Hi duggs .. I might be able to answer that for you, since I asked Mr S about clexane and how come I didn't have to take it when so many people who are homozygous for MTHFR in the US have to take clexane for that. I said it appeared to be mostly people who are doing IVF that I'd seen this used for MTHFR, and his answer was that with IVF they routinely use clexane to help with implantation. Not sure why you'd then have to take it to 12 weeks, but that was his reasoning (and why he said I didn't need clexane myself).

Good morning ladies on this lovely sunny Monday!

Ari Sorry you were feeling Sad at the weekend, I hope that AF hasn't arrived but if she does then as others have said there are still lots of options so don't despair Thanks

Free Interesting article! Don't think it will be on my "to do" list if I ever get to have DC2 though! Do you fancy it? What I am keen on doing next time round is seeing my placenta though, I never saw it after DS and I'd like to next time. I think I remember feeding that they work really well as a fertiliser so some people bury them in the garden!

Kittens Hope the follies continue to grow, I love that SWI is prescribed by Mr S!

Choccy Glad lines are getting darker and your list of milestones sounds entirely normal to me but I am mad as a box of frogs Wink

Digi You are sounding very organised, not long now until you become a family of 4!

PQ It is very rare for someone to catch CP twice even if they are immuno compromised. Do you know whether your first episode of CP was a mild or severe one? In my experience people who catch it for a second time only had a very mild dose initially resulting in inadequate immunity. FWIW CP should be easily identifiable by the GP so if their not sure about DS's rash then hopefully it's not even CP at all (could be allergic or some other viral rash).

I had a lovely time time at the wedding on Saturday. My willpower failed and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of Pimm's Shock I decided that it's really not that alcoholic and it even includes your 5 a day plus I deserve it during AF's visit Grin Had to work yesterday though which was pants, but day off in the sunshine today!

GreenOlives · 26/03/2012 09:29

reading not feeding

Arianrhod · 26/03/2012 09:36

I have to say, the thought of ingesting one's placenta really makes me feel bleugh, even if dried and encapsulated into handy vitamin form!! I know it's natural and all that, but ... well no, just not for me. :)

Olives I'm fairly sure Pimms counts as healthy, due to all that fruit. So it's almost obligatory to have some when available, isn't it?

choccy I'm definitely with you on the repeat testing, I know some might think it mad but I say, anything that gives you a little bit of peace of mind. And woohoo for those continuing darkening lines!

Here, well 12 dpo and all the usual signs of imminent AF arrival, so hoping that she sticks to her usual pattern and arrives promptly on Wed so I can go for the day 1-3 bloods on Fri. Decided will def. give SO a go if Mr S approves, figure I've nothing to lose (except ££ of course, but it's good to keep Mr S in his holiday fund, isn't it? Grin ).

Hope you're all enjoying the arrival of summer spring, and all that lovely warm sunshine.

Duggs I have to give Clexane a lot a work. Pinch a decent bit of tummy below your belly button (assuming you have a little bit to pinch, it is much more difficult on very skinny people!) and inject slowly into pinched area. Release your grip then resist all temptation to rub the area as this will increase bruising. Try not to wear anything tight/restrictive over the area as again this will increase bruising. Use different sites every day and if tummy becomes too sore you can use thighs or buttocks (would need help to inject buttocks obviously!) They are sore whatever you do though, but I hope this helps a little. x

Buster76 · 26/03/2012 09:47

Morning!!!
duggs Ive been prescribed clexane due to factor V, havent started it yet as no BFP but battery is on it if I remember? I have heard it can sting though Sad
Get well soon Ari
Cant believe how fast all the pregnancies seem to be going!!

Well I saw Mr S on Thursday, Ive never been to the NLC before - very nice! Always seen him at Harley. Quite a full on day for a 20 min appointment but glad I went. He wasnt happy with my E2 level 695 on day 1, he would like it under 200!!! He said I may need to go on the pill to regulate cycle. I told him the steroids seem to have totally messed up my cycle, he said this was very unusual....typical!! Louise took some more blood and he told me to take a month off the steroids.
He called me after i had finished work on Friday which I thought was very nice of him Smile My bloods he took were much better E2 125 FSH 7.5. He said I could start the super ov if I wanted after my month off the steroids. Just rang Louise and she is going to send me a prescription! It means more trips to Epsom £££££, I'll be able to get shares in the national rail!!!!

