I can relate to that Coconut. In the early stages I had pain so bad I would have to wait until DH was out of the house to try to go to the loo as I would want to scream! Good practise for birth maybe... I was trying breathing exercises and everything. And, I know this doesn't make sense, but you worry it is harming the baby. Or going to push it out! So I really don't want to go back there. I've been prescribed two a day so will start and see how I get on and make sure I stock up on some good food stuff and linseeds.

I do already have stretch marks on my thighs (pre-preg) and my mum doesn't have any. But then I have a strange ethnic mix and can never really predict who I am going to take after.

Digi we're keeping a close eye on you!

Right, I have a busy day again so am off, have been out to dinner for the last three nights too! Just so many people we haven't seen for a while due to my hibernation and it seems they have all had enough and we need to see them. Then Brighton tomorrow and Spain on Sunday. Hurrah! Am taking work with me though, if that makes you all feel any better :)

igggi · 30/03/2012 08:49

Have you both tried lactulose for the constipation? It's not as good as stuff you get when not pg, but does help.

freelancegirl · 30/03/2012 09:01

I haven't, no. But it has been ok for me since stopping the Progesterone really. I will write it down though for reference when these iron tablets start to kick in!

Coconutfeet · 30/03/2012 09:14

Free - There's a hypnobirthing breathing exercise that they recommend you practice on the toilet, so at least I feel I've been getting my practise time in! But it's been bloody awful. I've had to wait for a good programme to come onto Cebeebies so I can stick ds in front of it while I do my stuff! I know exactly what you mean though, I've been seriously worried about doing myself or the baby an injury...

Igggi, can I just buy lactulose over the counter or do I need to see the doctor for it?

freelancegirl · 30/03/2012 09:38

Just a bit of list house-keeping avoiding work

I've taken the liberty of adding London but don't know your details. Please post and I will add them! And all of you, of course update it if you spot anything I am missing or have anything else to add. If you do it on the same day it's been updated you don;t have to add any dates, if you update tomorrow you have to add one day to everyone on the BFP lists (two days if it's two days later etc etc). Easy when you know how so dig in :)

Choccy - how are you getting on - got a scan date yet? Hope you're feeling ok!

duggs1976 · 30/03/2012 11:35

Hey lads Wink hope all is well? Just hot back from my egg collection. Was fairly ok the sedation drugs were what Michael Jackson was addicted to ( I can see why ) felt like a large superb G&T to take the edge off. They got 19 eggs. I find out tomorrow if any get fertilised and Monday if any r any good. After more than 30 mths ttc and 3 mc im being pretty realistic about this. I just need 1 or perhaps 2 to be ok please Grin back home now waiting for DH to bring me a hot cross bun as no food since last night so been fantasising about them after seeing m&s add on tv. Hope you all ok xx

digitalgirl · 30/03/2012 11:50

Wow - 19 eggs is really very good duggs. I know another mn'er only got 8 and 5 of those fertilised. She had two put back, although only one was top grade, and she's currently 30-something weeks pg with a very happy singleton. So yes - you just need one, and you have a very good chance of getting that.

free only 4 days away from viability! So excited for you!!! Bet your parents will be so thrilled to see that little bump of yours. Has DH felt any of the kicks yet?

Have been watching the birds in the garden building their nests Smile. Supposed to be updating my cv while I still have a brain...

PQ77 · 30/03/2012 11:53

duggs that is fantastic!!! Wow! And like you say, you only need one...

igggi · 30/03/2012 11:56

Oh, fingers crossed Duggs! Smile
Lactulose - I was once told by a pharmacist I couldn't have it when pg, then so on a thread lots of women having it prescribed by GP so I asked a different pharmacist - who recommended it and gave me it no problem. It's the only laxative you can have while breastfeeding too.

Coconutfeet · 30/03/2012 13:01

Oh Duggs - Really excited for you. It sounds like your chances are pretty high. So, when do they put it/them back if they are good?

Igggi - Thanks so much for the tip. I went to the chemist and got some lactulose. There's a warning on the packet about being careful in the first three months so they were happy for me to take it. I've just had some - it's disgusting, isn't it!

snoopygirl · 30/03/2012 13:08

Brilliant Duggs can't wait for more news and still cant' believe how quick this has all happened for you!

duggs1976 · 30/03/2012 13:16

Tuesday if I have a decent embryo. It sounds like I have a good chance but no egg has ever worked for me before so there is a chance we won't have one. Fingers crossed Smile any other news on the thread?

