Hurrah Bean! You are doing just fine. I've been trying that long too and it is really hard to have enough patience for this journey. I don't know how people go on for years and years, but I suppose you just move to a more relaxed approach. Of course you do know that once you stop trying you'll get pregnant!

GreenOlives · 07/03/2012 20:51

Imps I had to change the subject! Grin I have already had to explain what panty liners and tampons are to DS and he proudly relayed that new information to his Grandad Blush So I decided that the lesson about what a Pre-seed applicator is may be a step too far for a 3 year old who has verbal diarrhoea Grin

Nice to see you Bean, sorry about AF but I truly believe it WILL happen for you soon.

BeedleTheBard · 08/03/2012 05:39

olives loved the story of DS and the trumpet Grin

bean don't give up yet, and everyone else is right a 12 day LP is fine

whims your story reminded me of my first few days at university. There was a final year student a few rooms along who had an older man with her. I assumed it was her dad, when he was still hanging around a few days later I realised it was her boyfriend Blush (he wasn't good-looking though, just old-looking)

sparkle Grin at giving birth to the cadbury mini-egg. Mmm mini-eggs I want some

cupcake I'm still holding out for your BFP confirmation

Imps7 · 08/03/2012 06:49

Cupcakes any news?? Thanks for you, whatever happens.

Bean CD1 is always a total killer and affects one's ability to think anything other than emotionally. Onwards and upwards, lovely, keep on at it and it will happen.

Slightly weird temp again this morning. I think I've found the issue with the previous up and down temps - the thermometer ran out of battery this morning, after having given me a temp of 37! Used my back-up thermometer (everyone has one of those, right?) immediately afterwards which gave me 36.87. Slightly high, but more normal.

What temperature is accompanying that there snow Beedle??

OP posts:
BeedleTheBard · 08/03/2012 07:06

imps do you only have one back-up thermometer, surely everyone has 2 spares Grin

no interesting temps here, its only around freezing Grin so some of the snow is already turning slushy Sad it looks a bit like a black and white photo when I look out of the window, everywhere is just grey or white

beangrower · 08/03/2012 08:12

Generic - I'm so sorry - I know you have had a tough old time of it. My heart goes out to anyone who goes longer than 6 months, but how they do 6years or more - well, they are v brave.

I just want us all to get our happy ending SOON. please. thank. you.

Grin @ Beedle and Imps.

Olives - your LO is going to be v well informed; his girlfriend in 18 years time will be grateful. Wink

Yes - onwards and upwards all.

We are off to toddler group at the farm - tractor gazing.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Sparks you chart is looking pretty good to me - you'll see a big difference in temp once you've laid your egg!

I've just ordered another thermometer - it's a different brand this time as the one I've got previously has suddenly added a £5.01 P&P charge - the thermometer itself is only £4.99!

WHAT DO WE WANT?
Positive pee sticks!
WHEN DO WE WANT THEM?
NOW!

Morning all. Tractors sound fun bean. I'm taking my toddler to see a mortgage advisor. We have the most fun!

ScrambledSmegs · 08/03/2012 09:47

Morning everyone

I know, I know, I've been and done a vanishing trick again Blush. Sorry. My kitchen dramas took over in rl, DD getting the latest vomiting bug, DD turned 2, I'd almost given up MN in favour of getting my house into a reasonable state and re-discovering the joys of baking (am making an artichoke and goats cheese tart with polenta crust today, mmm!). Bit full-on, really, but no excuse for neglecting you all so I'm very sorry.

bean sorry to hear you're a bit wobbly. CD1 is a killer, every single time. Hope you enjoy the tractors. And (((((hugs))))))

Hello SecretSparkle, I don't think we've met, have we? I'm a sporadic poster, regular smacker! Hope AF gets the message and stays away this month.

Who's next to test? Cupcakes? Hope everyone else is well. Will do my usual catch-up read later this evening - have an electrician coming round and a full-on day.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 08/03/2012 09:52

Morning everyone!

Imps I love your organisation. I will follow suit and get a back up. But you are already diffed, so won't be needing a spare Wink

Bad dreams you say Sparks? Diffed.

Pop those weeks have flown by! So exciting.

Bean can I come ad play on the farm? It's such a nice day. Generic is right, once you stop, you will get diffed. It ca n be so bloody hard to keep positive can't it.

Olives Grin at your DS. Got to love them when they do stuff like that Grin

Whim good luck with the mortgage man

Beedle when does it start to watm up over there?