Happy Monday to all xxxxxx

Arianrhod · 26/03/2012 09:52

Oh I'm just a bit behind you then buster ... interesting to hear you're going the superov route too. Mr S must be wondering where all this sudden interest in SO has come from! :) Did Mr S give you an "acceptable" range of values for FSH as well as E2? Not that I'll know what mine is for another week or more, but I'm curious.

duggs1976 · 26/03/2012 10:01

ari ahh do knowledgable thank you. I feel less resentful sticking it in me now. Good luck on the SO sign off. Yes his holiday fund should be sending him on me Bransons moon voyage it should be that healthy Wink

duggs1976 · 26/03/2012 10:02

Ahh having such an issue with my letters on this iPhone. So, do, if, it apologies !Blush

Havingkittens · 26/03/2012 10:06

buster, you could have your follicle scan done locally and get the data sent to Mr S. Mr S charges something around £100 to check the information and call you with instructions but if you can find someone locally to do your scan at a reasonable price it may work out better for you than all that travelling.

PQ, I can't offer much advice on CP I'm afraid so I will just answer your question to me. I think if you decided to have a keratin treatment it should be with a decent salon who uses the recommended products, and also the right advice for the client rather than just trying to make a bit of money. I got mine through Groupon and it was in a somewhat shabby salon in Acton. My hair is very fine and a lot of bits at the front snapped off Sad. My friend, who had very bleached/damamged hair was told by a salon that if she had it done hers would snap off due to the intense heat used to seal the product, so she didn't have it done. I think it's great for some people. My best mate had hers done and loved it, but she has quite thick hair. The other thing to consider is that the steroids and various other meds (as well as the normal changes that pregnancy causes!) can change the hair's texture and way it reacts. My granny had a perm a few years ago when she was on a lot of medication and it didn't go well at all!

Buster76 · 26/03/2012 10:07

I know I tried to act like I hadnt heard of it before!!
I think he said he likes FSH to be under 12 but over 3 but dont quote me on it. I think his 'acceptable' values are slightly different as the GP never asked to see me!!
Keep me posted! Smile
Hopefully we'll be lipid buddies Wink

xx

Buster76 · 26/03/2012 10:10

Thanks kittens will look in to it, could say me a fortune! x

freelancegirl · 26/03/2012 10:18

Too much to catch up on here! Clexane I can't tell you anything about but I can empathise with train journeys and expensive fares to Epsom. Gosh I hate it when there are only early appointments there too. Yes, I wonder if Mr S is aware that we all swap info here. I guess he should be pleased with it as we seem to be able to drum up quite a bit of business for him :) Buster Mr S has only phoned me once and it always feels a bit - oooh! Yes NLC is definitely nice. It must have cost them an awful lot of money though.

Hair I can empathise with too, mine has often been thin and scrappy. Thyroid problems don't help I think. Pregnancy seems to be doing it some good at the moment but I imagine it is not long lasting.

Pimms I am most jealous of. Mmm. I am pretty sure there is very little alchohol in it, and of course all that healthy fruit :) I might just treat myself to one sometime in the near future. I DID have a half a lemonade with a lager top (like a lager top but the other way around :) ) yesterday at lunch and it was very, very nice indeed. The thought of another summer without cold rose wine, Pimms, a cold bottle of beer etc etc is quite frustrating. But hopefully this time it is for a good cause, rather than the wasted sobriety of a miscarriage.

PQ I don;t think I can help either with the chicken pox except having my fingers crossed you don't get it. I think it sounds pretty rare to pick it up twice, even with the steroids. Are you starting to taper today? I remember seeing that as a real milestone in my pregnancy. And you are now 9 weeks - woo hoo! Do you have another scan booked?

I am just finishing up a bit of work at nan's then getting the train back to London in a bit. A week's work and then off to Spain to see parents for a week on Sunday. Feels like another milestone to go home to Spain as I was grounded over Christmas so haven't been there for 7 months.

digitalgirl · 26/03/2012 10:49

Morning all! I'm still pregnant.

pq sounds like it might not be CP. When I was worried about it I called my midwife. Maybe call Louise and see what her thoughts are.

Thanks for the raspberry leaf tea reminder. Might go and get some today - seeing as I'm officially Fully Cooked! Keep getting excited/nervous butterflies whenever I think about the fact that I might go into labour soon. Need to relax somehow. Picking up DS from nursery in an hour and a half so hopefully the short walk to the bus stop will help.

Hope I'm not being insensitive to those still TTC, I remember constantly being back at square one while those who'd 'only' had 1 mc seemed to be conceiving and popping babies out with no trouble at all, like the mc was merely a little blip rather than this huge recurrent hurdle to overcome. It seemed impossible at times, but I did remain optimistic that it would eventually happen.

batteryhen · 26/03/2012 10:49

duggs I take clexane for factor v and positive TEG. I have to take it until 6 weeks post natally :( - What GO said is true on how to take it. I can go for weeks without it bruising but then suddenly start bruising all over again. Today I am sporting 2 lovely bruises on each side of my tummy :( I don't think there is a way to make it sting less, but definitely no rubbing the area after injection xx
PQ I know you can get chicken pox twice if you have had only made little immunity to the first time round, however, I think it's rare. Your GP can always get some bloods done to check your immunity levels. Is it possible that the little blisters on DS are a side effect of the vaccination? If so he won't be infectious xx
Pimms mmmmm. Some people I know have a glass of wine during pregnancy but I am too terrified. However, I will look forward to my first glass once babe arrives and I am no longer breast feeding!
ari how are you feeling today?