GreenOlives · 30/03/2012 13:23

Brilliant news Duggs Grin

Dunnitt · 30/03/2012 14:52

duggs I am on clexane, 1 20mg injection a day. I have been taking it since I had my pos test (so thats 9 wks now). I asked the clinic on Wednesday and they said that I could be on it all the way through the pregnancy unless my NKC and CD19 cells go down enough. I have had some horrendous bruising with. I find that if I keep it away from the band of my trousers/skirt and don't move around afterwards (so that top doesn't rub on the area) its not too bad.

You do get used to them. And compared to the 2 inch needles I had for the progesterone injections they are a doddle!

Dunnitt · 30/03/2012 15:17

Hi everyone.

Just updating the list as at wk 14 (and a successful scan on Wednesday) I'm hoping I'm safe to put myself into 2nd trimester. On the not so good news my NKC are still high and other cellds (CD19 + CD5) which have never been mentioned to me before have rocketed so had to have another lengthy and ££££ IVIG session at the clinic on Wednesday. I was hoping I was done with all that, but apparently this could go on monthly throughout the whole PG.

duggs I am in awe at your prolific egg-laying capabilities :) :) Surely given those numbers you must get a good number of healthy fertilised eggs, let us know as you know results please, if you don't mind?

dunnit congrats on reaching 2nd trimester! Can I ask, why are you not taking steroids for your NK cells? Do they not agree with you, or is there some other reason? I know IVIG is supposed to be extremely effective, but also extremely costly!

OP posts:
eurochick · 30/03/2012 15:40

That's great news duggs. You are a champion egg layer!

Ladies, what do we think about amending the list so we merge the two ttc categories? I find it a bit discouraging to keep having to move between waiting to test and waiting to ovulate month after month. I'm up and down like a prossie's knickers! I'm actually in the "waiting to test" phase now, but I haven't bothered to move myself because I don't usually test and after 17 cycles there is really nothing to get excited about with testing anyway (so I don't really want people asking me when I am due to test). What do others think?

I can't remember if I mentioned it on this thread, but I have LOVED being off the superov drugs this month. I have felt like myself for the first time in ages. I didn't realise how crap I was feeling until I wasn't any more, iyswim. I'm moving on to an (unmedicated) IUI cycle next month, after putting off IVF for a little while.

ChoccyPud · 30/03/2012 16:48

Afternoon all. What a glorious day.

I'm doing good thanks free. Two milestones of my three this week duly ticked off, Weds and today (anniversary of mmc scan). I wish my brain didn't automatically recall dates like that :(. Anyway,

Having had two awful nights' sleep earlier in the week, and taken the following day off sick, I spoke to my boss on Weds ( from my bed!) to update him and explain the combination of worry about my dad on top of the usual early pg stress isn't doing me any good partic with the Pred affecting my sleep. He's agreed that while this is all going on, I can start a bit earlier, then come home early afternoon for a nap then pick up work from home to finish off the day. Told the team yesterday and they were lovely and supportive. Was very touched (and a bit teary obv...). So, I've just had my nap, am feeling refreshed and thought I'd check in before getting back to work :)

duggs that sounds like a great start and can't wait to see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Congrats on second trimester Dunnit

Digi I think someone asked but have you sorted dh out to be able to give us the news as and when???

Right, better get on with some work now... :)

batteryhen · 30/03/2012 20:33

Hello everyone :)

duggs that sounds like a fab amount of eggs! There has to be a mini duggs in there! Good luck xx
euro I agree on the list x there are also people on the list who have been MIA for a long time...don't know what we should do with that??
Constipation ..... I am not too bad but definitely not as regular as normal. I also worry I am going to pop the baby out!!

My news is that we had our 20 week scan today. All good news and we are so thrilled to finally get to this stage :) xxxx

Abney · 30/03/2012 21:19

Hi, I haven't posted on this thread yet but I thought I would also add that I have been taking pred on and off since 2008. The only side effects I have had is moonface and waking up at 4 am in the morning. I quite liked it as I got a lot of work done. Moon face I can live with. Everyone tells you that you haven't got a fat face but you can tell from photos that you have Smile I have not been on pred since last MC and have only just started taking them again. Can't get up for love nor money at the moment. Knackered. Not because of pred but the lack of them Grin

digitalgirl · 30/03/2012 23:05

battery yay for good 20 week scan Grin!!!!!

abney welcome to the thread. [noseyface] How come you've been on pred for so long (albeit on and off)?

euro agree re: ttc list-merging, it doesn't always get updated.

choccy for milestones. And well done for outing yourself and scheduling in an afternoon break.

iggi!!! You made the MN talk update! You're famous!

dunnit congrats on making the leap up to 2nd trimester! But boo to more IVIG...at least they're keeping an eye on the levels though.

I'll have my iPhone (and charger) on me in hospital so will be able to update myself. Failing that am sure DH can, but I'm pretty sure I'll be recounting my birth story while it's all still fresh! Money's on an April Fool's baby now...