ScrambledSmegs · 08/03/2012 09:53

Oops, nearly forgot. CD23 today, no spotting, but pretty sure AF is imminent as I never normally go beyond 23 days. Feeling a bit crap anyway, boobs are sore, I'm very tired and have almost constant mild headaches and feel a bit sick a lot of the time. Sadly none of these are unusual and most are what I get just before AF barges in, especially the headaches.

Pretty sure we missed the window this month anyway, what with travelling and DD & I going to stay with parents while the kitchen was finished(ish). Ho-hum.

CupcakesAndCocktails · 08/03/2012 10:09

Smegs welcome back! Is your kitchen all sorted now? Hope your DD had a good birthday.

Bean god I hate AF, when will she get the message?! I understand your frustrations. I really want to jack it all in and forget about ttc. We have decided if when we get our baby, that we will never use contraception again. Even if we ended up getting pregnant immediately I think we would just be so grateful not to have gone through the trauma of ttc again.

Speaking of the Olympics has anyone got tickets?

I tested again this morning, it was a BFN. I've had some spotting, very small amount. I don't usually get any spotting. I'm thinking I didn't ovulate. I've started using OPKs in case I get a surge.

I've decided to give temping a go. With my new job I don't do night shifts. I do sometimes work till 1 or 2 am. I reckon on those days I can get up for my temp then go back to bed Hmm

So I need some advice, how do I go about it? Can someone tell me what time of thermometer to get? Do I have to do it fanjoly? Blush which website do I use?

PopcornMouseInBoots · 08/03/2012 10:25
PopcornMouseInBoots · 08/03/2012 10:26

And by generic I mean smegs Shock Blush though maybe it was a freudian slip and Generic is to blame!

PopcornMouseInBoots · 08/03/2012 10:27

I think most of us use Fertility Friend, cupcakes - any thermometer will do as long as it goes to 2 decimal places, and I think as long as you don't sleep with your mouth open like me orally should be fine :)

Imps7 · 08/03/2012 10:27

Aaaarg Cupcakes how bloody annoying for you. Temping may be useful - it's worth giving it a shot to see how you get on.

I use Fertility Friend - the basic charting function is free, but if you want the extra bits which allow for extra obsession information, you need to pay (it's about £30 for a year although you can get shorter subscriptions).

The thermometer just needs to go to 2 decimal places - you can get farenheit or celsius - FF works with both. You can get them on Amazon or Ebay - just search for "fanjometer" "basal body thermometer".

Re: timing, it's best to take your temp at the same time every day when you've been asleep for 3 hours or more. I take mine at 6:30am every morning (I set my alarm at weekends and when I'm on holiday and then go back to sleep!). There probably isn't much point taking your temp if there's a huge time difference - just leave it out that day - you will be able to see a much clearer overall pattern.

Re: how to take your temp, it's a matter of personal choice! I temp fanjoly because I get much more accurate readings that way - the first couple of cycles I temped orally but my temps were all over the place that way - it depends on whether you sleep with your mouth open, drink water during the night etc etc. Up to you though!

I really enjoy temping - I did think that it would make me really obsessed, but actually it makes me more relaxed about things - I know when I ovulated, I know if AF is coming because my temps drop - when she does appear I've already got over it and moved onto the next cycle.

Ooh, that sucks Cupcakes. Hope you're ok?

Nope, kitchen not sorted . Waiting on electrician to get his lazy arse here - he promised to be here by 10:30 at the latest as I had to go out. Guess what? No sign of him. Git.

Pop how are you? How's the poplet (minipop? Poptart?)? PS it's me making the quiche! Recipe here.

PopcornMouseInBoots · 08/03/2012 10:43

That looks amazing smegs
I'm not sure I can be arsed to go to the shop, I wonder what I can cobble together from the fridge Hmm :o

Sparkle you make me Grin From CD1 you are diffed. I also love tenoing (fanjoly also) My DH sleepily asked what I was doing once. He doesn't ask anymore Grin

Cup so sorry about he BFN. If it is an ovulatory cycle, that is totally normal though, nothing to worry about.

Smegs that looks immense. I am now also spending too much time reading food blogs!

Pop what did you find in the fridge?

PopcornMouseInBoots · 08/03/2012 13:20

I'm lacking one key ingredient, maybe - cream! So I'll go shopping tonight and bake tomorrow :d

I love you lot!

Smegs glad you are back and I am brooking no argument that you are in fact diffed and AF will not be visiting. Good to get to 23 days though n'est pas?

Sparks your ttc drawer sounds like fun. I am wondering about temping next cycle too but of course I will be preggo so no need.

Pops don't go blaming me for your pregnant lady cravings!

I'm buying gifts for my friend who is starting mat leave soon. There are some lovely things and it's making me even more broody.