I am keeping my fingers crossed for all those coming up to test, ov or just worrying about stuff xxxx

batteryhen · 26/03/2012 10:52

x- post with digi - Glad you are still pg - but baby can come now please!! Good on you for drinking the rasberry leaf tea. I tried it to thicken womb lining, and it was foul. I used to have to stand over the sink retching :(

igggi · 26/03/2012 12:33

Hello, been doing a lot of chickenpox research due to ds having it, I agree with saying it's unlikely to be CP if they're unsure, it is so easy to "spot" usually. They tested me for immunity and just said I had it - but presumably the test would show if you only had low amounts of anti-CP thingys in your blood rather than high. Treatment if you're not immune is to boost your immune system, so not ideal - can only have it within a short window of being exposed anyway - I would've been too late. If you've had it before you would contract a much milder version (if at all). I started talking about it with doctor convinced it meant certain death and came away very reassured.

igggi · 26/03/2012 12:35

Oh and Battery if you think that a unit of alcohol goes through your system in an hour, if you feed the baby, drink a 2-unit glass of wine, and manage to wait 3 or 4 hours before next feed, then all is well Grin. (A doctor taught me this!)

batteryhen · 26/03/2012 12:52

iggi I like your way of thinking!!

freelancegirl · 26/03/2012 13:13

Me too Iggi! I am happy holding off on the wine whilst pregnant but if/when I have a healthy baby I am going to want to reacquaint myself with the grape. Right now am lining up champagne (I figure I can go for the real deal instead of my usual cava, but happy with either!) and also sashimi! Mmm.

Sorry, as you were. Just a quick post on such an important topic from the train :)

snoopygirl · 26/03/2012 13:52

Ladies who are far down the pregnant line, about to pop! or 1st trim whatever.
We have all been there, as in the recurrent nightmare, ttc for yrs etc... Whatever the problem, I'm sure we all want to hear your stories it' gives us hope. It is hard just going round in a loop at the bottom of the list seeing others progress. But we have all been in same boat. And I for one are dead chuffed for you. It's hard for you too I'm sure as the gap gets wider and wider and you may feel a bit awkward. But you deserve to be there just as much as anyone else and to have your babies. I love all baby chat anyway.

The night I came out of hospital we put DS in bouncer, cracked the champagne and watched Celeb BB (when it was still watchable)! Those were the early days when too nervous to let him out of sight! I bet things are so different with a second child, including the odd glass of vino in pregnancy on a special ocassion.

I know what you mean Buster* I have done the same when seeing Dr S, trying to look nonchalant. Loiuse has said he knows about the post, lets hope to God he hasnt' read it after some of the things that have been said about him!

Arianrhod · 26/03/2012 14:36

I'd echo snoopy ... I may be utterly frustrated at my own body's lack of cooperation but you upduffed ladies are nothing but inspiration to me, so please do carry on with your postings.

lol snoopy I have to say I think I will be exactly as 'paranoid' with a second baby as I was with DD, I'm just built that way. I still have my baby video camera in DD's room and monitor her when she's sleeping to make sure she's ok if she's restless or makes noises - and she's 5 now! Hoping I get the chance to find out if I really am still that paranoid attentive with a second.

OP posts:
ChoccyPud · 26/03/2012 16:51

Same here :)

igggi · 26/03/2012 16:52

Ari I have just bought a 'Snuza' (breathing alarm) to monitor baby with! I think I am more aware of everything that can go wrong post-mcs than before. Tbh if it gets out of hand I will get some counselling!
I am going to start posting things to check if Mr S does indeed read thread - what would be embarassing? Those dreams Free keeps having about him? Grin

eurochick · 26/03/2012 18:36

duggs I am glad to head the IVF is going well so far. Keep us posted please! I can start very soon if I want to, but might wait for a little while. I am still struggling to come to terms with needing it, tbh, although time is ticking by. I am unsure about whether to take the Clexane injections alongside IVF. Mr S has prescribed them but I am fed up with pumping myself full of drugs and I think I will have enough with the IVF drugs. When I had my NK cell tests I requested the blood clotting tests too and they all came back absolutely normal, so I am not convinced it will help in my case. But mostly I just want to be on as few drugs as possible. Now I am having a break from superov I can really see how horrible it was making me feel. Hormonal stuff always does. Even the Pill made me fat and depressed!

I've often wondered if Mr S reads this thread. Didn't he get upset with people writing about his treatment on fertility friends and ask for posts about him to be removed? I have seen a few posts over here which seem to suggest this.

I'm teetotal at the moment in preparation for IVF and all of this wine and champagne talk is making my mouth water!
